We love this place. When the wife and I find ourselves with a kid free night we usually atleast consider going here. The food is above average, the portions are rather generous, the waiters are very friendly, and if you arnt happy with something, just tell them and they'll make it right. I have never left 316 unhappy or on an epty stomach. The T-Shirt challenges are a cake walk if you can handle a huge wad of horse raddish (tip: take one or two bites, take huge drink, swallow) I've got 4 or 5 shirts in the closet from this place. Being from Florida, I'm a huge fan of laid back sea food joints. The food isnt on par with what I was used to getting back home, but that doesnt mean it isnt still damn good. You can dress up and go here, or walk in wearing shorts and a tshirt. Either way you'll be eating well.

The beer selection is on par with an Outback or Applebees, not an overwhelming selection, but good enough to offer something for everyone. The hushpuppies are a great break from the normal chips/salsa or breadsticks.

I don't see what the fuss is about. It's not bad, by any means, but I heard nothing but good about this place from the locals and associates that had been there before. It's an average seafood restaurant with a different decor from the norm and average food. The challenge for the T-shirt is a joke. I guess for the novelty it's fine, but a two year old could pass it.

I did the steampot combo. As close to the coast (a little over an hour) as the restaurant is. I expected more fresh seafood. I saw that they were using frozen oysters the night I was there. Like I said, the place isn't bad, but it isn't great either.

This place was good, but not the best. I had a seafood combo plate. Generous portions. The flounder and calamari were great. It is hard to mess up fried food though. The meal comes with 2 sides and a salad. You will not leave hungry. The oysters were just OK. They were large, however they were not the best I've had. The oysters were also a little on the expensive side. The service was excellent. We sat at the bar. The oyster guy multitasked and handled the customers quickly. (The folks next to me returned their crab legs because they were bad) The owner came by and apologized and agreed that those were a bad batch. I then saw them throwing out what appeared to be tons of out dated crab legs. At least they tried to correct the problem for the 2 customers and comped it on their bill.

From Maine to Hawaii and everywhere between, this is my hands down favorite oyster bar and honestly, they shouldn't be this good in Fayetteville but they are.  My husband had blackened tilapia and loved it an he does not even like seafood and would never put an oyster in his mouth...On the other hand, I totally enjoyed my 1/2 peck of oysters which came with two sides and a tossed salad.   All of that and it was still less than $20.00 per person.   The oyster shuckers are humorous, intelligent and most accommodating.    The entire restaurant is very clean, nicely appointed and even the owner gave my husband directions home. Everybody is very friendly.  I highly recommend this wonderful place.  I have been here numerous times and I have never been disappointed except that I can't eat more.

Another place I was looking forward to that I ended up being disappointed by. I ordered from the raw bar, but I could tell that it was frozen and I suppose I shouldn't have assumed it was more fresh since we're less than two hours from the ocean.

A little bit too much of a rubbery texture to the oysters. It needed hot sauce to be palatable, the stench was a little overpowering too.

The only appeals to this place were the allure of alligator bites, which are like eating deep fried car tires. And the free t-shirt challenge, which is actually easy to defeat.

The decor was some kind of atlantic city meets silver diner? Terrible.

Plenty of locals love this place though.

Just got home from this place and it was amazing. The server, Preston, was excellent. If I ever go back, I'm gonna request him.
I did the Rooster challenge...WOW! I would suggest it to anyone who needs their sinus' cleaned out. The aligator bites and calimari were great starters. The steamer combo #1 was great and everything tasted very fresh. My sister said her steak was perfectly cooked and tender. This place is a must. Oh and their beer selection was impressive.

I finally got to try this place on new years and let me tell you i had high expectations. To start off with telling you about the interior decor which was a nice 70's feel meets sports bar. I loved the inside it was great for a date night and they played all old school r &b music from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. The lighting was really nice too. To start off with the appetizer which is a light non greasy fried hushpuppy that is accompanied with prepackaged honey butter. I loved the hush puppies, they were fresh, not greasy at all and light option opposed to heavy dinner rolls. My only qualm was that they didn't have homemade honey butter rather than the prepackaged butter they include with your basket. For my entree i ordered a combination plate that had fried scallops and fried popcorn shrimp and for my side i had french fries. As far as my scallops go they were perfectly cooked, they were very juicy and very fresh. however they had no seasoning, they seemed to just batter it in a non seasoned flour mixture and fry it. Now as far as my shrimp goes it was very fresh as well but once again they were not seasoned in the least just flour battered, in fact the batter was not a favorite i was hoping for a more smoother thicker batter. the french fries were average and they weren't even salted. i can say that the only highlight of my meal was the hushpuppies and my cute waiter lol.

All I can say is yum! Hushpuppies are the bread served here with honey butter, be careful they are poppable like popcorn you will fill up! For apps we had jalapeño shrimp it was deep fried wrapped in bacon it was good but I think it would be better not fried. Also buffalo oysters those are like wings but oysters...very good. For dinner I had the deviled crab broiled. It was like little crab cakes in crab shells! My hubby had the combo of oysters, calamari, and catfish-fried. That's too much fried for me but it was all good. He also got French fries  which were cooked perfect! I can't forget also we both did the rooster challenge. The oysters were HOT! I thought it looked like an easy challenge but the horseradish packed a punch! We both earned out t-shirts!

Well, I used to go here for years when I lived in the area. But have been gone a long time.

A buddy who is still in was in the area as was I, and I suggested this place... Would it still be the same? .... Yes.

Let's face it. There are not a ton of fantastic places to eat the Fayetteville area. I mean... this isn't sophistication-central. But this a good restaurant.

Now, there are a lot of fried entrees. If you are watching the grease, are from northern California, and think hushpuppies are a kind of dog or shoe, maybe this is not your place. This is southern seafood folks. Take it or leave it.

I'll take it. Portion are a good size, flavors are solid. Try the blackened for some spice.  If you want a fun night, and rough next day - do some shooters... You only live once folks!

In all honesty this is a great Fayetteville establishment, with some very good local southern cooking. Happy to see it has not changed much.

Thoroughly unimpressed.  I had a couple pints of beer and the Rooster challenge to start.  My friend had the same however the beer he order smelled and tasted absolutely fowl.  The Roosters were eh.  Honestly we mostly just had them for the free shirt.  I had the Clam Chowder and the Gator bites.   The Clam Chowder tasted a lot like Campbells soup.  The Gator bites were alright but I have never had gator before so I had nothing to compare it to.  I also tried one of my friend's Deviled Crabs.  Again it was eh.  The hush puppies were great though.  Some of the best I've ever had.  All in all this place was nothing to write home about and I will not get my seafood fix from here ever.

very light, fun and thematic atmosphere! A refreshing break from the dozens of chain restaurants in Fayetteville.

Oysters were great, had blackened snapper and it was EXCELLENT.

Not a dressy place whatsoever just down home fun. The wait staff was very pleasant and helpful.

    I did the Rooster!

Aside from the fact this is the ONLY oyster bar in town, it's one of the best I've visited (and that's a big number, buddy).  Bring a friend and get a "peck and a pound" and enjoy four sides that include salad, corn on the cob, slaw (no, this is really good slaw), and fries.  Like it hot?  Step up to the oyster bar and try a rooster shooter (I assume no liability for anything catching fire).  The regular menu is exceptional (the blackened salmon is great).  The drinks are well made and affordable.  All the seafood is fresh (trucked in from the coast daily). and the service is usually perfect.  If you're there Friday at 5:00, you may be too late to be seated soon.  TIP:  Later could be faster here.
Maybe the best thing is that the manager actually roams the restaurant asking for your opinions AND HE MEANS IT!!!  These folks own several sites and know seafood and customer service.

This is our favorite seafood restaurant in town. We ordered the blackend salmon which was delicious, and the oysters were great as well.

The atmosphere is very laid back, and customer service is great.

They have one spicy oyster food competition for a free t-shirt (eat three roosters), and they have two oyster drinks for a free shot glass. Two of us came home with a free t-shirt, and we had a lot of fun. I liked the cheesy atmosphere and would have like to sit at the oyster bar.  The food was good, but a little expensive.

We were lucky enough to snag two seats at the Oyster Bar which is both convenient and entertaining. The service was wonderful, maybe because we were in close proximity with our server the entire time, but still he was spot on.
Hush puppies are brought out before the meal and this is a dangerous things because they taste like little delicious donuts to top it off they serve it with honey butter, it's like the frosting on top! Mmmmmmmm
We had to start with alligator bites because you just don't get those often enough, they were buffalo flavor which was different, but still good.
The entrees were huge, served with two sides which ended up being more than enough food. I tried the blackened catfish and my husband deviled crab; we were both very pleased.
He also tried the "Rooster Shooters" which are crackers topped with a whole pile of horseradish, jalapeno, raw oyster, hot sauce and black pepper. If you buy and eat three you get a free T-shirt with a huge rooster on it, kinda cheezy but fun!
We are happy to have found this place, despite the not so attractive decor we will definitely be returning for oysters and hush puppies!!!

I can't decide between 3 and 4 stars.  From the outside, it looks like a regular building with neon lights all around the roof, otherwise hidden by the incline of the freeway overpass.  But once inside, it seems so roomy.  On Friday evening, the parking lot was packed, so I hopped out to put our names on the wait list while the rest of the guys parked the car.  We were quoted 45 minutes to an hour wait. We were too hungry to wait, and decided to leave, but when I went to bring back the pager they gave me, the hostess said she could seat us in 5-10 minutes.  We must have come right at the end of their rush, as a lot of people were finishing their meals and leaving.  A few other customers who arrived at the same time we did didn't wait around, but if they came a few minutes later, there was plenty of available seating.  To get seated faster, we chose first available seating, so we got stuck in the smoking room.  Both areas have bar seating and regular restaurant tables and booth seating.  It looked like a 1950's style, like Johnny Rockets red vinyl swivel chairs.

You know how most places start you off with some bread and butter or chips and salsa? Well this place starts you off with hushpuppies, which are these tater-tot-sized fried cornbread that you can dip in their butter honey sauce.  Yumm, I can feel the calories coming on.

As much as the Rooster shooter (raw oyster on a cracker with horseradish sauce and hot sauce) sounds appealing, it seemed too extreme for tonight's appetite.  They must be very hot because if you buy 3 and eat 3, you get the 4th one free.

I went with the fried oyster platter. It came with 2 side dishes. I had the baked potato and broccoli with cheese.  One of my friends had the Rockport oysters (cooked and seasoned) and the blackened salmon pasta.  The salmon was perfectly flakey on the outside, and totally juicy on the inside. My friend almost couldn't finish it all, but after I acclaimed so much about the salmon, he finished it a few minutes later.

It was quite smokey inside.  The service from the busy waitress was spotty good and bad.  There really is no competition from other restaurants in the area, except for maybe Joe's Crab Shack, but I don't think they serve oysters.  This place is definately worth another visit.  316: it's not just the name, it's the address.

We went for my daughter's 10th birthday. We're from the gulf coast and  my whole family are BIG seafood lovers. Even my 2 year old. We had heard so much around town about how good the their food is and she wanted to go so we gave it a try. We ordered many different things off the menu because there were five of us. The only thing that tasted ok was the raw oysters (and you can't mess that up). We will not be returning. The service was good though.
