Since my first visit, I am completely smitten with this lovely market in the Upper West Side. Yes, the fact that this is where Joe and Kathleen (Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan) have a conversation about ripeness of mangos in You've Got Mail adds a little charm to it. But, really, this is my kind of an idle Sunday morning/afternoon... strolling about with a big shopping basket and taking time to browse all kinds of things laid out in a random fashion.
My favorites: fresh fruit stands (ohhh the cherries!), veggies (string beans and spinach bundles!), antiques (just for browsing.. very fun), honey (incredibly delicious), jewelries (love the vintage necklaces).... and so much more.
For me, it also makes a great date... followed by a 2-hour brunch @ Sarabeth or Good Enough to Eat nearby. ;-)

Every Sunday from 10am-5pm. Find great vintage dresses, meet the local farmers and sample their amazing sour cherries, the jams and honey are SO good (he brings some bees) -- the raspberry jam is worth the trip -- and the fresh sugar snap peas are fan-frickin-tastic. Gorgeous handmade jewelry in the back, and lots of old jewelry and furniture. If you live Upper West and have yet to go, what the hell have you been doing all your life?

I've been going to this market for years, and I've found many many different items. Some of their stuff is overpriced, like who would spend a G at a flea market for a mirror? Please...
I've found vintage T's, original Lacoste polo shirts, vintage button downs, sunglasses, metal hands that I use on my dresser to hold my watches, jewelry gifts, CDs, apple pies, cider doughnuts, fresh fruit, warm pies, baked breads...this place has a ton of stuff.
Perfect for killing time on a Sunday morning...you can find some neat things here.
This is a good place to spend a lazy Sunday morning/afternoon, the flea market is eclectic and vendors come from all over the city with various goods. You can buy everything from antiques to socks depending on what you're after. Definitely a place to drive a hard bargain but don't expect everyone there to be up for haggling over the price. Check out the indoors section for things of the more collectable variety and definitely don't forget to pick up hot apple cider and doughnuts from any of the local farms that are part of the farmers market it's the prefect snack on a cold day.
