Im rating this solely on a chocolate milkshake so you might want to read a few more reviews before you go.
I LOVE THEIR CHOCOLATE SHAKE. -

This Diner offers a large selection. and I mean, ALOT. Everything from breakfast to sandwiches, steak and fish, a full bar. This place has it all! I went there with a large group and not a single person offered a complaint. They serve hearty portions, the service was prompt and courteous and the food was good. It's exactly what you'd expect at a diner.
They serve 24/7 including breakfast all day, which obviously I loved!!! -

Typical diner, nothing spectacular at all. Came here after a night in the city and ordered a bunch of appetizers. Nothing stood out but nothing was horrible either.
Sadly the waitress must have been lonely b/c she didn't know when to walk away and just kept hanging around our table talking. Please let us dine in peace.thanks. -

Not bad for a diner, not great though either. It's very pricey, but the service is very good. I go here a few times a month with friends so I've tried a bunch of entree's. I'd stick with the traditional diner foods and stay away from the more 'fancy' or 'intricate' orders as you can't forget that in the end this is still just a diner...

Despite the renovation this diner still has that chain feel to it. It's very large and roomy but the warm, homey feel was not there.
Coffee was not good. Breakfast dishes were just okay. More expensive than the other diners in the area but portions were very large. Our server was very good and checked up on us many times.
There's never a wait so it's good to have around for that quick bite. But I won't be rushing back. -

My neighborhood diner, love everyone here. Mrs. R is the best!

Food-wise, it was fine: a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich, with extra crispy french fries and a side of honey mustard sauce. Its my stand-by diner order, and this one was not bad.
Unfortunately our service left much to be desired...they weren't that busy, but our waitress would disappear for long stretches of time. She didn't write down the order for our table of 6, and ended getting some of the orders wrong because of it. Took a long time for her to bring our drinks, then again to refill them. Glad this isn't my neighborhood place. -

Went for lunch with my dad while visiting for the holidays. The place was pretty busy. I got the classic burger, medium rare. Dad got the fillet mignon, well done. Food was delicious. The waitress working that shift was very friendly and attentive. All round good American diner.

My boss has picked this place to have a drink and a bite. It turned out OK.
I have ordered the Everything Crusted Tuna which is supposed seared and rare. It was slightly over cooked so the outside of the tuna was dry. They used the black and white sesame as the crust which is really good. It took the waitress a while to find the soy sauce which is weird since they do have the wasabi and ginger on the plate with tuna.
My friend ordered the BBQ ribs which is tender and tasty. I guess I should not expect much asian food turn out great in a diner place.
Will try something else in Englewood area. -
Review from Holly C.
One of the better diners I have been to. They have typical diner food but also offer other tasty-sounding entrees. Service has always been good, and I haven't had a bad thing yet (gyros, veggie wrap). If I'm in the mood for American food & want to go to a diner - this places almost always comes to mind. Oh and price is good for the quality & amount of food.

I cant remember the quality of the food here because i was highly inebriated, and everything was devoured so quickly. Id say its a pretty good late night dinner. I think they stop serving alcohol at 3. And they have an outside bar which was surprisingly loud and crowded.

It's open all night, right off the highway, can't beat that in Englewood. It's the after hour spot. LOL! I like their salads, desserts, pina colada cake, cheesecakes not all it depends on what you like. They serve their purpose. LOL!

I really like this place. Big fan of the big pancake breakfast - pcakes, eggs, and usually ham (but sometimes bacon or sausage). Only dissapointment ever was the filet mignon sliders, which were over-thought with fried onions and a sauce that didn't really work. Serves me right, I shoulda got the regular sliders - WITH CHEESE! Regular burgers and soups are good too.
Outdoor seating area is nice, no view (outside of Route 4), but comfortable chairs and they have a lot of sweet icy drinks when you want to feel pretty (what?!).
Good, reliable and local - all you could want from a diner. -

please make sure you check the bill!!! they sneak in an 18% gratuity at the bottom of the check as a service charge or something. i swear i've paid them 20% on top of the 18% and these scumbags probably get all giddy when that happens. funny how next time i went, the gratuity was not included. either they person is doing something illegal or they removed gratuity from the bill. sorry it's all caps but this is important.
Update 1/13/12.
I kept the 3 star rating instead of 2 because it's open all night and like I said, haven't seen the gratuity on my recent visit.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Great diner. I came here for after-wedding drinks one night followed by breakfast the next morning. There's lots of space, I doubt you will ever have to wait too long for your meal here. Everything tasted diner-ific, if you know what I mean. No surprises, standard diner fare.
I can't say much about prices for dinner or lunch, but for breakfast I got my two eggs over easy with turkey sausage and whole wheat toast for $5.50. Coming from NYC, that most definitely ain't half bad.
Service is very very friendly and has that nice local feel. For our semi-crazy after-wedding breakfast, I thought our servers did an outstanding job. -

Big fan of the outdoor seating area. Not a brunch place per se but I enjoyed my morning screwdrivers and breakfast. Granted, outdoor seating gives you a front row to route 4 but still...perfect Saturday morning cure for a Friday hangover.

We were up here at the Crowne Plaza in Englewood NJ and wanted to find a good place to eat that would not break the bank. The 4 West Diner here just off of Rt 4 and Burnt Street was exactly what we needed. This brand new location features a lovely interior that is warm and inviting.
The food was very good. The baked salmon was very tasty and moist. I had a BLT on rye with sweet potato fries where crispy and hit the spot. We also had a gyro a classic Greek creation.
The service warranted a 20% tip. The appetizers were just a tad undercooked (Mozzarella sticks and coconut shrimp) but that was not an issue.
This gem fits in well with Jersey's diner culture and if you get a chance stop in and have some great food. -

This is my personal experience with the place so please take this review with a grain of salt.
Came to this diner with couple of friends wanting some lunch near by. This diner was a bennigans years back and still has the same bennigans feel more than a diner.
The food prices seem steep compared to surrounding diners near by. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger deluxe. Got my burger well done when I asked for medium and the bacons were quite old from the feel of it. The French fries were above average here as a previous reviewer has said.
Overall, paying $14 ($10+ tax and tip) for a cheese burger deluxe is a little bit steep and I feel that you're not getting the meal for the price. -

When with the wife for dinner....4 West is a former bennigans.. put some shiny metal on the outside and called it a diner.... Inside is well decorated and nice. The food was nothing to write home about. The open face brasied brisket sand. I wil give them this their portions are HUGE.. the $13 Sand consisted of a ton of fatty brisket sitting on a bed on wonder bread.. baked potato was dry as a bone and only had sour cream on it..chives butter??? c'mon people..
Wife had the veggie burger that looked homemade and had edamme she said it was good but there was no mayo or sauce so it was dry. The frys were above average
Our server was pretty good she didnt speak much english tho.. -

They include an 18% gratuity. Even for just 2 appetizers (disco fries and a veggie quesadilla) at 3 AM. You've got to be freakin kidding...
The coffee was watered down and crappy. The quesadilla was good, but the guac was clearly processed and out of a jar. The disco fries were disgusting and barely had any cheese. The gravy was lumpy and congealed, like it had been sitting around all day.. Jordan said it was like mucus. We were ravenous so we ate most of them anyway and the waitress, who barely spoke English seemed to be able to tell we were dissatisfied so she asked what was wrong. My boyfriend explained that the fries were awful. She said she would go tell the manager. The waitress came back mumbling something about "next time" but we couldn't understand what she was saying.
The most aggravating thing about the whole situation was the 18% gratuity... most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. -

The food here is barely satisfactory. I ordered the Texas Burger (bacon cheese burger with BBQ sauce) because I figured there's not too much harm that can be done to a hamburger. Sure enough, the hamburger was OK, but just OK.
A friend ordered Nachos and they didn't look very good to me. The guacamole was from a can as were the jalapenos. The ground beef looked dried out.
Their desserts look good but I didn't try any.
You can see from the other reviews that people either love or hate this place. My opinion is this shows a big turnover in staff, which isn't a good sign.
My words of advice: Approach with caution! -

Started with a French Onion Soup...cause I have to try it everywhere I go if it's on the menu...OUTSTANDING!!!!!
My kids had the pancakes...said they're better than IHOP.
Best BLT on Rye in all of Jersey...they give you layers of perfectly crispy bacon and ripest tomatoes!!!
And their fries are done perfect..nice and crispy!!!
Then for dessert I had something called a Pina Colada Cake...I devoured it!
Been going to Coach House for years but not anymore...this is right up the road and it's cleaner and better food!!!
The only reason I couldn't give it the 5th star is the service is lacking...but all in all...great place!!! -

The hash browns are sad. Lacking flavor. Just kinda lame. The service was not genuine. I don't like that.

This is not your regular diner on the inside from a decor standpoint. Maybe because it was a Bennigan's before. But a good clean diner with a bar is always a plus. I had the Burger (Texas Style), though the bbq sauce was awful and spoiled the taste of the burger. The fries could have been a bit more crisp. The service was exceptional. if you are in the area and need a late night snack do go there.

the ladies in the front are shady. stop eyeballin' me. i got a job, i can pay.
the booths are roomy and well laid out. that might be weird to you, but being very petite, i have issues with seating being too low and tables being too far/high, what have you. and i was with a very pregnant cousin who has trouble maneuvering in and out of these kinds of situations, so we definitely noticed. any how, the menu has an odd mixture of "fine" cuisine and traditional diner faves and yet, it still seems to be farely thin... not having everything you would expect to see or want. being a life long resident of nj (a diner haven), it was odd to have so much difficulty deciding what to order. we had to clarify with our waitress what was actually available. me: a turkey club, her: a chicken salad wrap. is that so hard? food was as expected, albeit overpriced for diner digs, but it's bergen county. heh -

Terrible food and even worst service. Went there for dinner and not only did it take a very long time for the food to arrive, but the order was wrong

Pretty shabby service if you ask me...
I order a cheeseburger deluxe well done for pickup. The manager told me 10 minutes, so I get to the diner in 15 min thinking my order would be ready. I go up to the register and ask for my order, the manager looking perplexed but tells me 2 minutes. He then proceeds to place the order to a waiter right in front of me. I then ask him straight up, did you just place the order? He lies and says no, it'll be ready in 2 minutes. So 20 mins later i get my burger. If this was the extent of it, i wouldn't have minded... but it get's worse. I get home to find my burger is completely rare except for a thin sear on the outside, almost tartar style--completely inedible.
So in a nutshell the dbag manager forgot to place the order, lied about it and sent me off with an inedible burger. The place had maybe 3-4 tables and was pretty empty. Talk about dumb and lazy... -

A little higher then the average diner, a large amount of food on the specials of the day, great deserts and can be good service. Only giving it 3 stars because the service can be hit or miss. Dessert selection is great

I was shocked by the attitude of the owner regarding WiFi. This is probably the newest and most modern diner in the area. But no Wi-Fi. When I politely asked the owner about this after my meal, showing him my laptop that I couldn't use to check up on work, he was very honest: "We evaluated this carefully. Our sole objective here is a quick turnover so our waitresses can do well. If you want to use your computer, stay home. Here, we serve fast and get you out." Nice? This, after my omelette came out overdone when I had requested soft, by the way. Oh, and it's a large diner and that day, at lunch hour, there was maybe 10% of tables filled. And, except for breakfast, the prices are way out of line compared to other diners in the area. And by the way, I'm writing this from the Plaza Diner in Englewood Cliffs which, like every other restaurant in the area I have visited, does have WiFi (and good food). I gave this two stasr for cleanliness, modernity, and good service.
