Been here a few times with my brother who likes to come
and do a bit of shopping here.

They have a nice selection of graphic tees that you dont see
often, or at all. They  also have fresh kicks, and some women's tees as well.

Its a real small shop, easy to miss. Nevertheless the owners
are real cool and helpful. I'll be updating this review real soon.

01/21/12)  They're not at that location.  I'm not sure if they relocated. An arts/crafts individual has rented the space.

Wow, what seems to be a small shop in the middle of no where, is an artistic find!

My best friend and I stopped by here out of a whim on our way to dinner at Classic Thai. Walked in and was greeted warmly by Natasha.

Inside was incredible art work on the walls for sale by local artists. The selection of colorful athletic footwear lined the walls, women on the left, men on the right. A great selection of high quality local casual wear labels, like Blood is the New Black. Also hand painted jewelry from last month's featured artist, Zachary Pryor.

According to Natasha, their merchandise is renewed almost every week and they feature a new local artist every month (I think), so there's plenty to check out in this little gem of a store.

I bought a pair of hand painted earrings with classic silhouettes for $30 of rabbits that are very Alice in Wonderland-esque. Each piece by Pryor is one of a kind and wonderfully crafted. They're my new favorite pair! ^_^

Also, for those who live in the area, they have shirts that shout out local pride. Just a plain American Apparel black tee with the words: "The Rock 90041" Just very cute. ^_^

Overall, a great quality store that's offering something new and fun to my little small town. Whoo hoo!

Paula and I found this place by happenstance.  It's kinda sorta out and away from the normal trendy finds.  And there really isn't that much parking on the street.

We walk in, and BAM!  I realize I'm in a store for black people.  or at the very least, a store for people who enjoy hip hop, looking ghetto, and acting gangster.  We were the only non-black people in there!  You know that awkward feeling you get when you feel out of place??  Like everyone is staring at you?  That's how I felt.  Gah!  So uneasy!

I quickly remedied my uneasiness by mentioning that Paula and I were trying to check out all the local boutiques.  That's when Natasha really opened up and began to show us around the tiny space.  Suddenly, by subtle magic, the unappealing offerings of graffiti trucker caps, neon hightop Nikes, oversized printed shirts, and gaudy bling dissolved away to reveal the cutest hand-painted jewelry, interesting pop-art style t-shirts, and some crazy art.

The idea of offering wall art from the local artists, is pure genius.  And the pieces are quirky and definite conversation starters.  I have some slight respect for Blood is the New Black because their shirts were macabre...but semi-cute.  Yes, that is a hard combination to do!

50/50 gets bonus points for being unabashedly different from the normal offerings of Eagle Rock.  I'm glad to say I was pleasantly surprised by the end and glad that Paula and I took a random chance on this gem!

    6/5/2010 2 Check-ins Here

Found 50/50 Grind street boutique on Yelp when searching for men's clothing shops near the Verdugo bar.  50/50 Grind was exactly the shop I was looking for as I was looking for distinctive t-shirts.

The owner, Rob, spent time to point out new arrivals like the silkscreen of Sheppard Ferry's Kobe woodblock cutting in time for the Lakers 3rd consecutive championship.

Admittedly a got distracted by the ridonkulous selection of custom Nike's, New Balance, and other smaller niche brands of shoes.  I thank Rob for pointing me to a pair of Natives, an all rubber slip-ons with style.  http://nativeshoes.com....  Jefferson are the ones I prefer.

    Check out 50/50 Grind.

50 50 Grind is a little gem in Eagle Rock. I forget the owners name, but his store is top notch. He keeps it fresh rotating underdog t-shirt artists from week to week such as http://www.amesbros.com to name one. He also stocks some fly kicks I've never heard of.

It's a small store and he runs the whole shop so expect it to be closed at odd hours. He doesn't have an internet site and has done well by word of mouth, so if you decide to check it out, be nice.

I love this small, well stocked in-the-know spot.  They always have new merch of new tee brands, and limited edition shoes.  I try to stop in now and again to see whats up and buy a couple limited/original tees.

I highly recommend you stop in!
