I was in the market for a new auto repair business when the place I had been going left me with my pockets hanging out for un-needed repairs. One of the local dealerships doesn't have this big, beautiful, new facility on 16th Street and Camelback for nothing. I know I put more than my share of my hard earned money into that building. The last time I left tracks in this garage was after I was up-sold a ton of work that my SUV did not need at the time, to the tune of some nearly $2,000 - when I had gone in for a regular oil change. The car repair sales associate, Damion, seemed surprised when I requested the replaced parts back to me (my mother taught me to always ask for the replaced parts), after they finished all the work he "recommended" (scare tactic is more accurate). One freshly replaced part "...couldn't be found." (Interesting, in light of the fact that they had just finished it.) The rest of the parts didn't seem to show enough wear to warrant replacement, in my opinion. So, I took them around for a few other neutral opinions. Even un-prefaced by explanation, those opinions all concurred with mine.
I challenged the need for the work performed with the Damion of the dealership. And although I didn't press charges in court (but did consider it, just didn't have any extra time to deal with it at the time) - this formerly, quite loyal, customer will surely never return to this establishment - plus they have a really sour review, now.
However, I have found solace in my car repair needs at 3A Auto Service in Sunnyslope. At this well established, family owned business, I am not treated as "fresh meat" because I am a woman embarking on an oil change sans a male figure for protection. To date, they have been honest about the work they have done and have been like a "husband" in that they provide a heads up as to what to expect for repairs or maintenance in the next few months. Everything they have recommended, to date, seems reasonable and checks out with a second opinion. This could be a grand, auto, love affair! Rather than an auto affair that cost me grands!! I give 3A Auto Service a 5 star rating - girls, you gotta go there! -

I take my vehicle to 3A Automotive because of the wonderful service AND the fact they are involved in and support the surrounding community.
They have been great at taking care of my old Merceds and helpful in guiding me to what repairs are necessary and what I should be keeping an eye on.
They are always involved in the Sunnyslope community and give back in numberous ways. I love locally owned businesses!

History
Established in 1975
3A Automotive was founded in 1975 by the Alauria Family's twin brothers Jim & Jon along with their father Archie, hence "3-A". It all started at 1931 W. Cheryl Drive in Phoenix. 3A was a small three bay shop that was growing fast.
By 1989, 3A was "busting at the seams" on Cheryl Drive and Jim and his wife Earlene decided that it was time to move and purchased the current location at 1539 W. Hatcher Road. From there 3A took off and went from two to four mechanics right away to keep up with the demand for his services.
From the beginning the motto has been "Treat customers right and they will never leave you." Well that viewpoint has proven successful as 3A Automotive is now celebrating over 35 years of automotive service to the people in Phoenix still serving some of their original customers from 1975.

Meet the Business Owner: Jim A.
Jim Alauria moved to Phoenix in 1960 from upstate NY & graduated from Alhambra High in 1970. Since his teenage years Jim has loved to work on cars. For the past 35 years he has built his business on Honesty, Integrity and fixing cars right the first time. He is a Master Mechanic and prides himself on fixing customer problems with their cars in the most economical way without sacrificing quality. He spends most of his time now training his staff and watching over the Quality Control area of 3A.
Jim has been happily married to his wife Earlene for 37 years and they have two grown kids, Jimmy and Kerri.
In his off time Jim enjoys mastering the craft of making red wine, working on his classic cars & spending time with his wife Earlene & their two beautiful grandkids.
