It's about time 39 http://DollarGlasses.com gets a 5th star from me, because they just saved me about $185.

Being the whore for thrift that I am, I bought a pair of Yves Saint Laurent sunglasses at Nordstrom Rack with the hopes of having my prescription lenses put in.  I first took them to a place near my home, and they quoted me around $260 after all is said and done.  In my mind, I was like, "FUCK THAT!! I'm gonna see what http://39dollarglasses... can do for me."  But instead, I kindly told the woman, "I'll have to think about it..."

Dude, http://39dollarglasses... does it again.  $78.  All I had to do was mail them my frames with delivery confirmation thru US Postal Service, enclose the invoice that they emailed to me, and my check for the amount and they very promptly processed my order;  It took about 2 weeks from beginning to end.

So friggin happy with them, I can't help but scream!!

    CJP15 gets you 15% off.

I got two pair of glasses for $49 shipped priority. I placed my order on April 3rd and received them on the 13th. They arrived in black clamshells and included a nice little screwdriver keychain (x3!), two little drawstring microfiber bags and an itemized receipt.

One pair I love, they're great. The other pair is too big for my face, like a man's style, possibly. But they're both pretty okay quality for $50 to my door.

Getting glasses from this company was a nightmare and after everything was done, it took about 3 months.

They have a program where you can mail them your old frames and for $39 (for the general presrciption without add-ons or upgrades) they'll put new lenses in with your new prescription. I'd done this before with them 3 years ago and it was fine, but this time they got the prescription wrong twice, so I kept having to mail my frames back for correction. Also they messed up with the shipping label on one of the attempts to mail it back. The shipping label's weight was too low. They seemed to make mistakes whenever possible.

On their third try they got it close enough that I accepted them. However, the anti-reflective coating is different in the left eye which is strange.

The customer service was lousy and unapologetic. They made no attempt to make up for how many times they screwed up. Also they put you on hold for 15+ minutes listening to the worst saxophone muzac on loop.

The fact that my glasses still aren't 100% right (the anti reflecting coating doesn't match from eye to eye) makes me think they're almost incompetent as a company and I will never buy anything from them again.

Stay the hell away. Go to zenni optical instead. Better prices, though their customer service isn't great either.

Bang for your buck: 4 stars
If you've got astigmatisms and bad eyesight, you know that a trip the optometrist isn't going to come cheap.  I usually end up spending somewhere between $250-$350 per pair by the time the bill totals up.  The last time I went in to get my eyes inspected was no exception - the salesperson told me that .with. insurance I'd still be looking at upwards of two hundred dollars for my glasses - and this at a Lenscrafters.  I said thanks, obtained my prescription, and went home to think about it.

I had heard about 39 Dollar Glasses online from several sources, and figured I'd check it out -- after all, forty bucks was a drop in the bucket compared to what I'd be shelling out for glasses otherwise. I went online and found that they had a good selection of glasses available. With a little contemplation, I found a pair that suited my needs and ordered it. When it arrived in the mail, I tried them on, and found that they worked just fine.  Much better deal than spending two hundred plus dollars on a pair of glasses!

    Long term viability: 2.5 stars
Here's the catch - It seems like the glasses only last about a year. I got metal frames, as I am pretty rough on my glasses and am blind without them.  While the frames withstood just fine, my right lens - which is somewhat thicker than the left - has twice now done this weird separating thing.  On the first pair of glasses I ordered, it happened after about a year, and I figured it was a fluke, so I ordered another pair.  I was happy with the new pair, and the fact that I could see clearly again.  Unfortunately, now that it's been something over a year since I last ordered, my right lens is doing the same thing, which means that my vision is a little clouded on my right eye - not enough to obscure, but enough to feel like my lens is perpetually in need of cleaning.

    Overall Rating: 3 stars
At the end of the day, even with getting two pairs of glasses, I spent well less than half on glasses than I would normally have to, and they've lasted me about two years. Given that I'm in need of a new prescription again, that's not an awful run time, and I did save money.  Would I buy from them again? It depends on my budget.  If I have the space to spend a little more and buy locally, I will -- but if my budget is tight, I'll very likely get my next pair of glasses from 39 Dollar Glasses.

I went here for cheap reading glasses.

Surprisingly high quality for cheapo glasses. With even LensCrafters wanting $200 for reading glasses, this site is amazing. If you've ever wished you could just buy some drugstore reading glasses and slap in your prescription without paying a lot of dough, this is the answer.

It's do-it-yourself. You pick out the frames, enter your prescription, and send it off. A week later, perfectly serviceable glasses show up, and you can read again. Use the $160 you saved to buy books.

Beware. I sent in a pair of brand new sunglass frames to have my prescription fitted to them and they were shipped back broken. The rim that holds the lenses in place was partially sheared off; my suspicion is that they didn't cut the lens correctly and forced a too-large lens into the socket. I'll revise this if customer service makes this right, but at this point it doesn't look like they're going to do anything but let me "return" the lenses.

Very helpful sales staff but they can't get my progressive prescription right.  They remade my glasses at no charge but my optometist says the lenses in the new glasses lenses are still not correctly positioned and the prescription is slightly off axis.

I would try them again but not for progressives.

My order was placed on May 20 and I just received them today, June 21.  a whole month and a day.  My glasses apparently "did not pass final inspection" not once or twice but 3 times.  i was unsuccessful in contacting anybody with customer service by phone the 5 or 6  times i called them.  the glasses were inexpensive compared to all of the retail places i visited.  the quality of the frames and lenses are ok but nothing special.  overall it was a good value but the long turn around and lack of customer service killed for me.   i wouldn't  buy from them again.

NOT bad, not bad at all.  I sent them my ovvn frames (all the vvhile crossing my fingers).  The glasses arrived about 3 vvks. later, vvhich is about the same time my optic vvould take.   I had progressives made up vvith the thinner lens and they are just fine.  All in all, I really feel that I saved more than $200.  I'd recommend them & I vvould use them again.  if you don't knovv hovv to measure your eye distance just google the hovv to!

If I could give a zero I would!  Pathetic customer service; does not stand behind their products despite their representation that they have a 100% warranty; trying to deal with them is a waste of time.
