Review from Wesley S.
So I am not sure why this place got bad reviews, but I am perfectly happy with this place in the neighborhood. I came here to grab a quick mani / pedi and had Ines and she did an amazing job. While the place my not be as fancy as some of the other places I go, the service was great and the price crazy low. Cheers.

OMG. So my friends from out of town were staying in this neighborhood, and we decided on a last minute mani/pedi.
I felt like I was shoved in a bad Seinfeld episode or a remake of Anjelah Johnson's nail salon (remake because the techs were talking ish about us in Spanish instead of Vietnamese). Helloooo....we are from California. We understand Spanish!
So the entire time they were talking ish about us and rolling their eyes when new customers came in to ask for a mani/pedi. Isn't this your job?
It's not like everyone was rolling in 5 minutes before closing time.
Anyhoo, besides the piss poor service, they dug way too deep into my toes and it still hurts today (post-day 5). Another friend of mine had the same complaint. Nails chipped the very next day too.
Save your money and do it yourself (amateurs could do a better job) or go to a place and pay a few more bucks for decent service and a painless, longer lasting mani/pedi. The "cheap" mani/pedi just ain't worth it.Listed in: Get Pampered!

Cold pedicure. Rushed and chipping manicure.
Yikes. 'Nuff Said.
Go to Daisy Nails around the corner, and you won't be sorry. -

You get what you pay for here or maybe even less. Walked in on a late Saturday morning. It wasn't busy. Reg mani pedi price $25. I wanted French for both. They told me $3extra for hands and $4extra for toes. I said ok.
A novice inexperienced girl started to "work" on my nails. By work I mean destroy. She filed them some unusual uneven shape and dug deep with the cuticle cutters into the nail bed so that she was cutting into healthy skin. Bleeding ensued. I had to keep asking her to be more careful, not dig so deep, refile etc. She didn't understand. (English barrier? Or something else?) the manager came over and redid the filing, cuticle cutting and polish application. Then she assigned another employee to do the pedicure. That's why they get 3 stars instead of 1. I'm still scared...., -

This place is fine in all respects. It's fairly clean, has a wide selection of Essie polishes (no OPI or other brands though, just a ton of Essie), and the service is efficient and pretty good. The price is decent at $7 for just a manicure, although I think I'm willing to pay $1 more to go to J&J over on 3rd and get a little more ambiance.
This place is very no frills with the whole neon lights and slight polish remover smell in the air. My technician was pleasant and did a pretty good job. I walked in at around 1PM and I didn't have an appointment nor did I have to wait. I might return if I were in the area, but this place is merely A-OK.
EDIT:
Okay this manicure chipped roughly 48 hours later, which is a no-no in my book. I'm not hard on my hands at all and manicures generally last a week with no chips for me, even when I paint them myself. They started chipping from the bottom too, which is a sign that the nail person painted onto the cuticles, resulting in a breakage of the polish when the nail grows even a little bit, or if the cuticle skin moves around. Will not return.Listed in: Manicuring and Pedicuring

I am currently getting a pedicure and I want to jump out of the chair!! This is so disgusting!!!! I was originally going to go to my place down in the east village but I was limited with time. Anyway, the pedicure chairs are disgustingly dirty. The staff is not attentive or nice- one was on her phone the entire time. The place needs more than new wall paint- it needs to be torn down and re built! It's that disgusting. I'm definitely taking a shower when I get home. PS was going to get a mani, but after I sat down the last thing I want to do is spend more money on poor quality - my toes look worse than I came in!!

I guess crap talking about your customers is an universal nail salon custom..regardless of what language it is spoken in: Vietnamese....in this case Spanish. I guess my High School Spanish was not gone to waste..I knew exactly what you CHICAS were talking about. Don't you ever dare mock me when I am telling you the frickin water was too hot..or even too cold. Long story short..the experience was not pleasant..but I did walk out with polished paws...you get what you pay for so because it was super cheap..I guess I can't complain too much. A mani pedi plus a supposedly 10 minute massage was about 30 bucks. The workers didn't seem like they enjoyed getting business...they would constantly look at the clock when a new customer would walk in...I guess they were all in a hurry to get off work for Happy Hour.

I usually never have to wait when I swing by this nail salon. Their manicures always last me over a week which I love!

Save yourself disappointment and go elsewhere. I live next door and won't even return. Zero ambiance, the chairs have no massage feature, and I had several chips the next day. Sometimes a $21 mani/pedi is just plain CHEAP.

You get what you pay for here. Don't expect a chic salon. For $8 you can get a sanitary manicure, that is quick and well done. Usually lasts me about 8-10 days.

My nail salon of choice! The cheapest prices I've found in the Hells Kitchen Area -- $6 for a manicure, and $19 for mani-pedi Mon-Wed. Unlike the other cheapies I've tried, 46th Street Nails has air conditioning, modern appliances, and skilled employees.
Be forewarned, though -- customers flock here like bees to honey. It gets especially busy around 5:30 p.m., so be prepared to wait your turn. The good news is that you'll never wait long --these girls work fast. The downside to this, of course, is that your manicure-pedicure may feel rushed. It doesn't mean that the quality of the work is sub-par during busy hours, just that once you get into that pedicure chair, you wish you could stay there for just a couple more minutes...
Bottom line: Go for fast, no-nonsense work and low prices. Don't go for intense relaxation. -

This is a good place for an ok manicure and pedicure and the price cant be beat, $19.99 Mon-Wed and $22 other days.
It's not extremely relaxing and there isn't any ambience. The technicians are nice and thorough but polishing is not their strong suit. I had a manicure Monday and by Wedsnesday noticed the polish chipping near the bottom of my nails.
I would come back here because of the location and price. -

I go here because it's practically in my backyard and it's insanely cheap. The technicians are friendly and skilled. I've had better mani/pedis that are more relaxing and last longer, but you just can't beat this price.

well, after reading the reviews on yelp i figured 20 bucks how bad can it be. the truth pretty bad, it was more like a waste of time. The staff are fine, but its more about the place and quality of work. I walked in and ask for a mani pedi, i picked a color the lady didn't speak English but was warm and friendly non the less. The chair was pedi chair was broken as was the tub, so it wasn't nearly as relaxing as I expected. The overall service was eh. She took her time but the overall job was very basic. I then decided to just pay for the pedi $17 and pass on the mani as I expected it would be similarly disappointing. The good news is my toes are pink, I just wished I would have spent a little bit more and really enjoyed the expereince.

Cheap and gets the job done. I was a little hesitant to go but if it's in your neighborhood it's probably worth it. Haven't found another place in the area that's as cheap. Good essie & OPI color selection. they ask for tips in cash but might allow credit.

Do not go to this salon if you have or would like acrylic nails. I don't think they get much call for it, and when the woman doing my nails pulled the electric file off the dusty shelf and tried to remember how to use it, the other ladies working there crowded around to see what it did. I got up and left to find another place more accustomed to acrylics.
