We came here to enjoy some wine & appetizers.
nice place , i like to wood panel ...nice admosphere pretty romantic since its not very loud.
we sat down & ordered a bottle of white wine to go with our meal. they star u off with some gread & olive good , this was good nothing special.
for appetizers the grilled calamri salad was pretty good & so was the mediterranean salad the dressing was pretty tasty.
can't judge on the rest of the food the salads were good & went well with our wine.
we skipped the desert & headed down the block for some ice cream.

This restaurant is so bad that I felt insulted by the mere fact that it remains in business.

Okay, our service was decent. And the decor was surely tacky and over-the-top, but a little kitsch never hurt anyone.

The lunch menu, a sliver of the dinner menu, is rather limited. Still, I saw a salad with shrimp and avocado! Cool! I like those things. (I chose it over scallops, which also looked good.) The bread was decent, and it was nice to have marinara sauce with the oil.

Our food came out. I am not someone who needs very large portions, because goodness knows I like to keep my trim girlish figure, etceterrrahhh. But it was a few leaves of lettuce with four small shrimp and some light dressing. Plating 101 was never a class taken here, because many of my friends had small portions on large dinner plates. (No one's plate looked well arranged. It looked like something you would cook at home while looking somewhere else and throwing stuff onto your plate. The fact that we got to eat stuff that looked like that was insane.) It looked weird and reinforced the fact that, contrary to what I had imagined, $11 was a normal price for this thing I was getting. It was legit a few pieces of lettuce.

The shrimp were small and a product of failing Seasoning 101. Way too much pepper! I was almost choking (and I like spice). Oh, and there was no avocado - one of the VERY few ingredients. So I asked and eventually received some avocado on a butter plate. Still, you have like two other tables seated and you forget one of the four ingredients? What? Also the soda (Diet Coke for me) tasted like a combo of soda and seltzer. I like seltzer, but I ordered a Diet Coke! Anyway, it was nice to eat with my friends, and we all had fun with each other, but this restaurant is a shining example of doing the bare minimum - or perhaps even less.

Well, they tried their best is all I can say.  Its not great but it's not horrible.  If you've been walking all day and all the other places are jammed then by all means grab a bite to eat.  Don't have high expectations though.  Like I said, it's ok, not gourmet, and definitely not the worst you can do.

The one area they do excel at is their service.  Everyone is very, very nice and super polite and helpful.  It's the food that doesn't blow you away unfortunately.

The food was terrible. We order three burgers and all of them arrived with raw meet inside. We returned them and we received them back with the cheese burnt and no buns. The pasta marinara I ordered was bland and under cooked. The restaurant decor is dingy, it is poorly managed and the wait staff is incredibly disorganized. I would often see people walking back and forth franticly. Our service was decent, but after we left paying 50 bucks for crappy food I realized why people were waiting in long lines at other places near by. I honestly think the hot dog stand would have been a better experience.

Stay clear of this place; especially if you want to bring in your children!  The owner/mgr should be ashamed of themselves. Zero customer service and just plain rude.  The food is nothing special.  I had to beg for a glass of milk for my 1 yr old.  "We dont sell milk", seriously??  With all the clientele coming in for Jane's Carousel, I hope this place gets replaced.

This place was awful from start to finish. don't let the prix fixe menu fool you. everything was mad bland. the anti pasta, steamed mussels, the undercooked "pasta", the chicken broth and raw vegetables they call minestrone and the chicken. i wasted two hours of my life there. the service wad awful. Our waitress was rude. we waited 30 mins for each course to come out and it wasn't.crowded. i mean how long does it take to serve soup. we got our entree before the pasta dish. everything was ass.backwards. we had the bus boys checking on us. and when we tried splitting the bill by three cards the waitress came.back and threw our cards down saying we can't split three only two. So we give her half cash.and then want to pit the rest on the two cards. she comes back trying to tell us she wants the tip in cash. Im only giving.this place a star cuz i couldn't do no stars. i could.have run this place.and.cooked better food my self. They were lucky we didn't walk out after the garbage soup they probably "cooked" with the left over.vegetables from the day before.

In reviewing my restaurant reviews, you will notice I normally don't hand out 1 stars. It's a rarity, but I honestly wish there was a way to leave zero stars... yes, it was that bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was one of the ONLY restaurants in NY that we didn't absolutely love, and there was good reason not to like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

My friend and I went there at 10 pm on a Monday because the line for Grimaldi's was clear down the street and they would be closing soon. The people who walked in ahead of us were only asking to use the bathroom and the hostess/waitress practically bit off their heads. That should have been our first clue.

I ordered water and a glass of wine. My friend ordered a water. When the waitress went up to the bar, she didn't order the wine yet, so I asked when she came back if rather than the glass, if we could see the wine menu instead. She brought us a wine menu, and then proceeded to still bring the glass. I looked at her puzzled.

With our cold bread, okay, so it's just a preference that we have warm bread, but still, is it that hard to serve warm bread for meals that are $20+??? They brought out olive oil and marinara sauce. I asked for butter (for my bread). They brought frozen butter. Yes, frozen. I couldn't even spread it. When I asked the previously snotty waitress if I could have spreadable butter, her response was "you'll just have to make due with it like all the rest of our customers do". Wow. REALLY??? That's how you treat customers. I tried to melt the ramekin of butter over the candle. Hahaha! Finally I asked the bus boy to melt some in the microwave. He did, fortunately.

I ordered the lobster ravioli. I couldn't eat most of it because it was that horrible. :( Sadly I usually love lobster ravioli and this was the first time I couldn't stand it.

My friend ordered the spaghetti, but she asked if she could have chicken instead of the scallops. Cheaper, and easier for the restaurant and the lady sort of freaked. Really? Wow, never heard of a restaurant saying no to that request. Whatev... this lady was horrible. Horrible... horrible!!!! And the food was disgusting.

If I was paid to go back there, I still would NOT!

I came with a few friends after an opening in the area. Two of us ordered from the set menu since it seemed like a good deal, and the other two each ordered a salad and a pasta. I was one of the two who got the prix fix, and the other and I ordered the same things in the end.

The mussels were OK, though some didn't taste fresh. The soup in the next course was bland. The small bowl of pasta in tomato sauce tasted good, but it was a bit too simple. I mean, I cook that myself all the time at home. For the main course I got the fish of the day - tilapia, which was actually cooked pretty well and tasted nice with the lemon. Overall though I was unimpressed. I had a little taste of a friend's pasta dish, which was spaghetti with scallops, and that was delicious. The olives on the table were yummy too. The service was a little "moody," there were good moments and bad moments so I wasn't sure what to think in the end. 2.5 stars.

Sometimes it's fun to do the tourist thing in your own city.  LOL.  This place was a fun stop on a fun evening tooling around Dumbo.  Why haven't any of my fellow yelpers reviewed this place?

We got the prix fixe menu with salad pasta and main.  I have to say I was most excited by the salad, tri-colore with arugula and endive.  Yum.  The bottle of cabernet wasn't bad, and the service was great.  The waitress was super friendly and on top of things.

    Poor service, even worse food.

The pizza here was just a fat loaf of bread with a sprinkling of cheese and tomato sauce here and there. The sandwich was also very dry.

The waitress was not responsive and when we asked for bread, she told us that we could only have bread with main courses. Eventually she begrudgingly gave us 3 slices although even that took her over 10 minutes to bring over.

I read a lot of the reviews about 7 Old Fulton and I am amazed at the ignorance of people who post on this site.  Before you read the negative reviews, keep in mind that most of the people who had negative things to say are tourists who were upset that they could not get into Grimaldis, so they were disappointed and they took it out on this really great restaurant.  I got news for you... No one from Brooklyn goes to Grimaldis for pizza.  That is where stupid tourists who know nothing about Brooklyn go to eat.

I took my girlfriend and our friend to 7 Old Fulton for her birthday.  I made reservations a couple weeks in advance.  The restaurant is beautiful, with art work and candle lighting.  Its a lovely setting and a very relaxed atmosphere.  The staff are incredibly friendly.  I read reviews of people who criticized the service... and what you have to realize is that people are assholes.  There is only so much crap people can take and I am 100 percent sure that the people who complained are probably giant assholes who want everyone to kiss their ass because they are a tourist.

The staff was completely on the ball, and super attentive.  The food was amazing, the wine was exceptional, and the service was amazing.  I pre ordered a birthday cake and it was the best cake I have ever had in my life, and beautifully decorated.  We had a great time.

After dinner, we went to see a show at the Galapagos Art Center which is about 4 blocks away and walking distance.  We caught the 10:30 Burlesque show and walked back toward the restaurant where one of our friends had parked her car.  The rest of us had to wait for a cab to drive back to Brooklyn.  We stood outside the restaurant hoping to catch a cab.  The manager saw us waiting outside the door and asked us if we needed anything, and then called us car service even though they had been closed for an hour.

I would suggest that anyone who wants to go to a real New York Restaurant, that is not pretentious, and down to earth... try 7 Old Fulton.  You will be more than happy!

Well worth the 5-item prix fix at $22 - figured we would treat ourselves to a bottle of wine on top.   I don't remember having any complaints about the service, and it was early enough on a Friday afternoon that we had the place to ourselves.

Excellent quality for the price, especially considering the area, which can be a bit overpriced.

This restaurant exists for one purpose and one purpose only: to catch hapless tourists who find themselves at the tail end of the Grimaldi's line halfway down the block on a 90 degree Saturday evening during the summer.  Because no self-respecting New Yorker would ever set foot into this petri dish of garish excess and untastefulness.  Not when you could just walk 5 minutes up to Noodle Pudding if you wanted Italian food.

Unfortunately, however, tourists probably don't read Yelp before they go out for their "Let's Go"-Approved Brooklyn Heights Day Trip, which suggests (1) loading up on designer apparel at Century 21, (2) schlepping bags of it across the Brooklyn Bridge on foot, (3) standing on line at Grimaldi's for 3 hours, and (4) finishing off with ice cream at the Fulton Ferry Landing.  Given that captive audience who find themselves in Brooklyn without any idea of what to do with themselves once they discover that they'll have to wait so long for pizza, this place will, notwithstanding its mediocrity, probably do well, at least during tourist season.

That said, if you are reading Yelp to try to decide whether to try this place for the first time, let me just say that it will be right up your alley ONLY if you appreciate the following qualities in a restaurant:

    (1) The authenticity of an Italian restaurant run by people who hail from Eastern Europe.

    (2) The old-world charm of an Italian eatery that looks like it was decorated to fit in with the other businesses in the strip mall at the Ronkonkoma LIRR station.

    (3) The warmth and attention of a staff who *really care* to ensure that you have a pleasant experience, viz. the creepiest dude you've probably ever seen, who eerily resembles Killer BOB from Twin Peaks, and who lingers around the place staring and no doubt musing to himself "Night falls, morning calls, I'll catch you with my death bag. You may think I've gone insane, but I promise, I will kill again!"

    (4) The undeniable draw of having so many plants, faux artifacts, and tchotchkes crowding the sidewalk in front of the restaurant that the sidewalk becomes nearly impassible, so you have little choice but to go inside.

If these things pique your interest, then by all means, enjoy!

In all seriousness, though, I do feel a little bad panning this place, because it's clearly a mom-and-pop shop run by folks from Brooklyn.  Unfortunately, however, the reality is that they've sunk way too much cash into putting together what is really just a bad little restaurant.  There was just no thought whatsoever put into creating something that would contribute to the neighborhood (as opposed to just making a grab for some of those tourist bucks).  Did they really think the neighborhood needed an Italian restaurant RIGHT NEXT DOOR to another Italian restaurant, and 50 feet away from two pizza restaurants?  Come on, now.

I have been accused before of being a perpetual proponent of "the underdog"... Whether this "accusation" holds any truth is still in dispute, but I must say despite the negative reviews on yelp, I had a rather positive experience here.

Yes, the decor is tacky, but in a charming way. I find the snobby reviews of this place to be somewhat amusing...first of all the "tourists" that come over the bridge keep your local economy afloat. Talking about biting the hand that feeds you! (Pun intended) Secondly, I'd be willing to place a substantial bet that there are more BK based "tourists" that come into Manhattan every weekend... Yes, BK is charming, but in my eyes in no way can be compared to the cultural mecca that is Manhattan. So in the most polite way possible, get off of your high horses!

Being a product of the over priced Manhattan environment, I thought the $22 dinner deal was amazing! My favorite parts were the soup and the actual entree which was a modern twist on the traditional chicken parm...it was the most perfectly friend piece of chicken I've ever seen in my life. My boyfriend also enjoyed his meal. The staff was all very nice and helpful. My only complaint is that the appetizer left something to be desired.

It was promising when we walked in. This restaurant has a classic old upscale Italian feel with rococo paintings, a nice bar, Romanesque ornaments and a few touches such as a portrait of G. Washington nestled in between the fake white marble caryatids on either side of the fireplace. Charming in a cozy slightly kitchy Italian American restaurant way.

Promising, until the food came, which reneged on the promise. We ordered the 4 course dinner, which would be a great deal at $22, but frankly, it's just not very good. The apps were mediocre, the soup was bland with overcooked vegetables, the pasta course lacked flavor and (cardinal sin) was not cooked al dente, the entrees were meh.

The over enthusiastic waiter overcharged us by $4 on the tax. I suspect this was a ploy to get a bigger tip, since most people often just double the tax. I suppose this place will try to milk the unsuspecting tourist trade that's overflowing from Grimaldis down the block and from Pete's next door.

In one word- Awkward. After working in DUMBO for almost two years I've had my share of long waits for food that may or may not be great. While the service was quick it was more awkward than being asked to scootch forward, a little more forward, while my legs are in stirrups. The waiter lingered with his hands grasped on the empty chair and stared a little too much into our eyes, the hostess berated my friend about picking off the onions and tried to convince her since they were caramelized she could eat them regardless of her distaste for onion, and when asked for a fountain soda, the barkeep/waiter whipped out a liter of soda and poured it into a wine glass. Classiness cringed at the thought of this place.

The decor was as though someone went to Brooklyn Flea and fell in love with wrought iron gates, old Italian statues, and a random unframed painting of George Washington that if ever brought to antique roadshow would elicit nothing but im sorry sir, you've been had, followed promptly by gut bellowing laughs.

As for the food, well, while I didn't feel as though I wanted to vomit I was quite disappointed at how large the garnish (piece of lettuce and two small tomato slices) was in comparison to the foccacia pizza.

Mid way through I thought about a glass of wine, while I didn't see Riesling on the menu I asked and was promptly, and with great assurance that Prosecco was better than Riesling. I don't have a quip about this because really I'm just dumbfounded.

If you're into overly attentive wait staff who look as though they are always waiting for a punchline of a joke that no one ever told then 7 Old Fulton is for you. Otherwise, don't get fooled by the cheap prices. This is not a 'that one time I was in New York and......' story you want to tell.

Not sure why there's so much hate here.

We both did the $22 prix fixe.  The antipasto to start was great, as were both pastas.  She got the chicken avocado and I did the veal...chicken was better, but both were decent.

The decor was fine, and it was refreshing to not be cramped.

Okay, a few negatives.  When ordering we didn't explicitly say we wanted soup (since there was no choice, only minestrone), and for some reason the waitress thought that meant we didn't want it.  When the pasta came out, the waiter said he'd be right back with grated cheese and never came back.  When my entree came out, the mashed potatoes were kinda cold.  Waa waa.

For $22 this was a great dinner.  Ah, and the waitress gave us the soup in a to-go container, so I know what's for lunch tomorrow :)

We were drawn in based on what turned out to be the lunch menu posted out front, ready to bolt when we saw the dinner menu prices, then told by our waiter that if we wanted to we could order from the lunch menu. The owners were very pushy and overbearing, and against better judgment we stayed. Two minutes later the guy comes back out, we're ready to order, he says we are looking at the wrong page, this is the lunch menu. We say, "you just told us we could order from the lunch menu." He says, "was that me or the woman?" pointing to the other owner.
We got to order from the lunch menu but should not have bothered - the pork was good but the eggplant has some funny metallic taste, and the portions were miniscule. Then towards the end, the woman asks where we are from. We say Brooklyn but not DUMBO and she lets off a scowl that was off the charts. Awkward is exactly the word for this place.

SO came here for desert because the ice cream place near dumbo closes at 10. This place is a little pricey, got the mango sherbet. Wow was it refreshing because it was a warm dry night. I also got the tiramisu. They put cinnamon on it, which gives it a different taste. but this place is expensive for desert. 8 bucks a pop.

On weekends, they have a great brunch menu. I would suggest ordering their linguine vongole. When we went during the week we tried their 4 course prix fixe menu. Food was fantastic and price unbeatable. The waiters were also quite friendly and professional.

Some friends and I picked this place for lunch because they had a gorgeous little garden, and we thought it looked like a nice lunch oasis after a long walk over the Brooklyn Bridge.  Quite unfortunately, the food and service was a disaster.  I knew we were in trouble when I asked the waiter what he recommended on the menu and he hmmed and hawed and then said with a shrug, "People like the chicken."  That's never a good sign.  One friend ordered the chicken, two ordered the BBQ Pork Tenderloin, and I ordered the burger (it seemed like a safe bet, even if it wasn't the chicken).  When I asked what kind of cheese came on the burger, the waiter said, "Italian."  Um... ok, I like pretty much all Italian cheeses, it seemed like a safe bet.  When I asked what came with the burger, he said it came with mashed potatoes and a vegetable.  However, after I ordered it, he said it came with fries.  It was going to be a surprise either way.

We were all ravenously hungry  by the time our food came out, and we had almost demolished two baskets of bread - which was pretty decent bread.  When we saw our lunch come out, the only thing I can honestly say, is that this restaurant should be embarrassed and ashamed of what they served.  My friends' entrees came out on these huge white plates with a tiny dollop of instant mashed potatoes, four over cooked green beans, and two little pork tenderloin medallions.  Um, last time I looked, this place isn't The Russian Tea room, if you know what I mean.  It was jaw dropping.  My burger was the only thing that was actually palatable, with the exception of the greasy undercooked fries.

When we paid the bill my friends split theirs on two cards and I threw down some cash.  Apparently the waiter felt very confident in his service, and didn't bring me back any change.  When I asked for my change, he seemed confused and became a little argumentative.  It took him a good 15 minutes to figure out my $7 in change, and it still came back wrong.  At that point I was over it and we left.

It's such a shame that this place's food and service is so atrocious.  It's a fantastic location, beautiful garden, and a nice little restaurant.  But until someone with vision and taste buys and redoes this place, we won't be back.

Interesting to look at the variable ratings in other reviews.  Visiting form Austin and might not have stopped if we'd seen them before hand.  We had a great meal.  Truly fresh oysters and a super scallops and spaghetti for me.  I loved the small amount of spicy cherry peppers in the sauce, really jazzed it up.  My wife ordered the Prix Fixe and everything was good.  The soup was especially good, rich and well seasoned.  She is not a big eater and she polished it off all courses.  Maybe some folks were put off by the wait staff banter and casualness, but they were timely and present and I enjoyed the exchanges.  Even met the cook, who explained a little about why the spaghetti sauce as sooo good.

Went for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. First, the menu and prices. The $22 price fix is unreal. Food was excellent. Everything from the bread, appetizers and entrees were very good. Service was excellent, our young waitress was very attentive and friendly. All in all we will be back, great find.

LOVED THIS PLACE!  We were heading towards Grimaldi's for pizza, when all of a sudden, the pizza nazi (seinfeld reference here, not a nazi fan) turned the sign on us as we reached for the door. CLOSED. Bastid.  Starving and tired...and cranky, we headed for anything that would serve us food.

Thankfully this place took us in and served us that $22 meal at 11pm. IT WASSSS DELICIOUS! We were bummed about not getting some of that famous pizza, but once we realized what a great bargain we were getting, we quickly changed our attitutes. Frasier, our server, was friendly and polite, made us feel welcome, even though we were making somebody make our meal at 11pm, he acted as if that was not a problem at all.  Food was good, ambiance was nice and location was excellent. Will be returning with my husband in August!

This place has all the decor and ambiance you want in a fine Italian restaurant without the pretense. Danny and Julia, the husband (chef) and wife (hostess) could not be friendlier and make you feel at home.

The price fix menu is a great deal and everything on it was well executed. The soup was excellent. I ordered the shrimp scampi, which was sauced with garlic sauce and cooked well too. I think fish is their specialty - the Branzino looked excellent and is finished table side by the waiter. The pasta dishes I saw all looked and smelled great (I had the bucatini included w/ the prix fixe.

The dessert we had were very good too, and the cappuccino was excellent. The happy hour crowd is also another reason to come here. Definitely check this place out.

I can only blame myself for this one. My boyfriend and I went here last night and were the only ones seated- on a friday, on a beautiful spring day. A huge warning sign; but we were hungry and my boyfriend was delusional with a serious cold. The waiter was useless- couldn't recommend wine or food; nor could he smile or pretend to be a person. The food was disgusting- all of it. Extremely over salted and mushy and fishy and inedible. I'm getting a little nauseous thinking of it.

Loved the place ! The Inside was so well done, and the outside area is amazing.  The prices are super low for the quality you get. If you go there, ask for Danny, he is the owner.  He is so nice, and will go out of his way to make you feel like you are old friends. Did I mention the food was to die for, great place, can not wait to go back! I loved the painting of George Washington, I do not know what other people are talking about.

This restaurant is a joke. I ordered the rigatoni with sausage and broccoli rabe and have never been so shocked at the lack of food for the dollar. Two slices of sausage were in the whole dish and they were the size of pizza topping sliced sausages. The dish was $13 and soooooooo not worth it. When I asked the waitress if this is the amount of sausage typically served with the dish, she replied in the affirmative. Its not like I'm looking for some meat-heavy dish here or Olive Garden sized portions. I just would like to get what I'm paying for. Avoid at all costs.

Really pretty restaurant by the water with a great outdoor seating area as well as a $22 prix fix which included a salad, soup, pasta and fish. The fish was very good but the soup and pasta were average. Right next to Grimaldi's and River Cafe. Probably wouldn't go again as it's relatively average italian but a good spot none the less.

Well for me as being a DUMBO native for years. I have eaten at the location 3 times so far and enjoyed it very much every time!!  Me and my wife awaited the opening ever since we heard " restaurant N wine bar". It has no comparison to Petes and Grimaldis. We met the  owner who  is the chef as well and takes great admiration in his work. The decor of the place is just amazing, from the arch tiled ceilings to the handmade bar!! As for the food, like I said no comparison to the local places. Finally a place I can continue to go to with neighbors and friends!!!!
