I have passed this dinner I don't know how many countless times and have yet to ever stop in until this weekend.
On our way up to the mountain, my friends and I stopped in for one of their breakfast sandwiches, stackers I think they call them. I got the bacon and thank GOD I ordered a HALF sandwich cuz it was HUGE. It has the meat of your choice plus a fried egg, hashbrowns, onions and some other deliciousness all in one bite! Perfect if you dont have time to sit and eat a plate of this. It kept me full on the mountain all the way til lunch - which says a lot because I usually have a little second breakfast snack at 10am.
The waitress gal was really neat and funny. Very friendly. Definitely coming back here sometime! -

This review is only for their milk shakes. Our cabin was pretty close to this diner and we decided to run out for a sweet treat after dinner, so we came here. The inside is really cute, very kitschy. You feel like you stepped into the 50's with all the decor and juke box. Their claim to fame seems to be there milkshakes and I cant attest that they are indeed very good. My husband loved his chocolate peanut butter, I loved my chocolate, and the girls loved their cherry...all of them were piled high with whip cream and sprinkles. We will definitely make this a stop on all our trips out here!

The 59er is a cool little road side diner.
The BLT was good. Instead of toasting the sandwich bread they throw it on the grill with a little butter. The french fries were really good and the BBQ sauce was tasty too!
I highly recommend the vanilla shake. Get one!
Our server was nice and the decor is classic 50's. I will be back! -

Stopped by this diner after Leavenworth's Oktoberfest. The bright colors of the diner is a big attraction. They have this family style buffet in a way on Sundays. Where they pull out everything on the menu but serve you portions. This includes all the breakfast necessities. I personally liked the scrambled eggs, the Italian scrambled eggs, and the 59er classic are to die for. It has so much flavor!

We had a large group of us stay in three of their cabins behind the diner. Seven Adults and five kids. We all had a great time. The owner and his staff went out of their way to ensure our satisfaction with our weekend getaway.
The cabins are fairly basic and the setting is not the greatest but it's close to Leavenworth and not too far from the pass so it's fine.
We stayed in the Roy's Knotty Cabin. Which was themed after 50's cowboy Roy Rogers and the like. I thought the room was really cute without going too far over the top. The cabin was clean, spacious (for two people) and very comfortable.
The first night the owner invites us to an impromptu bon fire. It was huge! Many cocktails were consumed and the evening turned into a crazy game of wiffle ball on a sandy volleyball court near the bon fire. A drunken good time was had by all.
We ate at the dinner for breakfast and lunch the following day. My chicken fried stake and eggs were just the greasy goodness I expected. Lunch was pulled pork sandwich that was definitely better than average. We rounded out our dining experience with a chocalate milkshake which was good.
I'd definitely recommend this place. Just keep in mind that you're not on a lake or have a good view of any kind...but other than that it's a good deal. We had a great weekend there. -

We stopped here on our way to the Beaver Valley Lodge because it's one of the few options available on the highway. I liked the diner theme and the fact that they had it decorated with a lot of 50's classics (mini jukeboxes, rotary phones, old school shake makers, etc.) I got a BLT and the bacon was really crispy and the bread was toasted perfectly. I love the choice of curly fries with the sandwich and I got them and they were delish! I had to get a shake (what they're known for really) so I went with the classic vanilla and it was great! They put those shakes on the machine for a good 5 minutes so they are really creamy and have the perfect consistency - yum! All in all it was a great first stop on our fun filled Oktoberfest weekend!

On our way to Mountain Springs Lodge, we had heard a few things about 59er Diner, so my bf and I decided to drop by since we were starving...and my goodness, I think I fell in love with this place!
I read some of the other reviews about this place about people saying it was loud, crowded and small, but I think they do an amazing job for such a small joint. My experience was the COMPLETE opposite though, so I have no idea what those whiners are talking about. The peppy staff made our experience so at-home that we had to drop by again on our way home from the lodge.
The staff is soooo down to earth, the food came out quickly (given, I did come on a weekday unlike most people that probably drop by on weekends), and the food was delicious! I saw that people were complaining about prices..but whats the difference from going here than any other burger joint (not counting fast food)? and PLEASE remember that shipping goods isn't as easy getting here either!
On our first trip here, I got the Bill Baily (burger meat on sourdough) and it was SOooOo good, and it came with potato chips, and my bf got the pulled pork burger, and it was just as tasty! to top it off, we shared a Chocolate shake, and I don't care what other people say, but their shakes are definitely bomb-tastic! This came out to right above 20 bucks. not to shabby in my opinion.
Day 2
On our way back from the lodge, we hit up 59er Diner and Flo (the waitress from the previous day) was there again! We were still itching to get some adventure in before heading home so she gave us some great insight about what to do in the local area, so in the end, we decided to go rent 2 snowmobiles. We ate up (chicken strips: come with 2 giant pieces and fries, and also got a jalapeno burger) and then suited up for our adventure! Oh..and once again..food was awesome and darn filling. I know some people think the portions are small..but maybe you're just...big..........
Snowmobile rentals: 2 people from 11am to 4pm is ~ $180
After signing our life away on paper, Joe (the owner I believe) lent us helmets, he gave us the run through of how to work the awesome machine, and then we were off on our snowmobiling journey! The snowmobiles might look old, but they got a good kick to them! and the path that they let us go on has tons of places to ride around on! the freedom was soo nice
Overall...I LOVE this place. I wish it was closer to home..although, I guess that would ruin the ambiance of it right? haha anyway, I will undoubtedly be back. The staff is amazing, the food is great, and it isn't just your everyday diner! it's filled with activities! and fun old 50's decoration =)
PS. oh and before I forget..the bathrooms are NOT outhouses..They're typical restrooms that are part of the restaurant with 50's decorations. And another thing..I got to peak at the rooms they rent out, and they're so cozy and cute! it ain't 5 star and not like our room in Mountain Spring Lodge, but I'm still totally digging it, and would love to come back and spend the night.

This is everything I want a little diner like this to be - Great diner style food, a great amount of self confidence in their food (especially their shakes/malts) and all around good times.
After having some bad experiences at other not as good diners in my Washington travels this place was a godsend. -

59er Diner is an alright place to go if you're hungry en route to Leavenworth. There aren't many places to stop for food, but this is one of them. It's 50s themed with cutouts of Marilyn Monroe and James Dean in the bathrooms, cheap burgers and crinkle cut fries, and decent milkshakes. Service was decent too. Not a place I'd ever go to in Seattle, but when you've nowhere else to eat en route to Leavenworth, this'll do.

On the way through to camping in the Lake Chelan area we stopped here at this diner. The Diner is kinda cute, all of the male servers are named "Joe" and all the females are named "Flo" except for one who seemed to be named "Soda Jerk". I didn't get it.
Either way, the diner is really fun. The milkshakes deserve to be "World Famous" if they aren't already. I had a blueberry shake, and it had real blueberries in it; Furthermore it actually tasted like blueberry, as opposed to sometimes when it had blueberries but still tastes like cold sugar milk. I think I would stop here again on the way through when camping. I like it. -

Best Milkshakes on the planet, but service needs an upgrade. Sat in a table right next to the kitchen door (swings like an old saloon door) and waited for 15 minutes for server to acknowledge us. Pretty buy but really only 7 or 8 tables/booths w/3 or 4 servers but still took 30 more minutes to get our food.

When you've spent the weekend camping, hiking, not showering and eating food made on a camp stove, sometimes on your way home you just want to find a friendly place with familiar food and fast service.
If you're looking for that in the Leavenworth area, then 59er Diner is the spot.
It's a quaint little diner actually located in Coles Corner, which is about 15 minutes west of Leavenworth (or what may seem like an eternity with two hungry 9 year olds in the back seat [and/or one hungry Alyson in the passenger seat]).
Flo is amazingly chipper, but no so much as to be annoying (unless maybe you're hungover). They don't serve breakfast (they open at 11), but they serve biscuits and gravy and some mighty tasty diner fare. The menu was quite extensive and all those tasty sounding choices kept me from making up my mind in a timely manner despite how hungry I was by the time we got to the 59er. The portions are more than acceptable considering the low prices (2 adults, 2 kids for about $30 before tip = FTW).
I thought that the curly fries were a bit under-seasoned, but I don't think the gentlemen in my group had many complaints considering how quickly they cleaned almost every *speck* of food out of their baskets. The fish portion of my fish and chips was battered and fried to the perfect consistency and the tartar sauce was as good as one could hope for.
If you haven't paid attention so far, here are some things you should note: if you're an early riser or must have breakfast food on a menu to make you happy, the 59er isn't going to make you happy.
P.S. Apparently their milkshakes are World Famous. They sold, like, 23K last year.Listed in: *EAT AT JOE'S*

Review from Val M.
In the middle of nowhere Washington aka Leavenworth sits a small old fashioned 50's themed diner. After a long fun wedding weekend we stopped at the diner before heading back over the pass to Seattle. As soon as I walked through the door I was overwhelmed by the Elvis paraphernalia and the loud juke box. However, I was tired and just wanted some breakfast in my tummy for the ride home. Our overly peppy waitress (properly named Flo) informed me that I would only need one pancake because they were large. I thought to myself how large can a pancake be. Well, at the 59er Diner they are LARGE!
My pancake arrived and was bigger than my plate! It was hanging over the sides. (see photo). The pancake turned me and my breakfast into a spectacle as fellow diners stopped by to see the girl with the HUGE pancake. I was completely grossed out and only ate a small hole out of the middle. That's all I can really say about it , it wasn't tasty ...just large. My friends egg scramble was okay and there coffee shake was just okay.
Next time I'm in town I will back track to the Anjou bakery to grab breakfast instead of going to the 59er diner. I am still traumatized and haven't been able to eat a pancake since. -

World Famous Milkshakes? Hardly. But they're good alright. Also where they make a hefty profit (yikes!).
This place is teeny - don't come with a group.
The food is simple but not cheap, service is great though. We stopped in on our way to go camping, but opted for the Squirrel Tree on way back. The decor and music is fun...but definitely a place to be "in the mood" for. -

Last week marked my parents' yearly visit to the Pacific NW to see their two lovely daughters. We rented a cabin about 30 minutes north of Leavenworth so we were literally in the middle of the woods. Not too many dining choices out there. Luckily, the 59er Diner was at the intersection of Hwy 2 and the turnoff to get to our cabin. We hit up the diner our first night in town. Normally I find these 50's style diners to be annoying but this place is actually pretty cute and homey. The walls are plastered with pics from the era and the jukebox if full of old tunes as well.
I wasn't super hungry when we arrived (thanks to all those snacks Mom brought from home) so I split a veggie burger with my sister. That was one damn good veggie burger. I couldn't even start to tell you what made it so good because it's a pretty simple meal. The bun was really soft and fresh and the cheese was perfectly melted on top of the patty. Mom and Dad got milkshakes and they were very tasty. Once again, something pretty simple but pretty good.
If I ever find myself travelling through the area again I will make it a point to eat here. I'd recommend stopping here if you're on your way into Leavenworth and are hungry. You will probably drop fewer bills here than at any restaurant in downtown Leavenworth. -

Wow... the worst restaurant experience of my entire life. We went here on a snowboarding/cabining trip up from Seattle. I was with a group of five and a 1 year old. We arrived around 1000 and waited outside for about thirty minutes. That's not the bad part, because we saw the line and the size of the place and knew we would be waiting for a while. Here comes the bad parts...
The waitress comes to take our drink orders. One of us orders a fairly uncomplicated latte thing and while she's ordering what she wants, the waitress zones out... then has to ask, "I'm sorry could you repeat that, I got caught up on other things I was hearing." I ordered milk for myself. I didn' see it until an hour later. When she took our food order (half an hour after our drink order, and ten minutes after we got water for the table, still no napkins or silverware) it was about 1055. They stop serving breakfast at 1100 but that's what we came here for dang it! So four of us order breakfast food and one of us tries to order off the lunch menu. No go, it's 1059 and she will have to settle for the "boring ol' pancake" which ended up being the size of her head put together twice.
We wait longer. Finally the food starts coming out. First plate is fine, second one, something we didn't order. The next two plates she brings out are wrong as well. She finally gives one of us an incorrect plate and says, "You're food is on the way, I saw it, but this might be okay to start on for now, right?"
This entire time I have been sitting in my booth, I have noticed the 50's-ish themed bubblegum and pop music playing and while it's something I usually like, for some reason (maybe because I was highly annoyed) it was really grating on my nerves. The final moment of incredulousness I had was when the lollypop song got ridiculously loud right in our ears. We were having to shout just to be heard! It was at this point that we all just started laughing because of how ridiculous the entire experience had been.
2 hours and 15 minutes later, we had finally gotten and finished all of our food (which was just okay, not bad, but not that good either). The one thing I will say for them was they comped our entire meal, which was very cool, and gave us a 50 dollar gift card. That MIGHT be enough to boost them to a two star rating, but I think you realize how bad it really was for them to do all that for us. Not only that, the waitress kept coming over and telling us how sorry they were. That is nice to hear the first two times, but she must have spent twenty minutes coming back over to apologize and make up yet another excuse for why the service had been so awful. We just gave the gift card to a mother of three that walked in the diner. We were gonna come back again. -

Growing up in Wenatchee (well, for middle and high school), my parents and I occasionally needed to make trips over to the "civilized" side of the state for various necessities. Sometimes, you need garb that's more stylish than what you can pick up at the local JCPenneys or the Cenex Ag Supply store.
But I digress. The 59er Diner was a great "refueling stop" in the middle of nowhere, just before Stevens Pass.
More recently, I've hit up the 59er Diner several times while visiting a good high school friend's cabin near Lake Wenatchee. The greasy food is very good for what it is, and there's a good variety of it. Plus, the prices are pretty reasonable.
Probably one of the best establishments around Lake Wenatchee/Stevens Pass. -

Me and my Dad went to this lil' place while visit a friend that lives near by. He suggested we hit that up for dinner so all three of us went. It is a small quaint place. I think it's pretty cozy and I enjoy diners.
They have a good selection of meals to pick from. I had the 'beef dip' and a chili potato. It was REALLY good dip one of the better ones I've had. My dad and our friend had the pulled pork and that was gone, plates cleared. Then we HAD to try the milkshakes. Yes. They were awesome! I shoulda got a malt but I settled for a butterscotch.
When/if I come back through I'll try their spaghetti! -

The only reason we went to this place was we got a Groupon for $89 - it included 2 nights at the 59er Diner Cabin and a $10 breakfast coupon so it was a pretty good deal. The cabin we stayed in was called Paradise. It was a little cheesy, but cute. The best part of it was there's a private hot tub (but not the cleanest) in the back that we got to use, such a plus! The banana pancake was incredible and I would've definitely given that a 5/5 star! The staff was also SO friendly!! We'll be back!!

I've been going to 59er Diner for years whenever we head over the pass. I've almost always gone with a big group and they are always accommodating and friendly. The service is great, the food is great and the milkshakes are phenomenal. You're meal can get a bit pricey if you add a milkshake and/or onion rings (but both are worth it!) I've never had a bad experience here! I love this place! The only thing is that depending on when you go, you might have to wait a bit, but you'll be glad you did!

The sign says "Home of the two napkin burger". I'm thinking this place has juicy burgers. If the sign says it...Well, mine so was dry I almost ordered a side of mayo! My husband used his leftover thousand island dressing on his...I want a 5 napkin burger, might actually be some juice left in the patty!
All the burgers are served with potato chips. I don't know about you, but I never said "you know what I'm craving? A burger with...chips". Seriously, $1.99 to substitute for fries? $2.99 for onion rings or a side salad. Neither the onion rings nor the side salad were worth the $2.99 "upgrade".
Kids meals are decently priced at $4.99 and come with chips (surprise, surprise) or carrot sticks, but don't include a drink. Really? Another $2 for a kids' size milk shake, which they're famous for?? Oh, and they were brought to the wrong table.
The wait staff (all of whom are wearing Flo nametags) really made you feel how busy they were. They ran back and forth like they were in a speed-walking contest.
Lunch took 1.5 hours for us to be seated, order, eat and leave. For a place that's more of a "on your way" kinda diner, that's too long. And for the staff to be acting so crazy busy: calm down. -

I was there for 40 minutes and never saw any food come out of the kitchen. The tables were filling up and no one was eating. Then I find out the server forgot to put my order in the fancy computer thing and I didn't have another hour to wait for a sandwich so I left without eating. Don't make the mistake!

"world famous"? not a chance. I have had better mikeshakes at fast food joint. the service was really slow, the restrooms are outhouses and the prices are very expensive. and a whole bunch of hand written rules about where to order and were to sit. the whole place was dirty. I guess if you just came from camping, this place would be golden. other, I wouldn't stop here again.

I don't write bad reviews ever but I am so frustrated with the poor service at this establishment. We made reservations to stay in one of their cabins and just found out, hours before we are heading out, that they have messed up and don't have a cabin for us. They sent us to a lodge for the same price (but only one room and do not allow dogs and turned out to be more expensive!). There are many reasons to be frustrated and I am not sure they even understand how much this disrupts our day and our plans. First of all, paying the same price for more than 1/2 of what you expected is annoying. We had planned to make dinner and now we have to go out (more money). It's also not easy to find a place that allows dogs or a dog sitter with 2hrs. notice. The fact that they didn't see this as an inconvenience is mind boggling. If you rent out rooms or cabins, the job is to make sure there are no over-bookings. If that can't be done correctly, maybe its a good thing we won't be staying there. Sadly, they just lost customers who love to get out of town for a weekend. I do understand that accidents happen but the way they are handled is key. Well, we will never try to stay here again.

OK, we went there on a Groupon deal and had a blast. Owner is crazy friendly as are his staff. They will do ANYTHING to please you. We stayed in the Big Bopper cottage. Basic, fun decor, super clean and warm (this cottage only has DVD, others with cable). The diner is a trip into genuine nostalgia (circa 1950s). More real stuff than you can imagine. Had a complete Christmas tree on the ceiling with presents in the diner. Food was excellent and they sell 10s of thousands of milkshakes per year. Snow shoeing, snow mobile, and bike rentals. Did I tell you they would do ANYTHING to make you happy. One couple wanted to cook something in their room but they only have microwave and fridge. So owner cooked up the food for them - no charge. In the Summer they have a big Elvis event and I will definitely be coming back to have another fun and affordable weekend.

Milkshakes are the way to go along with their burger with either curly fries or onion rings. YUM! Allison was really friendly, helpful and makes the best shakes! They know the best local places to visit and are positive folks. Great place to stop on the way or even stay in their bungalows. Great 'roughing it' experience that will make you forget your worries and all else going on back at home. Thank you 59'er!

After six hours of driving & not being able to stop in the town of Leavenworth due to the crowds, I was ready for a break. I'd found 59er diner on YELP and decided to stop. The place is tiny, with only 6 tables and a counter and was crowded. When it was obvious that the wait for a table would be long at noon on a Friday, we sat at the counter. A guy who I believe is the owner came to take our order. My elderly aunt wasn't hungry so we decided to order shakes - which turned out to be just okay - needed more flavoring & fake whipped cream. But the guy insisted that we order food. I said we'd had a big breakfast & he went around the counter telling others "she's using the breakfast excuse." He tried to act like he was joking, but he acted like a jerk. He finally convinced my aunt to order garlic bread. We were almost finished with the shakes and had been there about 45 minutes & still no bread. I asked for our check for the shakes - I was ready to get outta there! He went into the kitchen and fixed our order himself and brought it to us - no charge. I took one bite, at his insistence, and we took it to go. My aunt warmed it for dinner and said it was good. Two small shakes were almost $8.
If you like being harassed and a noisy place, stop here. Otherwise, keep driving. -

My husband and I stopped at the Diner July 12th at 4:30 pm. Let me talk about the service----------there was none! After sitting at the counter(the seats were assigned to us) for 10 minutes and the people came in after us were served water and had their orders taken and we still hadn't received any service what so ever. Even after were replaced our dirty menu's (they were lamented and covered with debris), and I was trying to get someones attention, they would look at me and walk away. Never again!

Visiting in Plain close by, my brother and I wanted a good quality breakfast so we ended up at the 59er Diner. Yes, the food was good, however, the service was HORRENDOUS!! The waitress (short blonde) was one of the worst I have ever encountered. Not only did she not bring silverware so we could stir our coffee, she got the order wrong, ( serving it while Yapping on the phone). Also, she was socializing more than working. Her constant loud conversing with the locals was annoying! This place could do A LOT better! Her $1.00 was generous given her poor service. Go back? Maybe. OBTW, breakfast was overpriced.
