Neighborhood: Brooklyn/Park Slopethis store is great. i'm always on the look out for eco-friendly stores, and this is one of the best not over-priced ones i've found. while the store isn't huge i was able to buy most of my holiday presents here this year. they carry a few pieces of jewelry, bags, kitchen supplies (bamboo products, recycled glassware, etc.), personal care products, and quite a few products made from recycled materials. it has definitely become one of my go to place for gifts.

This is our go-to place when we have to shop for gifts and have no clue what to get. We usually end up buying things for ourselves too. Also great for dropping off dead batteries and other stuff that's not so good to put in the regular trash--I wish more stores offered this.
This is my new favorite store. The guy working there was really nice, and the Thermals were playing over their XM radio. Too cool!
Stocking environmentally friendly and healthy personal care products and cleaning supplies, the store is remarkable because of its heavy focus on the reuse of materials. They have clocks made out of record albums. Papier mache garbage cans made out of foreign language magazines. Recycled crayons made by developmentally disabled people. And notebooks created by binding found and scrap paper.
The final item is far and away my favorite -- and was hella tempting. But for $18, I can make my own scrap paper notebooks. As a lively design item, the notebooks are awesome -- but $18?
This is a really cool store.

Don't know what to do with your old cell phone, batteries, computer components or even all of those extra crayons you have lying around? Bring them on into 3r, a sustainable living "future-friendly" shop, located right near Blue Ribbon on Fifth Avenue in Park Slope and the good folks who own this place will dispose of all those toxic items in a safe and timely manner. I had no idea that you couldn't throw out crayons! Get your natural chewing gum making kits here, your bamboo cutting boards and even your earth-friendly baby clothing. Show the earth some love!

I love, love, love this store. I was in the neighborhood picking out some jewelry, and happened by this little oasis of environmental bliss. They are not the typical overpriced boutique with a veneer of do good intentions. No, no, 3R is instead the type of store that could change the world. They have a broad selection of everything from super soft, super cool organic cotton t-shirts, to recycled rubber change purses, to clocks that are made out of recycled album covers (so cool), to organic chocolate. On top of their truly original and conscientious selections, the owners are super friendly and super nice. They also take suggestions for what to add to their stock.
If you love your friends and family and love the earth that you live in, 3R should be your first and only stop for gifts.

i hate conforming with the crowds but i have to agree with my fellow Yelpers and say that i absolutely love this store. it's one of my favorite places to shop for gifts, and most of what they offer is at a reasonable price (unlike stores that make it too expensive to be environmentally friendly). i would love them just on principle but their stuff is so great that i don't have to.

My Environmental Science teacher told us about this place, which was how I first discovered it. I love the concept behind this shop and wish there were more like this. Every six months, when I get in a frenzy, and feel the need to clean my apartment, I get a box and collect all the toxic things I no longer need and bring 'em here. If you're reading this and you don't know about this place, I urge you to start bringing your cpu parts and other things here...the way we're living will eventually do some serious damage (it's already existent) to the earth, and if we keep on going this way, the earth will become one big garbage can...so take action now!

loved this store. bought a cute brooklyn t-shirt with peace signs on it and solidified my hippy-wanna-be-ness. the owner told me that the cute chocolate candies they sell at the register are good, but i was disappointed. oh well. my shirt is cool.
