The garlic cheeseburger is one of the best burgers I've ever had the pleasure of eating. I can't even explain what it is about it - it's just pure deliciousness.

My husband had their Juicy Lucy and we both enjoyed the thick cut fries. This place is busy most of the week so go early or be prepared to wait. Worth the trip, worth the wait.

A couple of my buddies wanted to go here so we tried it out. When upon entering, right off the bat the atmosphere was quite dull. Everything seemed to give a groggy vibe. But on to the food. I ordered a blue cheese burger with onion rings. While the portion was quite generous it wasn't anything special. If you expect anything more than an average burger joint than this is not the place to go.

The atmosphere is family friendly and the set up similar to any neighborhood restaurant: applebees, perkins etc.  However, there is no host, you seat yourself.

I was starving and already knew what I wanted and wanted to order immediately, but my table had to wait at least 5 minutes or more before a waitress stopped by. It wasn't particularly busy at all either, so there was no excuse for the lag in service.

In any case, when we finally ordered, the food came out quickly, so that was good. It was my first time having a jucy lucy, and it was certainly delicious. The cheese isn't super hot as some say though.  For a $6.00 burger, it's definitely great.

On occasion I've had $20.00 burgers, and honestly, the more expensive burgers are tastier in my opinion. But who has money to eat $20.00 burgers every day? For $6.00 the jucy lucy is fine in my book.

The place was ok, I think it's location because I went to the one in Champlin! I ordered the Juicy Lucy and I've had better at other restaurants. I also ordered the walleye basket which was decent. I don't mind going back but it will have to be the one in Minneapolis though.

Me and my wife decided to venture out and try someplace new.  The 5-8 club is very highly rated in the Mpls / St. Paul Magazine for their burgers (especially for their famous Juicy Lucy).  We decided to visit their Champlin location because they we closer to home.

When we got there we seated ourselves which was a little surprising.  The ambiance was not quit what we are expecting.  It was a little quite with the dining area separated from the bar.  The place had a very suburban strip mall feel to it, aka bland.

Since this was our first visit, we both ordered the same thing.  A traditional Juicy Lucy with a side of onion rings (and a small cup of coleslaw).  The food came in a reasonable amount of time and we both dug in.

First, the burgers were good, not great.  We we warned about the piping hot cheese in the center of the burger, but found the cheese warm but certainly not piping hot.  As we dug further into the burger, the cheese started to solidify.  Not good.  Next the onion rings.  They were just ok.  Nothing special.  I guess I was expecting something more, something made from scratch since this place was not a national franchise.  I could have gotten the same thing from the frozen food aisle in the grocery store.  Lastly the coleslaw was a little to creamy and not very crisp.  Again, just ok.

Overall the atmosphere did not enhance the experience at all.  It was mediocre food in a mediocre environment.  The service was good and the waitress was fine as well.  We were there at 4:00pm on a Sunday.

Im not a big burger fan, but since I live in Twin Cities, I thought I should at least try jucy lucy. We chose this location because it's closer to us.

We went there on Friday evening. The place was kind of packed. However, it was strange because we had to seat ourselves. It's not actually a small place so seating yourself when it's almost full house is just weird.

We started with Mozzarella sticks. I ordered Jucy Lucy's and my bf ordered mushroom and swiss burger. The mozz sticks were decent. My burger though was just ok. It wasnt hot, and the cheese didnt really ooze out, but more like a melted cheese that was going back to a sold state. My bf liked his burger ok.

Overall, nothing really wowed us. Now that Ive already tried Jucy Lucy's. I dont really need to try it again.

Their jucy lucy's are decent, but I almost always get the bleu cheese burger here. They cover the bleu cheese with swiss, which I originally didn't think I'd like, but it turned out quite well.

They also have wonderful broasted chicken which is one of my favorites. It come's with Jo Jo fries, and their version of Jo Jo fries are pretty sad. Jo Jo's should be much thicker , but they're still good.

They have happy hour on Saturday's which is a nice plus and summit on tap. I've never had problem with service, maybe I've just been lucky.

Is it just me, or am I the only one underwhelmed by the Juicy Lucys here? The meat isn't that hot, the buns have cold spots, and I have never been at risk of burning my mouth with hot bubbly cheese. I had the original with american cheese just over a year ago, and tonight I tried the pepperjack filled one with bleu cheese crumbles on top. The cheese was melted at least, with a layer of pickles on the bottom. Burger was decently juicy.

That aside, the onion rings are great, as are the fries and jo-jos. The price is solid for what you get, which is a lot of food. Huge selection on the menu, this is definitely not a one trick pony. Service is great, and atmosphere is like others have said, not hole-in-the-wall, but typical of a place in the 'burbs. Nice quiet dining area on the right with a bar side on the left.

The menu is quite extensive, I will be back to try the other variations on the juicy lucy and complete the free the cheese challenge! And I will ask for toasted buns next time...

For some reason their burgers are the tastiest I've had in the Twin Cities. They also serve broasted chicken which is my favorite. They supposedly have a birthday club which i applied for 2 years ago but never got confirmation. I miss the coupon they used to send out also.

For those that have tried the 5*8 Club close (relatively speaking) to the airport, be ready for a COMPLETELY different feel to the Champlin 5*8 Club.  Much less "hole in the wall"...which can be a good thing and a bad thing.  Same menu though...which is what really matters!  Good food, relatively decent selection of beers, and plenty of TV's to watch the game(s).

In terms of food, you pretty much have to go with the Juicy Lucy...and I would highly recommend the JoJo's as well.  The variation of the Juicy Lucy's are intriguing...but I still stand by the original.

Awesome place for food, in the summer they have old car shows, a treat if you're into that sort of thing.  The do have a bar, but nicely partitioned from the dinning room.  Outdoor seating in the summer as well.

The onion straws are awesome, if you get some, make sure to save a few to put on your Juicy Lucy!

The only downfall is that I wish they had a bigger dinning area/parking, it gets pretty crowded on prime night and at prime hours.

I just went here with the little family and I can tell that The Nook's burger is better, Jucy Lucy is good with some hot lava cheese oozing from the burger. Service was mediocre at best, and to top it off: the fries were tasteless !!!save your money for another burger joint period.

GREAT place to drink.  Happy hour is from 11 - 6 everyday.  Great food as well.  Had the Juicy Lucy that was on food network.  AWESOME burger.  One of the best I have every had.  So good and went back the next day for a second one!!!!

I would be back here in a heartbeat.  Just wish I lived closer so I could go more frequently.

i've gone to the one in south and this was considerably different and much cleaner. the staff was really nice and everyone greeted you. i got the pepperjack juicy lucy again to taste the difference and somehow, this tasted better than the one in south as well. the onion rings were good but a bit on the too crunchy side. my food goer had the juicy luigi and he ate the whole thing even though he was too full but wanted to finish it.

i'd choose this location over the original because it was more aesthetically pleasing

Just ate at the Champlin location. Good burgers but very slow service. The waitress didn't come back to our table to refill drinks after the food was served.   Kids meals are overpriced. Patrons who ordered long after us received their food before us and we had only two adults and a toddler at our table.

I have been to MPS several times on business, but this trip I had my first Juicy Lucy experience! It took me a few days to write this because it took a while for me to come out of my burger coma. I am not a huge fan of burgers in general. I just always find something more appealing on the menu. But if every place I went served Juicy Lucy's I would be a burger-loving queen! I ordered the original Lucy with American cheese and fries. Keep it simple. It did take a little longer than expected to get our food, but I was enjoying a few beers so I didn't mind. I minded even less after I was made aware the happy hour special was buy one get one for a dollar drafts. Now that's my kind of special! When my Lucy came I was feeling good but ravenous so I made the rookie mistake and took a huge bite. And the cheese was HOT! DANG! There is even a disclaimer on the menu that says to let the cheese rest a little before taking a bite. I'm an idiot. Once my mouth and burger cooled down I was able to enjoy the cheesy goodness of the Juicy Lucy. Ah-maz-ing. The cheese was just so good and oozed with every bite. The burger itself was a little overcooked, but with all the cheese you hardly noticed. The Lucy was huge but I couldn't stop eating it. I was stuffed but happy at the end of the meal. I'm definitely going to need another Juicy Lucy fix before I leave the Twin Cities. Oh, you betcha!
