We went to a private event downstairs at 59 Bank last weekend. There were maybe 60 people with an open bar cocktail hour followed by a three course sit down dinner. I have to say, the food was literally the best we had our entire trip. Everything came out together, perfectly cooked (beef and salmon at our table), seasoned well, and beautifully presented.

We did walk through the bar, but only to use the restroom. There was live music at the time. Business looked steady but not packed. You may have to stand awkwardly near the bar, as there didn't appear to be much seating.

We can't speak to the bar service (or lack thereof), but our event waitstaff was excellent. This is probably the best place to eat in the area.

Try not to go "late night" as the less than friendly chubby blonde bartender (Elizabeth?) is anything but pleasant. Be sure to wave your arms frantically and try to catch her attention has she'll be planted at the end of the bar snogging with a man (her boyfriend? husband? bar regular?) and paying no attention to you- a paying bar guest.

If they gave their guests a little more attention, they'd be wise to the fact that those are the people that will pay their bills. I suggest that if you see her behind the bar...stay as far away as possible. This restaurant would do best to let her go and find someone with a semblance of a personality to actually attract a bar crowd.

    The Good:
The wait staff is always friendly and accommodating. The bar is well lit and not too loud.  The menu is diverse and you're likely to find something on it that suits you.

    The Bad:
The actual wooden bar is too high and uncomfortable.  The menu may be diverse, but the preparation is usually mediocre, at best.  I've had steak burned to a crisp when ordered medium, sandwiches with wet bread completely in tatters, and fish so dry it was inedible. The actual downstairs dining room is an awkward echo chamber where you are likely to be forgotten by a busy server.
All things considered, it's not a terrible spot, just lower your expectations.  59 Bank is not the high-class New Milford spot that they pretend to be.

59 bank street is one of my favorite places to go! Food is consistently good, and service is always great.  The Friday and Saturday night bar tenders are always creating a pleasant atmosphere.  The male bartender is very personable and always knows what I want to drink! My boyfriend and I enjoy Sunday brunch there as well...a great meeting place for friends.

Like the others said, consistently good, a very comfortable atmosphere. Great for families looking for something a little better than the omni-present Italian faire. Also a great bar to hang out at, or get a buzz on before you go next door to Play !

Love love love their menu. I wandered in here for lunch at a friend's recommendation and everything on the menu looked amazing.  When I finally decided on the caramelized pear and gorgonzola flat bread (basically a very thin pizza type deal) with candied almonds, baby spinach, and drizzled w/balsamic I took one bite and knew I was in heaven. Very cute place with exposed brick and drop lighting and a very friendly staff.  I highly recommend 59 Bank.
