So really, I don't know much about 4001 Duval as a salon.  I've only been there once, and I was enchanted by the old, imprinted ceiling, the antique barber's chairs, and the generally good feeling.  

This place gets five stars, because it's the new home of April Welch, who started off at Capelli.  She's wonderful!  And her new salon doesn't make her wear heels, which I'm all for.  

She's still super talented and very respectful of what you're looking for.  But, she's also creative and has a good eye.  She knows what will work on you.  Try her out!

This comfy Hyde Park salon is friendly enough but just dang ol' expensive for an uncomplicated men's haircut.  I understand that I am taking a valuable time slot of a well-trained professional.  I also see that it is always empty when I stop by for a puck of product or haircut.  Probably a good place to know about if you use Aveda stuff or need a haircut, STAT.

Aveda:  love the products, hate the salon management procedures.  Love the training salons; hate the random price bumps as your stylist is elevated to yet another level in the hierarchy.
