I was surprise when I first walked in.  Outside look dead but when I walked in the door the place was packed.  It had a 10 min. wait so I went to the bar and got a seat right away.

I ordered the Ruben and I was very impressed.  A few restaurant before I was disappointed because you had to search for meat.  This place was loaded with meat.  I will be coming back next time I am in the area.

Pretty cozy bar/restaurant place downtown Medford.  Full bars upstairs and downstairs.  Lots of leather sofas with coffee tables for big groups to be comfortable to gather.  Lots of pool tables.  What keeps me from giving this place 4 stars is the food.  The food is not that great dining in or take out.  The only thing that I have had so far on the menu that is decent are their Alaskan Halibut Fish-N-Chips.  One time we arrived at 9:50 pm and wanted to order off the dinner menu and we were told that the dinner menu closes at 10:00pm and we were forced to order off the bar menu even though we still had 10 minutes to order from the dinner menu.  We looked around and saw other people who had been seated just minutes before us order off the dinner menu.  When we pointed this out to the waitress that we still had 10 minutes and that we noticed other people ordering from the dinnner menu we were told "they got there a few minutes before us".

Besides the food, the atmosphere is pretty good and it is a good place to hang out any night of the week.

This is a very nice Irish pub.  Two stories, with bars up and down, plenty of tables, leather couches, TV's, and billiards.  The decor is pretty dark, with antiques and other pub decor fitting for the place. The selection of beers is outstanding, and since I am an IPA fan, I've never been disappointed.  This is a pub and they serve pub food, which means pretty simple fare.  Have been here fairly often and have had everything from burgers, bangers and mash, halibut fish and chips, etc. and it's all been good.  Particularly like the three choice of chips!  We've taken visitors here for a casual meal and all have enjoyed it, particularly the great atmosphere.

Definitely a very rustic and laid back environment offering strong Irish drinks and plush seating. You have to go multiple times so you can try all the imported tanned drinks.

Here's the deal: this is a great drinking establishment. Beautiful interior with exposed beam ceiling and brick walls, gorgeous woodwork, spacious, tons of seating options, good beer selection. The food? Not so much.

I had the Cajun Turkey-- twas neither spicy nor memorable. Completely generic topped with a Costco bun. The sweet potato fries were not great; they are battered in something? However, the marionberry jam and ranch dipping sauces were great and masked the weirdness of the fries.

I have enjoyed the deep fried pickles here before- how do you go wrong deep frying anything really? That being said, the deep fried cheesecake here is just ok... somehow the cheesecake loses its flavor in the deep fry batter, but it's still definitely edible. The ice cream was delicious though, not that they made it here. Just sayin'.

Overall, don't eat here, just drink and enjoy the atmosphere. It IS a lovely bar.

Great place. Atmosphere is awesome. Perfect for lunch, or drinks after work. They put on new beers every Thursday, and get some very good stuff. Weekends they have karaoke and always have a pretty good turnout. All the bartenders and waitresses are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

This place is AWESOME!!! I can't speak highly enough of the place. The building and atmosphere is definitely the coolest thing about it; it's close to a hundred years old and used to be an old theater, old hotel, and a few other places I'm sure, making it have a really neat feel, with the hardwood flours and brick walls. They have traditional restaurant seating downstairs, but head upstairs for the best experience. They have a casual dining seating with a bunch of comfy couches and armchairs around little tables, making it perfect for kicking back and enjoying a pint of Guiness and some great food.

The food does not disappoint either. At the waiter's suggestion, my boyfriend got the lobster macaroni and cheese, which was a delightful taste experience. I got the Guiness bacon cheese burger. As someone who frequently dines on burgers, the delicious bbq sauce and thick cut bacon made it stand out from it's competitors.

Everyone should go there. Everyone. They also have really good drink specials after 9pm on weekdays and 10pm on weekends.

    Go there now.

This review is for take-out. Three stars just because the food was a bit chilly, but that was only due to travel time, I'm sure.

I had the cajun turkey burger with their garlic fries. Yummy! The burger was a little spicier than I had expected. Their ranch was delicious!

I can't wait to eat (and drink) at the actual establishment.

Just had their hamburger. Ordered with cheddar cheese, came with no cheese.
Was cooked so much the outside rim was crunchy. Was told it came with soup or salad. Got the bill and there was an extra charge for soup! We went to eat lunch their at 2:00 and no one was there. Why so many screw ups and a bad hamburger! They claim good hamburgers, but go to Red Robin where you always get a good burger!

I've been in a few times and the experience is dependent upon who is working. Most of the staff are fun and chatty. There are a few that aren't as pleasant as they could be.

I had the 4 Daughters burger and it was okay. It was very overcooked but the meat seasoning was delicious. The side salad was pretty tasty.

I'll definitely go back. But maybe I'll order something different next time.

I've found this place is either amazing, or mediocre.
They get great specialty beers on tap, and they have a pretty good menu. Their house beers are all pretty bad, and if it's busy expect a really long wait, and sloppy food.

I can't speak for the bar, as I don't drink. But as far as 4D's kitchen, it is definitely worth the visit. They have a large variety of both traditional Irish dishes as well as all the usual pub fare.

Their hostesses are some of the friendliest I've encountered in Medford. Then again, if you're not working at Red Robin or Applebee's, I guess you probably would be generally pretty pleased with life.

My personal favorite -- the fried chicken dinner. If you're a fan of the fried chicken dinner at Portland's Screen Door Cafe, you'll enjoy the same at 4D's. If you're only coming for the food, make sure you call ahead to check when the kitchen stops serving their full menu.

There aren't too many places in Medford worth the mention, but 4D's is definitely above the cut. Don't miss out when you travel through.

We flew to Oregon to see my boyfriend's parents and they took us here for lunch. I had no idea what we were in for, but when we arrived I was pleasantly surprised. What a gem!

The inside is GORGEOUS. I felt like we stepped onto the set of Sweeney Todd. It was two stories, brick walls, fire places, old photos, remarkable architecture, antique looking furniture, dark lit and moody. My favorite part was the billiards room. It sort of reminded me of a speakeasy. If I remember correctly, I was told that the building used to be an old firehouse once upon a time, so maybe someone has some cool ghost stories to share? ;)

The service was OK, then again I was only there once so I'm not making any judgments yet; might have been a fluke. The food was delish (sweet potato fries, mmmmmm) and the beer was perfect. Like, perfect for an overcast day perfect. The whole ambiance made the entire experience for me, personally.

I would suggest anyone going up to southern Oregon to check this place out at least once. I'll definitely check it out again this winter when we're visiting for Christmas.

This place was a true find in Medford. Before my trip, I asked a local for some suggestions of fun places to visit in Medford and Ashland and this Irish pub became one of the highlights of our trip. I chuckled beforehand because one reviewer wrote that this is "hands-down the best pub in Medford." And I thought, really, how many can there be?

We arrived during the annual Pear Blossom Parade in downtown Medford, so it was a bit of a challenge getting in the door. But once we were inside, I couldn't believe my eyes.  The place is absolutely huge with a full bar, both upstairs and down, as well as a back room with pool tables.  My friend also recommended that I go upstairs and I'm so glad that I did.  At the front of the building, they have serveral conversation areas with comfy couches by fireplaces and it would be an ideal spot to hang with friends and chat over a pint.

Both floors have a nice mix of small and large tables and it is one of those magic places that would be equally great for families or a big group of friends. Our server was fun and I ended up choosing the Oregon Salad and an order of the garlic-parsley fries. Prices were reasonable, food was good and the atmosphere was fantastic.

Getting to downtown is a bit out of the way if you are cruising down I-5, but it will be hard not to stop by Four Daughters every time I'm in the area.

I decide to check out 4 Daughters Irish Pub based on a great recommendation from my client. Didn't really know what to expect, since this is my first time in the area, let alone the state. The downtown area is practically a grid, so it's very easy to get around.

I parked on the street with no problem, lots of people out biking and roller skating. To me, a pub has to have a nice, dark, dungeon-like feeling and 4 Daughters delivers on that. What actually struck me was how well they decorated for Halloween. Even my tall, sassy waitress was sporting devils ears and that fit the atmosphere wonderfully.

I just grabbed a bar table, since it had a perfect view of one of their many flat-screen TV's(had to get my MNF fix). I had the locally made IPA and ordered their Lobster and Shrimp Mac & Cheese. Yes....you read that right. Let me tell you that this was absolutely delicious. I never would have thought about combining Macaroni & Cheese with ANY sort of crustacean. 4 Daughters made it happen impressively.

Too bad I won't be here Halloween night because they seem to be gearing up for a serious party. There weren't many people in the bar that night, which isn't a bad thing. I got to trade witty comments with the tall, sassy waitress.

Looking forward to making a return visit.

The atmosphere is nice in this large bar /  restaurant covering two floors of a very old brick building. There are traditional tables, bar tables, and many couch/chair seating areas not unlike a typical living room. Service is good. I've eaten here three times and the food is good, but falls short of great. Still, it's probably one of the few places in town where you can order corned beef and cabbage when the urge strikes.

Good fresh draft beer. Veggie friendly. Service was excellent, friendly & the food was tasty. Portebella burger with garlic fries.
From the outside you expect a hole in the wall, but the place is huge and gorgeous. You seat yourself. The server was friendly. My burger & fries were served very hot. My fries actually had fresh chopped garlic topping them. I love garlic!!! Perfectly paired with the seasonal Hoptober New Belgium off the tap. YUM

3 stars for what used to be at least a 4 star restaurant/pub.  Originally when I was at the Four Daughters last spring/summer, their food was excellent and I went back quite often.  I do not know what has happened of late though, the wait for food is quite long and the quality has went downhill.  The fish and chips seem to be over battered now and not cooked long enough, where the batter is still raw inside.  We figured that maybe it was just an off night and returned another time to try it again, and it was still just as bad.

However, the bands that play are pretty good.  (Though we did stumble across one that was not good.)  Great place for stretching out upstairs and just hanging with the pals. Upstairs also has video camera relay so you can watch the dancefloor downstairs on television.  That is pretty entertaining sometimes.

All in all, if you eat first it's a fun place but sadly we don't plan on this place for dinner anymore.  I'm hoping they turn it arouns a little though and we'd be back.

This is an Irish pub, and yes, they have Guinness on tap, but also some good American beers.  One of them is the tasty porter produced by the Southern Oregon Brewing Company.

On Wednesday evenings there is live Irish music - a high-quality group of versatile musicians play from seven on toward ten p.m.

The menu features snacks, sandwiches and burgers, and in the evening some traditional Irish plates, as well as some not-so-traditional.  It's actually a pretty large and diverse selection for a pub.  Same goes for their alcohol.

The food is a 2 but the ambiance and decor is a 5, so my overall score is a 3.  The extensive menu of traditional Irish fare is enticing, but everything failed to deliver. We ordered the corn beef and cabbage, bangers and mash, salads, soups and some fries for appetizers. While the food came out hot, the garlic mashed was old, cabbage tough, fries were processed and they did not fit in with the traditional food (fresh cut would have been better), and the cream soup was very thin.

For a Saturday night this place was slow, but the service was good and the environment was enjoyable. Bellying up to the bar, drinking beer and eating some greasy appetizers while listening to a live band would be the draw  for this restaurant.

First pint: IPA from Scotland. Robust, but not overpowering hops, good malt flavor. Very enjoyable before-meal

    Menu:
They have a great variety of traditional Irish dishes, and some fun NW cuisine. I ordered the Lobster and Shrimp Mac and Cheese.

Starter salad  - basic. Not anything to write home about.

Tonight ( Monday ) is trivia night. Dinner and a show!

    Mac & Cheese -
Creamy, rich almost a cheese fondue!
Filling, yes! Rich, you bet! decent flavor ( I'm a cheese lover )

Dessert: A pint of draught Guiness. perfect!

I give it 3 stars - only because if it were in Portland, thats what it'd get... Here in Medford, it probably IS a 4 star brew pub!

The 4 Daughters is one of the coolest restaurants in the Valley. The atmosphere is completely unique, the service is great, and the food is like nothing else. I would definitely recommend the fish and chips -- best I've ever had outside of the real deal in England -- and the sweet potato fries, no matter what entree you order. All of the food is great, of course. I can't speak for the bar, but from what I've seen the selection is outstanding, and after hours they have good deals on certain drinks. I've participated in the trivia night, which is a ton of fun. Overall a terrific, authentic little pub.

As a pub, this place is top-notch. I lived in London for a time, and this reminds me of those wonderful lovely crazy days. It has cozy couches upstairs and the music usually isn't soloud that you can't hear the person across from you. When I go to a pub I go to have fun and socialize. This delivers. The atmosphere is bloody brilliant!
Now, the food USED to be dee-lish. But lately, after January(downturn of economy) the food has really gone downhill. The Guiness Meatloaf, which used to be the best around isn't the same. My standby meal was the Stuffed portobello mushrooms. I LOVE IT! LOVE IT! But, the mushrooms are all of the sudden half the size, and my potato portions are smaller.
Although I will say that their "traditional" pub food is still the best. Their chicken fingers, garlic fries and sweet potato fries are always great. And we usually get a plate of each for the table to share.
Despite the dinner entrees changing this is still the best bar in Medford. You avoid all the hick/ hoodrat/ wangster/ methhead/ obnoxious idiot demographic by going to this place. I like dressing up to go out, and at this place I can and not be harassed by drunken assholes.
This would get 5 stars if it weren't for the dinner going downhill.
If the off-street parking is all taken you can park in the bank parking lot around the corner(after hours)

A real authentic looking Irish Pub in Medford.  I had no idea how many amazing local businesses there were in downtown Medford until I started expanding my hotel biz there. This place is located in a historic building with two stories in dark wood and pub decor - the draft beer is great and the service very friendly. In fact, the manager Dustin used to be at Big River here in Corvallis.  I had the fried chicken sitting on top of a buttery bed of garlic mashed potatoes. yum.  The fish and chips were fresh and juicy and the french fries homemade and not greasy.  The only other  thing you could ask for is to meet the four daughters and a four-leaf clover....

Yet again I had a lackluster experience at this local restaurant. Me and my hubbie went to Four Daughters for New Years evening, a big deal because I, myself, am a chef and we generally eat at home. First let me start with the good, the building is absolutely stunning and the atmosphere relaxed. Our waitress was very prompt and charming, there are no complaints in that department. Our food came out very quickly, perhaps a bit too quickly, indicating more prepackaged items then one would prefer. Our Calamari was okay, though the cocktail sauce might be better replaced with a nice aioli, like when the restaurant first opened under the very talented Chef Jeff Swafford. Along with it came a small house salad of plain chopped romaine and a tangy berry dressing. Let the problems begin. My husband detests sweet dressing and when we inquired to the waitress why he had not been given a choice she replied that it was house policy to serve it with the house dressing. I find this very strange, and in my many years in the restaurant business, have never heard of such a policy. There was no offer to replace it. Our entrees arrived before we had even finished the appetizer. Now, I am not a picky eater, nor is my husband, but his potroast was literally so dry he said it "sucked the moisture from hi mouth. The potatoes were flavorless and obviously prepackaged. We simply had to return it for a trustworthy burger. My fish and chips was actually quite delectable, though a little bit more seasoning wouldn't do any harm. The burger arrived a good half hour later, killing any chance we had to dine together. The bun was soggy, the fries unseasoned, and again, a disappointment. Nothing was comped and the evening was a bust. Our dog thoroughly liked the leftovers at least. This is not the first bad experience we have had there, we keep coming back hoping for improvement, given the lovely building and the prime location, but alas, there has been none. Owner Micheal Sedonis might try to take a bit more pride in his restaurant and stop trying to cut corners on what could be a very pleasing dining experience.
