Pizza is OK, nothing special, but several steps above dominos. To be specific, the crust is fairly good, right degree of thinness, slightly chewy, could be just a little crisper. Sauce not bad in flavor, toppings decent quality, but very poorly distributed, all on the center half of the pizza. They overcharge if you dare to want a half & half--too long to explain, just be sure to ask before you order! They give you a number thingy to put on your table, but then just call it out, dont serve you. Price for 16" meat lovers is $18--not bad, I guess. No atmosphere, better for takeout. My suggestion is take the time to drive a little farther out I-10 and go to Fralos instead.

Great pizza. Similar in style to Florios, though not quite as good. Thin crust, simple, yet flavorful sauce, not too much cheese. A quick and easy place for lunch.

Sad sad waste of promising ability to aspire into greatness.
All presentation, and an effort with the sauce and cheese quality but everything else falls short of true italian flavor.
Pasta quality is horrible, fresh sauce was amazing though way to thin (both alfredo and marinara) as though they water it down to spread it out. Quality however is still amazing, fresh cheese as well makes it pop with flavor. Then you hit the horrible staff who dont know their pasta from their crepes.
Ordered fresh mozz sticks which are huge though only 3 of them- still worth it. Marinara sauce is amazing and tastes fresh but thin.
When the entrees were announced i had high expectations that quickly fell flat. My simple baked penne pasta had the same sauce used for dipping the mozz sticks- no problem as it was tasty. But since its so thin it slides right off the cheap over oiled noodles and thus you catch no flavor unless making the effort to try eating italian pasta with a spoon!
My friends pasta was suppose to come with linguine noodles, the dish arrived with spaghetti noodles (which depending on the dish a change of noodle type can ruin the overall completion of what the dish should be). I went up and asked if they were out of linguine, which i was told yes, they were very sorry.
I was upset that they couldnt have had the mind to tell us before the dish was made so as to save the waste of returning it to the kitchen. She instead ordered a basic alfredo dish (also to come with linguine), which was made with....you guessed it linguine noodles.
About this point i was pissed that we had been lied to, a simple mistake of using the wrong noodles could have been rectified by remaking the first dish with the correct noodles. Once again if they were making a dish a realized the correct noodles were in fact in stock they could have asked us if we would have preferred the original dish remade instead of the substitute dish chosen. We were the only table in the restaurant but im sure their very loud tomfoolery that disturbed even the tv's noise in the dining room was more important than us getting what we paid almost $40 total for.
Needless to say the poor quality noodles, watered down sauce, and apparently ignorant employees with annoying tendency to fool around like high schoolers just because the restaurant is near empty have completely 86ed this restaurant from ever becoming a favorite of mine.
Only reason id ever return is the mozz sticks and i can get similar version at olive garden with a better pasta than this place is capable of. -

omnomnom! this was brought home for dinner by a roommate and it was gooood. When I get a cheese-less pizza it's usually hit or miss, but the toppings, crust, and sauce were so good that even the omnivores wanted some.
Crust was best part by far. No, maybe it was the finely sliced onions or tomatoes that were perfect for pizza. Noooo, it was definitely the sauce.
Hm. Guess it was all good. :) -

I just stopped in to get a couple quick slices of Za. First off they only offer pepperoni or cheese by the slice (weak). The pizza was cheap enough, but the taste wasnt all that great, it was tough like it had been sitting out. I would say that IF you check this place out, try something other than the pizza by the slice. For me, if I get something that blah at a place, I dont have confidence that anything else I order there will be that great.
Rome's or Goombas are close and WAY better. -

Very cheap good italian food.
I had the spaghetti and meatball. There was a lot of leftover sauce so that made good for the free bread they gave us. Sadly the bread was hard. I wasn't a fan, but it's free!
I would go back to try the cannoli. -

Great Pizza....subs are good too. I'm a NJ native and this is about as good as you're going to get down here in SA. There are other decent pizzas around town, but this is definitely one of the best. Hope they keep it up and open a place further NW. Cheers! =)

Fair pizza, poor customer service. With so many pizza places in town, i'd pass on 46th street. Try Romes Pizza just down the road if you're looking for a good pizza and salad.

I'm not the biggest fan of pizza, probably because it's so hard to find a good one...BUT I do enjoy the flavors that 46th Street has to offer.
At first glace, it looks like a small Pizzeria, and those are usually some of the best. As you walk in, you might be a little thrown off by the somewhat odd, grey decor, but don't let that mislead you. Maybe they were going for the New York, concrete jungle look.
My favorite dish at 46th Street is the pepperoni calzone. LOTS of ooey gooey mozzarella, fresh ricotta and some zesty pepperoni all cocooned in the crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside crust. Be forewarned - the calzones are HUGE. It's pretty much an entire pizza folded in half with a side of marinara sauce in a soup bowl.
Let's not forget about their pizza! I enjoy the Hawaiian pizza myself. Fresh mozz, ham, and pineapple make for a tasty pie. I really want to commend 46th street for their crust! It has the right amount of crisp, and a little chewiness. The crust is thin too, so it won't overwhelm you with bread.
I go there for lunch every so often, and my co-workers fight for the leftovers I bring back. Lord knows I could never finish that calzone by myself, lol! -

Their salads are good. Pizza is piping hot. Crust isn't as thin as Grimaldi's or Florio's. And it's affordable too.

Great pizza at a very reasonable price. The dough doesn't compare to any other pizza joint here in san Antonio. I've never been to New York but my husband has and he claims this is as close to new york style pizza as san Antonio gets.

A piece of the Big Apple has sneaked into town. It's 46th Street Pizza. First time I went there, we had the 46th Street special pizza. Had most every topping you can imagine. Awesome pizza. Very authentic. Next time, I had a sausage calzone. This thing was bigger than my head! Their marinara is some of the best in town. Basic sauce that will still knock your socks off. Do yourself a favor and grab a slice or a calzone for lunch. You won't be disappointed. Fuggedaboutit!!!

The sauce and toppings are very close to the flavors I remember from my NYC hometown. The crust is slightly on the soggy side and needs a little bit more work, but it is still much better than most of the pizza abominations I have tried in San Antonio. I will go back.

The best buffalo chicken pizza I have come across in San Antonio yet and I really have been looking. I think it's expensive compared to most pizza places in the area but definetly worth it on ocassion. It is in a strip mall right off I-10 and DeZavala and can easily be missed if not really looking for it.

What a find! Hidden away in a strip mall. One of my new favorites for New York style pizza. The restaurant is small, clean and inviting. The sususage sandwhich is awesome. They bake their own bread, it is crunchy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. I love the white pizza with fresh tomatoes and basil. The kids love the traditional cheese pizza. Excellent crust! Easy to "fold" and eat!:)

I am glad this Pizza place opened at this location. The Pizza is very very good compared to the alternatives. I have had their pepperoni pizza with mushrooms and olives and it is delicious. Their wings are ok but not really comparable to say the 'Wing Stop'. The lasagna is interesting because of how fine they grind the ground beef but I found it good as well. The salads are a very good value (lots of goodies) though they feel more like a home made salad (may be because of the lettuce). I absolutely will make this place my 'go to' pizza place, even if they don't deliver.

I have never tasted real "New York" pizza, but iv tried many so-called "New York" pizza places here in SA, Austin, and Houston. So my opinion is limited to faux pizzerias.. Since this was my first time here i ordered the pizza which represents their store.. "The 46th street pizza specialty" with all toppings.. Can't say this pizza stands out from the rest but worth trying at least once and developing your own conclusion. If your going to compare this place to "Doughs" or "Grimaldi's" you will be disappointed. The crust is chewy but tasty. The toppings are salty and don't taste rich. The amt of sauce they apply is perfect and taste good. The presentation of the pizza appears they just tossed toppings anywhere. That said, you may have slices with or without certain toppings. The wings are a bit soggy but do tast better than any fast food pizza joint around. All this said I would not eat here again because I just wasn't impressed. I like trying new places until i find a find the best place. My favorite pizza is still papa johns. I recommend to try at least once and go from there.

Wandered into 46th Street Pizzaria on a cold rainy day on a fluke and I'm thankful I did. Ordered a medium pepperoni pizza for my brother and myself and we left very satisfied. definitely one of the better pizza places in San Antonio, but there's room for improvement. The toppings were excellent but the crust could have used a bit more excitement. I'll be returning to 46th Street Pizzeria very soon.
