This place is absolutely perfect for a peaceful Sat/Sunday morning. I snagged a table in the little dining area, had a breakfast sandwich (YUM), read a book for a while,m and sipped on the rest of my latte.
Definitely a gem. -

Stopped in for breakfast on a Tuesday with the wife while we were bumming around North Park, checking out a couple places. Small little place, cool order window area/coffee bar area. We ordered a couple different breakfast sandwiches and a couple foo-foo coffees and hung out for a little bit while they were done up.
Sandwiches/coffee were very nicely prepared, and the croissant (optional) that they use for their sandwiches is awesome. We'll be back for breakfast, maybe lunch in a little bit to check that out. -

The best lox bagel in SD so far! I haven't come across a better place then this. The bagels are big and fluffy and the lox is plentiful on the bagel with tomatoes and capers. A perfect start to the day.
My friend got the egg sandwich, that bagel was packed with eggs! Looks really good. It did take quite long for the food to come out, but they were pretty busy. The seating arrangement was weird, the ordering and seating was in different rooms.
A bit pricey for the lox bagel ($9), but worth it if you can't fly to NYC to get one. haha. -

Solid food in such a cute area. Had the veggie egg sandwich and it was delightful. They have this cool rosemary bread. My bf had the turkey sammie which had nice THICK slices of turkey. Not too dry. Also had a side of the rosemary potatoes.
The nutella mocha was nothing spectacular, but I would love to try other items off their menu. I was really looking forward to their curry chicken sandwich, but alas it was so popular they were out.
Their dining area and order counter are separate and separated by a hallway, it works well though. There is also a small sitting area that gives it a cool coffeehouse feel. -

By far one of the best breakfast places we have tried. The food is great, and people are very friendly. Their Croissant's are excellent, and they always make the best recommendations for bread/breakfast selections.

So small and hidden you would never know it's there if you weren't driving down 30th street hungry and looking for a place to eat, or someone told you to go there.
It's counter service, and the time it takes to get food is pretty reasonable. There's a fairly large seating area relative to the size of the ordering section of the restaurant, and they have mostly chairs and one couch in a coffee-house style setup.
I ordered the Acai bowl, which I have since ordered every time I've gone there because it's so delicious and I can't stop eating it. Add to that the health factor and I'm happy to have found something that's not bacon-caramel topped sticky bun french toast to be addicted to, for the sake of my waistline. I was told by others that I've gone with that the other food is very good as well, so go check em out and give this local business some business!
Highly recommended -

Truly delicious breakfast. But best ever service. This small space rocks. They have a monthly featured artist on the walls as a bonus. Dave can be proud of this spot in the hood.

If you are trying to define and artistic co-op-like breakfast spot, then 30th Street Cafe definitely fits the bill.
As you walk up to the counter/kitchen to order your food, you may notice that the dining area is actually detached and across the hall. A dining area that is filled young, anime-like art pieces, community board with local advertisements, and home-made products to be sold to those interested in unique pieces. The feel is liberal and free.
The food is delicious. I ended up getting a greek breakfast sandwich which had fresh ingredients and generous portions. My husband's breakfast burrito was a hefty amount and as good as it was, too much for him to consume. Prices were definitely reasonable as well and we would love to come back to support this no-frills establishment -
Review from Jimmy H.
I absolutely adore this place... everything about it actually. The quality of the food was fantastic. The service was impeccable and the vibe/ambience was laidback just the way I like it. It was so cozy and the people that worked there were so friendly and welcoming. Every single dish that came to my table looked like it was cooked with LOVE! I ordered the egg scramble with bacon, turkey sausage, mushrooms and pepper jack cheese... sub'd toast for rosemary potatoes for a little extra charge but it was worth it.... mine was the second dish to come out and it had everyone jealous!
Not to mention, the prices were reasonable as well! Definitely would recommend this place because I love it so much BUT I might not since I want to kind of keep it my little secret. Pictures to come soon! -

My sister, her boyfriend, and a friend brought me here for my birthday and I only wish I'd known of this little place sooner!
- I got the berry waffle and apple cinnamon cider with nutmeg. Didn't finish the waffle 'cause I'd, unfortunately, eaten something at home before hand. It was really good, though; fresh and sweet blueberries and strawberries topped the waffle. The apple cinnamon and nutmeg cider was pleasantly delicious.
- My sister and her boyfriend split a smoked salmon sandwich; forgot the name of it. My sister says that it looks a little weird but that it's really tasty. They both loved it.
My sister is a bit of a chai snob, so she was very critical about the ice blended chai latte. To my surprise, she gave it her seal of approval.
Definitely coming back! -

Came here via a recommendation on Yelp for good breakfast in the SD area. I was absolutely not disappointed, though I was a little surprised by the set up of the place.
Its tiny...really tiny. But its ok. It kinda makes you feel like you're eating breakfast in someone's home at their kitchen table. The staff is friendly, and best of all, the food is fresh and delicious. I had the Caprese Panini, and it was absolutely fantastic. A little saucier than I would have expected, but just so so delicious. I decided to bring some fresh pastries back for my friends too.
I find myself lacking further explanation of the place. Its just so simple and awesome. If I lived in the area, I would be back multiple times a week. Especially if you live in the North Park area and you have never been, you are seriously missing out. You, of all people, need to make sure this place (and those like it) stay in business for a long time to come. -

Came here & ordered 1 to- go chicken sandwich with my boyfriend. We literally waited for our order for 25+ minutes!! We were right next to the entrance and also in a spot where you can see in the dining area, so at one point I made sure to watch- I never saw them bring any food out to the people in the restaurant & I never saw another party walk in the restaurant so I am not sure why it took so long! Also my boyfriend said the sandwich was just OK.

It's saturday morning and my girlfriend and I wanted to go out for breakfast/brunch, minus the day length wait time for one of the more trendy spots (ie snooze, hash house, etc) so we decided to drive until we found a place we both agreed upon.
We stumbled upon this tiny gem in North Park on 30th street (hence the name of the place) and what we found was pleasantly surprising. My girlfriend was in the mood for breakfast, and I for lunch, she ended up ordering a breakfast sandwich on a HOUSE made croissant and I ordered a club on rosemary olive bread.
Now, I dont consider myself a sandwich lover by ANY means because of the mere fact that NOBODY ELSE makes a sandwich LIKE 30th Street Cafe! What i ordered that day is the epitome of what a sandwich should be! Fresh bread, with crisp green lettuce, ripe red tomato, a large stack of fresh trimmed turkey, and the perfect amount of mayo. I could not believe it took 25 years to find such an AMAZING sandwich!
My girlfriend's breakfast sandwich was easily JUST as phenomenal of a choice, the croissant was perfectly flakey and buttery, and the thick slices of bacon with perfectly melted cheese hit the right spot.
While their menu is somewhat limited (salads, sandwiches, coffees, and baked goods) We were both thoroughly pleased with our choice, and the staff is super friendly!
thumbs up to you 30th street cafe! Well be back!! :) -

Review from Wendy B.
After eating at many of the better breakfast spots in San Diego, I have to admit, this little neighborhood cafe has stolen my heart. No crowds, no lines (!), it is small, unpretentious, laid back, and just darn good food. Everything we ate this morning was spot on.
Design your own scramble- Under $8, I got to choose 4 ingredients, with a minimal charge for anything more than that. Spinach, mushroom, onion, topped with swiss cheese was my poison and it was without a doubt beautifully executed, with excellent flavor. This came with a choice of toast. I picked their rosemary olive oil bread. Nice, and finished off with melty butter.
Chili omelet (special) - $9.50 (?). Both Mr B and Mr. B Jr. (aka sonny boy) got this. Raves all around. The chili is mild, homemade, all meat. Great homemade flavors that can be spiced up a bit if you need it to bite back. This also came with rosemary potatoes. Good, but a bit heavy on the rosemary.
We also surrendered to two freshly baked chocolate croissants. Good. While I have to admit I have had even better, these were one of the better we have had. It is nice knowing they bake them fresh each morning.
Coffee was great, and refillable, even after ordering the least expensive 12 oz cup size.
We ordered at a counter and seated ourselves at one of maybe 5 tables. There is also an overstuffed couch for those of you who are the lounging types. Food was delivered to us. We got our own coffee refills.
Staff were all wonderful, the owners gracious. All in all, a very repeatable experience and one I would say you gotta try. -

One of my favorite thing to do early in the morning is to go to a nice cafe and have a good breakfast, coffee, and read. 30th Street Cafe delivered this for me today.
You order at the counter, a more common theme at cafes these days, which I like. I ordered a croissant breakfast sandwich (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) which consisted of a couple of eggs, feta, tomatoes, sauteed onions, and some fresh basil. It was very good. The egg was fluffy, the feta was abundant and salty, the tomatoes and basil were fresh. The highlight to me where the flaky croissant and onions. The onions where sweet and tender and were perfect in this sandwich.
I also had their house drip coffee which was good. I am not sure if you get unlimited refills because to my surprise I only had one cup. I suspect not, because the dispenser was behind the counter and there was none one offering a refills. The place is small and quaint with indoor and outdoor seating. They had books for readers and a bulletin board for local news and advertisement.

30th Street Cafe is a quick, consistent place to get a morning coffee + pastry.
When I moved from Pacific Beach to North Park, the first thing I missed was the Better Buzz coffee spot in PB. I loved the convenience of going through a drive thru for my morning goods. Fortunately I soon discovered 30th Street Cafe. There may not be a drive thru but service is fast and parking is always a breeze.
The staff is friendly, the lattes are fantastic, and the croissants are much better than the ones you'll find at chain coffee shops. The decor is basic but perhaps it lends to its unpretentious vibe.
Full disclosure: the owner once gave me a free sticker. I'm still trying to decide where to put it but I figure a yelp review will be a more effective display of my love for the cafe. -

I was walking past this place just as I was feeling hungry. Lucky for my stomach. I had the mediteranean wrap and a nonfat latte. The latte really was like any other latte you can get at any coffee shop. But the wrap was delicious and I have convinced myself is completely healthy. Probably not but ignorance is bliss. It is a cute place with good food so why not give it a try?

First and most importantly: They have REALLY good coffee. I think it's from Cafe Moto but they don't burn it and make it too hot, so it has a lot of flavor. They are really nice, too. Their prices are reasonable and their food is delicious. Even though it's counter service, everything is made with love so food can take a bit longer than a typical fast-food place, but it's well, well, well worth the wait. Love these guys!

Finally tried this place out yesterday. And now I could kick myself for missing out for so long!
I had the curry chicken salad on a croissant, which I was told is a family recipe. It was one of the best sandwiches I have EVER had. Unique and so tasty. The service was very friendly and helpful in guiding my choice (everything looked so great!)
Look forward to many repeat trips in the future! -

My wife and I came here after i searched for something new on yelp. We have been driving by this place for years but had never tried it. I'm glad we did because it was very good and very reasonable. We love to have good coffee with our breakie and this place has got some great coffee. She ordered the breakfast sandwich on freshly baked croissant. I ordered the
Meatlovers wrap. They both were very good and are worthy of a repeat performance. The staff was very upbeat and friendly. There is no reason they shouldn't be in business for years to come. -

Excellent!! From the friendly staff to the free cucumber water every aspect of the restaurant worked. Unique setup between the dining area and the main entrance which gave the place a very homey feeling. Even thou it's a small restaurant you could tell the cook in the kitchen had some sort of culinary background by her precision plating and the diverse and complimenting textures and flavors.
I would recommend this small cafe to anyone and will definently be rendezvousing my way back next time I'm in town. -
Review from Danny W.
Probably one of the best places in town to illegally park and get breakfast. Their patio sits birds eye view of 30th so if a meter maid is anywhere close to your ride you'll have plenty of time to scurry over and move it before those bastards get the best of you.
Besides that, their egg wrap is awesome and if you get the meat lovers you might just have enough for your lunch as well. It's got sausage, bacon, ham, egg, spinach, and pesto in a whole wheat tortilla. It's a bit sloppy and has quite the price tag, but definitely worth it all in the end.
They've got some great blended coffee drinks as well, but again are a little more expensive than most places.
All in all, for a quick breakfast, this is one of the best bets in North Park.Listed in: Getting Buzzed, Breakfast

My girl and I went in on a Sunday around noon. (prime time brunch hours)
As I was nursing a epic hangover it was REALLY nice to be able to walk right up and order our food. We got a seat right away outside on a amazing SD day. I ordered the scramble with the Rosemary toast. Can I just say it was PERFECT. All the ingredients were fresh and piping hot! ( I hate it when my food gets to me and you can tell it was sitting under a friggin light for 20 min) the eggs were some of the best Ive ever had. I have a super sweet tooth on decadent mornings such as this, so I opted to thoroughly stretch my stomach out and ordered the Banana waffle. HOLY SH*T are you serious with this thing! PERFECTLY crunchy yet soft in the middle Belgian waffle with bananas toasted coconut and whipped cream with a bit of maple syrup.every bite was perfection with a great giant vat of coffee. In short this place rocks! No crazy lines, no cranky waitresses( coughs* the mission) great portions for the money ( come hungry) in a great lil part of North Park. Parking is off street so you might have a bit of trouble with that, but it was worth every step. This will be my new guilty pleasure. BTW if you want light and healthier food. They have a great menu with lots of really healthy fresh options too. Enjoy! -

Was looking for a place to get a late Sunday breakfast on a whim with a friend and saw the 30th Street Cafe had good reviews. So we went to check it out and ordered a veggie omelet and veggie egg sandwich. They were both fantastic. We ordered at the front and service was casual and friendly. We went out to the tables outside and our food came quickly. It was delicious and just what we were looking for at the time. We noticed a jar with dog biscuits and a water bowl outside that seemed to be for patrons pets and that seemed like a nice and welcoming touch. We were free to eat in our own little world even with some other patrons sitting nearby and all I can say is it was a very enjoyable experience. I'm looking forward to going again and sampling other enticing things on their menu.

Went here on a whim today for lunch, since it is near my house. For some reason I was craving a chicken salad sandwich, and this small deli cafe seemed like they might be able to fit my needs. Needless to say, they came through! The Curry Chicken salad sandwich was saucy and crisp, on 2 thick slices of wheat. Orange slices on the side. I posted a pic if you want to check it out. It was large enough that I only ate half of the sandwich with an apple, and saved the other half for dinner. They were friendly and quick, and had my order ready when I got there. (I called ahead for pickup.) I will definitely be returning for future lunches. It looks like they have a good breakfast selection too, so maybe next time I'll try that!

This was the first breakfast place we hit up after we moved here in May and we keep coming back! The staff and owner are really wonderful, the dining area across the hall is always clean with peanuts to snack on and a stack of City Beats to read, and the sandwiches and coffee are delicious. My lattes are always wonderfully foamy and toasty; the croissants melt in your mouth, the Greek sandwich is a nice change-up for breakfast; breakfast burrito is meh (why would you get one from whities??).
We never seem to have trouble finding parking and the patio is a nice option as well. -

Lovely restaurant. The service is excellent, the coffee hot and the food is good. I had breakfast here on New Years day. There are lovely outdoor tables (but lots of bugs that day). I ordered the bacon croissant sandwich but opted for sausage instead. It turned out to be a mistake. I didn't care for the sausage at all, it was different. Not sure how but it just wasn't to my liking. The croissant was delicious though and I bet if I had the bacon instead it would have been perfect. I look forward to returning. It's a great place to sit and read or have a quiet meal.

The granola with the blueberries, strawberries and bananas was good, but I was most impressed with the Bacon Lovers croissant which had egg, tomato, avocado and of course bacon. I am still impressed on how bacon and avocado compliment each other so well.

Recently moved close by and have been exploring the new neighborhood.
Tried this place for breakfast. The female worker was friendly and helpful.
I had the Greek breakfast, house coffee and a sweet croissant.
Their house coffee doesn't stand on it's own, but a little creamer and it isn't an issue.
The food itself was pretty good and pretty cheaply priced.
Will come back and try new things. Street parking only though. -

This little place is undoubtedly one of the best coffee places in San Diego. The most common breakfast and lunch times make seating sparse.
The food and coffee is great, prices are fair and ambience is pleasant. -

Good food. Good people. Good coffee. I've been living down the street from this cafe for a while I have always been stoked with my experience. The people there are always super happy and nice, very outgoing. The tuna melt is delicious. The open face lox bagel sandwich is one of the best I've ever had. As a breakfast/lunch cafe its hard to beat the combination of the vibe and the fare!
Go. Enjoy.
PS the new renovation and expanded menu only ups the ante! -

The menu is simple but packed with taste. Fresh baked everything!!
My favorite is the egg, bacon English muffin is incredible.
They expanded the dining area. The owner is a great guy, always happy to see us makes you feel very comfortable.

Been here a few times and love it :) Small, quaint cafe in the midst of the hustle and bustle on 30th. Friendly staff, good healthy fresh food, decent prices. I like that you can see the kitchen and the food prep area, makes me feel safer knowing that this business has nothing to hide. Very clean and homey atmosphere. Did I mention their croissants are amazing! Try one!

What an asset to North Park. Every little neighborhood needs a place like this where you can drop in and be treated like an old friend. Flying in for a day of work in the San Diego got off to a great start having a scramble on the patio on a sunny January morning.
