I only came in here briefly when it started raining after doing my rounds at Greenlake in the middle of the week.  Really small cafe, so I'm not sure what the vibe would be during a busy weekend.  Caught up on my magazine reading and snuggled with the house dog (?) Simba (?) on the couch.  This is not a complaint, but weeks later, I am still finding white husky hair!

Gracious staff and friendly customers. I was there for two hours writing and had 3 wonderful conversations while still being productive. They are next to a dog groomer so lots of furry pets come in shaking their tales to say hi and show off their new hairdo's.

Starbucks was around the corner and I am sure they were playing STING or Dave Matthews; 72nd had the waterboys and James Blackshaw. I didnt know it was James Blackshaw but  I had to Shazaam it, it was so good.

I recommend wandering in with a lazy book, listen to some great music, pet some pups and hang out for a while just to see what conversations come in to say hello.

I love this little place.  When I asked if they were a dog friendly establishment, he said, 'sure, bring her in!  I bring in my dogs sometimes.'  So Ellie Bluebell got to hang out on my lap while I had the most delicious almond cappucino I have ever had.  You know it's a well made coffee when you order non-fat milk and can't even tell in the end product.  And this is NOT the kind of place to screw up the type of milk, either.

Their zucchini bread is delicious, and it's practically a salad, right, seeing as how it is full of vegetables.... justifying baked goods is one of my many talents.  Love the music, they played Jason Mraz and John Legend while my friend and I chatted for an hour on the couch.  Or, actually, LOAFED for an hour on the couch, just as the cafe's name suggests.

The name is a little confusing, it's 72nd St Cafe on their sign, Meet & Loaf some places, and then My Friends' Cafe on their cups.  I don't know but it is next to the Dog Spa and right behind Greenlake Bar & Grill.

Great owner who was very helpful and friendly on a sunday morning. He let us pick out the CD to play as we read the paper.

The pastry selection is quite limited though- but what they have is fresh and tasty.

This place has the best blueberry muffins in the world! Love the breakfast sandwiches, too.

It's tiny, but usually not too crowded.

You know a place is good when they are closed for the holidays and you don't know what you are going to do without THEIR coffee. And the other, well-known coffee shop across the way is a poor substitute.

I love this place because it is just what a Greenlake business should be: funky, artsy but not dingy or anything, cozy, and friendly. And what every coffee place should be no matter it's location: DELICIOUS.

And if they get your drink wrong, let them know! They'll be happy to make it right for you.

Let's say yes to small business and help this place stay around.

Mark (the owner) almost sweet-talked me into getting a chocolate chip cookie for breakfast this morning. Not that anyone usually has to twist my arm to get me to eat a cookie, mind you, but it's typically not my breakfast of choice. I compromised and got the zucchini bread--yum! Then I splurged for a latte--double yum!

Very cool space with interesting artwork. Plus, they'll let you pick what music to play (the girl behind me in line picked Cake--excellent choice!). The sandwiches on the menu looked good, too.

So the question is, do I turn my back on the other local coffeeshop where I usually hang out, and exclusively go to Meet and Loaf? Nah, I'll probably just go to both of them every day!

The perfect place to visit before a walk around Greenlake with a friend. Very cozy, a bit small but that just contributes to the hole in the wall atmosphere.
The coffee is excellent (Zoka) and they grind the beans per coffee order. The owner has always been friendly and personable when I have been in, and the prices are good. I feel much better going here than to Starbucks across the street. Better coffee and supporting a small business who is doing things right is always a plus!

Teeny tiny coffee shop that is big on flavor. Great coffee, scrumptious muffins, and yummy sandwiches My only con is last time I went in craving their BLT, the barista forgot the mustard which really makes this sandwich so good. Must like dogs (it shares an entrance with a dog grooming salon) and sitting close to people (good place for chatting with folks in the hood). Their decaf is awesome due to it being only 80% decaf!

This is a great place for an excellent latte.  I had a Double tall, non-fat, sugar free almond latte.

It was done just right.  Not heavy on the syrup so I could actually taste the coffee flavor.  And the barista was able to make it in a way that you couldn't tell it was non-fat milk.  The owner is friendly, the place is small, the food looked tasty (didn't try a sandwich but the man next to us wolfed his down in about 30 seconds).

It was fun to people watch out the front windows.  Especially the parents outside who didn't think that a 100 lbs black lab sitting outside would knock down there 1.5 year old daughter. Heh :)

All in all, I will definitely be back.

I love this place! Excellent coffee, great atmosphere, bangin' homemade pastries, and a super cool touchscreen juke box that you can monopolize for hours. The people who work there are fun and conversational, and I always feel like I'm part of the family when I'm there. Two thumbs up. Wait, three thumbs up. A perfect place to hang out and decompress after a run around the lake. Definitely a way better alternative to the big coffee chains that can be overpriced and under-awesomed. Yeah, I said it.

Insider tip: Alanna, a barista, makes the most bodacious cinnamon rolls (From scratch! With homemade cream cheese icing!) that you have ever tasted. They're unreal.

I've been living in this neighborhood for almost a year, and this is by far the best cafe I've found.  Zoka is around the corner in the Greenlake area, but the vibe is so closed off and studious.  So when I came across 72nd St Cafe and encountered not only great coffee but awesome staff, I was thrilled!  I hate being overcharged for terrible espresso (ie. Starbucks), so I love to support the local joint.  The cafe is small, but they have a great little menu where sandwiches, soups and chilis are made daily.  They also have a great variety of baked goods and have recently started offering gluten-free options.  The coffee is usually great, but definitely depends on which barista makes it.  However, the friendly atmosphere, great pricing and quaint ambiance make this a great cafe to stop in and enjoy some java with good conversation!

Having long since abandoned the hope I'd ever serve to inspire, I've resigned myself to being a parental cautionary tale. Parents? Note that Greenlake Community Center has its Easter egg hunts on Saturday, not on Easter. Hopefully it will not come to pass that you bundle your boys up for a gleeful Easter egg hunt, uncharacteristically arriving at the venue early, bags in hand, ready for egg reconnaissance, only to find you missed it by 24 hours + change, and get to watch your younger son purse his lips and say "I forgive you, Mama." Ugh. Assuming pluck I did not remotely feel, I suggested mochas and a duck-feed and hide-and-seek in the park. With much foot-shuffling and low-cast countenance, the boys and I trundled into Zoka.

We were greeted by a beautiful mixed-breed dog in a Zsa Zsa Gabor collar. She reminded me of Princess Grace, except she smiled more broadly, and more continuously. The boys loved her up and we eventually got our sh*t together and ordered a couple decaf mochas and a latte from a slender tattooed babe who patiently listened to my boys pout and complain and protest about the failed egg hunt, while I apologized and fumbled around. She said something warm and supportive like, "I think you just need your coffee." Then wait! It gets better! After ringing me up for 11 bucks, I dive into my pockets to discover, hey, sweet, I forgot my ATM card. I count out ten crumpled bills and say, "Whoops, I'm one of THOSE customers. Let's scratch the latte." She says, "No. You need your coffee." And lets it slide. I can't remember feeling this awash with gratitude in a while. She belongs on a stained glass window. She is beatific. I will be back, and I am going to tip her ASS OFF.

From there, our morning took off like a helium-filled pack of Peeps. We played hide and seek and people-watched and had a great stroll and found out that those red-eyed ducks actually have chartreuse legs. There is a saying "There's no such thing as small gestures." I happen to agree. Great truths and great hearts are revealed in the tiniest of kindnesses, and the influence can be extraordinary. Zoka, thank you for redeeming my troubled morning.

This is a living room away from home - friendly, warm, great leather couches to sit on while sipping an excellent coffee drink.  The food is also worth mentioning - great breakfast sandwiches and panini's (that's all I've tried).  Each experience with the barista's has also been fun and they are really good at what they do.

Barely decent coffee. Quite strange, in my opinion, they didn't have any creamer or milk in the condiment section. I resorted to asking the barista whether they had any milk/cream and he responded with a lame excuse that was on the verge of obnoxious. The cashier definitely contributes to the one star rating. She was totally flustered, embarrassed, and incompetent -  unsuccessfully trying to hide the fact she overcharged me. She couldn't work the cash register and came off as if it was my fault. Who says "yes" when asked whether a latte and coffee are the same price?

We moved to the neighborhood about a month ago--thought we had discovered all of the local coffee places (and discovered the chains, which we avoid--*cough*starbucks*cough*), but apparently we hadn't seen this one until yesterday.  My husband had heard of it through a Seattle coffee meet-up group, but didn't know where it was.

It's squeezed into a little spot between the Greenlake Bar and Grill (where we ate brunch), the Grooming Spa, and "My Friends Cafe," which is why we had previously missed it--but we were walking home and decided to give 72nd Street a shot since it had a neon "Zoka" sign hanging in the window.  (Zoka quality beans without the roomful of requisite laptop-gazers?  Sounded good to us!)

Their sign out front was really too small--we weren't quite sure how to get in, but they share a door/entryway with the Grooming Spa next door.  Once we figured that out, we were at the counter and chatting with Mark (owner) and his coworker (sorry, forgot his name) about coffee, the design of his shop (they're looking to make it more visible), where we were all from, etc.  Mark was very careful about making my husband's doppio, and his assistant made me a very good French press (there's no drip, just the press or an Americano--but that's fine with me!).

We sat down as more customers sauntered in, and Mark chatted amiably with all of them.  The couch was comfy, the view was good, the coffee great--and after the last customers left, Mark came over and talked a bit more with us, since we encouraged conversation.  He made sure he got our difficult-to-pronounce names correctly (he asked 3 times to make sure), and I definitely feel we got to know each other as neighbors during our short stop there.  Looking forward to going back!  They also have free WiFi, though again... I'm of the philosophy that coffee shops are for chatting, not for isolating oneself in front of a monitor (I do that enough at home), so that didn't matter as much to me.

A great local small coffee shop. Small no fuss and it's all about the coffee =and= the people. By far the best Americano in the neighborhood and to boot the baristas actually talk to you! They make recommendations and want to make sure you're happy with what you get.
