Absolutely love the place.
Pricey, but went with a groupon. I got two wine flights, one Taste of the World cheese and meat plate, and a pizza. Loved the wine and cheese plate. Pizza was whatevs.
Intimate. Romantic. Supercool downstairs beneath the main floor (which sells wine & beer). If i could afford, I'd love to throw a small party there. They use wine barrels for a table and theres a great wooden cozy old school feel to it. Service was great. Definitely recommend this place as a great date night spot.
Great people, really friendly & helpful both for wine tasting & for purchasing wine/beer. Tempted to give it a 4 (-pizza) but just cant do it. 4.5+ hands down. -

I went to this place with a friend on a Groupon. Overall, I found the experience quite disappointing.
I imagine some people find the basement charming and romantic, but I just thought it was too dark. We had to struggle just to read the menu-- once we finally got a menu. We made reservations and arrived about 5 minutes after the appointed time. We were directed to the basement. We waited about 15 minutes before anyone even came to bring us a menu. When the waiter/ sommelier finally came to our table, he went on for a couple of minutes about how busy and understaffed he was because so many folks decided to cash in their Groupons that day. Now I am not an unsympathetic person, but it puts a damper on my good time to start the whole thing with complaints from the server. It made me feel self-conscious, as if I was being a hassle to him.
We were there on a groupon as well, so we got 2 wine flights and a platter of assorted meats, cheeses and fruits. The pours on the wine were very skimpy, even for tasting portions. The wines were fine, but I would have never paid full price for the miniscule amount of wine that we were served. Likewise, the so-called meat cheese and fruit platter consisted of incredibly small portions of smoked meats and cheeses and a small handful of grapes. The hummus that we were served was bland. I've gotten better hummus from the grocery store. I would never pay full price for the portions served here because everything is terribly overpriced.
The service was mediocre. Our server brought us our check, and then we waited for him to come back and get the credit card. After another 15 minutes, we finally went up and asked if he would let us pay. It was only then that he informed us that we were supposed to go upstairs to pay. the cashier couldn't be bothered to stop playing around on her iPad to even interact with us as we paid. No "thanks, have a nice day, please come again" or any such nicety. In general the service seemed indifferent and it felt like the entire staff would rather be elsewhere.
I *might* come back here to check out their selection of beers in the retail section upstairs. I was only able to browse the retail area briefly, but they seem to have a pretty diverse selection of beers from all over that are reasonably priced. If I want to drink wine and have tapas, however, there are definitely better places to go where you can actually get your money's worth. -

I was also a first time groupon customer last week. The cellar downstairs is so dark and romantic! We enjoyed up the ambiance as we relaxed and sampled our wine flights.
The Taste of the World platter was included and had a nice selection of cheese, meats, olives, and dried fruit but the portions were very, very tiny. I would have been severely dissappointed had I ordered it at the menu price of $25 but it did pair well with the wine.
We would absolutely return for sample flights if ever in the area. I would not order wine by the glass, however, the pour was ridiculously small. -

Cool little spot. And I do mean little - the dining room is located downstairs under the storefront. It's very cozy, but beautifully decorated.
For a red wine lover like myself 55 Degree Wine is like heaven. So much selection, and the bartenders and staff are knowledgeable. So knowledgeable that the bartender ran over and stopped us when my friend and I started to sip the red wines in the flight before the whites. I'm pretty sure it killed him a little inside.
The menu is concise and easy to understand, which takes the intimidation away from those who are new to wine and beer snobbery. The descriptions and flavors of everything on the menu - wine and food - were pretty spot on. It's this kind of attention to detail that makes places stand out.
Maybe it was the 12 different wines we sampled, but the cheese platter was phenomenal. Really, really good. The cheeses were high quality, and appropriate (the absence of any sort of bleu made me happy). There was also a good selection of fresh and dried fruit with it, and perfect amounts of everything.
I would come back here for sure, it's a cool place to eat, drink, and relax. With such a selection everyone is bound to find something here they like. -

I have to say if you are looking for a local area for wine tasting this is the spot to go! I was able to discover this place with a groupon deal and not very experienced with wines myself. I was just amazed at the selection they have for both beer and wine at decent prices for being imported from Italy.
We had the hummus, and world platter plate that has a selection of meats and cheeses. However, the portioning is very small and hummus was ok if you are planning to consider it as a dinner meal. I recommend eating prior or after if you are heavy eaters. The wine flights that me and my husband tried was the sweet flight and the red flight. If you love sweet wine you will LOVE the selection they have from this tasting. It was like being in Napa for that moment with their ambiance. I would totally come back and purchase wines here. What was nice about the groupon deal was that any wines you want to purchase that night was 15% off so we totally took advantage of it ;)
The service was superb for a small place like this. You must ask to try the "Blueberry beer" that they have because it's just so amazing and different! -

We went to 55 Degree Wine with a Groupon - $40 for a wine flight package for 2, valued at up to $82. According to Groupon, each person gets a wine flight (up to $25 in value each) and share a Taste of the World plate ($25) and Hummus ($7).
Now, on the day that we were there, the maximum value of any of the wine/beer flights that we could choose was $16; so really, we paid $40 for a $64 package. The "deal" was starting to sound not as attractive.
Anyway, I got the Spanish wine flight and the bf got the beer flight. The wines all tasted ok and the beers were not to his liking (he doesn't like craft beers so it was expected). The Taste of the World plate is extremely overpriced at the regular price of $25. It consisted of 2 pieces each of 3 or 4 types of cheeses, maybe 10 slices of meat total, a tiny bunch of grapes, 4 oddly flavored pickles, 3 giant beans that looked better than they tasted, and a sprinkle of nuts. And the "fresh bread" that's served with it didn't taste very fresh. The Hummus was just downright horrible. It had no flavor and while we both enjoy hummus and were very hungry, we ate less than half of it. The hummus was served with stale, unappetizing pita chips.
I think the ambiance is fabulous and I loved the CMYE that we had here a few months ago. I was certainly disappointed with this latest experience and I don't think I will be back.Listed in: Groupons and Other Deals

I do not like this place. I do not like the portions and I do not like the service.
Let me explain.
The actual quality of most of the food / wine was not horrible (but not the best) but what really pi**ed me off was that every "trick" in the book was used to get us to spend more money for as little food as possible. the "value" was far far below what I expected, for what we spent.
First off we wet into this with a Groupon, we got the 4 person Groupon costing 75$ (valued at 165$) so thought we were up for an adventure and at a discount of 90$ we would chance it. But when we got there the wine tester sets (called flights) were valued at 15-16$ (x 4). the meat plate was 25$ and the hummus was 7$ so right off the bat, the real "value" started at 92$ and found out later when the bill came they charged us 15$ in "tax" (20% if your counting) so our cash out of pocket was now 90$ not so good a deal. If the asking price was 92$
The hummus was bad, really really bad. The only reason I could eat it was I was hungry and used to military food. But this was not what I expected from a high class joint. The meat plate was 3 tiny strips of 3 meats, and 3 tiny strips of cheese. And a tiny "splash" of other things. Grapes, almonds, and tiny pickles. Not worth 25$
And about 3 oz of wine per glass. Every thing was small and tiny, but we had kind of expected something like that, after all it was a wine tasting, after all. We get a taste then you have to buy the "real" thing.
What really got me was when we did order 2 full glasses of wine for the girls (at full price) we Got the SAME 3 oz glass of wine.
That was it. I had had it, I had to go. That's when I got the next shock on the 20% tax on the bill. I will never go there again.
SHAME on them! -

Great place for a party... which is why I was there. Downstairs, they have a bar with some small tables and around the corner there is another room with more seating, which is where the party was. Talk about a plethora of wines to choose from! The empty boxes make up the walls of the room, so cool.
The food is quite decent as well. The lighting is dim and candles are places on the tables, making for a very romantic atmosphere. The only this is that with fitting about 40 people in the room, they need better ventilation. It got pretty stuffy after a while. But the servers/workers are very nice and accommodating.
It was a great place and I had a great time! -

This is an awesome place for a romantic getaway or cozy get together for a few friends. You enter ground level next to a pizza place but don't let that sway your thinking: the people here know what they're doing. We were guided to walk downstairs to the cellar/basement for flights of wine and pairings. We presented our Groupon and had no trouble at all: no attempts to upsell us, swindle us, or any other shady stuff other places will pull on once they find out that you pre-purchased a deal.
I ordered the tiny bubbles and was delighted! They were the best wines I've had (or can remember, ha!), and I fell hard for one of the cheese I tasted - the smoked cheddar. I'm still wondering where I can buy more of that; unfortunately, 55 Degree Wine is true to their name - just wine. But they sure have a lot of it! One of the female staffers was super helpful and was generous with her time in explaining the different pairing items. There was an awkward waiter at the beginning but I'm glad he wasn't assigned to us. It's dimly lit, and it has a sophisticated feel to the place. You definitely want to dress a little nicer or hip/ster than usual.
I highly recommend 55 Degree Wine, although it may make you not want to go anywhere else for wine tastings. This place goes above the usual! =) -

There are several wine shops in and around the area that offer a better experience. Not worth my time and seriously disappointed by the treatment I endured. Save your money and look elsewhere.

I've wanted to come here almost since I moved to LA. I remember reading about it years ago but just never got my act together to get here - and couldn't convince anyone to come to Glendale with me.
I finally did make it with a couple friends because of a groupon for wine tasting. We explore the shop upstairs and then retreated to the cellar for the actual tasting. The cellar doesn't really belong in Glendale - you'll forget you're in suburbia as you sit around old wine barrels, eating charcuterie and listening to the waiter explain the different wine flights.
Highly recommended. -

This place was pretty cool. Went there tonight with a friend who had a groupon for two wine flights, a cheese plate and hummus. Wine flights range from $13 - $16 for 3 tastes and they also have beer flights ($15 tonight - not sure if it changes). The wines were nice, the cheese plate was good, the hummus wasn't the best i've ever had but for a groupon price it was nothing to complaint about. The best part was the ambiance in the tasting room. While it was a bit dark, there was something very relaxing and enjoyable about it. They also appear to have a private room that I assume you can rent out. It looked pretty sweet! The waitress and dude behind the counter in the wine shop were nice and helpful. I'd go back here again for a taste. Also, dude gave us 15% off any bottle purchases.. Not sure if that's a regular thing, but either way, I liked it.

Was excited to go here - I had a coupon from Groupon $40 for $82 value - sounds good - but was very misleading it really was $40 for an $52 value - let me break it down - the two wine flights were $15 each - the hummus was $7 (which was not very good) and the cheese plate was $15 - a $52.00 total - VERY VERY misleading and disappointing.I personally look at the Groupon's coupons as a way to experience new places that we can add to our going out list, not as a one-time BAD REVIEW experience. I'll be more careful with my choices from Groupon.

After hearing about 55 degree for awhile, I finally decided to give it a try last weekend since i was planning on hitting up links and hops for dinner. It's located downstairs the wine shop, similar to a speak easy. It's a bit dark but romantic at the same time. My bf and I both decided to do the wine tasting. I ordered the Three to Tango($14) and he got the Taste of the World.. i think. ($18). Both were really good. The pour isnt too light so you get to enjoy each wine for all its worth. They also offer food and beer tasting but we weren't really up for it so we decided to save it for another visit. I'd advise bringing a jacket bc the A/C can make it a tad chilly. Otherwise, can't wait to come back!

I love wine bars and this one is no exception. First of all the location is a bit strange. Sure it's in a cool little part of Atwater, but it's in a little strip mall. Though at first this might be a deterrent, once you step inside and go downstairs to the actual bar it's like being transformed into a whole different place.
Overall this place is small...or cozy I should say. It's very dark, but that just adds to the mood. The room we sat in is lined with boxes of wine bottles. I wouldn't say it's classy, but it definitely has its own charm.
They have a nice selection of wine and beer. You can buy glasses individually, or get a "flight" of wine which will be three glasses of a particular type of wine, each with it's own characteristics. It's great working your way through the wines and tasting how each compares to the last. They tend to give them to you ordered from mildest to boldest, that way as you progress the previous wine does not overpower the next.
Their food isn't bad either. We had their "meats of the world" plate, hummus, and the chicken pizza...but their wine is what will get me back here. Overall a great little place! -

Went here for the second time after purchasing a Groupon for $40.00 which covered $80.00 of wine tastings and cheese platter. Love the hip cellar type vibe, dim lighting, nice employees and great wine selections. Parking can be a little tricky, but I lucked out and found metered parking on the street. It is in a smaller size strip mall and there aren't very many spots. I would highly recommend purchasing a Groupon for this if you see it because you will also get 15% off any wine purchases.

My buddy and I came for the wine tasting in the wine bar downstairs from 55 Degree Wine. All around cozy atmosphere and super friendly and knowledgeable staff (J was awesome). They offer a varied number of flights - 5 different ones that change weekly. You get a good amount of wine, 3 glasses per flight. I had been on a Malbec kick lately so had to have that flight. 2/3 I liked the most so with the 10% discount you get with each tasting, I had to take a bottle of each home! YUM.
J recommended a good italian wine after describing to him what I kinda liked. I love it when you go to a wine place and they can actually not make you feel like an idiot for not being to describe "exactly" what you like.
Seems to be a popular place even though it was a weeknight. The grilled cheese truck was parked outside, which i think is a regular stop for them. That made a perfect dinner with our wine we had afterwards!
Definitely go check out 55 Degree Wine even if it might be outta the way for some LA'ans. If you google this location, be forewarned that it might be hard to find. So call ahead to get accurate directions. Parking is limited so be prepared to park your car in the neighborhood around the corner.
But after finally finding the place, we were definitely pleased. I'd recommend that they consider starting some kind of wine club if they haven't already! Thanks J for taking care of us! We'll be back! -

Cool ambience, decent amount of parking. Went there with some friends on a sunday afternoon and even though it was pretty early and we didn't have a groupon or a reservation, we were seated in the little cellar area downstairs. i ordered the beer flight which was pretty good and my two friends ordered the wine flights. we also got like a meat and cheese platter which was pretty scanty and pricey. the one guy downstairs was friendly but a bit clumsy; we had a wineglass with a pre-existing lipstick mark and my beer flight came in portions because certain drinks weren't ready. but it was fine. i'm guessing that the prices are normal for this type of thing so it was fine.

Was here Thursday night 3/2/12 with my wife.
It was an early bday surprise (luckily she got it on Groupon yeah e yeah!).
The place is a bit hidden in a small shopping center between a Starbucks and a Mom and Pops pizza place so keep a good eye out.
At first I thought it was a wine store and wine tasting. But it got better. They have a trendy/romantic/relaxed bar downstairs. Tried the wine and beer flight with cheeses, hummus and a Veggie pizza. I tried the beer flight. The Belgium beer with Coriander and Orange peel was awesome. Wife tried the wine flight. It was ok. The Hummus,,, well,,i've had better (at the Griffin in Los Feliz, Yummy!) But the cheeses and Veggie Pizza were great! Love Basil and Feta Cheese on pizzas.
Its a great lil quiet hang out if you wanna just chill and avoid the kaos of Hollywood or busy bars. Our waiter said Thursdays and Sundays are the less busy days.
Our waiter Tony was great! Thanks Tony for filling us in on how the whole flight thing worked ;) 1st timers
I would def recommend this place for some quiet time or if your planning a 1st date. -

Everyone seems to be on the same page. So I'll keep this short and sweet.
This place is pretty legit. Cute tasting cellar. Romantic. Intimate. Vast selections of both beers and wines. Awesome.
The man and I tried a couple of flights. We're cheap so the prices seemed high for us. This particular selection was $15-20 a flight. But whatever, we went for it anyways. I'm no wine connoisseur, so I'll just tell you the wine was tasty.
Definitely would come back to see more about the beers. I have a more discerning palate when it comes to those bubbly brews.
Overall: Good stuff!

The best wine store experience I've encountered.
I have gone on multiple occasions with a vague idea of what I wanted, and have always been steered in the right direction for both wine and beer selections. They can take something like, "I want an all-purpose red dinner wine that is medium to bold flavored and under $30" and give you a winner.
I'm also a big Belgium sour fan (as the Monk's Flemish was the first time I actually enjoyed drinking any kind of beer when I lived in Philadelphia), and they have given me excellent recommendations on top of stocking the Monk's from time to time.
I highly recommend stopping in, and I can't wait to actually make it to a wine tasting and/or food truck event. -

I like the fact that I feel like I'm going into a dungeon to get to the bar here. It's dark and candlelit romantic but with a sense that some vampires are going to come out from the walls somewhere...
The guys there were very courteous and helpful in the selection of wines. They also have a ton of beers in the shop and in the bar... I had the bubbly flight of the night (flights change every week) and 2 out of 3 were tasty...
I will go back to stare at all the wine and beers in the shop and go crazy over which ones to get. -

Casual wine bar, located in a dark and dreamy cellar filled with cork-lined walls and dim, bronze lighting. You have to go through the upper store first, that sells a decently sized selection of wines.
The wine bar itself is fun and intimate. It's the type of place you go to be comfortable and relaxed with the SO. It's not one of the larger bars you'll find in LA, has a fairly limited food menu but a great place to kick back after a long work day. -

Awesome wine bar! Great atmosphere and it's just overall a wonderful place to taste some wine and then go upstairs and buy some wine.
Their food is great and so are their selection of wines and craft brew beer. -
Review from Donna G.
I went today with a group of friends to 55 Degree Wine. We went for the Wine Tasting event - and it was wonderful.
Their tasting room is downstairs in the basement. There are plenty of wood tables and seating available. The decor of the tasting room is really nice - its just the right atmosphere for sipping wines.
The wine tasting consisted of for different wines: Prosecco, Malbec, a French light red and a California Cabernet. I have to say I really liked all of the wines.
I ended up buying a bottle of the Malbec to take home. If you have attended the wine tasting, they give you a 10% discount off your bottle.
We also ordered pizzas. I got a mushroom pizza. And another friend got a hummus dip with flat bread. The food was really good.
I am taking off one star because there was some confusion at the end about our bill. Since we were a large group, and each person was paying separately, it became difficult for them to break out the bill. But they eventually split it up for us and all was okay.
I would definitely go back for one of their wine tasting events. It is really a nice place with the perfect atmosphere for wine lovers. -

Discovered 55 Deg Wine thanks to a groupon.
The adventure started by entering the wine shop and wondering where said restaurant was hidden. The hostess took us down a narrow stairway into a dark basement, and next thing you know, we were greeted by a quaint restaurant area, dimly lit with tea candles and with high tables made out of upended wine barrels.
To the skinny....
FOOD & DRINK:
The food was great. We split a pizza and one of the around the world meat & cheese plates. The wine flights were fun to try! And having a wine shop upstairs made it very convenient to go home with a bottle of my favorite flight tasting.
SERVICE:
The hostess was very knowledgable about all of the food and wine offerings we were presented. Also, all of our orders were served very promptly.
LOCATION:
55 Deg is located in a small strip mall looking place up in Atwater Village. I seriously suggest Google Mapping it, then look for the big 55 Deg sign.
Even without the Groupon, the prices appeared extremely reasonable. We're looking forward to going back for a date night to split a cheese plate and try some more wine pairings. I also noticed on their website that they have special events. I'm definitely looking forward to attending one of those in the future. -
Review from Rob P.
Was hanging with a friend on a Friday night. We were supposed to hit up an event, which ended up being kinda lame so we took off really disappointed. The night was still really young so I mentioned there was this wine bar I'd always wanted to check out on the way home.
55 Degree Wine ended up being such an awesome experience I really wish we just spent the whole night there. The storefront is in a tiny strip mall (if you can even call it that) in Atwater Village. It is in between a Starbucks and a Crispy Crust Pizza. The store itself has a pretty small footprint. You walk in the front door and you see wine covering just about the entire space. There are 3 isles totally with 2 narrow walk ways. They really pack a lot wine into a small space. That isn't the best part however. If you walk to the back you see small stairwell tucked away. Down below is an area that almost feels like a speakeasy. There are a smattering of tables around a bar along with two smaller "private" rooms. I put private in italics because the rooms are of in their own areas but they have large windows looking in. The room is dimly lit and has a nice private atmosphere. Downstairs they serve different wine and beer flights along with a light menu consisting of some small appetizers (cheese, deli meats, hummus, etc) and thin crust pizzas. We ordered a pair of wine flights, an order of hummus and a Meaty thin crust pizza. The wine flights were amazing (5 out of 5). http://s3-media2.ak.ye... I loved all three of my italian reds and my friend (who isn't much of a wine person) loved 2 of her wines and mostly liked her 3rd. The hummas was good (4 out of 5). http://s3-media3.ak.ye... It was a nice accompaniment to the meal and a great snack to pick at. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the Meaty Pizza (5 out of 5). http://s3-media4.ak.ye... It was very simple pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, ham, pepperoni and salami but all the ingredients really shine through. Very well done!
Overall, it was an amazing experience. I went back a couple days latter to pick up a few bottles of wine from the tasting and the guy behind the counter quickly hooked me up. I am seriously considering joining their wine club because after a couple visits I already trust their choices.Listed in: Grubbin' in Glendale, Eye Heart Whine

You walk into this small intimate 55 Wine. Narrow and long is how I would describe the Wine shop.
If you are here for a wine bar tasting event, your reaction will be like mine.. "eh, what? where? How?!"
Then they lead you down some narrow stairways at the very very back of the shop. "Great!, I'm going to be claustrophobic!"
Well, maybe at first you'll feel this way, but when you get down to the cellar, it's pretty spacious and impressive. What a cute intimate, cozy cellar room with tables and chairs, dim lights, candles, wine! They have appetizers you can order to compliment your wine tasting.
This is a great find in LA and I will definitely be back to do some wine tasting events! -

A really cozy place to sit down with a date or a couple of friends, drink some wine and eat pizza. We came here using out Groupon certificate & enjoyed about 15 glasses of wine (haha), 2 cheese plates and 2 pizzas (Garlic chicken & Meat). The pizza's tasted great & the wine selection is pretty extensive. Service was good.
My favorite part was the ambience: basement turned into a dimly lit room & wine everywhere. I will definitely come back here again :) -
Review from Hazel F.
You must visit the basement here especially when there is live music. It feels like someone's nice basement down there. I wouldn't mind having a basement as cozy as theirs. I had ordered a bubbly wine flight. (Didn't even notice-just that I had ordered a Pinot Noir). I really did like the one that ended the flight. I believe it was the pinot noir. I still remember the way those bubbles felt of the roof of my mouth. Then when you are done listening to some music and trying some beer, you can go upstairs and buy some beer or wine. I was happy to find they had hatachino nest white ale. I love its floral notes of jasmine.

Not much of a wine drinker or conniseur, since to this day no matter how many wine tastings I go to I can never tell the difference. You can give me a 40 glass of Pinot Noir and some 2 buck chuck from trader joes and I wont know.
But oblivious to its name, 55 degree wine has a great selection in beers, especially Belgian, German etc. They sold one of my favorites Chimay Blue, and at 15 bucks a bottle, seemed like a good deal since I once bought at a restaurant for 26.
Secretly downstairs they have a tasting room and a hidden cellar (maybe it was a speakeasy during prohibition) which is a good place to mingle and be merry. I was able to order a St Bernardus for 7 bucks (average price) down there. The bad though was there is no cashier downstairs? So either they bring it for you or you have to run up and pay, then come down the stair to pick up. Also the store can be and the cellar can be a bit crowded, as I find myself always in the way. Damn me.
Overall I enjoyed this secret gem in a random parking lot. -

My new favorite wine bar and proof that you should never judge a book by its cover! This is one of those places I kept hearing about for months and every time I made plans to go I ended up somewhere else. However, 55 degrees definitely lives up to its hype.
I don't know much about wine and places like this make it hard to learn because they have such a great beer selection. For those of you that like beer or wine or want to learn about either then this is the place for you as they have beer and wine tastings.
Both beer and wine flights are priced around $11-$15, they do a great job of posting their flights on their web site so they you can judge if it's something you are going to want to try before you even get there.
Service was excellent despite it being a busy night and the staff seems very knowledgeable about the beer and wine they pour. -

Downtown, Los Angeles, CA
If you are confused when first coming here, then you are in the right place. You will first see what appears to be a normal wine store in a very casual plaza...but go in further into the store and you will see stairs that will lead you into their cool little cave.
You can either order wines/beers in the cave OR buy your bottle of wine/beer in the store (price ranges from the dirt cheap to expensive). There is a $6 corkage fee on Fridays/Saturdays but otherwise, it's free.
For a more casual setting, the service and ambiance is pretty amazing. The staff is always attentive and they definitely know their grapes. The dim lights and candlelit tables make for an intimate environment that isn't too stuffy and is good for both girls night outs and dates.
Will definitely continue to come back! -

I really love the atmosphere of the tasting room. It is really a wonderful place to go on a date or just hang out with a few friends.
They have wine & beer tasting which suits our group perfectly since some of us love wine and some of us love beer. The food was also quite good. We had the meat pizza & the cheese & meat plate. We all loved the cheeses on the plate but wished there were more considering it was $25.
Overall, I would love to come here to try some tastings and just head up to the store and bring a few bottles home - wine or beer. We bought a bottle of wine and some beers after the tasting. I really loved the variety in the tasting.
One down side for me was the price. The tasting ranged between $15-22 for 3 tastings. In the end, the amount that was poured was only worth one full glass. So I thought it was a bit overpriced. The same with the food, it was good but also small considering how much we paid for it. -

Came back with friends and another coupon.
The waiter/waitress didn't tell us stories about the wines and beers like Tony did, which was disappointing. I know wine. The staff that night didn't know so much.
Either way the wines were delicious, the food/pizza was tasty and it was a perfect, enjoyable night and our friends liked the place as much as we did.
Regardless of how busy it is the staff at a place like this should tell you a LOT about what you're drinking, winery style, as they did on our first visit. Otherwise it's just a bar with take-out pizza.1 Previous Review: Show all »

This review is for the lady at the front desk who gave me directions when I barged in the store in panic.
Thanks for looking up the Silverlake Coffee shop and giving me directions. I noticed that you offer wine tasting and I'm definitely coming back for it soon. :) -

We came here with a groupon and damn! was it worth it! 35 bucks for almost 80 bucks worth of food and wine.
You'd never guess there'd be this secret dark basement space underneath this bright lighted wine and beer store.
The taste of the world meat and cheese plate was amazing. Lots of different fruits and cheeses that all somehow go very well together. The wines we had were pretty good, but still lacked depth (maybe the grapes weren't mature enough). Pizza was very good too, nice and thin, and simple.
We looked at all the beers they have and really, they have every unknown international beer there.
I would have given this place 4 stars if we had to pay the full price.
