Hugh was extremely helpful and professional. He has a wide range of products and the ABSOLUTE BEST PRICES. We shopped around quite a bit for hardwood floors for our brand new home. It would have cost us 40K to have the floors we wanted installed through our builder, so we decided to put in the standard carpet and tile and do the floors through Hugh and 800 floors.
We needed approximately 1300 square feet of flooring and we had to have carpet and some tile removed. Hugh made sure everything was ready to go as soon as our home was finished. His crew, led by Noel, was prompt and on time, and they finished the job extremely quickly--within 2 days. The floors look amazing and the transitions are also perfect.
We selected the Garrison French Oak engineered hardwood and after the install we had some problems with a couple of the T-moldings cracking but Hugh ordered the new parts immediately and handled the repairs quickly.
That's where you really see how good a business is--when things go wrong. Hugh and his staff were very nice to work with and we just couldn't believe how much better their prices were for the materials and installation.
We've worked with a lot of contractors but none as headache free as 800 Floors. Definitely recommend them without reservation. -

Came here to look for engineered wood flooring.
There were lots of choices. Friendly and patient sales people.They were even willing to make phone calls to find more information about the flooring I was interested in.
One thing they could do is make their showroom brighter. It was sometimes hard to see the color of the floor because the lighting is so dark. But otherwise, would definitely recommend. -

800 Floors had just completed the hardwood installation in our home for the entire downstairs, staircase, and upstairs hallway, and it is simply GORGEOUS!! I can't rave enough about these guys! Thanks, Yelpers for the the great reviews! We can absolutely see why the reviews have been so awesome.
First, Hugh is totally knowledgeable about hardwood floors. He really does his homework and stays on top of trends and customer needs and preferences. We have spent many months reading and researching on hardwood floors even before we approached any showrooms. Then, we visited numerous different showrooms in the entire Bay Area, based on the reviews here on Yelp. When we visited Hugh at 800 Floors, we were overwhelmingly impressed.
Hugh took his time to explain to us the pros and cons of the different woods, listened to our needs, and offered sound options. Having talked to so many folks at the various showrooms, we found Hugh to be professional and yet very friendly, cheerful, and down to earth. It was like talking to an expert friend and getting advice as to how to proceed with our floor project. Hugh even followed up diligently with the wood manufacturer for us to get a great discount on the wood we finally chose.
Next comes Noel and his excellent and super-friendly installation team. Noel is a master craftsman when it comes to hardwood floor installation. He and his team take a lot of pride in their work and the fabulous results speak for themselves. The installation was flawless, down to the last detail.
They were really good with minimizing dust, especially when they had to remove all the tiles from our kitchen. The debris were removed quickly and cleanly and they made several trips to the dumps during the day, leaving very minimal rubbish on our property. Finally, the wood installation was done so quickly and seamlessly. We couldn't resist but added more to the project scope and asked them to do the hallway upstairs as well! Again, Hugh and Noel's team were so accommodating. Within one morning, they were able to acquire the necessary extra wood and Noel's team went straight to work on the upstairs. We are so glad that we had that done too. It ties the whole house together so beautifully, from downstairs to upstairs.
We highly recommend 800 Floors and would definitely go to them again whenever we're ready to install hardwood floors in our bedrooms. It's like a new house we're living in right now, and already some friends and neighbors are asking for 800 Floors contact info! :)) -

Using Hugh at 800 Floors was the best decision that my wife and I made when it came to the hardwood floors. THANKS YELPERS! Hugh was awesome to work with. He spent a lot of time with us in helping us choose the right flooring for our home. My wife and I were indecisive about three products. Hugh let us bring home the sample pieces so we could evaluate it at home. It made the decision so much easier. Our brand new hardwood floors look amazing thanks to Hugh and his installation team. It only took 2 days to complete the installation.
We will be using 800 Floors again for our next home project.
Tip - If you can, the best time to see him is during the week when he can devote more time with you in choosing the hardwood flooring. -

I am sorry to ruin the excellent reviews for the 800 hardwood floors that everyone else has put on yelp but our experience unfortunately was different. They simply refused to do the job on installing the hardwood floor after we said that the squeaky noise on the plywood in the kitchen should be addresses before
installing the wood !!!
I really do not want to make this review long but just want to warn people out there not to be misled by the great reviews here as unfortunately we were misled. -

About two weeks ago 800 floors completed the installation of our engineered hardwood floors in our brand new tri-level town home. What can I say, absolutely beautiful!! Michael at 800 Floors was awesome! He was professional, courteous, knowledgable and just a nice guy. He always accommodated us in every single way. Young and his installation crew were exceptional in terms of craftsmanship and again just great bunch of guys. They even worked Sunday just to make sure the install was done on time and bought my fiancee and i Vietnamese ice coffee on one of the days. Thank you 800 Floors for making the entire process a GREAT experience.

I picked 800 Floors because of their great reviews. I wanted a local company that would stand behind their service and product. I was not disappointed. Hugh was great in the selection process and in dealing with my "sub floor" that turned out to be partical board. Together we were able to determine the best way to cover the partical board with a real plywood sub-floor that was needed for attaching my floors. The installation team was great. They were quick and careful in how they handled my furniture and the flooring. The floor was installed perfectly. I have a very crooked hall and they were able to install the floors following that bend so the hall looks straighter! I was amazed how quickly they were done installing about 1200 sq. feet of Johnson Forever Tuff flooring.

800 floors has done an excellent job in our new home !
They removed the carpet in one half of the house and installed french connection - white oak hardwood - really beautiful !
They were fast, very good quality and double checked all possible concerns before installation. Hugh was very helpful in selecting the right wood and he was very flexible to accommodate our changing schedules due to postponed move-in dates.
800 floors is be highly recommended for hardwood flooring - Excellent work ! -

I purchased my hardwood flooring and installation from 800 Floors. Hugh, the owner, is very knowledgeable, very helpful and professional. All of my questions were answered in great detail. The quote for materials and labor was the best I could find anywhere in the Bay Area. Most of all, Hugh was always reachable by phone or email and quick to respond.
Installation was top notch and done in only a couple days. I was so happy with the installation work that I also had 800 Floors install new carpeting in my bedroom (they don't sell carpet, but I paid them extra to pick it up from another store and install it). Even though I did not get the exact square footage I needed on the carpet, 800 Floors was able to make everything work by stitching some pieces together. It was done so well, you can't even tell.
I would HIGHLY recommend 800 Floors for your flooring needs. -

We had initially picked a completely wrong color/type of wood that didn't match our existing hardwood due to some misunderstandings, but Hugh took care of the issues in no time.
His crew was professional, timely and efficient. Also, affordable.
We ended up having about 800 sq feet of oak installed in three bedrooms. It looks awesome - our house is now worth so much more than before and it took only 3 days to make it all happen.
The store is conveniently located in Willow Glen and there are thousands of samples to choose from. Also, Hugh gives very accurate quotes and keeps his promises.

We recently had the floors in our home done by Hugh and his team and would highly recommend them!
Hugh is very friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and was very willing to take the time to educate and explain to my wife and I the pros and cons of different types of floors. We spent a lot of time asking Hugh questions over the course of multiple visits to his showroom, and he was always helpful and informative, and never pressured us into any decision.
When it came time for the installation, the crew was able to start the job early and finished ahead of schedule, which was very helpful for us in having our home ready to move in on time. The quality and workmanship was excellent.
All in all it was a great experience working with 800 floors and we would do it again without any hesitation. And the results speak for themselves, we love our new floors and have received many compliments from visitors. -

They just completed hardwood installation to my house and it is beautiful!!! My house has now more luxurious feel comparing with the previous old carpet look.
Before starting I was a little concerned about the budget installing hardwood floor, but Hugh helped us finding best hardwood floor within our budget and now the result is excellent.
Moreover, Hugh is very friendly and answered all the questions very nicely throughout the installation process, which eliminated all my concerns.
One important thing. There could be many hidden costs in hardwood installation such as carpet removing, so be careful. Some floors actually charge carpet removal by sqft as well. But in 800 floor carpet removal is free and there is no surprise in pricing. Hugh will clearly tell you all the costs you need to pay when you ask a quote or after measurement.
I strongly recommend 800 floor for your hardwood floor, and if you don't believe me, try this; Call several hardwood floor stores including 800 floor and ask a quote. You will at least find which store sounds more trustworthy and believable. -

I chose 800 Floors based on the previous Yelp reviews and am so happy I did! Hugh was very helpful in ordering the material and scheduling the job. After he sent his team to take measurements, he called back to say that my initial measurements were incorrect (more square feet than what Carlos calculated), and as a result, we'd save $800.
Carlos and his team installer showed up on time during the three-day installation, were very helpful, pleasant, hard-working, and most-importantly, really took pride in their work.
What a pleasure to work with this team of people! -

Hugh and is entire team are a pleasure to work with -- I cannot say enough good things about his business and his crew.
Like many people, I've had my share of awful flooring experiences. My experience with Hugh and his staff couldn't have been better.
Hugh sent his lead installer out to my home with samples I had selected to insure that they not only matched in the natural light in my home, but to insure the accuracy of the quote. The quotation was at market (a fair price) and produced quickly. Hugh responded to my multiple requests for additional information and adjustments with a smile and with a professional attitude (not surprising) -- resulting in the exact, perfect flooring arrangement that I wanted.
The installation experience couldn't have been better. The team of five arrived on time and completed removal, installation, floorboards, painting and polishing all within one day -- for a master bedroom and an entire upstairs landing area!
Did I also mention that the installation experience also included a consultation for 20 minutes on arrangement and alignment to insure it would exactly meet my needs? That they were clean and courteous? That when there was one minor issue it was dealt with promptly and sincerely?
As I said at outset-- if you've tried others and had the typical flooring experience, try Hugh and his team at 800 floors. I'm happy to be a reference for their fine work. -

We just had them install throughout the house, top and bottom floor with the hardwood floor, over 2000 sqft. It took us some time to choose the wood, but the sales guy was very helpful and knowledgeable. They gave good suggestions to help us choose the wood. The actually installation went very smoothly, and the floor is looking beautifully. The installation was very professional and delivered as promised. We are very pleased with the service. Highly recommend this place. 5 star!

In general, I'm quite wary of contractors coming in and out of our house to do home improvement work. A stranger traipsing around our stuff?? Kelly and Hugh made me feel comfortable with their installer in a way that none of the other flooring companies we contacted did. It was clear that this was someone who worked closely with them, rather than someone they hired randomly as jobs came in. As promised, their installer was licensed, bonded, professional, polite, and quick!
Kelly is an absolute sweetheart. We were on a pretty limited budget and had to match existing hardwood floors that were put in who knows when, and she helped us meet all our needs. Proof of someone who really knows what she's doing: based on our existing floors, my fiance and I each picked the hardwood that we thought best matched the current color. We teased each other that the other was way off when he picked a dark brown and I picked a golden red. Meanwhile, we gave Kelly a point-and-shoot photo (in poor lighting) of the floors. From the photo alone, she told us what kind of wood it was and pointed us to the color she thought matched best. Placed next to our guesses, we thought there was no way--her choice was a bright, bright red. But of course, you know what happened next. We took samples of all three colors to compare, and we were SO WRONG, not even close, while Kelly's matched perfectly and even accounted for the darkening that the wood would undergo after installation. Amazing. -

We went to Hugh's store after reading all the positive Yelp reviews. We were extremely happy with his service. He's very patient and spent hours educating us about difference between the different brands and types of hardwood floors. He's very passionate about what he does and we found him warm and very honest. Eventually we decided to go with the Mirage brand. We used our own handy man to do the floor installation. He ended up ordering too much and we had 4 boxes left after the installation. The hardwood floor company does not accept any returns. Hugh took back 2 boxes and refunded us out of his pocket. The Bull nosing we ordered turned out to be very curvy. He ordered the replacement for us. It turned out to be curvy again. Our handy man told us it's going to look really ugly if we install it as is. Again Hugh came to the rescue. He took the nosing and went to ask his installation guy to trim the nosing and made it straight.
It was such a pleasure to work with Hugh! We couldn't have asked for more in terms of customer service and professionalism. In hindsight we should have used his installer for the installation. I'd recommend him to anyone who's looking for hardwood floor. -

We chose Hugh at 800 Floors for our hardwood floors project at our new home. We were extremely happy with the experience and with the job that the 800 Floors staff did with the installation. Hugh did an outstanding job explaining the pros and cons of all of the types of products we were considering. He made sure that all of the details were taken care of and there really were no unplanned issues. The 800 Floors installation team was very professional. They arrived on time, completed the installation quickly, and cleaned up the construction area thoroughly. The pricing for materials and labor was competitive, and a great value considering the no nonsense hassle free service they provide. We intend on contacting Hugh's 800 Floors for our future flooring projects, and we will will recommend them to our friends and family.

I love 800 floors services!!! they helped me selected a great hardwood product and installation was perfect. One of my friend recommended this place which has lots of selection and she also purchased her wood from 800floors. She was very happy with their services. I've been researching quality wood with good prices at lot of different places in San Jose and SF all over because i wanted to save the cost but I still want to buy nice hard wood. When I went to this store, I felt very welcomed by people who work there. All those sales person was friendly, honest, professional, very knowledgeable yet good listener. He tried to understand what my expectation about product & installing. He answered lots of my question since i have no clue of wood. He doesn't seem push to make sale but asked me think about more if I can't decide since I need to spend lots of money on this....I am very happy and satisfied that I chose this store. If my friends want to install new wood floor, I would say "go to 800 floors, you will give them five stars as I did !!!"

I had chosen 800 floors for our hardwood floor installation after obtaining estimates from several local business' in the East bay and surrounding areas. What made me choose 800 Floors was not only the competitive pricing that they offered on the better name brand engineered wood products, but also the service that Hugh and the team who came out to do the estimate showed. Throughout the entire experience Hugh always kept in touch, patiently answering numerous emails of mine, educating me in the process, offering his services even on the mid-week days he was off or after hours on weekends, always being his friendly self, and following up to make sure the customer is thoroughly satisfied, even after the job was complete. There couldn't be a better inside salesperson than Hugh. The other reason i decided on 800 floors was after meeting with the team of installers Noel and John. When they did the estimate i had a chance to speak with them regarding the quality of their work and their work ethic. To me that is very important. Noel and team showed up on time, early in the morning like we had planned, and eventually completed the work way ahead of schedule. They even offered to work through their lunch break in order to get the job done faster. Throughout i paid attention to the quality of their workmanship. Noel and team were very accomodating of some changes that i had requested, noticed some water damage with some of the baseboard trim, informed me and took care of it accordingly with minimal cost, and did the little things that i would have eventually noticed during the walk-through, without me having to ask them to do it. That was one of my initial reasons in choosing to work with them. They paid attention to cleanliness and took precautions not to dirty up the place whilst the installation was underway. All in all, i was highly satisified with the cost (labor+parts), Noel's quality of work, Hugh's service , their combined ability to work with the customer and understand their needs, and these factors and more made this experience definately one of my better if not best, home improvement experiences.
