BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF MY LIFE!!
I was soooooooo excited for this place when I initially saw it. The place is very colorful and clean. I had huge expectations for this place until I received my order. I ordered flan and a "homemade" waffle. However, I received a damn Eggo waffle!! I didn't even bother eating it. The flan had pieces of metal all over it which can't be healthy. When I asked the waiter questions about the menu, he had no problem admitting that he had no clue what anything was. Mind you, he was dressed in sweats and a tank top. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but I'm willing to try this place again and order the more Asian type stuff.

Fun! Come on, bring your Midwestern friends and family here--they'll probably freak out initially, but then be delighted. This is a Hong Kong style "healthy dessert" cafe, I guess, so a little different from the Taiwanese stuff I'm more familiar with. But it's all in the same spirit of "Weird Stuff With Ice, Which Tastes Much Better Than It Looks, And Is Purported To Be Good For You Somehow."
Go check out their website. If you haven't seen this kind of thing before, you may be thinking that they're bringing the crazy. OK, they are, but it's good crazy. My first time there, I ordered one of the zodiac drinks. It had little orange PODS that burst in my mouth! Now that's entertainment.
I agree with the other reviewer who said you should really stick to the more unusual-sounding items on the menu, but you can't go wrong with any of the zodiac drinks if you're leery of the really "interesting"-looking stuff. The flavored creme brulee is decent, too, though the green tea one isn't up to, say, Sanraku's standards--but it's cheaper than Sanraku, too, so what the heck. Bring a few friends and order a bunch of things to experiment with.
If all else fails, you'll at least have a great source of props for that big alien banquet scene in your next low-budget sci-fi movie. But really, that'd be a waste. I predict that if you give 37 C a try this summer, you'll find yourself hooked.

My family and I came here for dessert for my birthday after a nice Korean meal at Manna Restaurant.
Ambiance: This place was nice and clean. Then again, it better be considering it is located in the new Pacific Commons plaza in Fremont/Newark on the Auto Mall Parkway. It seems like a great place to hang out, the big DOWNFALL.............NO WIFI. My brother is a big cafe guy, and the moment we walked in, he already was thinking of making this place his new "spot". When he asked the server if there was WiFi, she said 'no'. Although they have WiFi, it is private and requires a password to access. So they lost my brother's business right there.
Dessert: I got the Longan de Guava. Which is shaved ice with tapioca pearls (that look like tiny cells or eyeballs) with guava and lychee. It was sweet, refreshing, it was yummy. My brother ordered their hot sweet tofu, which we normally get at dim sum. It was so yummy. The fact that it was tofu, makes the dessert feel healthy. haha. And they have two sizes of the tofu and it comes in the cutest little bucket.
Service: There was one girl that was working most of the tables. Therefore the service was slow (but if she was the only one working, I couldn't really fault her). But we had to ask for our bill (which too awhile), and i had to go up to the counter to pay and get change. If the business picks up, they just need more help.
I will definitely be back here and I heard they are open pretty late. It is a major plus that it local for me as well.

My review is based from the point of view of a ABC - american born chinese. aka i have no knowledge of the traditional weird/fancy chinese desserts that mom's adore. so honestly I was looking through the menu and there was nothing particularly eye catching, although there was a wide variety of things nothing seemed all that special or all that good for that matter. i ended up getting the "horse" drink, it was pretty good I must say, however 3 of my friends who went with me had to wait about 20 minutes to get their drinks... slow service for the lose! price is decent, but could be a bit lower for a poor college kid like me.

This place was...an experience. The menu contained a lot of REAL Chinese desserts, which I really have no idea what they even taste like. I ended up just selling out & getting the egg puffs. You can never go wrong with egg puffs. Or so I thought. The damn things don't have any filling inside! It was so plain it was gross. My boyfriend's drink was pretty damn good though, I believe it was strawberry with like that yang-le-duo yogurty-type stuff. The service was SUPER SLOW, and there were only 2 other tables in the store besides mine. It seemed like they took 10 minutes just to make 1 drink. I probably would go there again to get one of those yogurt-y drinks, but probably not for dessert.

Their egg puffs are ridiculously fun to eat. It's like a giant bubble wrap where you can break off individual bubbles and munch away.
I also tried the mango gigi, which was this sweet, creamy mango concoction with sago balls and mango cubes. Pretty tasty.
(Oh, but God did we had a ball with the names... like really, mango GIGI? why GIGI? They had to go and ruin "dou fu hua" or tofu pudding by calling it "tofu flakes curdled in wooden bucket." Yeah, because that sounds sooooo appetizing.)
Service was a little harried and the place was very crowded--though it was a Saturday night. The menu is SUPER extensive to the point that it probably takes people longer to decide what they want to eat than it does for them to actually eat. I'll be back to try out the thick toast and a bunch of other foreign things with weird names ("tadpole"?)...

I eagerly awaited their opening. We decided to have dinner here after seeing the colorful menu. The bowls of ramen were tiny - my brothers were saying that they would definitely need to go somewhere else after and get more grub. And it was easily 8 bucks a bowl, so I was not impressed.
The only reason for 3 stars is because the drinks were okay. Maybe we should only have drinks/desserts here. I had the weirdest drink ever - something with colorful balls in it. Kinda scary.

This place offers a large assortment of desserts. The menu comes with pictures, making it easier to decide on something. I got the mango gigi while my boyfriend picked the waffle with ice cream and fresh fruit. I enjoyed my dessert but the latter left a lot to be desired.
Here's my advice, do not order anything that remotely sounds American and pleeeaseee, refrain from getting anything with ice cream! Honestly speaking, ice cream from Rite-Aid tastes 100x better. The green tea ice cream, IF it was green tea, tasted more like.... caramel. And the waffle, closely resembled an Eggo, I wouldn't be surprised if it was. I think that alone says enough...
Oh and make sure you come here with enough cash unless you plan on eating more than $20 worth of food.
On the plus side, they're open late on Saturdays, til 1am.
3.5 stars
This is one of those places you're lucky enough to have in your neighborhood especially when you're in the mood for some late night chinese desserts.
Once you've been seated, you're given a colorful menu filled with pictures of almost every dessert they serve. This helps especially when reading something on the menu that says, 'tadpole'. HUH? But no worries, there's a picture to help you figure out what they're really referring to. They also serve free, hot tea.
After taking a good 10 minutes looking over the menu, we settled for a banana split, ice cream with red bean and mango, mango dessert with tiny barley (mango gi gi), and rice balls filled with sesame in ginger tea. The only dessert that really stood out was the mango dessert with tiny barley (mango gi gi). The puree was great b/c you could tell that it was made with fresh mangos. The ice cream was ordinary - for the price, i'd much rather enjoy a well mixed order of ice cream from Cold Stone. The rice ball dessert wasn't anything too special since my dad is a regular at making them at home. Fyi, they aren't kidding when they say it's ginger tea. The taste of ginger is VERY strong. They also serve small appetizers such as chicken wings and meals such as a variety of ramen.
Overall, a nice place to come to when you just want to enjoy some late night dessert with friends or family.

37 C is located in this "international plaza" which is apparently the new expansion of Pacific Commons. Funny thing is it is basically the 17th China town in Fremont.
This is yet another happy yelp find! 37 C is such a fun dessert+drinks+snacks cafe and it is open late! They close at 11pm on weeknights and even later other nights. I'm not going to lie..shiny lights and rainbow colors totally win me over. I sat on a purple wooden chair and my friend say on a yellow one. There were colorful lights along the walls which were also painted different colors. Music was poppy and loud but at the right volume so conversation can be made. There was also some Asian comedy show playing on their flatscreen but I didn't pay much attention to that. The atmosphere just made me so h!a!p!p!y! but at the same time you feel a little bit of tack.
The menu is so impressive! A picture and a brief description for every food choice. My friend and I spent forever flipping through the vibrant, extensive menu trying to narrow down our choices but ended up asking for suggestions anyway. The service is great, too. Our waiter had an accent but really took the time to recommend various goodies and explain their different jellies (aloe vera, coral weed, honey pearl, and tadpole).
We ended up trying the mango black pearl barley with coconut milk and the guava and lychee icee bowl. Both were good. Other choices we were considering were the pumpkin sweet rice soup, banana creme brulee, QQ treats, and baked puddling. To be honest, I had no clue what half the things on the menu were but picked solely according to the yumminess and colorfulness of the pictures. Hey, worked for me! What I like about these desserts was that they were light yet hit the spot. They didn't make me feel lethargic or bloated afterwards but still sweet and tangy. I didn't LOVE my treats but I feel like it could've been because of our random choices. There are so many more that I need try. will probably up a star 4 after my next visit.
I will be back to try the other 2309482 desserts that they have. Woohoo!

Last Sat evening was our first time here. We came here upon the recommendation of a friend who told us that it had a better selection of Asian desserts than Bolansa at McCarthy Blvd.
The cafe wasn't too difficult to find (just behind Costco). Parking was quite easy at abt 7pm.
The dessert menu is extensive and the colorful photos make it easier to picture what you're ordering.
We had 2 bowls of ramen and 3 appetizers (fried chicken wings, salt & pepper fried radish cake & chicken satay). Only the fried chicken wings were good. The fried radish cake was not particularly tasty. The chicken satay was salty and was more like yakitori. The ramen portions were quite miserable. If you're used to Maruichi's portion size, this is like about half of that.
This is really more of a dessert place than a meal place.
Our mango pudding dessert with fresh fruit was excellent. The wait staff was very friendly as well. I'm definitely coming back.

This place is a Hong Kong-style dessert place. I'm kinda new to this type of establishment. The snacks were quite tasty.

cool--a new area developing nicely...
I was contemplating giving it 4 stars also since they are no other Cantonese dessert cafes around in Fremont, but really the food is about 3 stars (maybe I'll change once I try more). Family run place with a very impressive menu. It's true that I wasn't sure what a lot of the stuff was. For that reason, it's worth it to go back.
I tried the toast with chocolate banana (hmm not so good), the mix sesame and almond (was better--they gotta work on mixing it like yin and yang though), also the salt and pepper radish cakes (savory). It was too cold for me to try any of their drinks.
They said they are changing their hours to be open until 2 AM. Maybe since the nearby Kaenyama is a restaurant/club...

It was a sad day for all of us South County fans of Asian "healthy dessert" when Desserts Zone (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) shut its doors for good a few months back. From that point on, to satisfy our cravings, we had to either trek all the way down to Milpitas or venture up to Oakland for what amounted to dishes not even half as tasty. It got to the point where many of us just gave up entirely.
Well, fear not, my friends. The day has finally come that a worthy replacement has graced our presence, and its name is 37 C Dessert Cafe. The second branch of the popular location on Taraval in SF, 37 C is what you would call an HK style dessert shop in the same vein as Hui Lau Shan (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), 100% Healthy Dessert (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), and Break Time (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).
However, I doubt any of them can boast such a substantial menu so thick, it would give War and Peace a run for its money. My favorite Yelper and I just sat there, and flipped and flipped and flipped through all the pages. After ten minutes, we still had the darndest time trying to narrow down our choices. In addition to being endless, the bills of fare are all snazzed up, complete with pictures in full color. If you ever come in, and the menus are soaking wet, I sincerely apologize. Practically all of your tried and true favorites are readily available, as well as a few unique items. Here is a small sampling:
-"Zodiac" drinks (different flavors for horoscope signs)
-Mixed fruit papaya boat with sago
-Mango black pearl barley with coconut milk
-Strawberry/banana/mango gi gi
-Pumpkin glutinous rice sweet soup
-Banana creme brulee
-Osmanthus jello with mango
-Mango pudding
-Egg puffs
-Waffles with various fruits and ice cream
-Glutinous sesame dumplings with various toppings
-Various fried snack food items
-Various noodle dishes (ramen, udon, etc.)
*Whew* Please, let me give my fingers a rest now! I may sound like a broken record, but I must reiterate... the selection here at 37 C is absolutely massive, and from what I have tried so far, you really can't go wrong with whatever your heart desires.
Furthermore, to promote the "healthy dessert" concept, many of the offerings contain one or more of the following:
-Tadpole (not exactly sure what this consists of) - improves brain development and aids in the growth of strong bones and teeth
-Aloe vera - helps slow the aging process and increases immune function to ward off diseases
-Coral weed - has the effect of lowering cholesterol and improving vision
-Honey pearl - promotes a healthy digestive tract and weight control
Best of all, if you ever have a late night craving, no need to worry because doors are open until 11 pm on weeknights, and 1 am on Fri and Sat nights. The staff is friendly and efficient, and on our most recent visit in the twilight hours, we counted a whopping 8, yes... EIGHT employees manning the shop, so you know the service is guaranteed to be quick.
If there is one fault to 37 C, I must say that the decor is a bit plain compared to some of its competitors. Perhaps, I just got spoiled from the exquisite designs over at Dessert Republic (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). Seating capacity is 45 max, with the perfect amount of spacing between tables to provide maximum comfort whilst chomping away on your bowl of sago with a mango ice cream waffle on the side.
As any other loyal customer would, I stuck with the now defunct Desserts Zone until the bitter end, and prayed that one day, its legacy would be resurrected. Like the phoenix rising from the ashes, 37 C has now brought us a new life, and hope for nothing but dessert bliss for many years to come.

DAMN!
I thought I would be the FIRST to review! :(
SADNESS.
Well, I would have had I not came home and passed out after eating my yummy dessert at 37 Degrees :)
As all you East Bayers may know, its extremely hard to find any decent asian type dessert place in the area, unless you trek down to either Oakland or go south to Milpitas, and for those living in between it can be quite a drive.
I LOVE asian desserts, and I am not afraid to admit that at times I have driven out to SF JUST for the purpose of getting some decent dessert... I am THAT crazy.
Last night the *other* favorite yelper and I came out here, after he insisted that we try this place, since he has been eagerly awaiting the opening of this fine fine location, right next to Kaenyama, the pseudo Benihana restaurant/club in the new Asian center on Boscell.
I was half expecting some medium sized basic menu, but lo and behold they had a gigantic menu ranging from your sago to your waffle and ice cream to a huge list of hot very asian desserts such as osmanthus(?) and "tong yuen" in a gamut of flavors such as peanut, seasame, to a variety of zodiac drinks to other drinks such as old san francisco and colorful world (translated from cantonese). OMG. HUGE MENU!
FANTASTIC.
So we had:
Satay Chicken Skewers - Not too bad, but kinda small for 3.50
Ginger Tea and Peanut "Tong Yuen" - this was gooooood cuz it was warm albeit a little TOO gingery but it was still good
Dragon Zodiac Drink - Hmmm a little weird, but maybe cuz im not used to the mix of flavors....
Overall... FOUR STARS, it would have been FIVE if there was another tv and they were placed better and were actually ON, and if they closed the damn door.
OMG.

I saw a bunch of people inside at 2pm on a saturday.
thus, even though i was as full as heck, i went in and ordered a dessert.
omg, i wanted everything on the menu. i really wanted to tried the brick toast, actually I SHOULd have gotten the brick toast instead of the waffle with ice cream. being the greedy kid that I am, i ordered the waffle and finished every LAST bite of it.
oh dear, my stomach seriously expanded to like 2384082934 times its size. oh mine, the things my stomach has to go through for the love of dessert! ITs worth it though!
yum, i will go back soon to eat everything on the menu! hmm....wow, i just finished dinner and I'm already thinking of getting the egg nuggets there!

Went to this place with a friend on a monday night. At first the name made me think of some odd numbered bra size. 37 C? But its 37 degree celsius apparently. Which in fahrenheit is about 99 degrees or so? I don't connect that with a dessert cafe but whatever. The place was about one third full, not very busy but service was slow. My dessert came out a good 10 minutes before my friend's. Which was weird because mine seemed more complicated to make. The menu was huge, with many strange things on it. Tadpole, coral weed, etc. At least there were pictures. Many looked yummy, but I admit some looked downright disgusting and the names weren't appetizing. I ordered the mango green tea red bean sundae. It was pretty good. My friend ordered the mango black barley with milk. Hers was gooooood. Fresh mango. Free tea. They played chinese music but on the flat screen plasma on the wall graphic violent scenes from Resident Evil were playing. Kinda messed with the ambiance of the whole place. Prices seemed reasonable. They have ramen and other food too but I don't know if I'd really bother. I'll come back again on a night where I'm hungry for dessert after 9pm! You have to spend 20 bucks to use your credit card. Next time I'd like to try a QQ ball. I'm so curious to know what its made of..

I went here last night with my buddy after a good meal of sushi. We were looking for a dessert place that was open late, and we ended up here. We were pleasantly surprised by the extensive menu with lots of options for hot desserts (it was cold out!).
We had to get help deciding what to get and the kind waiter recommended the tadpole stuff. We got one of those (with mango gigi - don't really know what that is either) and the silky tofu steamed thing in a wooden container. He actually recommended this sesame thing since they just made it that day, but I passed.
The tadpole was ... interesting? It was really crunchy and didn't have much flavor. It wasn't bad, but it's not something I'd be going back for. The tofu thing was good and piping hot! I almost burned my tongue. But that's a good thing. It's just like those tofu things you can buy at ranch 99 with the syrup you pour on top. But silkier. Good stuff.
I'm just happy that there's somewhere to go in the east bay that's open later than 9 or 10pm that serves dessert. We'll have to go back to try the 100 other things that are on the menu.
We were the only ones at the place when we went so it's hard not be prompt, but the desserts came quickly. The waiter was also very nice and helpful (and patient with all the questions we had about the ingredients).
I'll have to add more when I try more things from the menu.
It said on the door that they take cash only, but it's temporary. There was plenty of parking since none of the other stores were even open when we went (~10:30pm).

I gotta say, you have to be pretty open-minded to enjoy this place. The menu is extensive and has a multitude of drinks with exotic jellies and unspecified names like "Have a nice day." I ordered that one and it had club soda, tadpoles (??), some other kinds of jelly, and the rest of the drink was a creamy texture (I'm not Asian enough to really know =( ). My bf got the Ovaltine shake which was yummy and had some Whoppers on top, yay. I ordered the sausage wrapped in bacon as a snack, which are basically two of my favorite foods ever because I love meat way too much. The meat was drizzled with honey which was an interesting touch; I can't say it was bad.
I guess this is one of those places you can come back to numerous times and always order something different. I'd be willing to come back again but the drinks and desserts didn't interest me that much, personally. Also, the service was incredibly slow even though the cafe was nearly empty when I went there. However, this place has reasonable prices. Most of the drinks are under four dollars which isn't too bad since they are pretty ...interesting.
Oh yeah, and from what I remember they accept credit cards if your bill is over $20.
3.5 Stars.
I came here last night on a recommendation from my cousin. The place is a bit tacky with it's bright yellow tables and colorful seating. I was a bit confused as to how I was suppose to order since all the workers were behind the counter. I was thinking you were suppose to order at the counter and then grab a seat but then I saw one of the waiters come out bringing the tab to one of the tables. In the end, I found out this place is a seat yourself type of thing and someone will come around to take your order whenever they're not running around serving other tables. Once we got seated we looked through the menu, which had pages of pictures of most of the menu items so that was helpful. After looking at the menu for a good 5 mins or so we decided on egg puffs and mango gi gi with black pearl barley. The egg puffs came out on a small metal cooling rack. The puffs were crispy and lite in taste. The bf thought it was a bit too sweet but I thought it was fine. They weren't the best I've had but one of the better egg puffs I've eaten at these HK dessert places. Most of the time the batter is too sweet and the end product is way too soggy. But here, they make it pretty darn good. As for the mango gi gi with barley, that was a cold dessert. It was very yummy! The dessert was topped with mango chunks and had the round, clear tapioca balls in it along with the black pearl barley. Their desserts are good but there's nothing outstanding about them.
The staff is friendly here but our waiter didn't seem to be confident with his English so when we asked him questions, he just smiled at us lol Oh, this place does accept credit cards (MC and Visa) but their machines aren't working yet so for now it's a cash only place. I'd come back here to try their other menu items.

I went there last wk after lunch. Ordered the "Thick Toast" and "Black Sesame". The "Thick Toast" was not good at all. I know it was only $2, but it was bad. I will go to the Tea Station in Newark for the "Thick Toast". The "Black Sesame" is so so. The waiter (Korean) was nice, so I give them 1 star for the waiter and another star for the roominess of the place. But the food is so so.

i heard about this place from my sister, and tried it a few days later. i went w/my friend on a weekday, midday, so there weren't that many people in there. service was quick. the server was really nice, and i think he was really bored, so he was nice enough to explain all those ingredients. we were an indecisive dyad, and he didn't seem to mind.
in the end, we got the potstickers, salt & pepper radish cakes, ice cream w/waffles, and mango w/black rice (a hot dessert). so the pot stickers were really good, if not a bit oily. the radish things were good, too, but the breading on it was a little excessive on the corners. it tasted good, though, and complimented all the sweet things. the waffles were SUPER hard, i don't know if they were old or what. and the mango w/black rice was good.
the reason i give it 4 stars is because we got a free parfait w/green tea ice cream, mango, peach ice cream and redbean (oh my!) you see, the server made a mistake, but didn't want his boss to find out, so he kept saying, "shhh!!!" while he shoved the parfait on our table. we were confused at first, but ended up eating the thing. we must've looked like pigs with 3 desserts and 2 salty dishes.
plenty of parking, clean, and good dessert options. will definitely be back to try all their other stuff.

We found this place randomly, but ended up really liking it! Cute decor, plenty of tables, and very extensive menu. I especially liked my osmanthus flower/lychee drink. I will definitely come back here.
the egg puffs (kai dan chai/gi dan zai) does not taste like egg puffs (there's something odd about their batter); the red bean ice does not have enough red bean in it (and they make it with coconut milk -- which they should specify on their menu); and the mango in their THAI style mango sticky rice was extremely sour and the sticky rice was soggy because there's too much sauce!! when we made suggestions to the owner, she was too busy defending her desserts that i don't think she heard us at all. we suggested that they should have separated the sauce from the sticky rice (main reason why it's all soggy). she told us that's because she's making it "HK style." BUT THE MENU CLEARLY WROTE "THAI STYLE MANGO STICKY RICE." *THAI!* ergh. then she has the guts to tell me that she got the egg puffs recipe from "the most famous store in HK." if there's one thing that i'm confident about, it's my palates and experience with food ok? their egg puffs just taste like a waffle made in the shape of egg puffs! (maybe they used the wrong batter?) i'd really like to know which "famous store" in HK she got the recipe from!
definitely not going back there.
P.S. staff may be bilingual. but if there's one language they're fluent in, it's NOT English.
