If you love breakfast and you haven't been to 5 South Main you're really missing something.  Located in the middle of the Cohasset Village 5SM offers the rare combination of friendly service and really good food.  Its a small place, holding perhaps no more than 25 customers at a time.  And yet, while busy, it never seems over run.  I can't seem to get enough of this place.  In fact, I'm headed there right now.

Went today for breakfast for the first time. They were out of their signature Cinnamon French Toast and had been for several weeks!!  The place had 2 other parties, and the service was very slow. My egg breakfast was outstanding and they serve HASH BROWNS which is a nearly extinct item on an American Breakfast menu. Other than the slow service that particular day, the food was awesome

5 South Main could be such a GREAT place!  The food is good and the cupcakes are amazing but the service is what makes me not go back.

I frequently went with my family and friends and service has always been rude and slow.  There have been times I've been there when it hasn't been slammed and service is still bad.  One notable comment from our server as she watched people coming in "i wish we could just lock the door!  There  was something going on in the common and no one told us so we've been slammed with little people ordering all morning."  Surprising right?  Regardless if there are 2 or 20 people in the restaurant the servers seem unhappy and stressed.

Often times we've tried ordering to go and it still takes 30 minutes to get food.  I've tried calling ahead and we still end up waiting to pick up food.  A little frustrating.

Cohasset is such a small town that you would think a neighborhood place would feel like that.  Friendly and happy.

This moring I had breakfast at 5 South Main with a friend of mine. The place was packed so we took a counter seat. The waitress seemed utterly confused while we placed an order for 2 omelets. She also said it would be a very long time for our food. Well, she wasn't joking. 45 minutes to almost an hour for 2 omelets! Our waitress seemed to wasting a lot of time dilly dallying also. When our breakfast finally arrived it was absoultuely TERRIBLE. The omelet could have fed 20 people to say the least and it was digustingly oozing with cheese. The hashbrowns tasted like cardboard as well. Not worth the wait at all. There was only 1 person cooking all the food which seems highly illogical to me. Overall, one of the worst breakfast experiences I've ever had.

When I pulled up to 5SM, there was a woman sitting out front. Since I had not been there before I asked her if she thought they might be vegan friendly. Well, lucky for me she was an owner and she steered me not only in the door but to a great lunch, made to order with fresh ingredients. I sat outside at one of their tables enjoying my veggie wrap with black bean salsa. It was really good and a perfect New England day to be caught in a light salt kissed sea breeze as I savored my lunch while watching the Cohasset folks go by.  I appreciate their fine quality of food and willingness to accommodate my dietary choices. I'll be back (Saying that must be a sacrilege in MA now!) to 5 South Main and their perfect lunch spot.

Love, love, love this place! My husband and I just stumbled upon this adorable yummy place a few months ago and so happy we did! The food is fresh, unique, and so delicious. Each time we go we try something new. My husband said his turkey club was the BEST he's EVER had, and that means something :) I wish I lived a little closer so I could go more. The decor, atmosphere, and staff are warm and friendly. Can't wait to go back!

THE BEST LOBSTER ROLL. Please do yourself a favor and taste a sandwich that is out  of this out of this world.

There isn't much mayo, toasted on a baguette, arugala, lots of lobster. Yum! The perfect summer day treat.

Sidenote- baked goods are phenomenal too.

Hands down the best Lobster Roll in New England!  Generous portion of quality meat, light on the Mayo, grilled gourmet roll with a bit of lettuce.  I've sampled lobster rolls for years and this one is the winner!  It beat out the Fish Net in Blue Hill, ME!  You must try it!

Great breakfast and lunch spot on Main Street.  You know Stars Hallow, the fictional New England town in Gilmore Girls?  Well sitting inside 5 South Main for breakfast any morning makes me feel like I'm in one of those small-town joints for regulars.  People always bump into friends here at other tables.  Very kid-friendly, service is pleasant. The only con is that sometimes the wait can be long to get the food you ordered.

Ran into this place on a Sat afternoon as I was driving through for work.  Stopped in to grab a sandwich for lunch and ended up getting the spinach wrap. It tasted amazing and was so big that it could have definitely made two meals.

My server was extremely friendly and when I wasn't sure what to order, she took the time to tell me about the menu. I will definitely be back.

Definitely a cozy little lunch spot. Looked like they had some really good looking deserts too.

Super food and it's not that cheap - but it is well worth the price.  Super fresh and delicious.  A little small inside but I can get beyond that.

Well they must have gotten too big for their britches!  I was treated very badly there recently.  Will never patronize this establishment nor any other they are affiliated with ever again.  Too bad, the food was good.

Finally...after many starts after many years, Cohasset village finally gets a good breakfast and lunch place. Sorry Atlantica, Mr.Dooley, Cohasset House of Pizza, etc.,etc. This is the real deal. Real fresh. No pretensions. No attitude. No 'townies' upstaging visitors in the attention department. Just good food and nice people to serve it. Go.

Love this place! I've only had two of their sandwiches: the signature 5 South Main and their Lobster Roll. Both are great. Nice people, nice place!

My wife and I heard about this place and wanted to try it for breakfast last weekend.  We got there around 1130 and were told they had just stopped serving breakfast. After a deliberation, we decided to stay for lunch and are so glad we did.  We both started with a cup of tomato basil soup which tasted very frest and not too salty. She got a grilled cheese which was very good, maybe a little too buttery but perfect if you don't mind that.  I got the 5 South chicken sandwich on a wheat wrap and it was sandwich perfection! All of the cupcakes looked great too but we were too full to try.  We'll definitely be going back again and again!

Really bummed out after trying this place out for breakfast. Feel like I threw thirty bucks down the toilet. Breakfast menu was limited and over priced. My order was totally wrong but I didn't want to send it back, they knew it was wrong too and served it anyway. Really put me in an uncomfortable position. My husband ordered the crab cakes with poached eggs and sliced tomato, they served him fried eggs with no tomato....which makes no sense because poached eggs is what they put on the menu...they didn't give him a choice. We both really couldn't stomach the hash browns, they were somehow both raw and burned at the same town. My eggs were gross...the highlight of the meal was some raspberry preserves with toast. And the toast was nice, not burned which I appreciate. The atmosphere is nice, it's very small and very cute. Maybe the chef called in sick or something but I will not be back to give it another chance, the prices just don't justify the risk.

Wowwwww. Got the 5 South Main St. sandwich that had real high quality chicken beans and other things and the dressing or whatever they used was very good just awesome! Yes pricey at $8 not including tax but compared to Boston thats not much more then most places there but in general it is pricey but the quality is very high. Only other minor complaint is the bread they used was alright but I wish it were warm and fresh maybe made in house or just something to match the inside of the sandwich ingredients quality but still no way I can complain overall. Service was friendly and a bit hmm on the aggressive but still friendly side. It would have been nice had they given eye contact after I gave them my money instead of looking of to the side but no big deal I guess hey the food is what counts. The best part cupcakes wow the amazing amazing chocolate cupcake I know it is the best anywhere. The frosting visually seems at first like they might be shorting you on it but no way my god after you wrap your mouth around it you realize there is enough just the right amount and it tastes great! The cake part is really what made it stand out as a champ! The cake part tasted like the same kind you would get at a very high end restaurant for dessert and trust me I love circe grotto's and concord teacakes cupcakes and even went to a place in mystic ct who were written up in the ny times there pricey but large cupcakes were lower when it came to quality not by a lot but the quality of the cake was noticeably better here. So yes by accident some lady raved how great the cupcakes were when I walked in I looked at them like ehh I donno about that but I checked out the food aruond me it looked high quality so I gave it a try and yes to my suprise the best of the best in a non-cupcake place meaning a non specialized place.

Ok so should I start by mentioning the amazing food, warm welcoming genuine staff or casual comfortable atmosphere?!?!?!  I'll start with the coffee because that's my FAVORITE!!!! The guarantee of a consistent hot fresh cup of coffee is what initially had me coming back day after day! (In warmer weather they offer iced coffee with fun fanciful shaped ice cubes like dolphins, sea shells, flowers and hearts!!!) Until.... I established myself as a "regular" among the staff. Now the lovely smiley faces of all the incredibly pleasant women who work and run the place are the main reason I come so often. I have actually established friendships with them and it's such a nice addition seeing them every morning! There aren't 100 things to choose from on the menu. Instead, they offer selections from a thought out menu. Very well made, extremely flavorful, satisfying meals for both breakfast and lunch along with enticing specials everyday! The frittata with sausage, spinach and swiss cheese is incredible with a crispy golden outside and a perfect fluffy eggy inside! The oatmeal is hearty and always the perfect texture offered with the yummiest brown sugar, hot milk, fresh fruit, nuts and dried cranberries! I've never had to wait longer then 5 minutes for a table, the turn over is relatively quick! There's always a nice buzz going inside of locals talking to one another, it's children friendly, they offer some patio seating in the spring, summer and fall and the music is ever changing and always seems to compliment my mood when I walk in! Fresh homemade pastries, scones, muffins, cupcakes, cookies and specialty desserts are amazing! Personally I am a huge fan of the bran muffin... I know! I know! Bran Muffin? Really? But it's not your ordinary bran muffin it's Bran-tastic! I'm obviously a fan. I give this place two muffin crumbed thumbs up!!! If they had an official fan cheerleader it would be me! GO! TASTE! LAUGH!
