    I used to love going to 555 -- the art openings were always the "it" thing because they infused local musicians with local artists and they were always a good time.  Their shows and openings would be what everyone would talk about and would try desperately to carpool to because they were so much fun and featured interesting work by talented artists.

    I attended Twelve, which was a collection of work featuring women artists deconstructing and challenging the need for the term "women artists".  At that show I saw Kelly Jean Caldwell perform.  I've also seen NoMo there, the Pussy Pirates, and Dabrye.  They also have annual shows like Show Love, which exhibits work by regional artists.  

    I remember when it was  in Ann Arbor but was torn down and the artists had to re-locate.  Pardon the sappiness, but it totally makes my heart soar to know they are still kickin' it live in Detroit and still doing amazing things with their space.  Currently, they are doing Art Detroit Now which I am anxious to see.
