Lucky me, to have searched for, stumbled upon, found this little gem of a medical clinic. Nice to know there are really great practitioners providing real health care for regular folk-- amazing almost in our era of strangulated, last gasp #$!* healthcare.
First timer impressions: very nice people - from person who answers phones (yep, a little hold time, but worth the wait) to well staffed, helpful reception, totally efficient + savvy nurse practitioner to doctor as smart + professional as they come and pharmacist to inform of side effects/what not to do -- these people have it together. Love the staff + the building (seriously, gotta see it) + the fact that they see lots of people BUT still listen + help. Whatta ya call it? Oh, yeah, health care! -

I'm not sure why anyone would rate this place badly. I've been going here for over a decade off and on and it's the best low cost health care I have ever received. I'm so thankful to have had this option and so, over the years, even when I have insurance, I continue to go here. A lot of it is Dr. Alison Fitzgerald who is one of the most knowledgeable and forthright doctors I've received care from.
Sure sometimes I have to hold a while if I call the clinic, sometimes appointments are rushed because they stick to a (15 minute?) time frame and they have very strict policies about attendance but it is a CLINIC. I think they are doing an job with what they have to work with, budget cuts, etc.
By and large the staff are amazing. And I've never been sent to collections by them, nor will I probably as they have you pay upfront for your visits. -

I am very hesitant when it comes to doctors, due to poor past experiences. I moved down to Seattle about two years ago and finally decided I should establish primary care here. I made an appointment with Dr. Keri Schwartz.
The clinic seemed busy, but everybody was very friendly and helpful when I got there. I appreciated that their health survey acknowledged the LGBTQ community. When I was talking to Dr. Schwartz, I felt like she truly cared about my well-being. She listened and didn't just try to give me a prescription and get me out the door. We devised a plan to get me off of my current medication, and she set me up a follow-up visit a month later to see how it was going. I don't have a single complaint. -

This review is primarily regarding billing practices at this clinic. I have been sent into collections by this clinic TWICE. Once for a bill of $11 and once for a bill of $22. Every time I visited I would check and make certain that my mailing address was correct and that they had my insurance and payment information on file. I would always pay bills I receive in the mail from them promptly. But still, I get sent to collections! I cannot wrap my head around this. I don't live in the area any more, but just today I got a call from collections for this very small bill from 2010. Why don't they mail me the bill, or call me? Or just charge the card I use every single time I visit? Why send me to collections? I know these agencies must cost them money, and if they could just keep on top of their records I would pay them directly every time. But I can't pay a bill I don't know exists. I shouldn't have to call the office and badger them, asking "so did I really pay you everything I owe you this time, like for reals and stuff?"
This is a very good clinic overall, they have been very good to me every time I visited. I am so thankful the clinic itself exists! They just need to hire someone competent to manage the books. -

This clinic is probably understaffed and has way too many patients.
Aside from that and the long waits that happen because of it, my two experiences with doctors/nurses here have been very good. They were knowledgeable and pleasant to converse with.
My one gripe: One Monday when I went to my pharmacy to fill my prescription. On Tuesday I discovered that I had run out of refills (they failed to tell me last month), so the pharmacy sent 45th St Clinic a fax asking for the refills to be approved. They got no response.
They sent another fax on Tues or Wedn. No response.
I called the clinic on Wedn, and they said they'd get the fax sent asap.
On Friday/Saturday, they still hadn't let the pharmacy know I was eligible for refills.
They didn't get around to getting that fax to the pharmacy for 1-3 weeks, so I got to skip a month of BC pills and had to start over the following month. It supposedly takes 2-3 weeks of taking them for them to become "effective," so skipping a month and making me start the process over kind of sucked. (I love messing with my hormone levels... don't you?)
Other than that, though... it's been good. I just wish they wouldn't have taken so long to send a fax to my pharmacy. -

It is true that that have a large patient load, making it probable that they seldom take new patients. But they are so good, that if they do have a waiting list, it's worth it. They have a great sliding scale although it gets a little "red tapey" to prove your annual income every year, but that is worth it as well.
Dr. Fathi is GREAT. He doesn't spoon feed the patients and really talks to you about your health in a progressive and intelligent way.
He has even printed information about my health concerns for me off the internet to take home with me, and handed it to me when I was upstairs in the pharmacy. That's a doctor who really cares about you, eh? -

When I went here for years it was great. Much change. More social welfare programs. Less good service. Being put on hold for extended times was a drag. Calling back and getting the same thing was too much. I changed clinics. Things just degenerated.
I always wonder.. how might they be now?
I had some great doctors and a not good therapist (she was very stressed out) and a couple not so skilled nurse practitioners. I was allowed to get a tetanus shot right away after being bitten by a stray cat. -

45th Street clinic has a sliding payment scale for those without insurance (and takes most private insurance). I think that it can be difficult to get an appointment as a new patient, but as long as you call ahead, it should be fine (I called and was able to get an appt the next day). They're one of the only clinics I've ever been to where I felt they actually really cared about my overall health (and not just my immediate symptoms). The paperwork you fill out is extensive, but helps them to actually know your medical history (and unlike most clinics, they don't ignore the unique needs of women and LGBTQ individuals). Very good experience here.
You do usually end up on hold for a long time when you call, but I've personally experienced that at almost every medical clinic that I've been to. -

Nice neighborhood clinic in the old and renovated firehouse. Offers many medical services and programs. Could be a nice resource if you don't have a job with benefits and need some cheap medical care.

I went here because I though it'd be friendly, small, and cheap. They read my tests wrong. I don't care how many letters are attached to their names, how many years they spent in school, that can't make a wrong answer into a right one by sheer professionalism. My doctor is incredibly hard to get ahold of, they are medical staff are impersonal and unknowledgeable, almost to the point of negligence. Every time I call, it takes 12 minutes to talk to a real person, no one remembers who I am, and the person I'm told I should speak to is either never there, or tells me I need to talk to another person- usually the person I just hung up with. 12 more minutes of hold time. Also, I was billed for a flu shot I was told would be free (and that's the only reason i took it, that and the nurse kept pushing it on me), and I wasn't that I could save money on my bill if I paid before the appt. In fact, I had to ask them how I could pay. I would like a more reliable doctor who works regular hours that I can get in touch with easily, not weeks later. Funny thing is, this IS a small office. They're just exceptionally bad at organization and communication despite having that advantage.
Also, though it appears clean (that's what the extra star is for), I got an injection without prepping or cleaning the area and without a cotton ball, just a little backwash of injection and blood pooling up on my arm.
I hate hating people. And I hate these people for making me feel like I hate people. -

The best thing about this place is the location. If you live in Wallingford and you shop at QFC, this place is just really easy to go to.
Other than that, nothing really stood out as great or terrible to me. The staff were all nice and friendly, and my doctor (actually a nurse practitioner, I think, but whatever) was great - she spent a lot of time with me and was very kind. So, I didn't feel rushed and no one was rude, which is a plus. The service is good - not exceptional but totally acceptable. On the other hand the wait was a little long, and the waiting room is very small and cramped.
This clinic has cool programs like medical services for homeless youth and sliding-scale fees for people without insurance. It's definitely a very different ambience from a big slick HMO. As someone with really solid insurance I realized that I was a little unusual and felt slightly out-of-place. I'll keep going here because I liked the doctor and I figure the pile of money from my insurance probably helps out their valuable programs. -

This place is the worst for organization. It takes two weeks to process a referral!! TWO WEEKS is two weeks too long. I also tried to pay by sliding scale since I lost my insurance recently. They had me talk to a financial counselor and bring in all my paperwork only to tell me that I made too much money on unemployment to even qualify for the sliding scale fee. I asked them why they couldn't just tell me the minimum amount over the phone and they told me I had to come in just to find that out. What a waste of my time. I ended up paying full price after all that. I could of gone to my old clinic and paid full price. If you call to make an appointment, expect to be put on hold for 10 -15 minutes. The waiting room is awkwardly small and you'll wait a long time to see someone. Really, I don't recommend this place at all unless you are penniless and have no other options. There are lots of qualified physicians in Seattle and more efficient clinics so why go here to get 3rd class treatment.
