This was my first time eating @ 35th St. Red Hots and I cant say I was blown away. I had the hot dog and fries which was okay but definitely nothing to write home about. At first glance the portion size seemed really small but it was filling and for $3.50 I guess it was an ok size.
The hot dog wasn't that tasty and the fries seemed to be slightly under cooked. Plus the fries were stuck together and to the hot dog.
Wasn't a horrible experience but I probably will never eat there again. -

I've never eaten at Red Hots, but parking here for White Sox games in their lot is is only (yea, only!) $20 versus the stadium lot at $25. It is a short walk to the ticket gates, just point your nose under the underpass.

I could really care less about the hot dogs and french fries here. It's not that they're not good it's just there's really no reason I would ever get them since I've had the fried shrimp!
The fried shrimp are gorgeous! I will get a half a pound if it's just me and a pound if I'm sharing. The shrimp are large, lightly breaded and cooked to perfection. They are peeled, deveined AND detailed! You couldn't possibly ask for more. Although ... I could ask for a little better cocktail/dipping sauce. The sauce they give is just okay (I get the spicy) but I could imagine a lot of better things to go with them.
Hot Dogs and fries are decent but I I prefer other places in the neighborhood. -

Sad little grayish pink, limp little wee wee wiener, sparsely dressed in like four chopped onion cubes and a weak smear of mustard on a crumbling bun.
No charring dogs? Boo - that's the only thing that whoulda saved it, too.
If you are at all lucky, your gag reflex will kick in and save you from finishing it - worked for me!
I gave the rest of mine to the nearest handy White Sox fan, who probably thought it tasted like a fancy unicorn snout dog from Hot Doug's or something, since this place is directly in the shadow of - U.S. Cellul- ummm...Comis--uuhh...where the Sox play their baseball, so he was happy with it. Which brought me some momentary joy - Live it up, baby!
But the fries are fresh cut, skin-on, cheap fun perfection.
This junk is all cheap and cash only. Tastes like it, too. -

I work across the street from a heart attack.
A cheap one at that.
Though I know it is sacrilege to write a review for a hot dog stand without tasting their dogs - I have had their fries and been in the presence of wiener consumers too many times to doubt my assessment.
I don't eat fast food much - but this is my exception. They cut their potatoes in front of your eyes in the most intriguing of contraptions. The workers are super friendly and delightful locals. And the fries are $1.75. Perfect.
Five star status? Only, if they let me bring in sweet potatoes. -

The proximity of this hot dog stand to Comiskey is undeniably excellent. I like stopping here for a dog and a drink on my way from Halsted to the stadium for a game. There's also game day parking here for $2 cheaper than the Sox lots, so why not? Warning: they double park cars, so sometimes you have to wait for someone to drive away so you can get your car.
Anyway, back to the food. It's good food and cheap, so you can't really go wrong. The menu is really, really small. They pretty much sell hot dogs, fries and Italian ice. If you're looking for beef or anything else complicated, go down the street to O'Malley's. The fries are hand cut right in the shop (you can watch) and they're always served piping hot.
There's a few seats available, but it's mostly take and go on game days. If you work across the street at TAMS (which I did for about five months), you'll be here everyday because the pop is cheap and the food is tasty.Listed in: Encased Meats

Ok, hot dog and polish sausage lovers, you're walking east on 35th Street toward Comiskular Park after drinking a bunch of Delirium at Puffer's and you're starving. And you realize that if you want any food and drink at the park that you're going to pay dearly for it. You want a dog or a Polish Sausage before the game? Stop at 35th Street Red Hots hot dog shack. I believe all they have on the menu are hot dogs and polishes, and maybe an iced cream sannich. Hard to tell after a few Deliriums. I took a picture and will post it later.
No, it isn't Maxwell Street nor is it Henry's, but it is damn satisfying before watching the game. And yes, they serve their dogs Chicago style, and yes, the fries are served on top of the Polishes....only way to eat a Polish! -

I love me some soggy fries....and oh yes this place shows me greasey love.
The menu is short and sweet, a hot dog/double dog and fries. I don't remember there being a polish option, but I'll check on that.
They wrap your hot dog and fires togther so that they can now bring you a delightful experience in eating in unity. Sitting nicely atop the dog just increases the sog factor in which I dig so much.
Good stuff, just make sure you have cash...I don't think they take credit. -

$2.15 cents (approximately) gets you a made in front of your eyes Vienna Beef dog and hand cut fries, rolled together in one waxed paper, artery clogging, bundle of love. Coke - not Pepsi - within 3 minutes of Comiskey, so you can get your non-icky soda fix in before or after the game without too much effort. Bonus - free entertainment. Watch hapless out of town fans desperately try to score a cab after the game. Highly entertaining.
Good fried shrimp, too, if you have $13 to spare.
Sure, it's a shack, but patronize this place without fear. This is where Comiskey vendors and Chicago's Finest eat after the game. Good, honest, delicious, Chicago eats. It's a classic. -

One of the few times I've randomly stopped into a location without researching beforehand, but I was feeling adventurous and decided to try a double dog with fries (ordered them well-done, like most good fries should be cooked), since the price seemed alright.
What I got was kind of a shocker to me. I can understand that grease + grease = more tastiness, but throwing the dog and fries in the same paper wrap just puzzles me. I'm not a neurotic or obsessive-compulsive who can't have food items touching, but when bagging food for take-out, one should really consider the logistics of the equation.
When I arrived home, I discovered one paper wrap. I worried that they had simply forgotten my fries, but opened the wrapper to discover that they were in there - mangled with the double dog. There were hot dog condiments in my fries and french fry salt all over my hot dog bun. It was disappointing.
The double dog itself was average. Nothing spectacular, and it tasted like something I could make at home with a discount package of hot dog buns and dumping a package of dogs in some boiling water. The fries were pretty good, other than being slathered in the mustard, onion and relish from my hot dog.
If I ever wind up there again on a long walk and decide another attempt, I'll ask them to wrap them separately. And if they raise an eyebrow or make a stink about it - it'll be the last time I journey inside, wriggling past the guy hocking Sox merchandise practically blocking the entrance.
(Oh, and I'm completely aware that it's a hot dog joint, but most hot dog joints have the decency to also make burgers - though I'm not penalizing them for their decision.) -

Fresh cut fries! Vienna beef dogs! Everything = Mustard, Onion, Relish & Sport Peppers (notice the lack of ketchup in that list ... the way it should be, well unless you're 5) ... what more do ya need? -

The fact that they have fresh cut fries should be enough reason to go! Every time I go, I want to use the fry cutter. They're hot dogs are delicious, although I wish they had tomatoes. What I love/hate is that they wrap the hot dog with the fries in an easy to carry roll... except sometimes the mustard gets on the fries and it grosses me out, but I still eat them.
What I especially love about Red Hots is that they priced their items so everything comes to a nice even dollar or $0.50 after tax... seriously smart -

Closest Hot Dog stand to the Home of the 2008 American League Central Champion White Sox. Also home of the closest non-sox parking lot as well.
Used to be open only during the season, but is now open year roud(YAY!)
Dogs are of the Vienna persuasion, and the fries are fresh cut potatoes that are oh so yummy.
Very moderately priced, especially considering that they are a mere 2 blocks from a stadium that charges $3.25 for a substandard ball park frank.
Food's great to bring into games(yes, you CAN bring in food and bottled water into Comiskey Park), but good enough for that off day when you're in the neighborhood.
BTW, no credit cards, but there is an ATM on site. -

I love their hot dogs! The fancies can keep Hot Doug's, I'll take 35th Street Red Hots every time.
They only have 4 or 5 things on the menu: hot dogs, polish... but you get free fresh-cut fries with every order. It's cheap, quick and good and the fountain drinks are nice and big too.
I stop in here for lunch with my girlfriend in the summer and we sit at the picnic tables out front. Great people watching opportunity. -

This place might look small and yes they only serve Hot Dogs and Fried Shrimp and amazingly french fries hot out of the fryer, but it is very good food! They somehow make great hot dogs, fries and amazing Fried Shrimp. I like the mild sauce that comes with the fried shrimp, it's breaded lightly and you can taste the nice size shrimp!

This place has great fries. They cut the potatoes on site and immediately cook them, etc. Then they stuff them in with the hotdog which rocks. I also love the fact that the hot dogs have that all important "snap" when you bite into them. This is a must for a hot dog fan. (Also, they do a great fried shrimp basket)
Anyway, great place with good cheap road dogs. no complaints. -

I stopped in here on a whim and I have to say I was disappointed. Normally I love places that have streamlined the menu into just three or four items. I certainly don't need fancy to help me enjoy my meal either. What I do need is a hot dog or polish that is actually warm and not soggy to the point where the meat has become almost gooey in texture. Unfortunately that is what I got at 35th street red hots. Before today I can't recall the last time I ordered a hot dog someplace that I couldn't finish because it was so unappealing in texture, flavor, and temperature. Frankly it was disgusting.

This place is only in business because it is so close to Sox Park. My dog had mustard, relish, and onion. That's it. Sure I got fries with it, but because I went before a game and therefore was packed, I couldn't get any ketchup for them. And don't just order a side of fries with no hot dog. My wife is a veg head and just wanted some fried potatoes but I guess that mucked up their whole assembly line production, added confusion, and caused the cashier to get annoyed and visibly upset with us. If you want a Chicago hot dog walk a few blocks west to O'Malley's. If you want something less then join the many others who have chosen convenience over quality.

Only a Cub Fan would say anything bad about this place. LOL Just kidding, had to throw my 1 dig into you guys/Gals. Seriously though, Fresh Cut Fries (Great Flavor), Hot dogs and fries all wrapped together to get all the flavor in there MMMMMMMM! You probably wont want to come here if you want a Fancier place with nice sit down area and beer etc though. They are about Hot dogs and Fries and they are cheaply priced and Very good at what they do! Just a very short walk from the ballpark, you wont regret it!
Man..... I have to get there NOW! Good thing Spring Training is starting and soon, i will be there almost 80 times just on game days alone! Ahhhhh. -

Everything I want in a hot dog stand. Natural casing dog with snap and excellent fresh cut fries, there's little more to say. This place saves me going to Gene and Judes or Poochies, reminds me of the hot dog stand at Madison and Central I went to 45 years ago.

As a veggie loving person, Red Hots makes it very hard for me to say no to a hot dog. A must stop before A Sox game. Small, no fuss, outdoor seating to watch the crowds coming in. People complain about a limited menu but I would rather they have a few items and do them all very well than have a 100 and do them poorly. Staff is always friendly and ready to serve. Love the snap of the casing on this dog! Love that other people mention it too! A little onions, a little mustard and a few fries stuck on make this the perfect breakfast pre-ballgame. Cold drink and a dog with fries will run you less than $5. Bargain buys. Can't beat it. Make sure you hit the ATM before coming here too. Cash only.

small menu and limited seating. only have a few menu items, but don't overlook the 1/2 lb of fried shrimp. A double dog means 2 hot dogs in one bun and everything comes with fries stuffed in the bun. Good option for food to take into the cell because of the proximity. right across the street from lot G.

This place is one of the best in the city of Chicago.
A great spot for before White Sox game snacking.
The workers a very friendly, and they tend to move very fast.
There is seating inside along the wall faceing the street, and there are picknik tables outside, ovcourse you would have to share them with other people but thats part of the fun.
It is just a simple walk under the train bridge from U.S. Cellular Field to 35th Street Hot Dogs.
Good food at a good price, I know I'll keep comming here. -

Best fries I've ever had. They use a natural casing vienna hot dog which was fine but I couldn't get over the fresh cut fries. This is a must stop for all you potato heads
