Best chinese food in the loop, outside of Chinatown and Argyle.
I was impressed with their Cha Siu (Roast Pork) and their portions.
They even have salt and pepper chicken! Normally you can order one or two choices and it comes with (shrimp fried rice, chicken fried rice, or singapore rice noodle, all three are excellent!) The choices normally are Orange Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, Roast Pork, etc.
The prices aren't bad either.
Hands down best chinese food in the loop! -

My friend wanted bubble tea so we stopped in. They use powder in their drinks and the tapioca was pre-made and not fresh. The drink honestly tasted decent, but I didn't like the way they made it. Also, it was super duper dead, as in we were the only ones there when there is seating for 50, and felt more like a cafeteria.

Place is clean, welcoming and large enough to accommodate alot of people. Service is fast and done with a smile. Prices are great. BUT the food had no taste and even though I ordered a three item plate, it all tasted the same :)

Lots of food for a low low price.
The truth is I always feel buyers remorse after i've eaten there - I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME Ive eaten there. I've also gotten sick on 2 occasions.
You get what you pay for! -

I've grabbed lunch from 65 Asian Kitchen probably ten times over the past couple years, and have never went home hungry, broke, or sick, nor listened to complaints from friends or co-workers. All of which are good things in my book. My usual is the Broccoli Shrimp with White Rice. For a little over seven bucks, you get huge helping of rice and your main dish selection. Can't beat it. Never had a problem dining in, as there are plenty of tables. Servers have always been friendly and the joint had always been fairly clean. The bathroom can get a bit sketchy, but what are you gonna do? For my money, this is the place to stop when I'm in the area and have a healthy hankering for some Chinese food. Definitely four-stars overall.

This is my go to joint for downtown quick Chinese food. Always a massive portion, and usually pretty tasty. I love their Mongolian beef, and their pork and string beans is pretty tasty as well when I'm in the mood for a few more veggies. Their chicken fried rice is also solid - more than just rice colored with soy sauce. My only complaint is that it can be a tiny bit on the oily side, but for what I'm paying and the quantity I'm getting, I will deal with it.
I'm not sure I understand their math, though. The specials board always lists Mongolian beef as $X, but they never charge me that much, even when I tell them I have Mongolian beef. Whatever.
Beats the pants off of Lai Lai. And especially with multiple locations, there's no reason for *anyone* to *ever* go to Lai Lai. -

The place has nice variety, plenty of seating, the food is cheap and the joint is tucked away right next to the board of trade.
On to the things that I disliked about this place.
I paid nearly $2 for a 10 oz bottle of juice. Are you kidding me? Let's sell bread not by a sliced loaf, but in packages of 3 or 5 slices while we are it. After consuming all that salt and MSG the 10 ounces of juice made me thirstier afterwards.
And speaking of afterwards, about two hours later my stomach gets very upset. The Mongolian Chicken w/ Chicken Fried Rice did not settle well apparently (had nothing else to eat that day).
First came the gas.
Second came three trips to the restroom in one hour.
After each restroom trip I feel the need to sit on a snow cone.
I have stayed late at work nearly two hours now because I am afraid to be outside of a 20 yard radius of a restroom. I will be spending $10 on a taxi cab because if what I'm afraid may happen, actually happens, at least I won't be known as the guy who crapped his pants on the CTA; things like that kind of embarrasses me and I'd rather crap my pants in a taxicab as there is minimal exposure.
I also would like to mention the Chicken Fried Rice had chunks of either chicken or tofu, I honestly could not tell. The consistency, taste, and odor had me at a loss.
I'm tired of Panda Express but at least it's OK.Listed in: South Loop Lunch

For just over $5 I can get enough absurdly delicious BBQ Pork Fried Rice to last me two days.
You need more reasons to go?
Fine.
The folks behind the counter are friendly. The portions are huge for the money (and I'm currently an unpaid intern so I'll take anything cheap and enormous... yes, yes. Hardy har har). They have great crab rangoon if you're up for a splurge. Did I mention you can get like six pounds of fried rice for less than a pack of cigarettes?
Love this place. Great loop staple. -

Tucked in the back of 111, 65 is a cool little cafeteria/diner. Ample choices for food at reasonable prices makes it attractive, as do the selection of Asian style buns they have, filled with goodies such as curry beef, the barbeque meat (pork?) and ham/egg.
Portion size is more than plentiful, and pricing is cheap by loop standards. -

Greasey. That's how I like my Westernized Chinese food.
I gotta admit, it doesn't have much a selection compared to Panda Express down the street, but if you're looking for a place that's cheap and you don't have to pop Tums or drink Pepto-Bismol after an oily fix, then this is the place for you.
Portions are huge. I definitely recommend getting the BBQ Pork and using the leftovers to make your own fried rice.
And if you can't take in the grease, at least look at the cakes. Definitely pretty to look at. -

Unfortunately Im addicted to this place. Im there at least twice a week..
Good quality food, good portions at a great price.
This is the only Chinese restaurant I go to in the Loop...
For $7 bucks you get huge portions of an entree with a huge portion of a side... If I order the same thing in my neighborhood I'd probably pay double.
I always get the mongolian beef with BBQ pork chow mein...
they have great fried rice and the egg rolls are o.k.
the only CON is the food coma I get into when I go back to work... -

Huge portions and pretty good food considering it's served cafeteria style. I'd suggest not getting the pick 2 unless you can eat a small village. The fried rice was fresh and the chicken entrees I picked were spicy but flavorful.
On the list of spots I will visit again. -

65 Asian Kitchen is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the loop hands down. I have been there at noon many times and have never had to wait more than a minute or two to order. The food is comparable to the trusty Chinese restaurants in the suburbs; both the lo mein and the eggrolls were very good, as well as the green tapioca tea. Seating is never usually an issue here and the employees are very friendly! I highly recommend 65!

Fast, cheap Chinese food served in a cafeteria-style line. Plenty of seating and your portion will be big enough to take home for a second meal. This place is perfect for lunch in the heart of the financial district for anyone working at the CBOT or government buildings nearby. Although it gets crowded, they keep the line moving.

Blech. The food was greasy, the bubble tea tasted like it was made with powder, and the space felt more like a suburban mall than a downtown lunch spot. Not a favorite.

huge huge huge portions. I try to tell the ladies to stop but they insist on filling every square inch of their containers. lots of variety too, BBQ pork, pot stickers, egg foo young, crab Rangoon, baos, bubble tea, entrees, soups and even cakes. the food here is similar to panda express but slightly more authentic. quality is pretty good although a bit greasy at times. for 6.50 you can get a large meal. I don't go anywhere else for quick Chinese eats downtown.

Review from Janet E.
This place is awesome. The food tastes good, tastes pretty authentic (at least the singapore rice noodles do), and the portions are huge. You can get two meals out of the portions they serve up. Plus they are pretty accommodating to your tastes. I wanted the wonton noodle soup with rice noodles (it typically comes with egg noodles) and they said OK! Gotta love 'em! This place also does catering but the prices are a little steep compared to Chinatown. But its conveniently located so for the quality and taste of the food its worth the extra $$. The boba (tapioca) drinks are delicious! I usually get the pineapple/coconut flavor. Just the drink itself is pretty filling for a meal! Yummie!!

Very large portions, but the food wasn't that good. I had the orange chicken with fried rice. The chicken could have been a little more crispy. It had a weird texture and taste to it.

This place is some low end Asian food. You can do a lot better quality wise. They do give you a lot for the price though.

Ick. I usually don't get Chinese food downtown, and this place reminded me why. Bland, squishy, stale, everything tasted like salt and freezer. Yeah, it's cheap, you can get two lunches for about $8, but I can't imagine eating all that. You're actually better off going to Panda Express if you want cheap, dumb, suburban-style Chinese.

The best kept secret here is the Chicken noodle soup huge portion and its loaded with chicken! Really a good spin on a classic only thing is it takes a few minutes so if your in a rush call ahead.

If you're looking for good inexpensive Chinese food in the Loop area, look no further. 65 Asian Kitchen arguably has the largest variety of menu options in the area. They have all your favorites like Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Sweet & Sour Chicken, & Shrimp Egg Foo Young to more traditional dishes like Salt and Pepper Chicken. 65 Asian Kitchen is affiliated with the famous Sixty Five Chinese Restaurant franchise, with its flagship restaurant being an institution in Chinatown for decades before its closing about 10 years ago. The food here is delicious. Skip the egg foo young however because they pre-cook the patties and let them sit while waiting for customers so it is usually cold by the time you eat it. For under $6 you can get 1 menu item with a serving of white rice. For cheapos like myself, you can also save on drinks because they have a self-serve water dispenser. You will have to go to Chinatown to find a better deal! The place has a nice sit-down atmosphere for a fast-food Chinese restaurant, catering to its customers from the Chicago Board of Trade. Traditional Chinese watercolor art of mountains and landscapes cover its walls, balanced by the fierce replica of the Forbidden City gates really makes the diner feel like he is not eating a cheap $6 meal in the heart of downtown Chicago, but rather eating an exquisite meal in the heart of ancient China.

Went to 65 Asian for lunch today. Was really surprised. You can easily spend $10 on lunch in the loop. For $7 I got the "Pick 2 plus fried rice" and its enough food for 2 people. Its not 5 star quality (its served like Panda Express) but for the money, its a great value and taste plenty good for a quick lunch.

Food was underwhelming. I had the garlic chicken with fried rice. The highlight was probably the fried rice, but mostly based on craving. The garlic chicken was okay, but very uninspiring. Those who were with me felt very similar.
