This place is dangerous.
If you are any sort of audiophile, 32ohm is your candy shop. They offer a staggering array of unique high-end equipment designed for personal listening (headphones), small speakers, portable audio amplifiers and the like. From sweet tube amps for your iPod to hand-made cables to wireless bamboo speakers... I could literally drop quite a few grand in this store, easy, and still not come out with everything I want.
I stopped in here to pick up a set of headphones with mic for my iPhone and barely made it out with my credit score in tact. I told the gentleman who was working the counter what I was looking for and he made a surgically accurate recommendation and offered for me to sample the wares. I plugged the buds into my iPhone and I was immediately sold. He made sure to offer me some competing choices but it didn't take much discussion for the two of us to conclude that his initial instincts were correct.
I did start to browse the gorgeous wares scattered around the store but had to catch myself before I got to smitten. Even a slight glance at a set of wireless bamboo bookshelf speakers had me reaching for my wallet. Like I have that kind of discretionary income to spend! Ha!
I was super impressed by the fun selection of high-end specialty gear here and just as happy with the service I received during my visit. I know I'll be back when it's time to buy my friends (or maybe myself) a special gift or two.
I love local stores like this. Amazing.
Oh, and I went home and checked http://Amazon.com for the pricing on the headphones I bought. The Amazon sale price was only $3 less than what I paid in this store. I'll pay that extra $3 to shop local any day.Listed in: Greater than 5 stars, Inner-SE PDX, Shopping, Division, Portland Dangerous

My first experience with this place was excellent. After having my earbuds chewed up by my cat, this store came up on yelp as somewhere I could find a replacement pair. And I did; for $18 I walked out with an excellent pair of SoundMagic earbuds.
Sadly, the cat doesn't get the concept of personal property, and ate those a few months later. I came in last summer to replace those, but couldn't find the same pair on the shelf. When I asked the clerk if they carried those anymore or had some coming soon, he scoffed and said "We're really trying to move away from consumer electronics and concentrate on building cables."
So now you have to make an appointment with them and be looking to buy some real high-end cables. So, if you want that, go for it. But, from my perspective, we've lost a really good audio products boutique. -

You have to make an appointment to buy anything even if you know what you want. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere where the people are friendly and willing to help. I was planning on spending 500+ on an amp but I'll take my cash elsewhere for black Friday shopping. Also the hours of operation on here are incorrect. I really don't understand how some people operate a business on the model of "we have the very best products so you will shop when we say you can shop." I'll let my other audiofile friends know so they don't waste their time as well.

One of the finest aural sensations around PDX, and quite possibly the world. A boutique headphones shop! Near a small vintage district and Apizza Scholls nestled in teak woods, hippies and hipsters is 32 Ohm.
After scavenging Amazon for the best deals, I began to wonder if the reviews on that site weren't a little convoluted. Was I really going to buy headphones to fill my ears without listening? Not anymore baby! Not with inward singing! I mean, er... anyway, they let you try on just about every pair of high level ear wear in the space. A nice pair of "cans" range anywhere from $100 bucks up to $1,000 or more.
I'm more of a visual guy, why I love Audio I can't seem to pick it's nuances to the audiophile's level. I appreciate good sound and can definitely distinguish between the bottom rung and mid level in performance. Beyond that it seems like a universe of diminished returns. After about $200 bucks I can't really hear the difference anymore. Sure, there's a little depth hear and in the pursuit of perfection more clarity or sound stage, but is it really worth more money?
That's the beauty of 32 Ohm, you can hear with your own equipment what you like and don't like. Bring an iPod, plug it in and have some fun. -

Very helpful customer service. I was able to spend as long as wanted testing headphones before buying. Great selection of quality stuff.

if you have an audio addiction, this place is THE fix.
i wish i'd grown up in the days of vinyl, but for us digital-agers it's not quite as economical. that said, digital music can still provide as rich an experience as analog, so long as you do it right.
32 ohm audio caters to the digital crowd, using your mp3 player, computer, even your phone, as a music source. a QUALITY music source.
as an audiophile, it physically pains me to see people who spent hundreds of dollars on an ipod using crappy headphones. hardware is extremely important in a quality music experience, and this shop provides all the right tools to give you multiple eargasms at a very decent price.
they carry anything you'll need to step up your listening setup. from portable and tube headphone amps to their house made cables and wooden ipod docks, everything is ready to test in-shop. i could sit for hours at the headphone listening wall.
the staff are extremely knowledgeable and sincere, and are truly dedicated to helping you improve your listening experience. they also won't make you feel bad if you can't tell an amp from a dac.
i know this review makes me sound pretty ridiculous, and i suppose i am. but i've always believed that music deserves to be heard at its best - through quality equipment. to sum up, 32 ohm audio will make the audiophile jump for joy. and perhaps even more importantly, it will turn the average listener into a hi-fi enthusiast.
i triple-dog-dare you to take an hour or two, bring your ipod, and spend some leisure time here. you absolutely will not regret it. -

I have been a frustrated ear bud shopper for many years. I have purchased expensive and inexpensive ear buds not knowing what I was getting until I cut into that ridiculous packaging and tried them out. What a bummer - no one was willing to let me try before I buy no matter what the price - ridiculous!
32Ohm is amazing - they have every headphone and ear bud available for sampling, with iPods you hook up to at their listening station or you can just bring in your own. Their selection is expansive, with brands you have never heard of before but want to know about. Trust me - you need to shop here for your listening pleasure. -

I am not an "audiophile" but I wanted to benefit from the store's expertise in looking for my next earbuds. The staff there was very helpful in pinpointing the right earbud in my price range for my needs. Best of all, you can TRY THEM! Great store.
