This 7 D place is funny. Every day there is a new sign on the door that says something like:
6 hotdog
3 hamburger
Is this a message to the bun man? Is it to let us prospective customers that are on the way to Subway already know that the food is almost gone?
I have no idea.
I did, however come in for a gyro once. I assumed they wouldn't take credit cards, so I got cash out of the ATM. The lady asked if I had anything smaller than a $10. ?
I didnt. Tasty gyro though. -

I almost forgot about this place!
I had my first gyro here in Chicago and they have cheap meal combos - sandwich - gyro - burger - hot dog - you name it
plus pop and a side of fries
for under $5 - what a steal.
Service is mediocre, food is greasy, but for the price, it's just right. -

You know that place near your office that you don't really want to try for lunch, but eventually you give in and do it?
That's 7 D for me. I work in the building that's literally attached to 7 D's building, and I dreaded going here... Don't get me wrong. I *love* greasy hot dog/cheeseburger places and places where you can buy the whole menu for under $20... But this place is missing something. It's not as cheap as it should be, and WHY does it close at 6PM?
This is the type of place you need to be inebriated or starving in the middle of the night to appreciate. Why would they close before people even get out of work? It just doesn't make sense.
7 D... Even though I write this review now and give you three stars.... I know I'll come back to you some day when I'm sick of Subway or sushi... And I know you'll be just as disappointing then too. -

This place is ridiculous all around. To start, it keeps really strange hours like it will be closed after work but open during the day, but not for breakfast....you get the idea. The food is as you would expect a place like this to be, greasy hot-dog/burger/gyro..... but the prices seem a little too high.
I had a big sigh of relief when I saw they were tearing down the facade the other week hoping they would finally something cool would go here, but now the same super greasy joint in a brand new enclosure. I'm going to continue walking by....nothing to see here. -

This place isn't so bad.. But, it's also not the best hot dog spot around and not as dirt cheap as it could be. My hot dog and fries tasted alright, but not great. I was a little bummed that the dog didn't really come with a pickle spear- it was more like a thin shard of pickle. I kind of like the floor to ceiling glass windows jutting out to a point on Paulina= People-watching funnn.

I thought this was pretty below-average for a Vienna Beef joint. My burger was not seasoned very well, and they gave me a dilapidated-looking pickle slice that was about the size of a toothpick. I used to live across the street from Clark Dog so I know of what I speak.

This place is lame. It's not hard to make a good chicago dog, but 7 D manages to mess it up. Half of the ingredients are missing and the dogs are over priced. They also cant break any bills bigger than a $10. The woman had to borrow money from a cook to break my $20.
I have this romantic idea that old shady looking hot dog places will serve up the best dog but its not true, you definitely get a better dog at Gold Coast dogs or Portillos.
