I have already submitted a review (see below), but J is so fantastic that I wanted to add something. One month after the inspection we moved into our new home. There was a small leak in the sink. I certainly did not hold J responsible, but he felt that it was something that was probably there when he inspected it and should have seen. Therefore, he came by our house the same day I contacted him and fixed it!!! Amazing, kind, genuine service. I'd recommend him to anyone.
(We couldn't have been happier with 4 Seasons Home Inspections. Jay is awesome! We were on a tight schedule and called him on Monday, scheduled an inspection for Wednesday, and had the completed report one hour after the inspection was completed. He was so thorough. Our realtor said inspections generally last 1 hour. Jay's inspection lasted 2.5 hours and was the lowest cost. He went through EVERYTHING with us! I know more about this place than I even wanted to! I couldn't rave about him more. He is kind, professional, personal, thorough, and fair.)1 Previous Review: Show all »

Jay was great. He did a home inspection for us for a house we were looking at buying. He was extremely thorough and let me tag along as he described all the things he found about the house, both bad and good. At the end, I had a list of minor maintenance issues for me to tackle once we close on the house and a couple of major issues that we were able to ask the sellers to help us out with. Jay's experience showed through when he found that the stairway addition to the house didn't have a solid foundation. He even mailed me a dvd of all the pictures he took when I asked him for it (I wanted to take a look at the roof without having to climb up there.) Great inspector. I'd recommend him to anyone.
Oh also, as an added bonus, he had recommendations for contractors, electricians, architects, etc. and they were all top notch professionals. -

Jay was awesome. We spent hours walking in and around the house, learning about every little issue he could find - what was serious, what wasn't, what needed attention, what didn't, and explaining the whys behind everything he mentioned. He even gave me approximate costs for each fix which helped me make a list of stuff I'll need to work on and in what order. Totally worth it.

We used Jay for our home purchase and couldn't have been more pleased. My husband works in construction and can be a bit persnickety on anything relating to house "stuff." He thought Jay was very detailed in his reporting, prompt, and had great customer service skills. I appreciated that Jay sent the report for our inspection hours later-no waiting. Jay is great and would use him again (DEAR GOD, I hope we don't move again any time soon.)!

I used 4 seasons home inspection for property that I have owned for 20 years. There was alot of deferred maintenance, and I needed to know where to start with the work. Jay went through the home and gave me a VERY thorough list of items that were safety issues, and other items that just needed some TLC. He was professional, on time, and gave me a great report that I can refer back to. I would highly recommend Jay and 4 Seasons Home Inspections if you want the job done right. He has a background in building and construction that was invaluable during my inspection. Call Jay and get it done right!

J has the background that all inspectors should have. He knows how buildings are built (he was a job supervisor for a long time). When he gets there - he spends a lot of time. Expect a thorough report!

J was on time and courteous. He took the time to explain all my questions and had no trouble with my constant queries. I was actually quite happy with his tips and suggestions and if I had written this review a day after we did the inspection, I would have probably given him 5 stars.
Unfortunately he did miss a few things. One of our heater vents does not turn on. The winterization strips on a bunch of door are old and coming off. None of these are major problems.
Update (11/10/2011): After J found out about my problems, he sent me a very courteous message about taking a look and even offered to pay for the repairs.
Everyone misses something. Its impossible to catch all problems in 100s of homes that you would inspect. But the fact that he is coming back this weekend shows that he is professional, courteous and really cares about his customers.
Run away from all the big corporate inspectors with all their fancy whiz-bang gadgetry, and give J a call. -

Just had a home I'm purchasing inspected by J, and I am so glad I did! He showed up on time ( a bit early even), was very friendly, and very thorough. He explained everything in a way that was easy for me to understand, and got the report to me same day. I highly recommend him, and his pricing is very reasonable so there is no excuse not to get the extra peace of mind that comes along with getting an independent inspection before you buy.

Jay Szczesny is great! I am so impressed by his knowledge and thoroughness. Talking to him makes me realize that not all Home Inspectors are equal! If you're looking for a great home inspector then I would not look any further than Jay.

If you need your home inspected, call J! His work is extremely detailed and he invites you to walk through the inspection with him. He points out areas of the home that are in good condition, but more importantly, he finds the areas that need your attention. His detailed inspection report, emailed to you within hours of your inspection is excellent and very thorough. J has experience in mold as well - you will not be disappointed - call 4 Seasons for a great home inspection.

J. Szczesney at 4 seasons is what a home inspector should be. Last Sunday he inspected the home I have under contract. He arrived a few minutes early ready to go. He is very knowledgeable, and very thorough and painstaking. He talked to me as he went, giving me some color and background about the importance of his findings. And I had his report, with pictures and summary of findings/action points early that evening!
I strongly recommend this highly professional inspector.

Jay did a fantastic job for us. He was available on late notice. He was professional and thorough. He has a strong background in home construction so he brought a broad overall perspective to the inspection. My husband (AJ) has an engineering background and walked through the entire inspection with Jay to learn about the house and get Jay's reaction to potential issues. AJ as a home owner for 25 years who has been through a few remodels and fixers was impressed by Jays' attention to detail and overall knowledge. We chose wisely by going with Jay.

J was great! He came out on very short notice DURING the great snowpocalypse of 2012. We're first time home buyers and really not versed in DIY home improvements. J encouraged us to stay with him throughout the whole inspection. Each time he found something good or bad, he carefully explained what it was and what it would mean for us down the line. He put things in perspective and was very, very patient. He took a full 3.5 hours to carefully look at the house with us trailing along afterward. His report can be accessed remotely from his website with an access code and is a PDF with pictures and easy to navigate sections. I would highly recommend J to anyone needing an inspector. He has a calm, measured approach and just seems extremely trustworthy from the get go. Cracks jokes too- no extra charge.

J at 4 Seasons Home Inspections is on top of his game. I've experienced two home inspections with him and am impressed. Loads of knowledge and an enthusiasm for seeking out and exposing problems and dangers for home buyers, home sellers, and home owners. He also has a construction background and is a licensed general contractor, so he knows well what's inside the walls, and how things should be properly put together. On top of that, he has been on site early, waiting for the buyer and agent each time. Truly excellent.

J is a wonderful Inspector. We are a first time home buyer and we knew we needed to get an inspection done since it is an older house. For sure the reviews on Yelp were accurate to their appraisal of J. He was helpful and a wonderful person to work with. He helped us understand a lot of things about the home that was a foreign concept to us. He also recommended us to other contractors to help us fix our soon to be new home as well. We were looking all over to find a home inspector at a reasonable price. I highly recommend J. if you are looking for an inspection and good luck if you're planning to purchase a home!

I have known Jay for 4 years now. He is a professional in every sense of the word. His previous work as a construction supervisor prepared him to become and inspector. I met Jay though a business owners association and have learned a lot about the field of home inspection. Besides the standard purchase inspection there is a form of home inspection call prelisting inspection. This is an opportunity for a home seller to learn about "what maybe wrong with the house prior to listing. This is important because there may be some imperfections that would be relatively inexpensive to fix that can help a seller make more money or possibly sell faster in the Real Estate environment. As a former military member he likes to thank active and retired military members for their service by offering a discount for his inspections. Jay is my inspector and hopefully after reading this review he is your inspector as well.

I highly recommend J Szczesney, not only is he a very knowledgeable home inspector, he is also a licensed pest inspector so he can look for an point out potential problems in a home that not all home inspectors can. He's very professional, thorough and detail oriented as well as passionate about his work.
