This is where I fell in love with Chicken BBQ

    SITREP

First off, I love places that are open late.  I mean LATE.  How's til 11pm M-Th and 3am on Fri & Sat?  That's the kind of late I need.

    SETUP

After a night of full-on dancing on Capitol Hill (Merc or Vogue) or down at Noc Noc or even closer by in Pioneer Square, 663 Bistro fires on all pistons for me.

My food of choice is always the hearty chow mein (beef or chicken always do) and the crispy noodles.  But the BBQ honey pork is the ambrosia of the gods.  I get it all in boxes and I get it to go.

Can't beat a plan that involves me NOT cooking when I get back to home base and just want to engage in snuggle time.

    THE LOWDOWN

BBQ and Chinese, together at last!

If you're like me, when you think BBQ you think Texas, KC, or NC.  But now I add Chinese to the list.  That little dude in the back is a BAD mamajamma when it comes to BBQing pork and duck.

The lady helping me out was super nice.  Last time I was there I got a Lb. of BBQ pork and a "side" of vegetables.  The "side" weighed about 2 Lbs.  The tin container was brimming with sauteed bok choy, broccoli, and other veggies in a tasty sauce.  That fed me for a few days and was less than $15.

Their black bean sauce is also great.  Stir fry is redonkulously tasty and large.

The interior decor is not worth talking about.  This is another place that has great food, nice people, low prices, and that's about it.  Save date night for another location, come here when you just want good food and to hang with some nice Asian people.

Why do they call it international district when there's only one continent represented?

I've been here about 3 or 4 times and overall, my experiences leave me neutral about this place. But why have I come back more than once if it wasn't that great? Well, it's just one of those places...

Everyone raves about the chicken wings here.... I'm sorry but I've got to be the one to say it... it's nothing special... I honestly think anyone can do better in their own kitchen... I've had it twice and both times, it didn't do much for me... not to mention... I could totally taste the artificial plumping of the chicken. I practically ate the skin only and left every trace of meat there was on the wing. The meat of the wings just had an unfriendly taste that I just couldn't do with.

Their congee (pork and egg) is also just okay... I found that it was a bit lacking in flavor... I got it when I was really craving a hot bowl of it but sadly it didn't do any justice and I barely touched it. Usually when this happens, I could simply fix it with some condiments that are on the table... but it didn't do that for me..

Their roasted duck is a-okay... It's not the best, but not the worst... I am the biggest fan of roasted duck and I could say, this would not be my go-to spot for it...

Surprisingly, their Salted Fish Fried Rice is actually pretty good... Even though it's quite plain... as it should be?... it had a good simple flavor to it that made me continuously scoop more on my plate.

    _______

Recently, my bf and I came here, as we couldn't figure out what to eat and the thought of some roasted duck and rice came to mind.. So I suggested 663 because I knew they had the BBQ options with rice as individual combos... My bf got the soy sauce chicken and roasted duck over rice.. and I got the roasted duck and roasted pork over rice... What we thought would be a decent meal went downhill when they brought us our plates and we realized that they had submerged everything in the soysauce that usually comes in a cup on the side...
HOW COULD YOU RUIN SOMETHING SO SIMPLE???
Every single piece of meat we had was covered in the extremely salty soy sauce. Not just that, but our rice.... only my outer pieces of rice on the plate were white... the rest of it was completely drenched and brown...
We could barely eat our meal because it was so salty. Oh... what a sad night...
Guess I wont be back here for a long time...

Cleanliness is average.... not the cleanest place and not the dirtiest... However, I just HAVE to mention that they were closed for a day by Public Health for a few reasons... Oh, and one time, my brother was given a cup of tea with a piece of hair floating in it.... I guess that speaks for itself.

We went there for lunch and we're the only customer there.

We ordered 1 dish, which is dry noodle and it took them 45 minutes to cook it. It can easily be cooked in 5-10 minutes.

We wanted to order other stuffs, but they told me since the lady who cooks wasn't in yet, they couldn't take the order.

    So disappointed with their service.

We had General Tso's chicken, Fish with Eggplant hot pot, honey walnut prawns, and barbecued pork.  Everything was fantastic!  This might be my favorite General Tso's chicken in Seattle; it was sweet, tangy and crispy!  They also have a good selection of barbecued meats hanging in the front window; ribs, pork and whole ducks.

#Chickenwings here shut the game down.. I took nina's tip and damnnn did it pan out.  They are spicy, garlicy, a lil salt, and some jalapenos.  Excellet with rice. A freakin deal at $6.  Each order comes with about 9-10, depending on your appetite more could be recommended. I also usually get the Singapore noodles (bbq pork)  cause of my love for curry (good but not the best).

This is definitely a top 5 fried chicken spot in Seattle and the #1 for Chinatown.

Seriously!!!!!

delicious, hot, slightly spicy, garlicy, and juicy! How can you go wrong?? and with a bowl of rice on the side!!! it's just a great lunch or dinner!!!! Don't let the weird sketchy service get to you, it's all about the chicken wings :)

also, if you get something other than the chicken wings and you found it delicious, please message me, I'd love to order other items that are delicious!!!!!

It's midnight on a Saturday evening. I've had a few drinks. I'm feeling good. Out of nowhere.. hunger strikes.

    Me: I want chinese food.
    Boyfriend: Okay. Where?
Me: (already dialing 663) Hi. I'd like to order takeout please. House special crispy chow mein. Beef and egg over rice.
    663: Okay. 10 minutes.

We drive over to Chinatown, up Weller, stopping in front of 663 (who cares if we're double parking), run towards the restaurant, see a sign pointing left, oh yeah i forgot the right door is inoperable, run to the door on the left, strangely eyeball the bbq'd ducks in the window, walk in, walk to the counter in the back, pay $15 for 2 pounds of food.

Yeah.. you heard that right.. $15 for TWO POUNDS of food.

Talk about bang for your buck. Food was delish. And it prevented a hangover the next day.

    Thanks 663! You're the best!

I guess I ordered 'off menu' here. I just listed a few adjectives like 'chicken, crunchy noodles, broccoli, spicy, garlic' and so forth.  Except for the spicy, they hit the mark, it was pretty good....

The smell of Roasting Duck duck was a bit overpowering, almost on the level of 'butcher shop' stench.....

Let me start out by saying that the food was so good here, that I had dreams about it a few days later.  Yes, actual night time dreams.

My brother and I ventured to 663 because it was featured in the Seattle Met Magazine.  We were craving Chinese and it was 10PM and we knew this place closes late (1AM on the weekends).

We always tell our self that if you walk into an Asian food establishment and there are more Asians eating there than white people, then the food must be the real deal.  663 definitely offered that setting.

We ordered the shrimp fried rice, spicy chicken wings and egg drop soup.  Everything we ordered was top notch.  The fried rice was the best I've had in Seattle, and the wings were so good, we ended up ordering a 2nd batch.

In a city where good Chinese is hard to find, 663 offers delicious food, and best of all, the prices aren't staggering.  I would claim 663 to be the best non-seafood Chinese spot in all of Seattle.

Salted fish and chicken fried rice, green beans with shredded pork, wonton soup with no noodles, salt and pepper calamari, salt and pepper fried chicken wings, beef chow fun with egg.  Every last bit was good.  The chicken wings has a slightly sweet sauce on it that the calamari did not have.  Very cheap and good.

663 Bistro I worth trying if you want good Chinese for cheap.  They only take cash though so don't expect to charge your meal.  The curry dishes are particularly interesting.  It is something between a Thai coconut milk curry and Japanese curry. creamy goodness :).  If they have BBQ pork cheeks (they rarely have them) in the BBQ area type them - they are GREAT.

They don't always get the best health department ratings but they have much better tasting food than most of the Chinese restaurants in the area. (i live in the ID and have tried them all - many times).

Came in here for lunch with my coworkers the other day. We work in ChinaTown why would we not want some authentic chinese. We ordered family style and man o man was the 7 of us stuffed! I LOVED the General Tso chicken! Best I have ever had and the peppered squid (aka like calamari) was delicious too. The fried rice was really bland and flavorless. They also have a restaurant with great prices and tasty food.  On this day, we got got tomato beef chow mein crispy noodles, pan fried rice noodles with brisket curry, and deep fried cod with creamy corn sauce.

I went here a couple weeks ago with some friends after hearing a recommendation from a friend that the food was worth trying. To start, the service was a bit off; our waitress didn't give us much attention or seem very engaged. Secondly, I ordered chow mien because they didn't have many options for vegetarians, and wasn't impressed. The sauce on my noodles were slimy, in fact the whole thing seemed like it was sopped in a slimy goo which really grossed me out. On top of that, there were these squishy mushrooms, which I have never seen before, they looked kind of black- add the slimy in and yuck!

For vegetarians, I don't recommend this place; there aren't many options to try. However for the meat eaters out there, I am sure that there are other items on the menu that are tasty.

If you haven't checked out the China town in Seattle, do yourself a favor and go explore some of the restaurants in this area, just south of downtown.

Most Chinese food restaurants do not impress me much, but when they get it right...its on.  At 663 Bistro, they definitely do it right.  I'm a big fan of Jin Wa and Powell's Seafood in Portland, and this place stacks up to the quality of both of these local spots.

We went here for a late breakfast and enjoyed their pork and green beans, salted pepper chicken wings, congee and the house fried rice which was all perfect for a first meal of the day.

If you don't mind waiting a a few minutes longer than usual for your food, plastic cups and plate ware, and having your ambiance created by a stack of boxes of fortune cookies and to go containers, and love really really good Chinese food...give this place a shot.  Its affordable, delicious and I will be returning on our next trip to Seattle.

This is where I go when I get nostalgic for the Cantonese restaurants of the San Gabriel Valley in CA.  The large menu provides opportunities for adventurous eaters to break out of their 'usual'  set of Chinese dishes - presuming that's a problem. Some of my favorites include:  fish ball in house curry, golden garlic fried rice with mixed seafood in XO sauce, pea vines with double mushroom, lotus root with pork and salt & pepper fish.  The food is fresh and consistent.

I have only ordered the food to go, so I can't speak to the efficiency and effectiveness of the wait staff.  However, I do enjoy a decent rapport with the counter people and only have good things to say regarding my experiences.  Be advised, there is a particularly high density of ID 'entrepreneurs' that conduct business on this street. Don't let that discourage you, the knuckleheads are compliant and the food is very good.

    Solid food.

The roasted duck here is probably the best in the ID district. $16/ whole duck. They're plump, flavorful, and bbqed to a golden brown. Definitely delicious.

I've had other plates here and it's always been good. Portions are large, the crispy noodles are yummy as well as the pork chops and tofu dishes. The baked pork chop rice wasn't what I expected, but  still tasty and the rice was mixed full of egg, a definite plus. Nothing I've had here has been drowned in oil, like many other chinese restaurants. Clean, flavorful, and hearty food.

    Service is efficient and nice.

No complaints, good food, and good prices.

    Keep in mind.

All Chinese places aren't the cleanest, but it wont kill you. I am pretty sure you dont wash your hand 20x when you cook at home, nor do you label everything and place everything correctly in the fridge.

It is Chinatown, so the service, is HONG KONG STYLE. Which means you get food, dont expect service, it is realistic, but do not forget to tip.

    I gave it 4 stars
    1. the food tasted pretty authentic
    2. i had the wings, it was good, not too oily

Ate here late one night back in winter 2010. Food was served quickly, tasty and very inexpensive. Service was pretty standard for Chinese restaurants: Not great. If I would've reviewed 663 Bistro then, it would've received four stars.

I, admittedly, have not been back since, and I will not be returning anytime soon, until they can prove they've fixed the major safety issues. The King County Health Department has "glowing" reports about this place. According to KCHD reports, 663 Bistro was closed in March of 2011 for excessive health code violations and continued to fail return inspections.

Most Asian restaurants in the ID/Chinatown are not immune to health code violations, however, 663 Bistro has consistently scored worse than the overwhelming majority of these restaurants.

I come here often, I mean come on, I'm a chinese-american college student who really can't cook any type of chinese food whatsoever, what do you expect?  This place is great, it's open late, has good food, and some what okay service.  But you can't really expect great service from any place in chinatown unless your parents know the owners.

My favorite is the salty-fish and chicken fried rice, it's really to die for, just the way I ate it growing up.  It might sound not too tempting, but believe me, thinking about it just makes my mouth water.  It has all the traditional cantonese style dishes and they are all cooked really well.

The roast pork, duck and bbq pork here are also top quality (I know because my mom told me so) and many nights I am tempted to buy a pound of each and make rice to eat it by myself in my apartment (but I won't because roast pork isn't good as a left over).

I also like that it's open late, so for those nights I get off work late... or the weekends I need a place to go to with friends, this is one of them.

This is one of the better/ cleaner restaurants in chinatown, so I suggest you go here if you're craving some real chinese food :)

OMY, you need to try their curry!!!  Try it nyaow!

Alright, so they have a vast menu and I have not gotten around to trying a little bit of everything, but I have tried their curry, and I cannot wait until the next time I can order it again!

Okay, so their curry selection maybe takes up a fifth of a page.  And unlike a Thai restaurant where each of the curry sauces taste and look very different depending on what you order, 663 Bistro looks like it actually uses the SAME curry sauce for each item on the menu, just with a different kind of meat.  But man - I do not see a problem with this coz their curry sauce is oh so yummy!

Rich, creamy, and a little sweet and full of that coconut milk flavor!  And each order of curry is packed with so much meat that it should be enough for two people with appetites!  I have tried the chicken curry and the beef brisket curry because people have been raving about it, but I think the chicken curry is the best.  And it also looks like the chicken curry gets served a little faster than the beef brisket curry, but it's all good.

One time we took home our curry leftovers and the half roast duck we never finished.  I cannot remember if there was a duck curry on the menu, but what we did with the leftovers was heat up the leftover duck IN the curry sauce to make our own roast duck curry.  Can anyone say HELL YEAH!?!?  Delicious.

Ain't no thing but a chicken wing.

If there's one thing that sets this restaurant apart from all the other ones in Chinatown it's the Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings.  The other dishes here are all good as well, and the prices are bad.  It's really all about the chicken wings.  We actually got 4 orders of the chicken wings to go for a Super Bowl party, and let me tell you those chicken wings didn't last long at all.  Most people at the party don't really frequent Chinatown that much and had no idea what 663 Bistro is and were all like, "where did you guys get these from?"  They were all surprised to when we told them it was from a restaurant in Chinatown.

Good food, good service and open late on Friday & Saturday nights!  Big menu with plentiful portions...

Being our first time there, the three of us tried five dishes:  Mongolian Lamb, Geoduck Stir Fry, Eight Jewels Hot Pot, Salt & Pepper Pork Chop & Yee Mein.  Food came quick, hot, delicious and kept the tea coming.  We couldn't help ourselves as we checked out what everyone else were eating.  Everything looked great and we were satisfied with our choices.  The Mongolian Lamb and Geoduck(stir fry or steamed) were specials for the day.

663 Bistro made for a great Lunar New Year Dinner.

We must have gone on a bad day.  The food took forever to prepare and came out one dish at a time in 10 min increments. For a table of 6 on a lunch break, was a little frustrating. When food did arrive, it was hot and fresh so that was good.

I feel like I ordered wrong.  I tried to not order a typical Americanized Chinese dish. (Mongolian Beef, Orange Chicken)  Don't get me wrong, my plate was fine but others lorded the Sweet and Sour Chicken/Pork and it was awesome.  I know it sounds lame but I'm going to "typical it up" next time and go with the Kung Po Chicken.  Will probably be great.

I had my brother in-law order me a pea-vine in soup for me because I was too busy working and I was craving for peavines. When I opened the bag, the soup had about 4inches of solid hard oil, and the peavines were yellow and rotten. I had about 4bites when I decided that the peavines were so rotten, it is inedible.

-sad face- I am now looking for a new peavine restaurant.

Best Chinese food in the ID.  We go out of our way to drive here from Ravenna for takeout.  General Tso's chicken and roast pork are favorites.

    Two magic words: Pea Vines.

oh, and four other magic words:  Garlic Honey Pork Ribs.

It's more of a 4.5 stars to me.  The food here is delicious.  We came in for a pretty late family dinner the other day, but we ordered and were served in a reasonable amount of time, and everything tasted fresh and delicious.  In addition to the two dishes above, we also got the fried crispy chicken wings and the pineapple fried rice.  I was really looking forward to the asparagus fried rice, but they were out of asparagus :(  boo.  On other occasions, I've had the salted fish fried rice, the roast duck, and a few other dishes, and they were all tasty.

1/2 star deduction for being cash only and for the random old white guy that came in and was hassling all of the employees.

I had high hopes for this place as some yelpers said it was similar to food you'd find in San Gabriel Valley (S. Cal). I didn't find any similarities whatsoever.

Anyways, we tried the pea vine w/ garlic sauce, pork fried rice, wonton noodle soup, and some other dishes I don't recall. I was kind of discouraged to find the BBQ pork they give you is old considering they make it there. All of the food was pretty bland and was like so close to being ok, but missing the mark.

Service wasn't so bad. It was kind of crowded, but as long as you waive at a server, you'll get what you need. Prices were decent. There isn't much seating from what I could tell. I was looking for a HK style restaurant in Seattle. Guess my search continues. I suppose if you've never had Chinese food anywhere other than WA, it can be ok.
