DON'T READ Yelp REVIEWS of 7 MILE FAIR. Go experience this place in person.

LEAST LIKELY PLACE TO FIND A BATHROOM ATTENDANT: There was a teenage employee working in the bathroom. This is like Aldi's having a bathroom attendant. Poor kid, those bean burritos vendors aren't doing him any favors.

BITCH I'M FROM MILWAUKEE: Words on front of a blue t-shirt in large type being sold by a vendor who "designed them himself."  File under category: Shit you only say in prison or the Waukesha Walmart.

HERE'S TO YOU TABLELESS BOOTH GUYS: I admire the vendors who have a DIY mentatlity and like their booth to have a "stripped down to the essentials" aesthetic. I'm talking about the dudes who back up their rusty pickups, lay down a tarp and put their offerings on the tarp, that's on the ground.

HOURS: Sat - Sun:  9:00 am - 5:00 pm (Staying open after dark would violate too many people's parole terms.)

Parking is free. Entrance fee is $1.50 per adult. $1.00 for seniors and kids over 12. Kids under 12 are free.

People complain too much - this is a flea market / swap meet... It's NOT a mall. It's safe and well maintained, better than most flea markets I've been to so it deserves 2 stars for that much.

Can't get enough of the $1 costume jewelry and inexpensive fruits: case of mangos for $5! Another star :)

I prefer to go during the spring-summer months because vendors fill the outdoor space; selling everything from chickens to rabbits, birds, and puppies. Lots to see but not a lot to buy because there's a lot of repeat stores and well, junk.

A must-see at least once. Re-considering taking children under 5 years - A. They may get lost. B. Tons of stores post "You break, you buy" and C. May be difficult to maneuver a stroller through the crowd.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing as Amy G, maybe it's the name.  Tetanus.... 7 Mile Scare perhaps?

Some of the outdoor stuff being sold, let alone being touched may warrant updating the old tetanus shots. Yuck! Rusty old bikes, a few nails sticking out of stuff here and there. Whew!

Two of my former colleagues told me about this place. They told me it was someplace we at least had to visit once. I in turn informed J. He loves looking at stuff and looking for old junk. Next weekend free, we headed to the 7 mile Fair.

It seemed like it took awhile to get there although it wasn't that far.

The place is quite large, hence the name.

$1.50 to enter. A few times I thought they should pay me to come in. It's fair I guess to help them maintain.

Didn't find anything I wanted or needed at this place, but I could finally say that I went.

This place is just like the Melrose Swap- O Rama in Melrose Park, but bigger. Same price to get in though.

I'm so thankful we got neither rabies nor tetanus at our visit to the 7 Mile Fair.

I gladly paid my $1.50 to enter the instant comedy that unfolded before my eyes. So much junk, on the inside, but the outside were where the treasures were at. Swords, live chickens (apparently it's legal to sell them in a parking lot), melted Avon lipstick from the early 90s.

    The highlight, however, was the most attractive young female they could find in all of Wisconsin, driving around a little scooter with an attached cooler full of beverages, while playing a recorded song that went a little something like this;
"Pepsi! Diet Pepsi! WatER!! Mountain DEW! 7 Mile Fair.. 7 Mile Fair... 7 Mile Fair, 7 Mile FAIR!"

We still can't get the tune out of our head.

We wandered into what USED to be quite an assembly of farmers and flea market items on Saturday, Feb. 26th.

Hey, didja ever wonder where gangstahs go to buy those L.A. style hoodies and street thug outerwear? Here.

Nothing but dollar store items and a crowd that often looked us up and down wondering what these whitebread middle-aged people were doing in their turf. It sure wasn't to buy fake handguns with laser sites that I watched a lardy young lad playing with (two, in fact) siting people in the crowd. Cute, isn't it? And putting aside the grimy VHS tapes for a few bucks and the knock-off cartoon charactered blankets and childwear, I suddenly knew that we weren't in Schaumburg anymore, Toto.

Unsalted parking made the ice terrible to track over; admission is light, I had to hold onto Mrs. B as we slid across to our car and hustled out... and apologized for it all, opting for a short drive north the the Potowatomi Casino instead (more on THAT elsewhere).

The 7 Mile Fair may host farmers and sweet-as-cider people in summer: I wouldn't know, but Jesus Christ, never, ever again.

If you ever have been robbed or jumped...you may find your old possessions here.  This is the Midwest's Black Market.  Lots of crowds, generic brands/fakes, minorities and random junk.  It's fun to check it out once, but you either like it or you don't.  Personally, I'm not a fan.

I think compared to how they used to run 7 mile fair, its deteriorating now. I defiantly like some of the bargains they have for certain items, but then again like someone said alotve it is fake. Its defiantly not somewhere id go all the time but maybe 2 times a year wouldnt hurt to stock up on hoodies and pants for cheap. I know some of the security team, and they are always quick to respond to any sortve disturbance, ive never felt unsafe there, there nice people. Alotve the vendors either dont speak very good english or are rude which sucks but if you have patience you'll be fine.

I'm grading this based on what a flea market is supposed to be like. I was very impressed when I went to 7 mile fair.  I was impressed by how clean it was first and foremost. I am used to going to dirty flea markets and this was actually very clean.  So 1 star is for the cleanliness.  2nd star is for the unique items that they have.  When we first bought our house our lawn was filled with weeds at 7 mile fair we were able to find a gardening tool which is a weed puller I have never seen such a tool and it was a bargain at only $5.00. 3rd star goes for being able to buy a beer and sit back relax and people watch.  Like Walmart  obviously flea markets attract an interesting bunch of people you have to just enjoy it. 4th star is for the selection of produce they have a ton of local farmers bring corn and tomatoes which are freshly picked and cheap even cheaper than going to the farmer's market. Lastly I feel safe when I'm at 7 mile fair unlike other flea markets. Furthermore there are tons of unique products like Mexican Candy, Super warm blankets (tacky looking yes but warm none the less and cheap) and even slot machines!

All flea markets are a complete crap shoot, it depends what kind of stuff you're looking for. So I grade them primarily on safety, variety, size and food. The grades for this place are good on safety, at no time did I feel unsafe , but there really wasn't any security presence. Variety scores a very good , there were alot of shops , but many had identical items. Yet there were people selling live animals, produce, and enough unique items to warrant such a high grade. They score a great for it's size , because it is huge. They have two large buildings chock full of vender's and food stands. In the nicer weather they have massive parking lots full of vendors.  As for food, I have to give them a pretty good. They had a few stands in strategic locations, and the food wasn't too bad ... for flea market food anyway. Hey, what else do you want for a dollar fifty ?

Not a bad flea market, Indoor or outdoor. You can find a gamut of places, shops, stands, etc. Sure much could be schlock, But you can find some even worthy items here too. Amongst the labyrinth of junque, etc. Finding a few items such as an old large 1953 US Air Force Coloring Book was a great find. Even finding some offbeat food items such as Green Tea Dots candy can be an experience too, Or an IGA Pop Tarts Toaster Pastry brand.
