I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place. It. Is. Righteous.

A great staple for me of Silverlake. You almost have to end a night here for it to feel right. Later on in the night is when it usually starts to get hoppin' and that is the time when it starts to get really poppin'. Ugh. Lets forget I used that word and use fun instead.

Great bartenders and whether you start with a PBR or go straight for a liquor drink(they do some nice heavy pours - if that's your thing) - this place will not disappoint and it will leave you wanting to hit this place back up again.

And usually there are some smoked ribs being cooked outside along with a possible street meat vendor. So, be warned, it's so good at the end of the night - esp after more than several drinks.

    See you at the bar.

ALL Hipsters Den.. so if you are a Hipster/ wanna be one, come here..=)

Looking from the outside (ghetto looking place & smelly) you'd never expect the inside to look like a nice dimly lit Asian/ Arabian themed bar.. =) +1

But with all the drapery going on here, it kinda makes you feel a bit claustrophobic because of the lower ceiling feeling from this effect.. =( -1

Really dark interior, but this is great if you wanna hook up...=)

Great place for singles to hook up =) that's what everyone here @ this place does. =) +1

Drinks are ok, kinda pricey for location, but the bartenders here are fast & attentive =) +1

Parking here can be a pain in the butt but many peeps park around the neighborhood. But these places can get filled up fast too.. =( -1

Ambiance here is just ok I'd say, a lot of cliquish groups though..-1

Jukebox plays pretty good music here but not good music for dancing.. (A-ok I'd say) but can be boring if you're not a Hipster/ if you  don't like the Hipster kind of scene.

    Listed in: A-okay =)

Pretty much agree on point with every other 4-star review. The ambiance quite nice, and most importantly I was able to get too drunk for a pretty low bill. Also, it's one of the very few places in LA where I've talked to complete strangers and wasn't overcome with douche-chills, so I'd definitely revisit this bar!

Oh yeah, they also played Hall and Oates while I was there, and pretty much everyone was jauntily singing along, which made me feel very happy inside. Take that for what it's worth.

Cool spot, music was great, attractive crowd, and drinks were potent yet smooth.

Drawbacks: Parking sucks and found out the hard way their credit card machine was broken.  Really, on a SATURDAY night?!?!  When we requested tab to be closed the wait time was almost 30 minutes only to be advised we had to pay cash.

I'll think twice before heading there again!

Had the pleasure of living 2 blocks from here for a couple months, and one of my regrets was not being able to frequent this fine neighborhood bar more.

Dim and dark, with a air of mystery. Jukebox. And hipster central. All make a great combo for a fun night. The prices are about right for the area (I believe I paid $8 for whiskey and coke once) and the bartenders are super friendly and knowledgeable. My housemate frequents here more often and apparently on weekends and even Sunday nights, this place can be quite a meat market for those who are single (but not in a creepy way).

    Never fails me!

I found this place with a good friend of mine, we were driving around...lost looking for a bar - we found this one instead. From the outside it didn't look like anything special - but don't judge a book by its cover.

This place has a great ambiance. Nice lighting, attentive bartenders and a trendy crowd. Makes it perfect for a couple of beers with the boys or a glass of wine with the chica.

*Parking is always a struggle, but its worth parking a couple blocks away to walk.
*Most people are dressed trendy or hipster-esque. A t-shirt and jeans will do!

4100 is def 1 of my stops when im in LA.

Came here on a Friday night.

After trying to go to Little Temple and being told "This is a club, not a bar". Then walking to Eagle LA and being told "This is a gay bar"

We ended up at 4100 Bar. As soon as we walked to the door the music was already calling us in. Got there at 9ish and there was already a good crowd. We found a booth among the cool seating they have. The drinks were strong and not expensive. Its a great atmosphere to just hangout and drink.

This bar is hands-down one of the best bars in Los Angeles! The music is great, the bartenders know how to pour a good drink, and the people that come here are chill. Great place to come with 5 to 7 friends or a date. ;)

Dress: You could dress up a bit or come casual. Most people are trendy/hipster. I've worn both jeans and dresses (on different occasions, haha).

To get a barstool or table, come before 10 p.m.

There's a lot going on in a place that you can't even see... and that's 4100 Bar!  Yes I swear it was darker than outside.  You're out when it's dark and you walk into an even darker place to drink and mingle with people you can't even see.  The only people you could see were the bartenders that had spotlights directly above them.  My friend fell in love with the bartender and tipped him for water.

The jukebox is playing in the background as people are gathered around the bar to grab a drink or sitting in the booths.  Some of the cushions are a bit torn up and overused and in some kind of funny way you think you're going to sit down to a certain point but then your butt just sinks in even deeper.

This place is nice for intimate get togethers.  Most of the people there are coupled up or in small groups.  I know I had an intimate moment with that cushion....

So the person I went to with this bar has been several times and suggested us going here. I must say I was very happy to have gone! The ambiance is amazing! Super cool chill place with an awesome jukebox. You can chose your own music on a computer/jukebox which is a cool idea! The drinks are amazing! In particular the French Martini. I didn't know what I wanted but told him to make me something sweet and strong! Well he said after two of these most women walk out stumbling.. I had 3 or was it 4? Hmm at any rate I loved loved it! Super tasty and very potent! I also tried the infamous dickle pickle people keep mentioning! I'm not a whiskey drinker but the guy I was with is so I braved up took a swig of the Dickle whiskey and took a sip of the pickle juice! OMG YUM! It cut down the harshness of the Whiskey immediately! There are couches in the back corners of the room which are nice if you want to have a nice intimate talk with whomever you are with! Awesome drinks, great bartenders and great ambiance!

I like the new 4100, how they knocked out some windows up against the wall, that was a great addition.  I do NOT like how my friend and I stood at the bar for about 10 minutes while the bar tender decided NOT to serve us.  She walked around to the other side of the bar, she looked at us and kept going... we waited.  It was an UNBUSY sunday night, not many patrons at all and it didnt appear that she was doing anything while we waited... and waited.  Then she walked past us to the other side of the bar... we waited.  Then she began to leisurely count money while we ... waited.  I finally had to say excuse me?! to get her attention, after which she sauntered on over.   We have NEVER been treated that way at the 4100 before!  She was lucky to have gotten the dollar tip for 2 drinks cuz she so deserved zero tip for that lack of attention.  So BOOOOOO new waitress with brown hair BOOOOOO!!!!

This place is affordable ($5 craft beers on draft), has great music on the juke box, and and a cool, laid-back atmosphere.  It gets pretty crazy on fridays and saturdays but I suppose all good bars in LA do. Stop by if you want good drinks at a reasonable price without going anywhere dive-y.

As a person who doesn't frequent too many "dive bars", I don't know how much you should actually take this review to heart.

Came here after dinner to get a drink.  The parking lot is REALLY small and trying to find street parking can be pretty difficult, but we happened to snag a spot in the parking lot after driving around for a few minutes.

The decor is pretty cool.  Although it was pretty hard to see because it is insanely dark in there!  They had a Moroccan type theme to the place and pretty much everything is red.

The bartender was super nice.  He was attentive and gave us time to make up our minds.  I wasn't too excited about the fact that they don't have a drink list... I tend to be indecisive and usually a drink list helps.  It also gives me the opportunity to be brave and try something new... Yet I stuck with a traditional Grey Goose and soda.  The drink was good, but how excited can you get about a vodka/soda?

The bathroom, SO SMALL!  It's pretty much a 5x5 cell.  Oh and the ladies room door had a broken lock.  So you can imagine the anxiety I felt trying to get my business done without someone opening the door and exposing me!

The music is really loud, but it didn't really bother me.  There is a jukebox (which is cool) but it leaves you open to having to listen to some drunk dude's Guns n Roses play list (which is not cool).

We left after our first drink.  I can't say my experience was terrible, but given the fact of the parking/broken lock situation, I probably wouldn't go back.

I thought my friends were taking me to some ghetto bar from the outside, but it's really cool once you step in. Really great vibe and atmosphere. The service is on point. Good drinks for decent prices. Well mixed crowd, leaning towards more hipster/trendy though. One star down, since all the tables were taken, and the only seating available was a nook which left me holding my drinks all night.

This place has a special place in my heart.
My girlfriend and I wanted to visit Silver Lake area so we of course yelped what places were good.  4100 Bar was our top choice, between Akbar, Blue Goose, and Harvard and Stone.  We were so excited to visit 4100 but as we approached that google map "destination" dot, we were welcomed with the most ghetto look bar ever.

My friend slowed down and was like "Omg no" and we drove off.  Well, Blue Goose was not that happening, Harvard and Stone was crowded, and then we saw that Akbar was gay night so we went back to 4100 with our tails tucked between our legs... and surprisingly, it was not ghetto at all once you got in!

Decor: The decor was awesome!  It reminded me of Dubai or some Arabian Nights mixed with some asian themes? (random Buddha out of no where).  The vibe was pretty cool cuz it wasn't so loud that you have to yell at the top of your lungs.  The only CON that i can think of is that the place is SO DARK!! I honestly couldn't tell if a person was facing me or their back was facing me.  Really really dark, so if you are hoping to be able to see where you're walking or who you're talking to, you might want to drink a lot so that your imagination can fill up the holes of the darkness.

Bar: I like how the bar wraps around the entire bar/bartenders so that you can play eyes-ies with the hot guys or girls (si tu veux) across the bar.  Oh yeah, and the bartenders are mmMMhot too! My favorite is the dark brown haired guy. I think i gave him a tip just for being dark and handsome.

Seating: Other yelp reviewers were right about the green sofas.  You literally melt into the sofas.. which makes me wonder how clean they are but whatevers. We aren't giving stars for hygiene are we?

Music: the jukebox is awesome!! I actually prefer the old school/class/alternative music to the house-electro music that all clubs are playing now.

Overview:  Pros are the vibe, the music, the decor, cute manly bartenders, and the nice people that are there.

Cons are the poor lighting (darkness) and the somewhat dilapidated sofas that can hide families in the cushion holes. Oh yeah.  Also, don't stand outside the area for too long after it closes cuz bums start coming out and lying closer to you for warmth/comfort.

    This bar is super chill.

There's a juke box in the corner.
    Drinks aren't too expensive.
The lights are low so everyone looks good after one drink.
The super soft pillowy couches are perfect for curling up in.
Tends to not get crazy crowded that often.

4100 was the last stop two nights in a row of living it up in LA, which can taken as a good sign or a bad sign.

The good is that it was within walking distance of where I was staying in Silver Lake. The place is really dark, but has a cool vibe that you don't expect from the outside. It's super popular, and the first night at around 1am it was packed something fierce. It seems to be the "place to be seen" right now, so there's that too.

The bad is that it's really loud and the music is much to blame. You can tell when one song ends, before another one begins. There is about 5 seconds where you can actually hear yourself think and have a 5 second conversation with your drinking buddy. But then it picks up again and you're back to yelling.

It's a cool place, but not the best in my opinion. However, I'm not from LA so perhaps that's why.

It seems they just keep dimming the lights here as the years pass.  Is it because we're all getting older and don't really want to admit it? ;-)

This place is just as fun as it was nearly 10 years ago when I first stumbled out.  Back then, it was really more of a local's secret.

You have to be somewhat of a regular to get bartender love, or just "buy" their attention with fat ass tips (as in, $5 tip on a $7 drink).  See others' reviews for more on that.

When you can see the decor, it's pretty sweet -  red fabrics, dark wood, cozy seating (sometimes you won't find any though).

Parking generally isn't too bad if you're able to walk a block or two.

And yes, it is currently uber hipster - they check for skinny jeans at the door.

    A few things:

-This is a late night bar, so my friend and I are one hair of pride away from wearing our fuzzy slippers in at 11pm. Don't think we're too good to talk about how it's past our bedtime while we're at the bar stools nodding off into our Manhattans.

-This is Silverlake, not Costa Rica. That's what I have to tell myself every time I make stinky eyes at a boy for catching glances with me for an hour and not budging from his bar stool across the way. The pride floweth over.

-The drinks are great. I don't need to try to be funny on this bullet. They are just really solid. Done.

-As of today I officially live walking distance from this bar. I will be wearing my fuzzy slippers.

Amazing atmosphere, but a little rough if you actually want to be heard and still have a voice by the end of the night.  Awesome soundtrack, but too loud!  I feel like a grandma saying that, but honestly...
Also, the two gents behind the bar tonight unbelievably rude, condescending, and patronizing.  I know it's a bar, and super hip and and "LA" but it's still a service industry.  Be nice to your customers.

Also,  their bookkeeping needs to leave the stone age, and join us here in the 21st century. It's not that hard to split a tab.

    Dark, cozy, romantic, chill.

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. The name of the bar itself made it seem like it would be just another random loud dive bar, but it was actually more of a loungey feel. There's a section towards the back with lots of connected seating perfect for a large group of friends. Great place to talk and hang out for hours. This place is as quiet or as loud as the you wanna make it. We came on a Thursday night and there weren't too many people. It was juuuust right. :) I would love to come back!

How do you feel about Geni bottles?

4100 feels like a Geni bottle (I would know, I've been in plenty). Curtains, candles, dark lighting, red and pink undertones, Captain Tony Nelson. Well, a lot of shadowy dudes that could possibly be Captain Tony Nelson.

It's very dark, pretty laid-back, and not too loud. The music is pretty eclectic. I never see anyone at the jukebox, so unless it's playing randomly I'm not sure how to account for the runaways, biggie, and elvis playing one right after the other.

I'm no hipsterologist, but the word is this place is hipster. In the words of a dear friend, "It's so hipster it makes my hips hurt." I've been here a handful of times and never felt it was as hipster as a lot of these reviews say. It seems to be a word people use to insult something. Maybe I don't know what hipster is. Hipster.

    Summation: Cozy, eclectic, hip hurting.

First off, the juke box is bullshit, at least on weekends. You can put money in it all day, and it will never play. The songs being played arent even on the juke box, maybe they should turn the fuckin thing off on days where its not being used.

That said, I like the place. Its got a laid back loungy vibe, no TV's and therefore no jocky deaushbags screaming at them. Dimly lit, decent prices for beer, liquor gets pricey.

Also the blonde bartender yelled at me because she has the communication of a retarded infant. Aside from a person not paying, or being rude, there is zero reason for a bartender to cop an attitude. It felt like my mom was reaming me out for that one time I almost accidentally shot the neighbor.

This place is my jam.  Whenever I just want to go out and have a dink at a cool place, this is where I go.

The bartenders are nice. They remember your name and what you're drinking (I know, you read that and you're like, "duh, they're bartenders.  That's what they do" but you'd be surprised...).

Prices are decent.  OOh and they have ginger beer, which i like to mix with bourbon.  It's not the same as ginger ale, which isn't the same as mixing coke and sprite, like a lot of bars do (come on, jerks, you think that as much as I drink, I can't tell the difference? please.)

The way the place looks is my favorite part.  It's like there was an earthquake at the Casbah, and instead of cleaning up the rubble they just added drapes.  And alcohol.

The people aren't too friendly, though. I am the kind of person to talk to strangers at a bar and make new friends, but the clientele here don't seem too keen on that.  That's more of a hipster thing tho, not really the bar's fault.  Speaking of hipsters, they're good for one thing: music.  The juke box at this place is on FIRE.

So check this place out sometime!  And be nice to me when you're here! Asshole!

Had a couple drinks here on a Saturday night and it was alright. My drinks were strong and not too expensive. The booths are comfortable to sit and have a conversation but it is really dark in there. Despite living only a couple blocks away, I can't really see myself going back there.

I actually really kind of like this bar. We had gotten here early, about 9p, it was very chill and relaxed. Not too many people, the music wasn't too loud, the bartender was cool. It was just really laid back. It has tapestry hanging everywhere, you definitely feel like a genie in a bottle. Later at night it gets more packed and it's hard to find a place to sit, but if you do, you're pretty much set for the night.

This place is my sexy little cave.

Low ceilings, low lighting, heavy velveteen curtains and tiny glow lanterns with back to back bars...what's not to love?

They have Blue Moon on draft for $5 and they give you fresh orange slices to go with your beer which is the way it is supposed to be with this beer.

Of course the jukebox is a-ma-zing.  I am in love with LA just for the amount of great music on their jukeboxes.  They played one of my all time favorite songs, The Velvet Underground's "Oh Sweet Nothin" which is a less common song and which made me so incredibly happy.

The location is between Silver Lake and Los Feliz so a very hip area.  Parking as usual is limited but hey, they do have a small parking lot.  Lots of cute guys.  This will be my new hangout spot close to home.
