The 2 stars are for price. I'd be more than happy to pay up to $30 for their "wine and lights" tour, which I'm sure is pretty similar to their haunted tour (they still had their haunted decorations up in the bus). Luckily, I got a groupon for $50 which was still too much in my opinion. I can't believe some people shelled out $100-$130 to get driven around in a bus drinking sangria out of a cooler (we were hoping for wine on this very chilly december night) and fed single serve famous amos cookies in the bag.
The owners/tour guides were very nice, and although the lights weren't very abundant, they were able to find a couple good pockets of houses around cherry creek. They did make us get off the bus and carroll in front of a random Cherry Creeker's home which seemed a little awkward, but hey it's the holidays.
Again, not a bad tour, just very over priced. It's a good tour for $30, not $130. -

I would have not have rated with any stars it was that bad. Do not waste your time or money. My good friends and I bought a Groupon for the Haunted Wine Tour. Wine plus scary attractions around Denver with good friends, sound like a no brainer right? Wrong!
My friend booked us for Friday and it said we were on the waiting list. He called to double check and they said, you are good to go, there was something wrong with the website.
We head down there, super excited, had been talking about it for weeks. Got there early to make sure we were ok. And the bus driver said, welp you all are on the waiting list. He said no worries you should be good to go. A hour later when everyone gets on the bus, he says sorry, it is full and off the bus goes.
At this point we are furious and it takes A LOT to make me mad. We call 5280 wines and apparently it was our fault. We spoke to the owner and he said he would contact us Monday....It is Tuesday. NO CALL!
Do not waste your time or money. Groupon was great and refunded us right away.Comment from L H. of 5280 Wine Tour Co 11/2/2011

Nice excuses by the owner in the response. Bullshit! Had you tried to resolve the issue in ANY way, you wouldn't have gotten the bad review. A month early is not late booking. These responses show me how truly scummy this place is.

Wish I could do a NO STAR report. The rest of these reviews are accurate to a T except the actual 2 that had a good experience. We had bought a Groupon for this back in SEPTEMBER for a haunted wine tour, and were pretty darn excited about it. My husband and I love Halloween and all the fun fall festivities. And lets face it, wine too :D Anyway, we booked the tour back on the 4th of October, for one of only 3 dates left because of extreme over-booking on their end. We had to do one for tonight, the 17th of November. No biggie, keep the Halloween season going a bit longer. Fun!! Not...I never got my email confirmation after I signed up for the online booking, then signed up for the 17th which said confirmed and that I would get an email confirming. Never got that. Never got the email that was supposed to be sent 72-48 hours before the tour. I called and called and called today (literally, I just kept hitting redial to see if I could frustrate someone into answering the phone). Finally after about an hour of worrying (and an email which is supposed to be the best way to get a hold of them) that they just jacked my $130, I finally got someone on the line. She explained that I NEVER signed up for tonight (um, hi....it said you are confirmed for the 17th). So it was my fault and now they have no more tours. UNTIL THE SPRING. No thanks, not going to let you use my money and shut down your company with all the Groupon bucks you're getting. Thanks to Groupon, my new heroes, they quickly, and I MEAN QUICKLY! refunded my money and were awesome with their service. I suggest grabbing a couple bottles at the liquor store and watching some horror flicks, much cheaper. I can't believe they sell their normal tickets for $130. YOU'RE NUTS if you buy tickets from them....even if it's discounted for Groupon. They need to get their act together, and run a better business. 'Nuff said.

I'm a wine lover. Let's face it, I have had more glasses of wine than I have had water and I cannot resist a foreign bottle. So when some friends decided to do a Denver wine tour I laughed. However, CO has over 30 wineries with a ton in Denver. Guess who's laughing now?
The 5280 Wine Tour (not affiliated with the magazine) is quite an experience for any wine lover. And, let's be honest, anyone who is interested in trying wine but does not know much about it should go. Our group of 20+ was picked up in a party bus and a hummer limo (part of the package deal) and we started by going to a winery (Balisteri) in the middle of commerce city (I kid you not) where we tried over 22 local wines!
We were then taken to the Denver Wine Row where we visited 4 different tasting rooms, all with over 5 wines each (or more) to try. My recommendation? Go straight to Garfield Wines and try their Ice wine and Au de Chocolat - both dessert wines are incredible and this is coming from someone that does not like dessert wines.
Why the four stars? Price. I got a great deal on Groupon but without the deal it is about $100 per person which seems a bit steep. All in all, this was an awesome day tour of the city and CO wines are definitely worth trying and learning about!
