It's taken me a while to write this review, as I actually had my photos taken last November, 2011, I believe.
Let me start by saying that Mike is easy to work with! I needed a photographer that would work with me as far as getting some personal photos taken for my new fitness website, and he did everything perfectly - my web guy got the photos and literally said, "I got the photos, and they RULE."
I enjoyed my photo session with Mike very much, and he helped make the process very easy and laid back, all while making sure that we accomplished getting the photos that I wanted. The best part is that he was time conscious: he didn't take too long on any one particular pose, and we allocated enough time for each idea. He was also quick in getting my photos back to me, I got the finished photos back 1 week later.
I definitely recommend 312elements, and will be using them again for the next time I need photos! -

I am not a fan of being photographed, but I needed a headshot. Mike was easy to work with before, during and after the session. My friend picked the best proof, Mike touched it up, and everyone likes the pic. Easy and well done.

Mike went far above and beyond what we expected for our daughter's newborn shoot. His chill personality made a slightly chaotic hour totally bearable. We insisted on having him come to our house- which turned out to be a mistake. We don't have great lighting and our rooms are small. At the end of the shoot Mike offered another hour in his studio to ensure we got the photos he thought we should have of our infant daughter- as he said, "This is important." He really cares about his clients and it shows in his work. We were blown away by his ease working with our tiny baby and the pictures are just amazing! We had a hard time picking out just one for our announcement.
I look forward to working with 312 again in the future! -

Mike was quick to respond, schedule and get proofs to me for review. He was easy to work with and provided a lot of insight regarding posing for a professional head shot for business purposes. He is both business savvy and a professional photographer which can be hard to find. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM. He is a professional through and through.

I noticed many other reviews raving about Mike as a headshot photographer, but I want people to know that his area of expertise extends outside of taking professionals' LinkedIn pictures. My boyfriend and I wanted a few fun photos taken together, and Mike definitely delivered. He was very relaxed and flexible the entire shoot, and I appreciated that he was willing to incorporate our own ideas for the photos. We didn't want typical couple-y pictures taken, and I'm happy to say that Mike was more than willing to help us achieve a balance of whimsy and practicality in our photos. Our pictures were e-mailed to us in a short period of time and I was very eager to share the finished product with family and friends. I would definitely use 312 Elements again!

Mike is awesome. I highly recommend him. He's clear, knows his stuff, produces great work, and is easy to work with. He's always been on time, and he's super creative. I've worked with him with some of my clients, and they have all given me great feedback as well. It's nice to trust the referral.

Really great experience getting headshots done here.... I would absolutely recommend anyone needing headshots consider having them done at 312 Elements. As an actor who does primarily stage work, I know how important a headshot can be. It's your calling card, your first impression with casting agents and a bad one can stall your career before it starts. That's why I was so glad that I found Mike. He doesn't just take your picture, he gets to know who you are, what you want in your career and tailors your headshot specifically to you and your needs. His studio is big and homey and he has a way of setting you at ease so that you can relax and take great photos. Plus I love that he lets you preview your shots as you go! I normally dread looking through my headshots, but mine came out so great that I just can't decide! Can't rave enough about 312 Elements. Thanks again Mike!

Product photography, head shots, band promo shots... you name it, Mike can do it. I've had the pleasure of using 312elements for a number of projects and the result is always amazing!

If you are in a band and you need a photographer for live shows/press shots/LP shots, then Mike Schacht is your man! He is able to capture the essence of the performer, and has a gift for utilizing natural light. Awesome to work with! A great hang!

Mike took family pictures for us 8 days ago in Millennium Park. We had such a great experience - he was very laid back with our (young!) kids and got fantastic shots. My four year old is still talking about how much fun she had with "Mr." Mike. His turnaround time far exceeded our expectations - we received the images a week later. We highly recommend 312 Elements!

I HIGHLY recommend Mike with 312 Elements for any of your photography needs! I needed new professional headshots for my business and Mike did a fantastic job, and was a pleasure to work with. It was a really hot and windy day and we took the majority of the photos outside- but Mike kept his cool and we got some great outdoor photos. Plus, he was quick to follow up with lots of photos to choose from and do some basic touch ups, although the photos didn't need much! Thanks Mike!!

Mike/312 Elements took our engagement photos and we were thrilled with the outcome. He was a pleasure to spend the day with and kept the ideas coming. The result: a photoshoot with plenty of cool locations in Chicago we never would have thought of.
He was great with follow-up as well and turned around several touch-up requests quickly. We met in person to review the final product and he took every step to ensure we were pleased with the final cuts.
I'd strongly recommend Mike/312 Elements for your session. This guy loves photography and it shows. -

Mike at 312 was EXTREMELY flexible, professional, and creative in shooting our bands photos. He's super cool, fun and friendly. Mike came up with tons of great ideas, and really brought fun into the process, whereas a lot of other photographers are quiet, boring and rely on you to come up with ideas. Mike is open to anything - we mentioned shooting in a ball pit and he was totally down. Unfortunately one of the band members said Chuck E Cheese's probably wouldn't allow 6 grown men taking pictures in their ball pit. Mike's great. Thx 312!!!

My fiance and I got in touch with Michael at 312elements to shoot our engagement photos. He was so great to work with - incredibly talented, comfortable to work with and super down to earth and friendly. He took our ideas in mind and came up with plenty of places and poses on his own. I needed a high quality, professional head shot and a few photos for http://Match.com...... and Mike really came through for me. I was cringing at the thought of sitting still to get photos taken. Mike knew it, worked around it, and made the whole process painless and easy. The photos turned out absolutely great, and I couldn't be happier. Art, specifically photography, works when the artist and the picture come together to create a wonderful image. Many photographers don't understand this. They feel they are creating the art themselves. Specifically in photography, they don't take the time to work with their client. They create their own vision, rather a vision that has both their's and the client's input. Mike is the complete 180 of this. The pictures taken were truly a collaboration of my band and Mike. The end results were fantastic. Not only do they look extremely professional, but we were still able to have a little bit of 'us' in the pictures. Our band photos are definitely unique because of this. Mike also did a ton of work setting up our website which has become the central location for anything involved with our band from social networking, to music, to emails and blogs. I highly recommend Mike if you are in a band looking to give a professional face-lift to your band's image....
