Not the best. Not the worse. Service isn't good unless you're dressed up.. taxis are a buck on tuesday which is rad, but really when i think about it, id rather go somewhere else and get a bomb taco for a little more.

I ordered a kobe steak which was cooked perfectly. However, they dropped the small steak right in the middle of some mashed potatoes on a large plate, but there was nothing else. I picked the steak up off the potatoes, and there was no gravy or sauce. I asked if I get gravy with my potatoes, and the waiter went back and asked. She came back to tell me it is ordered per plate, would I like to order some. No thanks. Mashed potatoes don't merit gravy there I guess, or you have to specifically order it.

On such a large plate they didn't have to put the steak on the potatoes, and it would have been nice to have some kind of vegetable, squash, cabbage, etc. It would have looked like they were trying anyway. Do some people eat there steak mixed with mashed potatoes? I have never seen it before. Cut the steak and squish the potatoes out from under it? The steak was around $29.

Nothing wow about this place. I used to go to the old Italian place, I think it was called Gina Marie's, back in the day, and it is gone now, so I thought I would go here. After paying the tab, I missed Gina Maries even more than when I first walked in there.

I've been here several times, and every time I leave I ask myself, "why did I just go to 33?"
The drinks are a little overpriced compared to other places in downtown Chico - they do have drink special from time to time but I'm usually not in the mood to drink a big kid kool-aid. Too sweet for me.

What is really prompting this poor review is the experience I had here last Friday night. There were 6 of us and we chose to eat at 33 because it was the only place empty enough to fit 6 people. The waitress was friendly but she had to read us the specials and acted as if she didn't really know what she was doing....maybe she was new...who knows.

We ordered 2 pitchers of beer and waited patiently for our food...4 of us ordered the same thing, a hamburger. When our food came out it seemed that the waitress forgot one of the hamburgers...she said she would go back in the kitchen and that it shouldn't take too long....well, we were all nearly done with our food by the time the last meal came out. She didn't apologize for the wait or inconvenience. Not only was it inconvenient but the food wasn't even that good. The hamburger bun was so basic and there was nothing on the burger! Also, if 4 people order hamburgers it would be nice to get a bottle of ketchup rather than to get a tablespoon of ketchup per person in a silver cup. LAME

To top it all off, all 4 people who ate the hamburgers were sick that night. Great way to spend my Friday. Thanks 33, I won't be returning.

By Chico standards, this is definitely a 5-star joint...but I'm a CITAAAAY girl now, so I will have to bestow 4 stars upon my dear friend, 33.

33's is a great little place to grab a (cheap! $6!) delicious martini after work, or on the weekends. At night, they often have live jazz bands.

They have an entire menu of specialty martinis (about 50), but I always start my night at 33's with a dirty gin martini (extra olives) and round it out with the Babe Ruth-hands down the tastiest chocolate martini around.

And Blondie's No bar and Grill take note- the lovely ladies and gents at 33s would never substitute my olives for spicy green beans. NEVER.

Cool place for a steak and martini.

The staff took good care of our group of 10. Food was prompt service was very friendly, they kept the drinks coming.

The live music really added to the experience. Not a bad steak house

I've been to this place a handful of times and am not quite sure what kind of crowd they are attempting to attract. A very trendy-looking place and on most nights I've been, there is usually only a handful of people and half of them are employees. Their drink prices are a little steep for Chico, hence the 3 stars. If you find yourself downtown on a Saturday night and don't want to wait in line for LaSalles, use this place as a last resort.

I know.... it seems like I only go to semi good places in town...
Well... there are quite a few...
33 Steaks Booze and Jazz qualifies as one of those places
    although...
    I must say...
We went there for my son's birthday tonight and as we were leaving..
    all he could say was....
"This was pretty good for a cougar bar...."

    So... you get the picture...

    We had drinks.
    It was a birthday celebaration
My son had the "Chicago Blues"... vodka, blue curacao....stuff... I made him order Bombay Saphirre
His SO Kate *the sweetest thing*  had an "Incredible Hulk"
Stormy and I had martinis... hers "grey goose" dirty ....mine "Kettle One"
and you know... we all enjoyed our favs...
33 Steaks Booze and Jazz has this FULL martini menu... which is so pretentious...sorry but it is....
but they have always maintained a quality bar... that is as true as the pretentious menu part...
My son had the Pepper Steak... he always orders it too cooked...
His SO ...Kate had the Cordon Bleu... just loves the dish... period
and Stormy and I split the Steak Diane...
    All three were a hit.
To top this off... My son got the birthday desert
a Fried Snicker thing  ( I gotta admit... it was tasty)
    We had a nice dinner

For Stormy..... the acoustics were good... but...we've always loved this room... even since its Gina Marie's days...
We've been here a few times
Nothing spectacular... but a constant pleaser...

Drink prices were good. Have eaten here in the past and the food was good as well. I like his bar because it is a little upscale compared to most placesin Chico.

We walked into the restaurant a few minutes before our reservation, we were ignored for about five minutes, before the hostess came over to seat us. The live jazz piano added to the ambiance. The table we were seated at was extremely small, and it felt like every time you moved you would have knocked something off of it. The place was rather dead for a Friday night, especially before Valentine's Day...
We start to look over our menus, and a waiter came over and poured us our water. Our waitress seemed like something out of a horror movie. She took our drink order, ten minutes later she walked by us, and said she would have our drinks out to us in just a minute, and another ten minutes went by, at long last our drinks came.
She then proceeded to take our order. We decided to start off with their West Coast Crab Cakes. They were excellent, but the chipotle pepper aioli ended up over powering the flavor of the crab. The clam chowder that came before our entrees started off good. After a few bites however, the black pepper was all that you could taste.
My date ordered the Pepper Steak. It was good, but it was not cooked the way he asked for it, and it had a lot of gristle. My Chicken Cordon Bleu on the other hand, was horrible. It was over cooked, dry, and flavorless. The Straw Fries that we ordered with our entrees on the other hand, were excellent, they were cooked and seasoned perfectly. This was the one upside to the meal at 33.
I ended up sending my Chicken Cordon Bleu back; it was so horrible that it ruined my appetite, but in order to try to save our evening, I decided to get something small off of the appetizer menu. I decided to get the plate of Calamari. It started off good. The Thai chili pepper aioli, like the aioli that came with the crab cakes, over powered the Calamari. I asked our waitress to bring me some lemon; she comes back with lemon rounds. How can you squeeze lemon rounds on to anything? As my date and I are eating the Calamari, it all of a sudden gets really salty, to the point where neither one of us could eat it. As I am looking at the half eaten plate of Calamari in front of us, I notice that there are little pieces of potatoes under the Calamari. That's right, they did the worst thing that any restaurant could do, they cooked fish and potatoes in the same oil. After seeing that, my evening was ruined. Cooking anything in the same oil as fish is a major faux pas. It causes cross contamination, and can make someone very sick.
Our waitress never got better. She was slow, forgetful, and it seemed like we were an imposition on her. As I said, the one redeeming grace of this place, was the live Jazz music, from the piano. It was nice and very entertaining to have the live music in the back ground.
Because this meal was so horrible, I decided to call the management the next day. I told the manager that I spoke with, all that was wrong with our meal the previous night. All the manager said was that he was sorry, and thank you for letting him know. He offered nothing to make it better.
Because of that, I decided to contact the owner, a Mr. Tyler Cooke. He told me that he had a degree from The Cordon Bleu Academy, and that he had over 20 years experience in the food industry. I decided to do a little research on that. I discovered that he is 25 years old (so how can he have 20 years experience in the industry?) And that he graduated from Chico State Culinary Institute (which is not The Cordon Bleu Academy.) He did not seem to care that the fish and the potatoes were cooked in the same oil; and that it could make someone deathly sick by doing that, and if that happened he could get sued. But alas he offered nothing to try to make the evening better. He did not even seem to care that it was one of the most horrible experiences that I have ever personally had in a restaurant.
Nothing was done by the management or the owner to try to make it better. I will never eat here again, and I will not recomend it to anyone.

What happend to this place? It used to be such a swanky hip place to eat! Well my boyfriend got a drink, 1 appetizer, entree and 1 desert. Our bill was 99$ My jaw dropped! The steak tasted like I could have gotten it at Dennys! The mashed potatoes where so plain it had no flavor. Besides the expensive price and the anoying drunks next door at the connectiong bar, the lighting was awful bright and blinding. Never go here to eat but if you want a nice cocktails for 10$ and up go ahead.

I have had some awesome nights here. Martinis that aren't that expensive, some really awesome jazz, a nice atmosphere, and they used to have the prettiest cocktail waitress I have ever seen. One of Chico's finest attractions, especially if the Dave Elke Trio is playing.

Great environment to relax and have one of their amazing martinis! I really like the new lounge! It is a good place to go to escape the college crowd and still enjoy your evening. They will let you keep a card there to track which ones you have tried and it is rumored that once you have tried them all you can create your own and name it for their menu. I am nowhere close to that, but it sounds fun.

SOMEHOW, THIS GOT DELETED WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE, PROB THE OWNER!! SO IM REPOSTING! I would be surprised if 33 was still in business by 2010. Soooo..I went to 33 for the 1st time in over a year to try it out since I was in the area and had a $10 off coupon. I was with my 11 mos old baby and 12 year old daughter. The owner Tyler's first words to me were, "What can I help you with?" I said, "Um 3. Can we eat?" That was definitely a bad first impression..well, i had left my atm card at home but didnt realize till after we ordered. I checked my wallet and found a VISA gift card with a $25 balance and also had checks. Well turns out that the coupon could only be used with an entree that was priced over $20...U KNOW A BUSINESS IS HURTING IF THEY ARE PUTTING OUT COUPONS ANYWAY...so the bill was $29. I gave the waiter...who was supernice by the way..the coupon and visa gift card bfore knowing they wouldnt accept the coupon so since the amt was over $25, naturally the card was declined. I tried to reason with the owner of the stupid restaurant over the $4 and asked him if he would either accept the coupon just this once OR accept my check..APPARENTLY HE WOULD RATHER TRY TO ARREST ME AND ASSAULT ME IN FRONT OF MY CHILDREN..he tried to restrain me in the booth and when i tried to get up he put me in a chokehold, almost punching my baby in the process..this is a 6 ft 190 lb owner of a restaurant that put a 5'2 125 lb girl in a chokehold over $4?? 10 buks says "you'll be impressed" doubtful...inneresting to see where he will be when his restaurant goes under and for someone who already has a BAD REPUTATION AS IT IS! DONT EAT HERE OR DRINK!! There are soooo many other places to spend your hard earned money!!
