I love 5 Salon & Spa. I have been a client for many years. From the moment you drive up, your are greeted by the valet parking attendant and walked into a top notch facility! The reception staff are just fantastic -- Celia and Kris, A+!
Color with Shelly and CK is spot on! Facials with Nicole are decadent.... and if you have the opportunity to book a facial with the owner, Larissa, you will leave there feeling like you lost 5 years off your face! Seriously!
Jaharia, love, love her blow outs. CK, also wonderful for a great sexy cut. Judy -- what a great spirit and always wants you to leave the chair happy... ah, how can you not? her personality is contagious! Nails with Angelica and Maria are just perfect.
Best for last is Laura.....her massages are just the best. Her newest body contouring massage and treatment is amazing! Thai massage and deep tissue are also great!
This is THE place to go for any beauty/spa/salon treatment in Bergen County!! -

For years I went to various different specialty eyebrow salons (threading and waxing) and always noticed that my eyebrows were never even. Essentially, I was paying a cheap price and got a cheap job done.
-Nicole was recommended to me by a friend with gorgeous eyebrows, so I decided to check out 5 Salon & Spa. She examined my eyebrows and told me where she thought they needed to grow in more, and in the mean time gave me a brief tutorial on how to naturally pencil them in to achieve the look I was going for. The wax that they use at this salon is fresh and doesn't hurt or rip hard at my skin. I am growing to love the shape of my brows each time I go back and I can't stress how important of a feature I feel it is to my face.
The atmosphere is much more relaxed here and the employees take their time with their customers.
Based upon my experience at this spa, I would give it a 5.
I would visit this spa again?Yes -

hmm....this shop offers services with possible hidden cost in the process.
I dyed my hair in this shop for $50 with coupon discount (original charge of $75). However, they charged me extra $30 for blowing my hair dry. I really do not think this is honest business style.
1. They never mentioned about this extra $30 cost for blowing my hair before they did it.
2. It is quite expensive no matter how you reason the $30 cost for just hair blown dry. I will not go back nor recommend my friends to go. -

The first time I came here, I asked for CK (based on the first review below). I told him I needed a change and to feel free to do whatever he wanted. He decided to go for a bob - long in front, short in back. Almost everyone working in the salon stopped by at some point and complimented the haircut, and even the owner - he was very impressed! After my haircut, I got so many compliments from friends and co-workers too. CK is a master of the bob & trendy/modern haircuts, and I've gone back many many times to get my haircut with him.
The salon is really nice & accommodating - I've run late and they put me with another hair stylist (who gave her own version of the bob with a much shorter layers in the back which I ended up really liking). They have valet parking - a plus in such a busy area as Fort Lee. The mailing list is really nice because they offer deals every week - more on the spa side than the salon side, but I've gottten the "bring a friend and get 50% off" deal. They serve you a drink and have bagels & grapes while you're waiting for your stylist.
The only thing I'd watch out for is that while the stylists here give an amazing haircut that looks perfect trendy, they don't seem to consider as much how a haircut will grow out. I think this is as important because otherwise your haircut only looks perfect for about a month, so I've had to go every couple/few months to get another $80 haircut (a little pricey but obviously I feel CK is worth it as I keep coming back). As someone who's had long hair her whole life until this bob and who has gone as long as 6 months without a haircut, this took some getting used to.
POSITIVES:
- Amazing haircuts, trendy. I like their products too (Kerastase).
- Excellent service.
- Good deals on their mailing list (and I've gotten free promotions along with my haircut - e.g. getting my makeup done for free by their new makeup artist).
NEGATIVES:
- The stylists don't consider how a haircut will grow out as much as they could. My haircuts are absolutely perfect for about a month before it starts growing out and doesn't look quite the same anymore.
- A little pricey - CK is $80/ cut. But it's still worth it in my book. -

Edgewater, NJ
Moved to the area over 1 year ago and have been searching for a hair salon that I can be loyal too. I went to my old salon for over 5 years and never cheated! This might be my salon in the new area. I will have to go for color to know for sure but my cut was pretty darn good! Oh love the Valet too ;)

I suggest you join their mailing list because they often send out discounts and specials. Their Sonya Dakar Basic Facial is $65 (usually $100) until the 28th of August.

This is the best Salon in NJ! The salon itself is magnificent, modern and very clean! While it is a higher end salon, it never feels stuffy or pretentious. The staff is lovely and always make sure you are comfortable and are having an enjoyable experience. I got my hair cut and protein treatment for hair by CK, followed by a mani / pedicure. It was phenomenal! I trust CK 100% with my hair, he really knows what he's doing. The service, the quality of workmanship, the salon experience as a whole will bring me back again & again. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Review from Lisa C.
Leonia, NJ
I had the worst haircut of my life here. I had until recently gone to a wonderful stylist in New York, near where I worked. But when I left that job, I searched for someone of similar quality--closer to home. I'd read great things about Salon 5, and it does in fact look the part of a top salon. The cost is certainly top-salon grade: my cut plus tip came to $120! Which would have been worth it for a great cut but alas--it was awful. I looked like a weird boy. When my husband told me it was crooked in the back, I actually went back and asked to have it redone. I've never done that before. They were very polite and accommodating--but they gave me the same girl, and of course I came out of there looking the same.
I just got a new cut in Leonia at Jay Salon. The cut is perfect--I LOVE it. Cost? $35. -

CK is a new stylist at Salon5. I live in LA, but made a point to track him down at Salon5 to get a cut when I visited friends in Manhattan. He is really great at assessing your personality, lifestyle, and desired look and finding the right cut for you. I wish he was still in my city! If you live anywhere near this place - check him out!!

I relocated to NJ and went to Nuala based on recommendation from my stylist at Vidal Sassoon. She was awesome. Then after she left, I tried CK. Let's just say this is literally the worst haircut I have ever had in my life. My hair has 2 cuts going on. One side of my hair is cut one way and the other side is cut another. You can see a diagonal line in the back middle part of my hair that highlights how uneven it is and that is not what the cut is supposed to be. I had 2 consults at other salons and they could not get over how bad my haircut is. I will definitely never go back to Salon 5. Also, I had my hair colored 2 times and the first time it turned out completely how I had said I didn't want it to be and the 2nd time it turned out slightly better but completely faded and looked terrible after 3 weeks. I'm 6 weeks later and going to a new salon on Saturday, Zoku, and cannot wait to have a real hairstyle again.
And I have a graduated long bob, so if that is CK's forte he clearly had no clue what he was doing with my hair.
Also, the salon is a mess and now that half of it is gone it seems completely unorganized and cluttered.
Save your money and go elsewhere!
