One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
wow! this place is amazing. incredibly well organized, really helpful staff, and GREAT prices. i've checked out a bunch of wine stores since moving into the city and i've found the lowest prices consistently at 67. they have my favorite cotes du rhone for around $10, it hovers closer to $15 everywhere else. they have a really diverse selection and tons of GOOD wines under $10. their hours are great and they always have tastings to enjoy while you browse. i can't wait to go back!
Decent selection, good sales, knowledgeable employees and multiple wine-tastings every week make this one of the wine shops I frequent.
Stop in and be surprised as all they can fit in a shop that doesn't look all that big from the outside.
With some time to kill and not wanting to do much more than browse, we crossed the street and stumbled upon a little wine tasting in the upstairs half of this Upper West Side wine shop. The offering was a selection of Austrian Wines and the vintners were on hand to talk about their respective wines and the climate and all the other stuff that hard core wine people talk about while I am getting tipsy from an embarrassingly small dose of alcohol. After what I considered to be 7 generous pours, and all the information my seive-like brain could handle, we had to leave. We were on the way to a movie and needed to have some kind of mental ability to retain and process information, lest those tickets go to waste. These tastings are a common event, apparently. That's good to know.
I've been here a few times and always have been fairly pleased with the results. I've even managed to walk away with some surprising finds. Half the time, I find exactly what I'm after, the other half I confidently take a recommendation and have yet to make any enemies over the result.
We're always looking for a rare wine that we discovered once in Sonoma County. While they did not have it and could not get it, they did point us to someone who possibly could. That always leaves me with a good taste in my mouth (and no desire to spit).
So come here with a plan (however vague) and if you can't find exactly what you're after, chances are good they can tell you where to find it or you might just find something new and unexpected.
Well, well, well 67 Wine you really impressed me tonight. It was roomie night tonight and I had the job of bringing home some delicious wine. I had just got done working out at Reebok gym and like a moth to a light i floated right on over this very well lit and attractive wine shop. Inside, I felt like i was in the hull of a ship, everything around me was wooden and polished as I swam through the numerous stacks of wine. A nice smooth and inexpensive Cabernet sauvignon was the object of my affection and taste buds. The store was hopping as it was around 7:00 so I had trouble making my way through the white wine section, which occupies the main floor, to the stairwell that led to the red wine, my domain. As I fought the waves of people I docked for a hot second to sample some delicious champagne from France, mmmm, tasty and bubbly and intoxicating after my hour workout. Finally! I ascended the stairs and reached the vast array of red wine. I was in a hurry so I doggy paddled over to the cab/sav section and found a bottle called "Hanging Leaf," the label looked cool and sophisticated and the price was oh so right, 13 bones, so I grabbed it and headed back down the wooden stairs to the register and purchased with my plastic. The staff was very nice, though I expected someone to help me because I looked like a lost child in the white wine section trying to figure out where they kept the red, until duh, I saw the stairs, however the vibe was cool calm and collected and made me want to go back for more, oh and you bet your bottom dollar I will. So go and try it out today...oh and the wine was amazing, a 5 out of 5 stars, not kidding.
Great prices for Manhattan. Still a bit pricey, but for Manhattan, the prices are great.
Huge selection, especially for Manhattan. There are two floors. Whites on the first floor, reds on the second floor.
Staff is generally pretty helpful. They're really friendly towards our dog so an added bonus there. When I don't have a free shipping code for ordering wine online, this is my go-to place.
Very broad selection for prices that neither gouge nor save you a bundle.
They've really done all they can with this space..... they crammed three stores' worth of wine into one. Red on second floor, white on bottom (where they have those cool rolling library ladders to reach the higher shelves), organized by region. And they have a *lot* of regions.... I even saw a dozen or so Loire reds, which is give or take a dozen more than you'll usually see elsewhere.
Ridge Three Valleys for $24 is the second highest documented price I've seen for it so far in NYC.
What I really like about 67 Wine and Spirits is the diverse selection of wines. It's nicely organized by red, white, and rose. Then, it's divided up by region - South Africa, New Zealand, California, etc. The staff is incredibly helpful.
Additionally, they have a nice selection of wines that cost less than $15, which is very nice for the budget conscious like me. If I could be drinking $30 bottles every night, I would, but for now, those that fall in the $8-$15 range will do just fine.
Wow. The staff really knows their wine. And they were very kind to me; someone who knows next to nothing about selecting a good bottle of wine.
I gave them my price range (it's a gift) and they gave me a great option.
Bonus points: free gift wrapping.
Excellent variety of wine and liquor at competitive prices. Great staff -- feel free to ask them for recommendations at any price level.
I have yet to stump them with a good wine from abroad - they carry a nice range!
I live in San Francisco, and it's damn near impossible to ship wine to New York. I made the mistake of calling That Other Wine Store to send a bottle of Champagne to a colleague. They never sent it and blamed the shipping company. I then ordered a replacement bottle, but they already shipped the first bottle. I called to cancel the replacement and they charged me a "restocking fee." They never so much as offered to comp me the shipping charge.
Compare that to my experience with 67 Wine. I ordered another bottle of Champagne over the phone, and within 5 minutes they took my order, wrapped it, enclosed a gift card, and got it on a delivery truck. I placed my order at 2pm, and my colleague received the bottle that afternoon. This for a more-than-fair $5 delivery fee.
I can't recommend 67 Wine enough.
DON'T ASK FOR RECOMMENDATIONS!!!
It was very surprising that both my wife and myself on two different occasions asked for recommendations, described the kind of taste we were looking for; were pretty explicit. We are not inexperienced with wine. But, on both occasions their suggestion were REALLY BAD! Now, it is possible that that both sales people had different taste than ours. Understandable. But, on both occasions it was stated that they were the "store's" recommendation. Surprising for a place with such a strong stock and assortment. My last experience with their Henri de Villamont 2007 burgundy was really harsh and thin-bodied. Such a nice store, but so far such bad taste in wine suggestions. But, here is the real point. It is important to choose a wine store not only for its stock and variety... but one that can "really hear" what your looking for and match your tastes in wine. Otherwise, it just a store with a large variety and stock.
Came in here to pick up some wine and vodka (we needed a lot of alcohol) for our pre-party before going out that night. We stopped in because it was right on the way back to our hotel. I guess being from California I'm a bit biased... I mean, I've had my share of wines from new zealand, italy, chile, france, portugal, blah blah blah. but most of them just don't compare to California wines in my opinion. I was disappointed in the selection to be honest. The men working at this store also stared at sabra and I like were aliens from another planet. I mean, I know sometimes we talk in that silly "cali girl" routine, but it's just for fun you guys. Geez! They like, totally took it seriously...like, omigod, how could they be so totally lame. Like, we were just joking and stuff. Like, Duh!"
What a fantastic wine selection! The staff here was really nice also, and it's kind of a pity I was in a rush cos I would have loved to browse around a bit. Nice Kosher wine selection too, many people haven't realized that it's not just Manischevitz any more! Slightly cramped but overall, pretty awesome.
Consistently good service, selection, and value. You can't go wrong here.
