I got to try my hand at stand up for the first time when I stumbled in here for a quick bite and they were having an open mic night. The other comics were pretty decent, and there was a pretty wide array of demographics of patrons. So I liked the eclectic nature of the place. It's location is odd but offers you the opportunity to go to 3 different places all within walking distance of each other. They thrive mostly off of this and other live entertainment. Lot's of hip hop nights, but not a ghetto spot. If you have nothing to do give this place a shot.

Went on a Thur after work. Beer selection was so-so, surprised only 3 or 4 beers on tap. Hardly anyone there and prices were pretty high for the experience.

5 Monkeys is way down in the heart of Murray. I was invited here for a co-worker's going away party on Friday so decided to give it a try.
Outside it looks ghetto and run down. Inside is nice and I was surprised. It reminds me a lot of a small version of green street inside.
I don't smoke, but many of my coworkers do so we joined them on the patio where the hot sun was blazing down on us. There was only one small bench and nowhere to set our drinks. It was a small fenced in concrete pad. Yikes.
The food was ok, standard bar food. The hot wings weren't hot at all and my friend asked for an extra cup of hot sauce to dip hers in. The cook's explanation was that they make the sauce from scratch daily and it changes, so somehow today's sauce ended up sweet instead of hot. The nachos were beyond basic, a plate of chips and cheese with jalapenos on top came out. No beans, no olives, no sour cream, nada.
Drinks were on the pricier side but we had a good time. The place was roomy, the bartender was really friendly and helpful and they accommodated our large group quite nicely. -

Great place to get a drink, listen to live music, or grab a bite. The service was friendly, and the burger I had was delicious.

A nice bar far from downtown. This bar is a good option for those people who like to go out and drink occasionally, but they dont want to pack into a popular sardine can but also want to avoid a true dive bar. The interior is actually quite large and has many groupings of cushy couches and chairs that are either leather or faux-leather so they arent disgustingly stained and dirty. They have plenty of traditional tables and a second floor, which i actually have never been on, that overlooks the stage. They often have live music from local bands that are somewhat hit or miss. The staff is friendly and the patrons are generally nice and under control. They do have 2 pool tables, but they are way to close together and to close to walls to be truly usable. The food is what you would expect from a bar, but the cheese fries are quite tasty.
