And here i thought i had written the first review... http://www.yelp.com/bi...

I guess this result didn't come up when I did my name search for Dave's Warehouse. weird.

Well here is a copy of my review anyhow:

"Dave's fucking warehouse (located in the extra shady part of downtown) is about the most underground venue I've ever been to while in Los Angeles.

The stage is a fucking half pipe!!!!- through which you have to pass in order to get to one of the shittiest bathrooms in Los Angeles (no lie... think Trainspotting).

I enjoy doing some great people watching here.. and not just because of all the too-cool-for-school types that come to this venue (i've spotted some suicide girls in fact), but mostly because of that damn half pipe!
Its set up for total disaster... one has to cross this smooth curved wooden obstacle, and do so in front of the entire crowd of people and directly  to the left of the performing band. Picture as individuals (specially those in high heels) attempt to hold their balance while drunk!!!

don't knock out a mic stand and look like a douche.

Once in the bathroom (quite possibly THE shittiest bathroom in Los Angeles) be sure to remember the sliding door which hides inside the wall. I did not know this on my first visit and simply had a friend cover the door while i peed. good times. interesting times. met a lot of people that way.

The warehouse is  free, but they generally accept donations of $5 (which quite often become highly suggested and enforced the later you arrive at the venue). But cut them a break eh! they're good people... basically opening their place up for a public party!! woohooo.

There is a bar.. with your standard liquor i believe (although i have never ordered a drink other than Pabst's here).  What you should really do is bring your own beer (specially considering that most shows offered here are set up pretty much unofficially and you never know if they'll have enough booze or any at all).

The venue is a pretty standard warehouse... the walls have some cool art on them ... the top of the half pipe is a great place to watch the show from- if you can manage to be one of the smooth individuals to successfully climb up there without looking like a total idiot.

Out back is were the fun happens. Big pile of dirt (although they've cleaned the place up a bit... used to be able to climb it .. now its fenced off). Theres Some left over wood  (which they love if you can help them dispose of it-  my roommate took a few pieces home for some paintings once)... basically the back looks like a dump. Guys pissing, left over garbage, bowls being smoked, illicit business being handled.

I mostly hung out here over a year ago when i knew of a doom or metal band that was playing a show...and i have seen some amazing shows here (some so amazing i hardly remember a thing!).
I have showed up, however, on a random night once and not been completely disappointed.

i fucking love the good ol' warehouse!!! too bad i haven't been in quite a while. most shows i saw here were put on by overcast events.. now they're all at other venues like the mountain bar... i guess Dave must just be enjoying his half pipe all to himself. "

I love this place.  I'll elaborate later.  I'm kind of worried they're getting more professional though or whatever, almost wanted to knock a star off because they've been weird about BYOB and shit like that recently.

I don't really like many of the bands that play this place, seems like a lot of shitty Los Angeles "rock" bands kind of in the same vein as Darker My Love and shit like that.  I don't think anybody really comes here for the music though.  It's a great place to get reallllllllllly fuckin trashed and socialize.

I jumped off an amp places on top of a skate ramp here.  By far, one of my favorite places in the LA area for shows right before I moved away.

It's too bad that kids seem more interested on the most part in the local bands that play here rather than the touring bands.  But, whatever.  this place has had some great shows.

This place is straight up awesome. I rarely venture to shows outside the realm of heavy riffs and sweaty dudes, but I'm always down to hit up this place up since I'm bound to run into acquaintances and catch an interesting band. Seen a lot of good bands here (Fucked Up, Crom, Lack of Interest), and have never left this place without a smile on my face, and a belly full of alcohol.

probally my favorite venue, where else are you encouraged to drink, take drugs, break stuff and urinate in public; its all game here. However recently its been slightly sketchy, they use to not ID and care who came in, but now its "who are you here to see?" and "who invited you? Its a private party" but if you know what to say you wont have any problems getting in. a great place to just get fucked up and hang out with your friends. inside smoking allowed (definate plus)

I had a party here with a friend earlier this year. This place is small but still fucking tight. Amazing artwork on the walls, THE HALFPIPE, the scary bathroom/backlot, and the cool theater chairs.. What more can you want??

bryan m. totally knows what he's talking about. this place is great. booze it up before you go if you're underage, because they probably won't sell you any.

I like this place for the same reason that I love the Smell. It's a great DIY venue. They always have an interesting line-up of bands. The venue itself is small, cramped, and not that great which adds to the charm. The bathroom is pretty gross, as another reviewer mentioned. The back area outside is a lot of fun.

i'm really, really, really terrified that i'm going to have to change my rating to 4 stars or lower soon.  i went on saturday and they refused to sell alcohol to anyone but the bands.  they wanted to keep it "dry".  of course, we half-assedly snuck booze in and no one said anything when we were drinking it in the backyard.  the guy at the door was a dick and asked us who we came to see.  i know the people that put shows on HATE this, but i come for the party... not for the band.  although i do usually end up watching them and dancing.  it used to be super BYOB.  the bathroom looks like a scene from SAW.  fully equipped with a rusty, old bathtub and creepy graffiti.  there's a "secret" bathroom but i got yelled at for using it on saturday.  i've slipped on the halfpipe more times than i can tell you and i always wake up the next morning covered in dirt.  i love this place SOOOOO MUCH!  but recently i've been coming and thinking to myself, "what's happening to you sexy six? :("
