Its been well over a year since I've been to Sound Bar.
I have to say they never cease to amaze me. Last time I was there it was " an panaramic orgy of visuals."
Now its some sort of story book  setting for The Last Emperor or something. Cool Asian Decor, even swankier lounges in the middle room.
As a single girl now, it was so pleasant to find attractive  young MEN not silly boys. I love the international clientelle and flair for the beautiful.
The staff is consistantly polite and helpful.
Seems that this place has gotten more popular in the past year or so, but without the annoying DBAGS that go to other clubs I've passed through this summer ie up towns newest DBag hang out and some other 1st Ave Clubs.
The pattio was just crazy with salsa swinging couples , delicious smelling food , and a heap load of hot faces everywhere smoking, kissing, dancing, laughing, and just having a great time.

ONe downfall, is the street side construction, but from what I hear, will be beautiful in time for the new stadium to open up next door.
Still my fav club in all of the twin cities!

Finally a place with really good music and dancing that is not ghetto or douche-baggy.  This club just opened last summer so I hope to God it stays this way!  You can wear a skirt and not worry about getting grabbed.

This is predominately a tranny bar before 11 PM.  Boys and Girls use the same sink area but it's very pretty inside.  The coat check is $1 and our hard liquor drinks were $7 each.

The DJ(s) were FAB-U-LOUS along with the decor and lighting.  One of the coolest bars in Mpls. by a landslide.

I'm surprised that this place isn't busier.  I suppose that it is a bit off the beaten path.  It is my favorite club, keeping in mind that I am more of a pub guy.  There is great club music, a large dance floor and an eclectic mix of people.  I think a lot of trannies go here, or there are a lot of manly looking women.

The reason that it is my favorite club is that it has minimal frat boy, d-bags and few skanky classless women.

This was a Place that was Sizzling Saturday night!!.
The Crew and I were Limosined there around 1045 .
Amazingly creative in the main room, Very Gen X.  With Decor that you have never seen before. Making you think your in another world.
We had Bottleservice VIP, and received outstanding service. In spite that the Joint was so packed. House in the Main room, and Hip Hop in the other. I would have to say that this will be a club to watch out for in 09

Hahaha. I don't mean to sound sarcastic, but this was so so so lame.

If a nightclub ever had an identity issue, this would be the one.
Soundbar is divided up into two dance areas, the one to the right, and the larger one being the techno, house trash kinda music; and the one to the left, has a live DJ spinning today's top 40s countdown.
You know, the kinda music you ALWAYS hear on the radio?

At one point of the night... I think he was also spinning the electric slide. Just.
    I can't even start.

We went for an Indian night?
First of all, does Minneapolis know what bhangra, bollywood music is? The DJ tried his best to incorp this, and if it were any other place, say New York - he would have gotten an audience.
It has a good beat, he combined techno crap. No one cared.
Reggae with indian beats - still no one cared.
Hip hop - still no one cared.

Then he tried spanish music, reggaeton, salsa etc?
And like, I don't think people realize they could actually dance to this.

But hey now, put on the PEAS and it's a party.

    LAME. SCENE.

And hence why the electric slide got people on the dance floor.
    WOW.

Between the two rooms is what can only be described as "duvet: in New York." But way cheesier.
    Gah.

No amt of alcohol could prepare me for this scene, however the drinks here are strong.
    And for good reason.

I was invited to Soundbar for a friend's birthday party.  I could barely find the obscure little club, and upon entering I felt I needed a secret password and someone's name to drop to get through the doors.  Alas, myself and my date made it inside.  The atmosphere was amazing.  Great lighting, house music, swanky little lounge areas, and trannie-watching.  I've never been any place like it in Minneapolis, then again, I gave up on the club scene long ago after too much grab-ass hip-hop and growing out of the Ground Zero era of my life.  Soundbar was sexy and sheik, and I would have grooved my body after a few drinks, but sadly they had little to choose from, and they ran out of the couple of things I wanted.  Nothing on tap, and only 5 beers by the bottle-WTF?

i guess for what it is, this place does it pretty well. i have personal issue with any place with a cover charge since they also overcharge for drinks. if it were cover but cheap drinks or no cover but medium price drinks, fine, but this place screws you on both. i guess for people who are into trendy hip clubs, its worth it and this place is likely better than most of the other ones.

the pluses were, seriously hot bartender in the back room who didnt look at me like i was an asshole when i asked what the cheapest drink was, after paying 6 bucks for a corona. getting a mojito for 5 bucks until they "ran out" (WTF) was a better deal.  i also im a sucker for reggaeton and salsa after i am drunk, not so much on the music inside in the back, but from there you can stare at the hot bartender. i also was amused by the door and security staff all being russian.  it could be time for some russian mafia in town- they thought they were very intimidating and assertive.

the outside area is pretty cool, flowy decor stuff in the air and comfy seating and good music outside with djs. you can also spend FIFTEEN bucks (ouch) to smoke some hookah thing at your table.  like most clubs ive been to in the last year, the bathroom is a gender shared one, which i dont really get. like its not bad enough to have to go the girls one where girls pack in checking themselves out in the mirror, now i have to deal with pee all over the seats and floor  from drunk unaiming guys and feel slightly more awkward about pressing my face close to the mirror to see if i have shit in my teeth from dinner or the lime from the 6 buck corona.

there was some amazing dancing going on and even a couple that appeared a la dirty dancing to do some pre-rehearsed insane salsa number. i dont really get it unless they offer classes later, but if they werent a couple, each definitely got laid that night.  would maybe go back if i were into pricey clubs. but would rather dance in a friends family room with a bottle of two buck chuck

Who knew Minneapolis could support a budding Eurotrash scene? Apparently Soundbar is the breeding ground for gold lame shirts on dudes. Friday from 8-10pm is $5 all you can drink. If you show up at 8pm, you will be the only one there. And you won't be allowed in the back lounge for some reason. But, the bartender is a doll and will remember your drink for the rest of eternity. Tip him well. Beware the patchouli and bad house music.

A cool, underground club that has been updated with the newest in club technologies including lights, visuals, VIP system, and sound! In the main room, video monitors provide a 360 visual lighting experience to accompany the DJ, state of the art sound makes only one thing possible; dance like mad to house and electronic music. VIP area is on the floor, fitted with clear coffee tables, white benches and seats, and first-rate cocktailing service.  Tired of dancing? Go chill in the "Penthouse."  This room is comfortably decorated with local artists, printed wallpaper, and music/lighting that will invite you to lose your inhibitions.

So I recently went on a road trip to Minnesota and no trip would be complete without some partying. I did my research and this club looked really nice. Well that's all it was. Walked in and somebody puked on my friend. The cover charge on a Saturday night was only $7 which is ALOT cheaper than Chicago clubs. In on room it was techno and the other room there was somebody rapping. The place was tiny too. I can't comment and the drinks since I was only in there for about 10 minutes and I didn't drink there.

There's quite a few things I love about this place. First off, It's got that sexy atmosphere. I love how they set up the lounge area around the dance floor. I think that's a good choice. Also they have two areas for dancing. I like how they have two DJs. If you don't like one choice of music, then you can dance outta there to the next room. If you don't like either music, this place is probably not for you. We didn't have any trouble getting the drinks we wanted. Oh yeah, one more thing I APPLAUD about this place. Some clubs I've experienced in the past, they would kick you outta the bottle service lounge area even though they aren't reserved. This place lets you hang out on these lovely, comfortable sitting area, which is the lounge area for bottle service. I really like that. The people working there just reminded you that if there were bottle service we would be asked to move. One downside, coat check is mandatory and slow. But overall, I'm a hugeee fan of this place and that means, I'm comin back for sure.
