I have known Sims for awhile, I'm not trying to date myself but it's been years, like high school. When I found out that he offers catering services, in addition to the Cafe he runs, I recommended that my friend and fellow foodie Angelo hire him to cater his party.
I saw pictures of all of the food he offers and he agreed to work within my friend's budget. I hardly recommend services unless I really know the person or the quality. He was able to worth within my friend's limited budget and provide a full spread of food that was more than enough for such a large crowd. There was even leftovers and it was a big party.
There were five platters:
Dips & Chips (salsa, hummus, etc. with bread, chips and pita)
Cold Cuts & Cheese
Veggies & Dip
Fresh Fruit Platter
BBQ Chicken Wings - a crowd favorite
It was delivered on time with the appropriate serving ware and plates. He took care of everything. I am happy to refer Sims and 7th Street Catering to anyone who needs food for an event or holiday party this season.
And if you think all that looks good, you should see his crab and gumbo. One word, dayam!!! -

The food is definitely improving with time. They now offer a daily special. The daily special ranges in price from $5 to $7ish. I've been pleasantly surprised with the good flavors. The fried chicken and catfish are a couple of my favorites so far. The side dishes are often fun items like hush puppies and fried stuffing.
I also recommend their fried chicken with sweet potato fries. The sweet potatoes remind of waffles, which as anyone who has ever been south of the Mason-Dixon line can tell you, is the ultimate side dish for fried chicken.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Considering the 7th Street Café (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) is still very new I won't be too harsh on my critique. I had lunch there yesterday and while the staff is very friendly I'd have to agree with the previous two reviews which stated that the service needs improvement. I waited over 15 minutes for my hot sandwich and darn near fell asleep at the table.
Described as a "comfort zone" of sorts the restaurant offers breakfast (served all day), salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizza and chef's specialties such as fried chicken and blackened salmon. They're open Mondays through Fridays from 6 AM to 5 PM.
After perusing the menu I settled on a Grilled Salmon sandwich with regular fries. All sandwiches come with a choice of regular potato fries, sweet potato fries, home made chips or a mixed salad and a fruit garnish. The Grilled Salmon sandwich is an Atlantic Salmon filet grilled to order with spring mix, red onions, tomato, cucumber and garlic herb mayo on a rustic roll.
When the food was brought over to my table I had already nearly finished my Pepsi. The waitress was very kind in offering me a quick refill. The sandwich looked good (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), but everything was just slightly off. The fish was a tad overcooked and extremely dry. The garlic herb mayo was a tad too salty, and there was way too much of it spread on the soft, fresh sandwich roll. In frustration I ditched the mayo-smothered roll and just ate the dry fish, tomatoes, cucumbers and fries.
I asked about their breakfasts and was told that it is served all day. That may be a better choice for me next time. I will definitely try the fried chicken on a future visit and seeing how Belgium waffles are also offered maybe the kitchen won't mind serving up some chicken and waffles for me to try. We'll see.
I've scanned and posted the entire menu in the photos section.Listed in: Give Me Justice & Give Me…

My office is like a block and a half away from this place and I wasn't planning to go there for lunch this afternoon. I was infact walking towards Subway on 6th and Bryant but I saw the sign and I knew they were working on updating the old crappy salvadorean food so thought I'd give it a try. I went in the grab n go area on your fight after you enter and they had few options for a pizza. I ordered one with black olives n sun dried tomatoes and it was very good. I took a to go and the girl heated the pizza but it wasn't hot enough but the pizza was very tasty. I also saw a bunch of take way fruit dishes etc. I didn't really go in the main area as I was in a hurry but will certainly would like to try their fried chicken as mentioned by one of the reviews.
Also not to mention the area inside is huge for a restaurant in SOMA considering the real estate prices so that's a big plus for a larger group -

Been scoping out the site before it opened. Then, grabbed a menu one day and saw they had Fried Chicken. The description says it all, so I gave them a shot. Service was a bit wimpy, but the order was an easy A. Getting a bed of Sweet Potato Fries as opposed to the herb potatoes, rice or plain fries is smarter. They gave a decent amount of chicken, and it's fried up really well! The juices were all retained in a crispy battered skin which makes you enjoy even the white meat like it's dark. The menu's been changed over the course of days, so I think they're still playing around with items. So far, more and more people are beginning to dine in for lunch. Would I come back? YES. More fried chicken and SWEET POTATO FRIES please!

ok I was there during the lunch rush to pick up some food.....and their employees was just chit chatting and disregarding the long line forming out the door, after 10 minutes of wasting my time I left. People only have 30mins to an hour for lunch, we don't have that time to waste. If you are looking to spend most of your lunch hour in their line then that's where you should go........

I was there for lunch and ordered their fried chicken plate. They took about 25 minutes to bring my order out and the food was not worth the wait. When I cut through the chicken I saw excess water and oil come out. I had never seen that before; I almost vomited. Never again, will I try to eat there.
