Brooklyn, NY
A solid Cantonese restaurant with The Famous Four Inventions of China: congee, rice vermicelli, noodles, & rice. (Culinary discussions here only. If you want to discuss history we'll need to chat off site, ha!)
Best congee around the area. Flavorful, loaded with ingredients, big portion per order and most important, the consistency was perfect. Pure happiness in a bowl!
Lobster. Get the lobster. What's stopping you from tearing that bish apart? What? You're allergic? Well, let me eat that for you. YUM!! Seriously, you can't make lobster any better at home. Try. If you do, invite me over ;)
I love their tripe and I'll get it over noodles whenever I can. Not too tough that you can't chew apart, just the good amount of bite. Your jaw won't get tired, relax. It should come with a dish of hot sauce oil but they don't have that in-house so you'll get served with a dish of regular hot sauce. Whatever, savor that baby up!
Their rice "crepes" could be a hit or a miss depending the day. When I first went it was fantastic; skin was thin and ingredients were bountiful. The most recent visit was slightly disappointing; skin was so thick it made me gag. Oh well, bring on the fried crullers instead!
One star deducted because their over the counter meats aren't as tasty. I've had better. Like...across the street better. *ahem*
Like other reviewers had mentioned, place gets packed during the weekends and nights. Their prices are very reasonable hence the herds of customers but don't worry, usually I get seated within 10-15 minutes on any given busy night. Go in famished, eat your heart out and leave happy. I always do. -

Great spot, I am not Chinese but know what good Chinese Food should taste like.
Lobster w Ginger great dish, good texture always fresh (they sell gazillion of them)
Crispy Duck great dish, always fresh, juicy and crispy
Bok Choy and Chinese Broccoli amazing
Corn Soup amazing
Absolutely recommend, service ok with friendly no English Speaking Waiters. -

My family likes to come here for family gatherings. The restaurant is not very big though. They consistently serve quality food and the service is great. Food come at reasonable times. The lobster special is a great deal but the portions are small. Their lamb chops are a must!
One thing that bothers me is their take out. When ordering a rice dish, they put the dish on top of the rice whereas I would like my dish and rice separate. -

Ordered wonton noodles and my brother had roast pork over rice. Service was pretty tacky but the food was decent. I had roughly 4 wontons in my dish and it was filling for the price. Roast pork is always good in the morning when it's fresh so there was nothing wrong with it here. Overall a good Sunday breakfast if you're around the area. They don't do dim sum here cause I heard from a friend they supposedly failed the inspection for it. Ohwell. Decent joint.

Very delicious over-the-counter roast pork, roast duck, BBQ RIBS, soy sauce chicken, etc. I've ordered take out a couple of times and had no complaints. The BBQ RIBS are, by far, my favorite because I love how the meat comes right off the bone. Next time, I will consider dining in just to try the infamous lobster that the fellow Yelpers are raving about.

New York, NY
This restaurant opened up roughly last year or two years ago, can not exactly remember. The first week it opened, I had to admit I was really satisfied with the food and service.
Over time, I need to say the food had depreciated and the quality had decreased tremendously. Although the layout and vibe of the restaurant still depicts a classy and clean restaurant, it is not important when the food is terrible.Recent orders from Fu Kee was a huge disappointment, hot and sour soup, beef and broccoli on rice, orange chicken, beef pan fried noodles. The soup was really bland and was more sour than spicy, the beef for beef and broccoli and pan-fried noodles had no taste and felt like cardboard.
I honestly just prefer good ole 86 Wong across the street, friendlier staff and bigger portions. More bang for the bucks at 86 Wong in my opinion. Surprised that 86 Fu Kee lasted so long. -
Review from Kenny C.
Not sure if it was a fluke, but my last time there was a lot more disappointing than my previous times. The complementary chicken was rough and tasted (c)old. The double lobster seemed like it came with less (can't blame them since they were running a really cheap $10 special). The pepper steak was tough.
There were also some things out of their control (like an annoying woman yelling at her kids in broken English, and a crying baby), but I won't fault them for that.
The eggplant/salty fish/diced chicken casserole was good as ever, and the vegetable plate came with a lot (sorry, don't know the names of any Chinese veggies).
The floor was also inexplicably (and dangerously) slippery.Listed in: 86th Street Chinese…

Reliable decently priced food.
Good dim sum, good take out.
Cha siu cheung fun, haw gou are our family's current favorites.
The shrimp has a spring when you bite in, the bbq pork is well seasoned, and when you ask for half fatty pork, they give you: half fatty pork!
You can wait and order the roasted meat as it comes out of their kitchen. While waiting for the food like a jaguar on a hyena, you can toss around phrases about the impeding doom about the economy and how expensive vegetables are. That will get the locals bitching.
Their roasted pork has a beautiful brown fatty crispy skin. Their roasted duck is like a fine perfume: fat, herbals and smells better with time. Sit in a car with it too long, and the locals will start smelling you and heading here.
Enjoy! -

Staying in Brooklyn for the weekend from MA. Looked it up on Yelp and wanted to give it a try. A typical Chinese resturant... food is great. Busy place, the food came quickly. Like many suggestions, we had the lobster too!!

This is my new go to place for the past year for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It replaces 86 Wong across the street. Sorry guys.
This is one of my favorite places to go for cheap, good, and quick Chinese take out.
I usually get a porridge or 2 meats over rice or sometimes meat in noodle soup.
The food Rocks, nuff said! -

I think the best things here are the meats: duck and crispy roast pork especially. We also got a sort of stir-fried lai fun. It was pretty good, but very oily and could of used a little more flavoring.
The fried cruellers wrapped in rice crepe with dried shrimp and scallions was served cold and messily. And did I mention cold? Not good.
Prices? ~28 for these three dishes. A little pricey for the small portions. -
Review from Ting S.
best roasted duck i've ever had in my life! and i've had a LOT in my lifetime, in a multitude of cities in the U.S. and abroad. it's juicy, with a crispy roast and minimal fat.
get the whole duck so you can get the container of duck juice that they collect as the duck is chopped up! keep in mind you have to ask for it. ($17 a duck)
this place is the mecca of chinese BBQ, nowhere else have I ever tasted such perfect glaze on chinese style meats. keep in mind if you eat in, you may have to share a large table with strangers.Listed in: Craveables

Congee was good. Got it for my Herng Ha mui friend because she is a sucker for Congee. Even for a day like today when outside was like hotter then Osama's butthole.
But Since I don't eat pork and my herng ha mui friend loves pork with thousand year old egg congee, We usually get beef with the egg congee. I ordered the congee to go at 3.95, forgot for a second that I wanted the eggs in it because i had to use the John and when i told the guy at the counter, he told his co workers. Thinking that they would add it.....
flash forward 10 minutes later on the D train and adding 1 more dollar towards the congee meal........ THEY FORGOT TO PUT the egg. SMH. They short changed me!
the congee was good. Good for me and good for my farmer friend.
btw.... the place looks pretty clean and the ducks hanging on the windows look mad tasty. -

Good Cantonese meats in 86th Street, generally better than 86 Wong across the street. Very good char siu (roast pork), siu yuk (roast pig), pipa duck. The Hong Kong style ginger scallions lo-mein ain't bad either and doesn't make me miss NY Noodletown,

Price is cheap and food is good! Their congee is sooooooooo good! They put a lot of ingredients in it. I could not believe their yao jah gwai taste so fresh even when I got it at 8 pm. Cuz usually people eat congee with yao jah gwai in the morning.
Good food. If you plan to dine in... sometimes you gotta share a table with others when it gets really crowded. No big deal. The place is small. It's not like super clean but it's acceptable. -
Review from Kenny M.
Brooklyn, NY
Maybe it's the idea of eating at a cheap crowded Chinese restaurant that doesn't sit well with me, but I definitely overestimated Fu Kee's quality and service.
If you have friends that live in the Bensenhurst area, you might have heard exceptional things about Fu Kee's cheap and delicious food (particularly their lobster). Something about $10 lobster makes me question how they're able to sell it for so cheap. Drenched in oil and slapped together with ginger and scallion, their lobster was a little less than appetizing. As for their other dishes, their cold chicken appetizer, beef/vegetable stir-fry, chicken/salted-fish fried rice, they probably would have tasted better if you ordered them from Panda Express.
The cleanliness of this establishment is definitely questionable. The chopsticks were oily, the plates had specks of dried food on them and our table wasn't cleaned thoroughly. Yeah. Okay. This place has got a lot of people coming in and out, especially on weekends, but that's no excuse for cleanliness to falter.
Extremely oily food, questionable cleanliness, and poor waiter service all contribute to a less than mediocre restaurant. -

Lets kick off this review right.... TWIN LOBSTERS FOR $10-11 (catch must order at least $15's worth of food first.)
Me and my girl was suppose to grab some sushi down the block when we saw this place "FU-KEE"!
"Hey babe, want to FU-KEE?" needless to say... we fell for it.
We had our traditional salted pepper quid order and another dish just so I can try the twin lobsters deal they had. You can basically tell them how you want it cooked and I had to go with ginger sauce. Man oh man! it was worth every penny! The garlic sauce gave the lobster some kick. You do have to get your hands a little dirty for this dish if you want every piece of mean on those lobsters. In the end... you will be thinking on how many ways you want your lobster served to you on your future visits. -

Going out with the gf's family and new in-laws sure as heck exposes me to a lot of Chinese food. Since I am in attendance among a chorus of others, I just tend to leave the ordering to everyone else. I only specified a few things - no steamed chicken, roast duck, or roast pork (as I've consumed more than my share in the last several days. For those who don't know, the chicken and the pork are staples of any chinese event, be it wedding, funeral, or whatnot.
Overall, I enjoyed the dishes, but wouldn't say they were out of this world. I don't really know that I'd make my way out here just for the food.
I sampled...
Rice cakes with pork - not bad
Minced beef with egg soup - good, but nothing to write home about
Complimentary Drunken Chicken - a little on the chewy side
Lobster with ginger and scallion (?) - tasty, but not out of this world
Short ribs stir fried with peppers - okay dish, not a ton of flavor, but okay
Salted fish with chicken & eggplant - a nice and tasty dish, but definitely only for the initiated.
Lamb chops in a sweet sauce - A little like Peking Pork, I honestly couldn't really taste the lamb with this sauce, but I really like a bold tasting lamb
Squid with Sugar Snaps - nice dish
Clams with Black Bean Sauce - would have liked some heat with this dish, gf thought it was too salty
Assorted stir fried chives and stuff - eh.
Fish Filets with Chinese Melon (Moqua?) - I also enjoyed this dish. Love the melon. -

Fu Kee is my go-to Chinese spot for my morning fried dough with congee when I'm in Brooklyn. The stuff usually comes out very fresh & piping hot, it's delicious! The best part is their prices - extremely cheap & affordable.

Tonight, I'm quite upset at this place. My fiancee went inside to place an order while I was outside waiting with my daughter, whose an infant, in a stroller. It was 9:17pm when my fiancee placed the order. 10, minutes passed and still no food, so I gave another 5 minute wait. Meanwhile, customer who came after us, went in and out of the place like nothing. Keep in mind, I have an infant with me...
So, I switched spot with my fiancee and I went inside to ask the waiter about my order. One of them told me its on the way. Another waiter came up to me and ASKED me what I ordered. When someone does that, he either forgot about your order and was never placed or he really want to know.
I got so fed up, we left the placed. The time we left was 9:47pm. The nerve of him asking me what I order... that means my order was never placed. You screwed me, so I screw you back. Besides, what food takes 30 minutes to make on non-busy night?
Don't get me wrong, this restaurant is decent and the food is good. I'm just pissed the fact that we had to wait1 Previous Review: Show all »

Brooklyn, NY
I had an errand in the neighborhood and randomly tried this place without reading any reviews. I wish I had because the lobster deal sounds great... I just can't remember it being on the menu and couldn't read the Chinese specials posted on the fish tanks. For all I know, they said "Gowanus Canal's Finest"
As such, I spied a waiter with a plate of noodles that looked good and thus orders Spicy Beef Lo Mein. What I got was a heaping mound of wide egg noodles, tossed with a non-spicy sauce, occasional bits of bell peppers/veggies, and also random bits of somewhat chewy beef.
Note to self: When a menu item has a red chili next to it and an asterisk claiming "hot or spicy" please be sure to confirm with staff that the dish is indeed actually hot and spicy.
Not to self 2: Order Rosetta Stone and learn to say, "No really, can I get it authentically hot, not Gringo dude hot?"... in Mandarin, Vietnamese, Thai and Hindi.
As you can probably deduce, I would have liked a bit more kick, a bit more flavor, and some more veg/protein - less noodle. But given the $6(ish) price, one could understand the bulk of the dish being the least expensive filler ingredient.
Overall, it was pretty plain ++, but I'm willing to blame much of that on my choice of dish. The cooks up front were carving duck and other meats that looked good in passing. Will re-try with the knowledge that's it's best to go with a protein focused dish, not a rice or noodle + whatever. -

This is affordable Chinese food - as good as it gets.
Honestly, if you look at the crowd of people waiting for a table any night of the week - that proves this place is a crowd pleaser in terms of price and quality.
I'm Chinese and my family and I come here when we don't want to cook. Chinese people only do that at a restaurant that gives you both VALUE with a CHEAP price. Nuff said.
Don't expect great service - you're not paying for it with your cheap meal and expect to wait at least 30 mins - especially on the weekends. -

Brooklyn, NY
I've had my share of chinese food, and Fu Kee is definitely not my pick. If you rather trade in flavor for cheap this is the place to go. Everyone raves about the cheap lobster, but I personally felt that some of my tail pieces were taken out of left out, the flavor was simply and not a flavor that would invite me back. The wait was not worth the food.
TAKE OUT: My experience was horrible with take out, I had them deliver to my house a couple of times and every time the food seemed to be cooked carelessly and only one thing came to mind "since its take out they don't really care, its not like your sitting at the restaurant to complain to them" My friends and I ordered an order of beef w/ veggies and we literally had 7 pieces of beef in the whole order...not impressed with their take out
All in all they get 3 stars for trying to cook authentic chinese food but one star because the take out was horrible, flavor was not there, and the food every time I've eaten there or ordered comes out extremely oily, which is a big turn off. -

So there is a state of emergency in NYC because of an approaching hurricane (Ha!), and what do I do? I bike 6 miles to Bensonhurst to have some Cantonese-style Chinese food. I ordered a congee with pork & thousand year old egg, roasted duck and a plate of mai fun noodles with pork & shrimp. Everything was delicious! All together the total bill came out to $22 including tip. Wow! I will be back :-)

Review from Sandy C.
I don't know what is it with Chinese restaurants. The cling and the clatter of chopsticks against plates, the loud chatter, or that the food comes super fast. But whatever the reason it's all good. This restaurant used to be located in Chinatown, but their lease was up so they moved into this Brooklyn location. It's conveniently close to the train station too. There's no dim sum served, but they have various rice dishes and entrees served for lunch/dinner.
The decor of the restaurant is simple. With one chandelier hanging on the ceiling and walls a creme yellow. A not too big and not too small of a restaurant, but it gets crowded fast - so there will be some waiting. The food here is pretty good. They have this special 2 lobsters for $9.95 (only if you dine in). No it's not going to be lobster with lemon and butter, it's going to be Cantonese style. Also if you dine in and order minimum $30 worth of food, lobster excluded, then you get 1/4 "drunken" chicken for free. Not that many people know about this deal and it's not listed anywhere in the restaurant, it's just all word of mouth. But if you want the chicken you need to tell the waiter because it's one of those things where you either know it or don't know it.
The roast pork is really juicy and tender. The lobster I had was cooked with ginger and scallion, which was really good! The drunken chicken is made to be eaten cold, not really my thing, but it was good. The asparagus with steak was okay.Listed in: Good and cheap eats on the go

Review from Ben C.
86 Fu Kee is located in a very convenient location if you're coming by subway. I can't say the same if you're going to drive though.
My girlfriend was very sick today and she specifically requested congee (rice porridge) for lunch. So I braved the cold and the threat of an oncoming blizzard and decided to drive to 86 Wong to grab some lunch to go. Not being able to find parking, I decided to call and tell them my order and pick it up when it was ready. An angry sounding man picked up and I asked for a 1000 Year Old Egg Congee with Minced Meat and Scallion Chicken Rice. Rudely he cut me off, screamed "that's it!?" and promptly hung up on me. Wow way to run a business 86 Wong.
I turned around to check for traffic, ready to leave in an annoyed mood when the sight of a storefront I didn't recognize caught my eye. It was 86 Fu Kee. I thought to myself "has that always been there?" I quickly called the number that showed proudly on their awning and a very mellow sounding gentleman answered the phone. This time I asked first if I could place and order and pick it up in a bit. His reply? "Of course! Who wouldn't allow that?" Well your grouchy neighbors across the street wouldn't for one.
I placed the same order and it was ready in 5 minutes. I rushed the food up to the LES as quickly as my car and traffic would allow me to. The congee was still piping hot. There was plenty of egg pieces and meat floating around and my girlfriend claims it was good. However my Scallion Chicken Rice doesn't get such a high rating. I took it out of the bag and the first thing I noticed was that they skimped on the chicken. I had probably about 4 or 5 pieces of chicken over a gigantic container or white rice. It was a 4 to 1 order. Meaning for every four spoonfuls or forkfuls of rice, I'm allowed one bite of chicken or else I'd be left with a big container of rice. I sure hope it isn't like this for dining in customers otherwise there'd be some serious complaints. Especially since the chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked such that the meat wasn't dry at all.
Taking a quick survey of the interior, I saw that there was a dining area in the rear of the restaurant. It actually appeared to be rather small but maybe there was more tables and chairs hiding somewhere.
While staring at a sign taped onto the register reading "CASH ONLY," I overheard a conversation betweand waiter and a customer saying that there's no dim sum at this restaurant. This fact was confirmed by the lovely Sandy C. who was first to discover and share this place with the Yelp community. Extra props to Sandy C. again for filling me in on the specials on the lobster and drunken chicken. Thanks! I definitely want to come here and sit down for dinner some day.Listed in: Cheap Eats NYC, Brooklyn's South Side

Although I recall coming here about 3 years ago, I remember enjoying their food. I like to get the rice dishes with the barbecued meats like pork, duck, chicken. I enjoy pretty much any kind of meat that has been cooked in a rotisserie and has the fat pretty much fried beyond oblivion. I believe that the food here was pretty tasty. My friend lives in the neighborhood, and she loves their razor clams/seafood dishes. I haven't had any seafood there though. It is delicious, their food, that is! I definitely recommend for you to try it.

I have been waiting for an authentic Chinese restaurant like 86 Fu Kee in my neighborhood. They were originally from Chinatown and have just recently moved to Brooklyn (Bath Beach/Bensonhurst). My family and I have eaten here a couple of times since they opened. Definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants on 86th Street. Sure, there's always a line of people waiting for tables but that's expected when there's great food. Go early or else the wait can be upwards of 30-45 minutes. If you have a smaller party, you might even have to share a big table with others.
The mega deal of this place is the twin lobster cooked almost any style for $10!!!!! Of course, they're not huge lobsters but they are cooked to perfection. Our favorite fried salt and pepper flounder is cripsy on the outside, yet juicy on the inside. Also try the beef steak filet with black pepper sauce (though it can be a bit salty at times).
Note: The portions are better if you eat in than order out!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Seems like the guys from Chinatown (Manhattan) has struck gold in their new location in Brooklyn. Seemed like everyone was ording the two lobsters and we thought, damn what the heck - lets give it a go!
Very tasty indeed and a very sucessful promotion as the joint was packed which is ironic because their dine-in was abysmal in the Chinatown, Manhattan location. The beef stew over broad noodles was on par, the lobster was spot on, and unfortunately the chicken pan fried noodle was a little lacking as the noodles were too thick and lacked the eggy flavor fresh egg noodles should have. -

This place opened up relatively recently and it is great, mostly because it finally gives an option for Chinese food around the Bay Parkway D station that is NOT 86 Wong. 86 Wong's food is pretty subpar but i've been going there for years since there hasn't been any competition. Finally, finally, there's a better option!
This place does good standard Cantonese food very well. Have only been there for breakfast, so have tried various noodle soups and congees and they are all delicious. My parents have been there for lunch and dinner and have said they're pretty good.
Will definitely keep on coming here. -

THis is seriously the best deal in Brooklyn right now. $9.95 for 2 lobsters, (eat in only)! We ordered a table full of food: 4 lobsters, Peking duck, black pepper scallops, fresh fish, sweet and sour Shrimp, Eggplant with garlic sauce, 2 veggies, chicken, Pork bellies and they were big, gigantic dishes and everything was so affordable. It's no wonder the place is always packed to the brim!
I can spend an entire afternoon gawking at the racks of bbq ribs, soy sauce chickens, roast ducks and porks hanging at the window with all their juiciness dripping down.
Very conveniently located at the corner of 86th and Bay Parkway. Buses and trains stop right out front. -

I recommend this place to anyone who is up for good Chinese food. You won't go wrong by ordering as many lobsters as you can eat! $10 for a pair of lobsters, steamed or stir-fried...Lobsters are small-sized, but for $10 a pair!? Come on now...
Location is very convenient as the train stop is right there. If you go during lunch or dinner time, you will have to wait in line as it gets really crowded. -

The best thing about this place: $10 for two whole lobsters!
My friend and I walked into this place and literally every guest was eating lobsters. So we did the most obvious thing and told the waiter that we'd have some of the tasty crustaceans with a side of rice. The rice was bad...a little bit on the crusty side. But then again, we were eating at 4PM..
Service was friendly enough but this is definitely not the cleanest place...but how can you beat the price? -

I came here a few times for take-outs only. My favorite food from here is the BBQ chicken wings because I like small wings less fat and the BBQ sauce mixed with honey that this restaurant put on them are so good.
BBQ wings from here are so different from 86 Wong. Try them and you will see the difference.
