So it's a reincarnated Denny's. The menu is...pretty close, enough that someone at DFO is probably unhappy about it.
Thing is, the service and food are damn good. I can chill here at odd hours eating a Western omelet (great) with crispy, crispy bacon on the side (awesome) and good, frequently refilled coffee (yay!) on top of the best part, free, speedy wi-fi clearly set up by someone with an idea of how to manage a network.
Graveyard staff is as friendly and funny as they were in the olden Denny's days, but less buttoned-down and way nicer about not caring if you're kinda camping provided nobody is waiting and you're not running them. In other words, they're often downright cordial, which makes 54 pages of Con Law reading go down much easier.
Plus, what this place never had when it was Denny's: CLEAN BATHROOMS. -

Per other postings, it's a former Dennys with a similar menu.
Staff is gracious, service is good, food is what it is, and free wifi. -

So this place is where Denny's used to be on 4th Ave. The menu is pretty much what you'd expect a Denny's too. The nice part of this place is it's open 24 hours a day! I find myself stopping in here when I'm waiting for work to get done on my car on 4th Ave or when it's late at night and I need a place to grab some food.
Service here is hit or miss. I've been here and had super fast service and somebody checking in all the time. Other times I've sat at the counter, had an empty glass of soda, and watched my food sit waiting to be served.
The food is your typical greasy spoon fare, but I really love the onion rings. And you can substitute them for free! If you're down in the area and looking for some late night food, stop in here. -

Food was good american diner fare. The place has successfully transitioned from a Dennys to a neighborhood diner, complete with waitstaff and customers that all know each other and grumble together.
Supposedly they have free wifi, I didn't try it but there's a big sign. Plenty of free parking and whatnot as it's just outside the city.
Would buy again. -

I went the the 4th Ave Diner to grab some breakfast while my car was being serviced at All-Star, on a Saturday, 0800. I consider this place a traditional American-breakfast diner, similar to Denny's, Shari's or other similar types of restaurants. I ordered the CFS, with scrambled eggs, sour-dough toast, hash-browns, coffee.
The food was good the for price, price was reasonable, and the service was good. I was seated and waited promptly - and my food arrived within a reasonable amount of time. Usage of the Wi-fi was an added bonus.
While I was there, it was pretty quiet - with soft music in the background - a few customers here and there. The was brightly lit with sun-light that morning. After though around 0900 - that's when it got real busy with the entire place was filled with customers - so I'm glad I ate breakfast an an appropriate time to avoid the breakfast rush hour.
All-in-all- I'm satisfied with this restaurant. -

Well, okay - this place has the good, the bad, and the ugly. First the bad and the ugly:
The decor is sterile. There is not one photograph or piece of art on the walls. Not even bad art or reprinted doctor's office art...the walls are not a lively color. I think they're gray?
The music player was broken, so the place was silent since we were just about the only family in there. All we could hear were kitchen sounds. Lame.
BUT - here's the good:
The service was fast and friendly. AND - I said I wanted my fries to be extra crunchy, and they were cooked perfectly. They really should get an extra star just for the fries alone.
We ordered the Country Fried Steak, a cheeseburger (with cheddar), and the chicken basket. Everything was tasty - no complaints. The fried things were crispy and fresh, as they should be. I love that my burger bun was toasted, so it had that extra, tasty burger-grill-flavored crunch that you usually get from a small roadside burger joint.
Our waitress checked on us several times and was very accommodating.
The bathrooms were clean. The drab decor and lack of any sort of atmosphere are kind of a drag, though. The place lacks personality in general. I've been in other old, reclaimed Denny's and diners that were given a funky retro fun feeling. It can be done. Not this place.
I'd still go back. Decent food and good service, plus the added benefit of being open 24 hours is enough to convince me to try it again, especially since it's in a very convenient location. -

Everyone once in a while I crave those All-American type of breakfasts you can get from Dennys. The 4th Avenue Diner actually used to be the old Dennys on 4th in SODO and was converted into this eatery where you can get that type of fare.
I needed a hefty, generous breakfast to start me off for the day because I had a long day ahead of me (all-day bachelor party), so I headed to the 4th Avenue Diner and ordered up a small feast. My dish consisted of chicken fried steak, a small stack of pancakes, eggs, hash browns, bacon, and sausage. I have to say, that really hit the spot.
The service was just a little slow because they only really had one waiter for the morning shift. However, he was still very friendly and repeatedly apologized for the short wait. Service was still fairly attentive after we got our food served and there were no complaints throughout the meal.
If I'm not mistaken, I think this is also a 24-hour joint, so that's definitely a plus. I love finding places to go when it's like 2am and you want to just chill with some breakfast for dinner. If so, then this is your place. -

If L. Ron Hubbard were to crawl out of his grave and shuffle his undead, bloated husk into this re-envisioned Denny's, he would likely give it anywhere from a 0.05 (Apathy) to a 0.98 (Despair) on the tone scale. The place is constructed with an off-putting angular architecture that seems to stab at your eyes like a hobo with a shiv. Our waitress's eyes told us that it had been literally *hours* since her last hit of meth; and the tattoos leading down her neck were a trail promising to lead us to her most secret treasures.
Aside from us, there was a family sitting in the booth next to us who had apparently just gotten out of church. It was 11PM on a Wednesday night. What kind of church is open that late? The fact that they were interjecting praises for Jesus at random moments during their conversation leads me to think they probably weren't Satanists--but of course, that's what the Satanists would want you to believe. -

The only reason I'm not rating as 5-stars is we've only gone here for breakfast. It's a great breakfast and 24 hour diner!
I love the old building and the classic menu. I feel like every time we walk in, I expect to see Walter Sobchak up at the counter explaining to The Dude how easy it would be for Walter to get him a toe by 3 o-clock. With nail polish. F'n amateurs!
Seriously though, it's a good old style breakfast diner joint. According to some people, the service is slow. However, considering how busy it is every time we go, I'm not surprised. The wait staff is always hustling, and they're always especially nice. Considering I've had that job before, I know it's a lot of work, so I am patient when I see how hard they're all working.
For some reason, breakfast in Seattle is categorically expensive (avg $7-12) at just about everywhere we go. That's somewhat true here too, although there are a few select gems (like "24 hour fave") that still give you a lot of food for less than $6.
We also went there today (Father's Day) and they were handing out coupons. This will offer a good opportunity to try the lunch menu sometime soon... -

It takes talent to ruin even toast. At places like this, I order eggs because they're a safe bet. I ordered a Denver Omelet and the ham was horribly salty--as if when they cured it, when someone added some salt, the top fell off because it wasn't screwed on tightl.
The OJ was fine though. -

Until a few month's ago this place was a Denny's, and it has the same staff it did then. When I asked, I was told the owners elected not to renew their franchise license. The Denny's-specific items like the Moons Over My Hammy and the various Slam breakfasts are gone, but it's retained much the same flavor and style. It's also still got its old policies like being open 24-hours and kids eating free on Tuesdays. The staff is still friendly, and the service is still slow.
I've eaten here twice since the conversion, and it's ok. I think the quality may have dipped a little bit from its franchise days. The first time, I had a fried chicken breast sandwich with bacon and ranch to dip in. Denny's served it on toasted sourdough or ciabatta, both sturdy enough for dipping and eating. The Diner's using a softer bread that broke up leaving my hand a mess. The second time I had a chicken fried steak which was all right but not a standout example of its kind. Still, the portions are generous and the price isn't bad.
My kid eats off their children's menu, and he quite liked their french toast offering. He was less enthusiastic over their cheeseburger, but I don't think he realized it WAS a cheeseburger until it arrived. He did like my chicken fried steak a lot. -

This is a Denny's again. It's pretty good. I would go to the Hangar Cafe way before here, but this Denny's is open earlier, er, like all the time.

This is the old Denny's on 4th. The inside is exactly the same. The menu isn't that different either. But the service was a little discomforting. When we walked in, the waitress and manager had a loud argument about who should greet us. Ick.

It is so nice to have a great, easy access place. Service has been wonderful, a real surprise. They took over an expired Denny's turned it into a first class family diner.
Thanks for being here, very convenient. -

So the food isn't over the top good but it's far better than Denny's or Shari's. I'ts as good as Beth's and better than Five Point has been since the management change. However, what sets it apart from those trendy hipster diners(Beth's/Five Point) is the service. Want your bacon crisp or limpy, extra crunchy has browns? just ask. They are always friendly and fast. If they aren't that fast always at least it's because they're busy and not because the hipster waitress is outside smoking a cigarette. (Five Point can KISS MY REAR.
