Very good place to catch a music performance.  The wait staff is some of the sweetest most helpful people.  The space affords you room to sit and not feel crowded, if you get there early and wait in line to find a seat.

Yes, sitting down is probably preferable to the standing room.  However if you get there early, then you'll probably want to eat there.  The food is just so-so.  I had the cajun fish sandwich and was fairly dissapointed.  I would probably recommend some bar food, like wings, or some similar safe choice.

As a music venue, it is absolutely spectacular.  You get a up close experience with some of the awesome talent that flows through Nashville.  I attended a live recording of Tyrone Wells for radio (Lightning 100), and it blew my mind.

I would recommend going to their website and selecting an artist of your taste.  Enjoy :)

Last night was my first visit to this veteran venue since they expanded & revamped the place.  What a difference!!

I arrived with some friends to catch Tim Akers & The Smoking Section's 7pm set(soul/funk band that you HAVE to see) and found seating right away.  The server was friendly and efficient, and the $10 cover charge was well worth it as the show was fantastic & so much fun.

They serve bar food, sandwiches, burgers, nachos, etc.  I had some fried pickle spears, and they were real tasty.  A few friends had the burger, and had good things to say about it.  The menu is well priced with most items coming to about $7 apiece.

The stage & seating areas are arranged in a way that makes perfect sense, unlike the old days ;)  There really isn't a bad seat in the house, the sound was great, and the new room arrangement left space for people to dance up front.  Though I didn't get up to shake my groove thing, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the group of ladies who did.

Upgrade!  This place went from being my least favorite venue in town to one of my favorites!

Gone is the awkward stage placement and un-dance friendly set-up.  The room seems much bigger (they must've purchased the space next door and knocked down a few walls--that's my guess).  The stage is definitely bigger.  There is a huge area right in front of the stage for standing and dancing.  There are still the four top tables if you choose to sit and listen or have  a meal prior to (or during) a show.

I joined a friend for the Mavericks last night.  We arrived a few minutes before the doors opened (at 6, show at 8) thinking we'd be clever and get a great table right in front.  Ha!  There was a line around the building.  We were lucky to find a table at the back.  Dinner was uneventful.  I ordered a pasta dish that was reminiscent of "Chicken Voila!".  It filled me up, so there is that.  Our server was extremely efficient and friendly despite having such a large section.  After eats and the opening acts, we paid our table tabs and took a spot right up front by the stage.  The crowd was incredibly sweet, allowing my petite friend and I (also rather short) to stand in front.

So yeah!  Great drinks, great sound, great room, great service and so-so food.

Small, intimate and excellent venue. Food nt so good. I had an Oyster Po-Boy that was absolutely awful. Didn't even eat it. Not sure about other food but listen, I wasn't there for the food. The music is awesome and the venue is about perfect. Multiple road trips from Atlanta to this place. Love it!

Went to see one of my favorite Nashville artists here last night, and while I had never been before the apparent renovations, it seems like everyone really appreciated the upgrade. I found it incredibly spacious, not overly crowded (though it does fill up!), and a great environment for enjoying a beer and music.

I didn't have anything to eat but all the appetizers being ordered around me (I sat at the bar) looked amazing. Didn't hear any complaints. A really great bar/grill/music venue. There aren't too many of these combo places that don't feel like you're shoulder to shoulder with people and standing on messy floors.

This place was clean, service was great, and the sound for music in there was awesome. I also noticed there was upstairs, balcony-style seating for a good portion of the space. Nice!

They could have a bit more parking space since I'm sure they get busy often, and there was an announcement for several cars in danger of being towed (don't risk it!). Also, I wouldn't consider this a sports bar in case you're wondering. They had a few TVs, but it's not set up to do that. This is more a live music, eat appetizers and drink at "cozy" tables type place.

Had a good time and would definitely return.

The new 3rd & Lindsley set-up has turned it into one of Nashville's better medium-sized venues. The stage is now at the back & center of a much larger room, there is ample seating (I'd guess capacity is somewhere in the 300-400 range), a full bar, and front and side balconies. The bartenders have always been super nice. They offer a menu of pretty standard, generally fried bar fare.

The sound is solid and the shows are good. The Wooten Brothers every Wednesday at 9:30 is a Nashville staple. Anytime The Players have a show, do yourself a favor and go.

I used to despise this place as a venue. It was small, cramped, 30% of the audience would be blocked from viewing the stage, and the bathrooms were terrible. They did a little bit of work since the last time I was there.

The stage has been moved, it appears they purchased the place next door and expanded. There are only 4 tables with obstructable views now, and those are near the entrance. The stage, a second upstairs section, a pit that I guess could double as a dance floor, good seating for roughly 100 more people has been added. Additionally they seem to have decent bathrooms finally. No more one-seaters.

I mean, I hated that place. I'd always come in and be stuck in the back looking at the backs of other people's heads... and now, you go in, there are open tables even at a decently packed event, there is room to move, yeah... I am now a fan of the space.

I was really surprised the last time I went there (saw Mike Doughty / Feb '12) - sound was good, seating good, bathrooms clean and no waiting, ability to get back to table, only had to have 1 person move to leave table, not a bad deal. Temperature was also good, but it was cold outside so not sure if that's a representative of their AC abilities.

Wish I had gotten some photos of the new place, looks like the ones here are of the old stage

Definitely one of my favourite bars in Nashville.

My boyfriend played a show here back in November and honestly, I think it was one of the best his band has played at around the US. It doesn't try to be anything it's not and it's looking A LOT better since it's remodel last June. Intimate venue with attentive staff. No smoking and stuff, which I loved, but my boyfriend wasn't as fond, but you know.

Just get a drink and hang around a while. It's worth it.

This is a great Nashville music spot, in fact one of the top places you can see authentic, talented artists in Nashville.  In 2010 my Nash friends and I went and saw a sold out show for a new up-and-coming band called The Civil Wars.  Maybe you've heard of them by now?  3rd and Lindsley has great taste on booking their bands.

The restaurant is still pretty tiny in size.  The food is okay, they have decent beer selection but most important is to keep your eyes peeled for the acts they book.  Even though I am in Texas I still like to track the musicians performing at 3rd and Lindsley.

Since the remodel, this place has definitely grown into one of the better small to mid size venues in Nashville.

Although the venue is larger, it is still easy to find an area that feels intimate. I like that there are high-top bar tables, regular four-top restaurant style table and then there is a balcony. Actually, with the remodel, there is also a balcony area to the right of the stage. And, a stand-up bar.

Parking in this area is easy, but you have to be prepared to walk a block or two. Most of the time when there are shows, the surrounding businesses are closed. This makes parking much simpler.

3rd & Lindsley's (remember the "d" in the name please!) sound always sound great. You can tell they have a grip on letting the music fill the room at every nook and cranny. And, you can bring your granny.

The food here is honestly average at best. But, I rather them specialize in music and drinks, and then food. After all, if the first two are great, then the third will be needed by the end of the night anyhow.

Getting a drink at the bar can be a bit challenging. I suggest standing at the bar and kickin up your spot for the night. And, drinking and standing is much safer than drinking an sitting (trust me, have a few drinks and then stand up real quick!). Much better to if your out looking to chat up some new folks.

The concert calendar here is top-notch. They really know how to book live music. And, many nights the music is featured live on the radio. Which is great, especially if you decide to chill at home and listen.

Service can be a bit slow. Sometimes, it is just hard to get staffing right a music venue. You really never know how many patrons can show on a given night.

Check out 3rd & LinDsley, you'll be sure to get your ear filled with some good tunes.

Why do I keep on going to places that aren't my "usual" places? Maybe I'm subconciously addicted to Yelp and feel the need to keep on reviewing, I don't know.

    At any rate...I digress.

So...apparently just last week this place got a remodel and expansion. No wonder it looked so different from the last time I was there, ten years ago. I went out to see a friend's band play here and I have to say, it's moved up in calibur.

The sound was awesome, the walls were all freshly painted, the bar was extended, the bartenders were super friendly and the stage is now huge. Well, not HUGE...but way bigger than it was. They even have a green room with posh leather (faux leather, I think) couches.

WAY different from the teeny, little dive club atmosphere it was before. With this bigger and better layout, they should be able to get some bigger bands in here. Think Exit/In or 12th and Porter style. Much better.

My first venture to 3rd and Lindsley was for the Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors Christmas show (definitely check them out if you haven't already!).  I was impressed with this venue.  Solid food choices and great service (despite the fact that our table was near the stage and the poor waitress had to navigate the hoard of people sitting in the floor to get to us).  Has a nice stage and great sound, as well as your everyday expected bar selections.  I thought the venue was a great size with a good amount of seating (apparently they've recently expanded!).  Also, the bathrooms are clean-which is definitely more than you can say about some bars or venues.

Taken the path less traveled for 3rd and Lindsley.. lunch!

Since I work within walking distance, I often find myself at 3&L for lunch. They have daily specials that come with two sides, and along with a soda it will run you $8.

The staff is extremely friendly, and sometimes a good story or two will slip out if you're chatty.

Other reviews cover seeing a show pretty well, but I consider 3&L a nice quiet lunch spot, that allows me to escape from the mundane for a few minutes.

This is definitely one of the best places to see live music in Nashville, especially since the renovations.  There are weeks I could be there every night.  My only complaint is the food.  They really need to revamp the menu and make the food as good as the sound and stage show.

3rd and Lindsley is a Nashville must-see - nothing fancy, just a bar, but still a great place for live music.  Not only do local up and comers play, but surprise shows from Vince Gill or Toby Keith could pop up at any moment!  The have this group called "The Players" that play there - who are incredible.  (Michael Rhodes, John Hobbs, Paul Franklin, Eddie Bayers and Brent Mason.)  Among MANY others.

I went and saw The Pat McGee Band last night, and the sound was great.  I was not surprised - every show I go to there has pretty decent sound...which is hard to say these days.

The bar is pretty good, and the prices are fair.  They also have a menu, filled with bar food, and more.  There is happy hour daily from 11:00 AM-6:00 PM.    http://www.3rdandlinds...

It's a bizarre layout, but it's a cool venue with a lot of fun acts.  There is an upstairs for extra room - so the capacity is like 250.  Parking has never been a problem for me, as there is plenty of street parking if the lot gets full.

Awesome live music! The Wooten brothers?! Seriously?! From what I hear, this is one of those places where Nashville musicians and recording industry types like to hang out and get thier groove on. I can see why. Pretty straight foreward stuff here. Good drinks and great live music. No frills. Just a hop and a skip from down town and parking wasn't a problem either.

I can definately see myself frequenting this joint.

You can't always judge a book by the cover people!

3rd and Lindsley is a great little venue! It isn't fancy and it doesn't try to be. There is nothing fake about this place I assure you. It is a corner bar where you can enjoy some good food and a brew while listening to Nashville's mostly undiscovered. It is the place where local fans go to see their favorite local artists.  I've attended 3rd and Lindsley quite frequently the last two years I've hung out in Nashville and it is honestly one of my favorite places to see a concert.

The bartender Tara is hilarious and the seating is so close to the stage that you form an intimate connection with the performers unlike in any other venue I have experienced. I highly recommend going to a show when the doors open (typically around 6p.m.) to enjoy some food and hang out with the band before the show as they are eating too. I made an amazing decision to order the Cajun seasoned tilapia sandwich. It is a MUST!!! The Reuben sandwich is another delicious option.

Check their calendar online, grab a group of friends and enjoy the secret of 3rd and Lindsley.

A cute, modest lounge/bar? Most acts who pass through 3rd & Lindsley are more acoustic/softer than bands you'll see at Exit/In or the End. I've seen Yann Tiersen and Sondre Lerche here, to give you some examples. That being said about the music, the place is equally intimate and cozy.

I LOVE this little nugget of a bar.  When I was lucky enough to call Nashville home for a few months I would spend my time listening to live music here.  Artists like Little Big Town (before they made it big), Shelly Fairchild and local singer songwriters would show up to sing to you until your heart burst with happiness.  You are right up in their grills when they are performing so if you are uncomfortable being that close to raw talent I suggest standing in the back.

If you are visiting Nashville you must check out 3rd and Lindsley.  Check out the website...buy a ticket to a show and find yourself falling in love with this bar and live music.

I used to go to 3rd & Lindsley on many a Sunday night, for Lightning 100's "Nashville Sunday Night" show. I finally learned my lesson and started listening an the radio at home. Sunday is just not my favorite night to go out, and it's so much better listening to the show in the comfort of your own home... You can imagine that you're there, and then not have to deal with the annoyances that are 3rd & Lindsley. The venue seems like it was first designed as a restaurant and then later they decided it would be fun to have concerts too. It's just not laid out in a way that makes it easy to see from a good portion of the venue.

Sunday nights are usually busy, so I do tend to stay away, but other nights are really not so bad. The food is also not so bad, but it's not so good either. Same goes for the drinks. So, as far as venues go, it's not the best, but it's not the worst. At least now it's non-smoking, that removes one whiny complaint from this review.

They often have decent names of varying genres on their calendar, so I wish more could be said for the venue itself. I would go a lot more if it wasn't just so-so in most categories other than the artist line-up.

3rd and Lindsley is a music venue out of the way of downtown, but with a great live stage sound. It's worth driving the 6 extra blocks past Broadway down to the end of 3rd street to visit 3rd and Lindsley.  The venue has nice sightlines so that you can see the stage from most spots in the room. They have a small upper balcony where notable ears like to listen from.

I like to go to 3rd and Lindsley for their Sunday Night live broadcast.  They broadcast the show on Lightening 100 from 8-10pm. The band is usually some good up and coming band.  I saw Landon Pig perform here a while back and he sounded great. The room sound is balanced well, so you can hear everything without going deaf.
Go on a Sunday night, it's a lot of fun.

This is another place I've only ever been to see a showcase. I've never gone just to go out. It's a pretty decent venue, although if it's packed it gets really hot. My fav place is on the balcony, right over the stage, to view a performance. Granted, if it's a showcase you have to be on the VIP list to get up there.

They have Shiner, which makes me happy. Drinks are usually good - although I mostly stick to beer here. The food is typical bar food, if you stick to something fried, you should be good.  I think they still allow smoking too, which is kind of a drag, but don't quote me on that. Parking gets pretty bad too, so make sure you aren't running late.

So my office has moved around the corner from here and we went for lunch here on our first day in the new office.  It's an okay lunch.  They had country fried steak.  It was good.  The gravy was a little strange.  It looked like it had sausage crumbled up in it but it really didn't have any flavor.  The mashed potatoes were good and the fried okra was typical.  Good, quick, convenient lunch.

I have yet to become a big fan of 3rd and Lindsley, but I know a lot of people who are and that have pretty good taste, so that must say something in it's favor.  I guess my negative feelings for it are due to my terrible experience on my first time visiting there.  This was a few months ago when I went to see Dr. Dog perform there.  3rd and Lindsley isn't one of the smaller venues in town but it's by far not the biggest.  It is set up very weird and impractically, especially for shows like the Dr Dog one where they sold, in my opinion, way more tickets than they should have.  The interior is shaped in an L formation with the stage being situated in the corner.  The longest side is shot-gunned back and crammed with more tables than I would think possible to fit there.  The room is big enough that if you sit against the far wall it is hard to see the stage over the people sitting in the tables in front of you.

The smaller section of the L is pretty much useless because the bar is situated between it and the stage.  If there's any sort of crowd your view is completely blocked.  There is a second floor balcony, but the stage is only visible to less than half of the tables up there.  The majority of my time spent there was spent moving from one totally blocked view to another until we got so annoyed we went to my car and listened to the show on the radio (it happened to be a live broadcast that night).  I could've done that for free to begin with.

Now the other times I've visited, the place was a lot more enjoyable, but it was also a lot less packed, and by a huge margin.  It actually can be quite an intimate experience between you and the performer if you can ignore the large amount of empty space behind you.  They have a full bar, nothing too special about their beverage offerings, but they do have more to choose from than some other venues in town.  They serve food that seems to be of the regular bar food type, but their kitchen tends to be open weird and unreliable hours (the one time I wanted to order a snack the kitchen was already closed and it was like 8 pm).  This place is good as long as you're going to a local show or something that you know is defiantly not going to bring in a crowd, but I wouldn't recommend it as a regular stomping ground.

3rd and Lindsley isn't a huge, fancy, or awe-causing venue, but still it's pretty great. Far away enough from downtown to not be destroyed by the ever so classy Music City tourists, the venue has maintained a great authentic feel to it. I went with friends to see Mandy Barnett sing at 3rd Lindsley; she was amazing and the venue was small enough to make it feel like an intimate performance. The place is smallish so if you want to check out your favorite performer get there early to snag a table. On my way out I did some perusing of their upcoming events, and I though the variety of shows was pretty outstanding. I also saw that G love and Special Sauce had passed through 3rd and Lindsley and I hadn't even noticed, seriously sad times.

Intimate music venue a little off the beaten path but still really close to downtown.  Acts tend to be along the folksy alt-rock, progressive rock variety, which is right  up my alley.  Get there early; there are a lot of good seats (including the upstairs looking down on the stage) but there some spots where you just cannot see any of the stage.
