Whenever I go to Valdosta to visit family, I pretty much expect to have horrible food in the local restaurants. I can only assume there is a hex on any local foodies.

This last time I was beyond surprised to find 306 North. A smart menu and delicious food! It was clean and calm inside, the service was great, and our food was lovely.

I am hoping this place stays in business so my tummy can have a nice time when I visit south GA. It was really empty when we were there, so I hope it was just an off night for them.

I am sorry to hate on Valdosta, but I am not exaggerating when I say that every food experience I have had there for years has been extremely disappointing. For a city w/ many options I rate this a 4 star, for Valdosta I rate this a 5. Locals - you need to go here and support quality and thoughtful dining.

Nicely decorated, modern, a surprise in Valdosta.

Just OK service, clean, inventive menu.  Wine list is weak. Needs more 09 French. Ordered an 09 Chard and got an 010.  Chicken Liver, rosemary and grits appy was great. She crab soup too spicy.

Excellent music - an acoustic duo.

Don't order the scallops. The lady next to us sent hers back twice and they were still cold in the center.

Our waiter was weak: Water, silverware lacking. I think the chef and half the staff took a break at 8pm on a Fri night.

Lots of potential. I hope they fix the rough edges.

I'll start with the very nice service.  Our waitress was very friendly.  At least until I asked too many questions. Same with the manager.

I wasn't really surprised that the food was mostly frozen. When I noticed that we were the only people under 60 in the dining room I figured that would be the case.  The manager was honest when asked, though he didn't know that the lobsters were from Maine until he checked. To his credit, he checked!

A blue cheese martini was more olive than anything else. The melon gimlet was delicious. They did sample their wines which turned out to be our salvation, as the first taste was old.

The fried food sampler was bland. Frozen, pre-made bland.  Chicken livers on a rosemary skewer were decent, but again bland. A total lack of seasoning.

The entree is where they lost me.  My plate was hot, but the food cold.  Cool, unflavorful ponga (fish) and icy potatoes and broccoli. It was obviously a replate. My wife's  shrimp and grits....bland.  Cajun redfish....bland.  The sauce for my son's early bird filet was very good though.  Props.

They took my fish off of our bill and I ate my wife's leftovers but the bill with tip was still $145 for five. That was the deciding factor between two and three stars for me.  For that price you can't serve bland, frozen food.  Previous yelpers with high marks just aren't foodies.

Maybe I have different expectations than people in south GA, but I don't get it. We stopped here while on the way to Orlando. I didn't want to eat at one of the many chains in the area.

The interior was nicer than I expected. Cute but a little odd in the layout. My biggest beef with my experience here was the service. Our server's appearance was pretty sloppy and he only stopped at our table long enough to take our order and drop off our plates. He was already hustling off before you could get his attention. One of my pet peeves is when a server refills my glass by picking it off the table and carrying it back to the beverage station rather than bring a fresh glass. This is a violation of health code anyway.

The food was decent. I had the salmon with mashed potato and asparagus and my husband had the fried pork chops. The quality of the chop itself could be a little better. Everything seemed pretty salty too. I love salt, but it was a little much, especially in the gravy and mashed potatoes.

Despite decent food, it's all the little details that lead to 306 North's shortcomings. Train the servers to be more efficient and professional, make sure someone greets incoming diners instead of assisting sub-par servers, improve the weird path to the bathroom, polish the huge spots on the silverware, and filter the water. I'll probably end up at Atlanta Bread Company on the way back home rather than return here.

This was truly a TwoFer (First and LAST time in the same visit).  Started with the bartender attempting to substitute vermouth for the southern comfort he was out of.   The she crab soup tasted like cardboard flour paste.  The bacon appetizer was 3 cubes of pure fat.  They were out of both the Skirt steak and the Filet at 8 pm on a Saturday night.  Not worth the trip, even for the locals.

The food was OK and the staff very attentive. A bit expensive but, after a day of traveling, well worth the money spent. Next time I'm in Valdosta, I'll stop in.

306 North is a classy little gem located on Patterson Street just before you enter Downtown Valdosta. I love dining here for lunch. My favorite meal on the menu are the Buttermilk Fried Pork chops which are served with Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus. This restaurant is surprisingly affordable. My entire lunch cost me only $15 for the entree, a sweet tea and a side salad which I added on to my meal! 306 North boasts a full bar and excellent wine selection. Great place for lunch, dinner or just drinks!

Fabulous! What a nice surprise to find this restaurant. I had the "Vegetable Plate" which consisted of roasted asparagus, braised greens, sweet potatoes, and mashed potatoes. For dessert I had the carmelized angel food cake (highly recommended)!
Everything was prepared exceptionally well and service was great.

We thoroughly enjoyed everything at this awesome little bistro in downtown Valdosta. The menu features both local and seasonal ingredients in really interesting combinations; so I won't suggest what we had as you'll just want to explore the menu for yourself. Our kids enjoyed the soup and small plates; but the chef is happy to prepare something off menu if you have a finicky eater. Very worth the five minute drive off I-75.

On the way to Florida we drove in a bit to this restaurant. Well worth the detour. Steak and fish were too notch.  They so have a small kids menu but our kids split an entree. Desert was excellent. Will definitely come here again.

306 north is a great little bistro in downtown valdosta. The service was very good and the food was well prepared. T:-) hey have a very good selection of local dishes, carry several brand of micro brewery beer and had a very good selection of wine. They have an early bird special that was just enough for dinner. We will be back when traveling through Valdosta.

Excellent fine dining in Valdosta in a casual atmosphere.  Israel our able host helped a set of weary travelers enjoy a fine meal.  The spinach in the spinach salad was fresh and the pan seared sashimi tuna was perfectly cooked (seared on the outside and rare in the middle) with a nice sauce, some chili potatoes and very fresh green beans.  My dining companions enjoyed their meals and especially the carmelized angel food cake.  Excellent wine list.

I, too, a weary traveler was delighted to find this place. Food, atmosphere and our delightful server, Crystal (5 stars) were all just what was needed. Back today, a week later, I found them closed only to discover that Covington's, across the parking lot, is owned by the same people and is equally terrific--and open for lunch til 2:30. Worth the extra 5-10 minute trek from I-75.
