Why, oh why can't I find a sandwich shop as good as 808 Deli back home? There's just nowhere on Oahu that could satisfy my cravings for a simple, perfectly made sandwich. From reading other reviews of 808 Deli, I started to feel quite sandwich deprived. I knew that we just HAD to try it out for ourselves when we visited Maui.

I'm so glad that this small little deli did not disappoint, but instead met all my expectations. I got the Chicken Pesto Panini which was two pieces of perfectly grilled bread generously filled with chicken, sun dried tomatoes, toasted pine nuts, provolone cheese and a delish pesto spread. This sandwich was everything I wanted it to be. Toasty and crispy on the outside, but warm and hearty on the inside. Such an awesome sandwich!! I was going to order the "Porkie" for my hubby, but since he's been in the hunt for a great Reuben, that's what he got instead. Just like my sandwich, his was perfectly grilled with just the right balance of pastrami, sauerkraut, cheese & 1000 island dressing. Another really good choice. My daughter opted for her regular grilled cheese sandwich. Simple, but definitely a little more special because of the quality of ingredients. She also wanted a cookie which the owner almost forgot about. To make up for it, he gave her another cookie for free, Score!

My two regrets: not coming back the following day for more and not getting to try the Caesar dressing. While we were there, some lady came by just to buy their Caesar dressing.... she swore it was the BEST she's ever had. I really wish I tied it while I had the chance. Oh how I wish that I had a deli like this nearby.

808 Deli is tucked away behind Freds Mexican Cafe, right across from the beach. It's a little hole in the wall with decent service that serves one of the best sandwiches I've ever had: the Porkie Panini. Seriously, you have to try this sandwich.

The prices here are very agreeable especially if you've been cooped up at your resort where you're forced to eat mediocre food at $20/person. Walk down the street to S & Q's Coffee & Shave Ice Shack for some shave ice, and you'll be as happy as a clam. :)

After a day at the beach in Wailea there is nothing better then chowing  down on a nice sandwich. 808 Deli is about as good as it gets(probably in all of Maui) to satisfying all of your sandwich cravings

    Parking:
Bigger  free parking lot in strip mall.

    Atmosphere:
Not much to look at. The place is very small. Probably most customers either have the food to go or take the sandwich to eat at the beach across the street. You only have 2 bigger tables to eat at and a old Ms. Pac Man machine. The restaurant is on the hotter side.

    Service:
Service was fast and efficient. The counter people made suggestions on what is good and everything came out relatively quickly.  I'm sure they probably have a lunch time rush so I could imagine some waiting.

    Price:
Expect to pay 7-9$ per sandwich  per person. Not bad for Maui's standards but not super cheap either. Overall I probably could eat 1  1/2 sandwiches if I were looking for a big meal.

    Food:
I went with the Roast beef & mushrooms on swiss  and the girlfriend went with the pulled pork on cole slaw sandwich.  Both were excellent. One of the best things about this place is the rolls they use for the regular sandwiches. They weren't to tough but they also were tough enough not to crumble apart with all the cole slaw and juices flowing. It barely got soggy at all. The Roast beef sand was filled with mushrooms cheese and roast beef and the pulled pork sand was basically a huge scoop of pulled pork with a big scoop of cole slaw on top.

    Overall:
I'm really happy we made a visit after a pool day in Wailea. We had a couple of recommendations to go here and the food was tasty while also being affordable.   You probably can't get much better then this for the price in Wailea/Kihei area.

Loved this place after a day at the Secret Cove beach near Kihei.  We ordered the Chicken Pesto Panini thanks to our Yelpers and that was spot on.  Our daughter ordered the caesar salad and it had crisp lettuce and was very large.  The waiter (son of owner?) was kind to us and gave us a dish of Banana shortbread pudding (it was late in the day and they were closing)...this dish was new to the menu and it was perfect - lots of banana flavor and a bite of shortbread.  Great place to enjoy a sandwich--correct on the tables-not much but good for a small family or better yet, take it across the street and enjoy that view.

We ate here two days in a row!

A small deli with a yummy selection of sandwiches.  As most everyone else pointed out, the chicken pesto pannini is great!  I added their spicy italian pasta as a side and it was really good (interesting spicy and sweet at the same time).  Their porkie was also really good.

Great price and friendly service.  It is a small place so you will wait a bit for your sandwich and there is barely any seating, but they allow you to take it back to their restaurant and sit on the restaurant deck to eat it.  It was so pleasant back there I wanted to eat at the Bistro for dinner, but it was closed for a private party that night.

Highly recommend for a casual, yummy and reasonable Maui lunch!

This place is great! We had the Chicken pesto panini, shitake beef with cheese, kids had sandwiches from the kids menu.  We found this place using Yelp...it was right on and the prices were good.  Order at the deli and sit in the bistro...same owners.  The place is in Kihie and you can kind of see the ocean if you look towards it a certain way.  It didn't matter though, because we faced a grassy area with lots of cool looking birds and had fun looking them up on our phones.  I really wanted to come back and eat at the Bistro, since the menu looked so good, but we never made it back.  I will be back next time though.

I dunno if this place blew me away, but the sandwiches were pretty good. I am a vegetarian so I got the Veggie-licious sandwich--maybe some of their other sandwiches are more amazing?

I wish they toasted the bread, but it is often hard to find a decent vegetarian sandwich so I still give them props and would go back.

Excellent sandwiches and good prices!  At $8, they are about as cheap as it gets on this island.  Based on Yelp's advice, we got the kalua pork and the chicken pesto sandwich.

The kalua pork sandwich was moist and flavorful.  The bread was nicely toasted.

As for the pesto sandwich, I don't think I have ever had chicken breast that moist in any sandwich ever.  The pesto (made with macadamia nuts, of course) was excellent.

Seating is very limited here, but they allowed us to take our sandwiches over to 808 Bistro in the back.  The service is a bit on the slow side, but it's worth the wait.

    Definitely recommend.

These guys advertise themselves as "Nothing over $8 dollars" - and believe me that is hard to find in Hawaii.  But prices aside these guys really know how to make deliciously good food, which in my opinion is really hard to find especially for $8.

Based on the reviews we've read here, in our first visit we went straight for the pesto chicken panini and it was to die for!!  Loved the pesto, pine nuts were a nice touch, and the chicken was cooked perfectly.  And yes, this is a review for a sandwich lol.  Next time my husband got the tuna sandwich but I was so hooked on the pesto chicken panini that I had it again.  You can also get a $2 side dish; they make great pasta / potato / fruit salads.

We also came back for breakfast when they serve a variety of bagels (w/cream cheese, eggs, etc) also for very reasonable prices. This place had me drooling each time we drove by and we highly recommend it!

I'd easily give a 5th star if they were open for dinner. Yes I realize it's a delhi, but we loved it so much we would have gone for a casual dinner meal there. They have quality sandwiches for a reasonable price and very friendly service.

For me, these would be enough to share. My husband always wanted his own because they are so yummy. We went back three times during our 9 days here. We both had the Porkie panini. The pulled pork was better than most other restaurants then had pepper jack cheese and a mango salsa. All the flavors compliment each other perfect, even down to the rye bread.

I also tried the Chicken with Mango chutney, totally rocked. You can tell they use fresh ingredients. Again the flavors going on worked well together and were so good!

You gotta try their breakfast sandwiches too! They all have egg then pick a bagel, croissant, or panini. Then pick a meat: sausage, bacon or ham and then pick a cheese: swiss, provolone, pepp jack, or cheddar. So fresh, warm and yummy.

Only down side is it gets busy some days during lunch and the line is slow moving. But that's partly because the staff is friendly and chatty with every guest then they take their time to cook to order every sandwich. It's all worth the occasional wait.

There is an 808 Bistro too, didn't go there but it's more restaurant style with a different menu, but it's BYOB which is nice. And you can take your 808 Deli food down the hall and use their outdoor tables.

Delicious and original spins on some classic deli sandwiches. I really enjoyed the Roast Beast as did my son (he'd have preferred fewer jalapeños though). My other son had the buffalo wing style hot dog which admittedly sounded strange but he spoke not a word until it was helplessly devoured. The blended potato macaroni salad I understand is good and I loved their ginormous New York deli style pickles.

The only negatives I saw were a lack of air conditioning and limited choices for beverages.

This spot is worth checking out! It makes for a perfect spot while traveling along the coast. I had the southern squealer and it was huge! I probably could have shared it... Not much seating inside but there is a park nearby that would make for a nice setting if you can't find a place to sit inside.

I do have to add in that there was a surprising amount of different types of dogs & drinks that you could have which I feel like is kinda rare but a def plus.

Pretty tasty place to grab lunch on the go. My chicken salad with pine nuts, feta, and cranberries was so delicious!  My husband also enjoyed his turkey sandwich.
I only dinged them one star because the guy working was cold as ice to me, had he not been so nice to the couple before I might not have noticed and thought he was just having a bad day. I guess haters gotta hate, but I'm on vacation so no bad days!!!

It's hard to rate a deli 5 stars, well, because it's just a deli. THIS IS NOT just a deli. These guys are legit, gourmet chef freaks that can whip up some amazing grinds.

So so good, you will not be disappointed. I try a different sandwich every time I go and I've still yet to find something I don't like. That's impressive!

Some of my favorites are the Southern Squealer, The Toasted Italian, and the Turkey Wrap with Avocado. Get the potato salad too and a can of their organic sweet tea.

This place is scrumptious. I have eaten here 3 times and each sandwich has been a delight. The service is very friendly and I found my self here for lunch several days in a row.

The Pastrami on a toasted Hoagie is phenomenal. I give it a 10/10

The Pork sandwich with coleslaw was good but there was too much meat and slaw for the bread to handle. It was probably the messiest sandwich I have had in a while. Bueno deli for sures.

Wow.  What a sandwich! We ordered the porkie.  It's a panini style sandwich filled with outstanding flavored kalua pork and mango salsa.  This was one of the few times we opted to not try their most popular item on the menu and we really feel we made the right decision.  The sandwich tasted like nothing we've had before.  We've had plenty of pulled pork sandwiches in the past but this island twist made this sandwich into something remarkable.  It was savory and sweet, hot and cold, crispy and chewy all in one bite.  Top notch paninis being made here!

I wanted to come here everyday I was in Maui. The place itself if small, staff is helpful when you can't decide on what you want and make great recommendations.

    I tried and LOVED

+ Pineapple ham honey mustard panini (GREAT)
    +Toasted Italian (GREAT)
+ Southern Squealer (AMAZING) -- topped with cole slaw and the hot pork on the sandwich mixed with the cool, oddly very tasty slaw was a great combination.

    + Pastrami (Normal, large portions)
+ Side of Macaroni/potato salad (Tasty and saucy)

Skip the "porkie" ... I tried it but I wasn't crazy about it. The mango salsa wasn't enough to balance the dry rye bread and the pork itself was a little dry.

Everything else was BOMB. AMAZING. Great, especially for the price, especially for Kihei, Maui.

    Recommend.

This place is one of my favorite spots to grab lunch in Kihei. Nothing is over $8.00 and the offer an incredible selection of paninis, salads and other dishes. 808 serves up lots of refreshment options, including coffee beverages, soda and water. They even offer up gelato in all sorts of unique flavors. The dessert case has myriad snack options to satisfy your sweet tooth, including cupcakes, mini tarts and so much more. I just cant praise this place enough!

Order the pesto panini- I substituted the chicken for avocados. OUT OF THIS WORLD!

Overall, great food is served at modest prices with a smile. Run on over and I promise you'll be back.

QUICK TIP- Grab your meal to go and cross the street to eat your meal ocean side. Fun!

Came here for a quick sandwich while visiting Maui on a short 3 day stint. I thought the kimchi reuben was a strange pairing so I was compelled to try it. Like the locals say, it was pretty ono! It kinda reminded me of the kimchi quesadillas I've had off the Kogi truck in LA or the ones off the Marination Mobile in my hometown of Seattle. Kimchi, cheese, pastrami, panini pressed toasted bread, what more can you ask for? My girl is Korean and she even approved although I'll have to admit that she is very americanized. Haha. She ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and that was also very good. Next time I'm in Maui, I'm for sure coming back for some more.

If you're in Kihei and craving a sandwich, 808 Deli is the way to go.

We stopped by on our way to the Road to Hana. We picked up a little styrofoam cooler and filled it with goodies for a picnic lunch.

We had the Toasted Wasabi & Toasted Italian sandwiches (sans toast since they were getting tossed in the cooler), fruit, and Maui chips. The flavor combination in the Wasabi was great and the lady friend enjoyed the Italian.

The dude behind the counter was really nice too.

so, i read the reviews before our honeymoon in maui and was excited to check out the sammies here.  delish!  we ended up eating here twice during our 1 week stay.  we got to try:

    - chicken pesto (my wife's fav)

    - shiitake mushroom and beef (great flavor; just wished there was more meat)

    - chicken w/ this yummy, spicy chutney; yum!!

    - the porkie, i believe, w/ chili dipping sauce.  absolute flavor party in the mouth.

we also had the italian pasta salad, which was really good, too.

the flavor combos are creative and well done.  the peeps that run the place are chill, too.  we'll be back next time we're in maui!

It is on the corner of a little shopping center, opposite the beach/park area. We would just order the lunch there,  take our food to the beach, and enjoy a nice picnic. Love the steak and mushroom sandwich on a hoggie bun, with a side salad or fruit...seriously delicious stuff!

I got the chicken pesto panini. I give it a2 out of 5. Didn't have enough pesto (flavor). It was very "plain Jane". Nothing special.

Husband got pastrami sandwich. I'm not a fan of pastrami, but the flavors of the pastrami were fantastic. Ooooh..... can't wait to try again.

It's not because I'm impulsive, it's because it looked that good. Turns out, it was. Next time I'm on the island, I know where I'm eating my first lunch.

A good deli with reasonable prices. They feature regular sandwiches, paninis, salads, and sides. I got the 808 salad ($8), which was actually very good. It came with cranberries, feta cheese, pine nuts, chicken, and papaya dressing... a great combination. The portion was quite substantial and was a good, filling lunch.

They let you sit in the restaurant (808 Bistro) to eat your food. The restaurant setting is very peaceful. I was very pleased with this place.
