This bowling alley is pretty nice since its remodel a few years ago. From the moment you walk into this place, you'll notice the clean and modern interior with some good party lightning. I used to be an avid bowler and can vouch that the lanes are great, and the bowling balls aren't going to be scattered across different shelves as you might find elsewhere. The lane score computers are updated so they're not archaic like you might find at other alleys.
The food here is something you should probably pass over, unless you are really craving a snack. I suggest you do not eat any full meals here or try to for that matter. Pretty much standard fare of what you'd find at a carnival or TGI Fridays... a pathetic excuse for food.
Mixed alcoholic beverages are made extremely weak, especially if you're ordering that bowl/cup size thing. I don't know if they don't want you to get too intoxicated, want you to order more drink, or are just plain cheap. I actually had a friend ask to take the drink back because he thought there was no alcohol in it! F-ing weak ass drinks!
I would recommend that you come here to bowl during their "late night" bowling time which is after 9pm Sunday-Thurs, because it's only $3.50 per person, per game. Not such a bad deal. I used to be an avid bowler and would take advantage of this late night bowling every now and then
I'll have to concur with many of the reviews already here...
Some of the pros include - Very cool atmosphere, good music, cool video screens & lighting, a cool crowd, great bar, great bar food, great ball selection, everything generally works 99% of the time.
Some of the negatives - Pretty crowded with wanna be gangsters, etc., very loud, expensive during prime time, can be a (long) wait for a lane, drinks are expensive and watered down
OK so I kind of contradicted myself with the pros and cons, but sometimes the pros are good, sometimes they're bad, and vice versa.
This is a fun place to bowl if you're in a group of friends, but not for families. Sometimes the drinks are good, sometimes not. But they're always expensive...And they bartenders are always swamped.
Overall not a bad experience. Go to the website and check their rates - Sunday nights after 10pm is real cheap, whereas Saturday night is real expensive.
Positives:
Clean and modern
You pick the alley balls by selecting sizes and weights which is really good for me because I have very large fingers and I generally end up palming the 6lb ball. Plus you don't have to walk the racks to find the right ball without chips and stuff in it.
Negatives:
Drinks are expensive and not very good.
Just bowling is a somewhat expensive affair here. They've tried to make it an ultra lounge bowling alley which is fine if that's what you want but I'm more used to paying a buck and a half at the dive alley.
Overall its pricey but you're paying for comfort and ambience so if you're looking for an alternative to clubbing this would probably be a good fit. If you're a serious bowler you might prefer the service of more traditional lanes.
300 in san jose was by far the worst bowling alley i have every been to! They are waaayyyy to overpriced. I visited the alley on a sat evening with three other friends, our totally for the tab was $150 for two games!!! WTH definitely too much money to spend at a bowling alley especially in this recession! I knew something was fishy when we walked into the place the employee at the front told us to get our shoes and walk to lane five... we pay after our game!!! I realized at the end of our night why they did that, management knows anyone in there right mind would not pay 8 dollars a game per person.. so they wait till the end of the night to drop the bomb on you!!! IF YOU WANNA GET YOUR MONEYS WORTH IN THIS RECESSION NEVER VISIT THIS ESTABLISHMENT! TOTALLY RIP OFF
During the day this bowling alley is really fun. It's not crowded, the staff is very friendly, and the prices are fair. At night I would avoid this place like the plague. It looks like a ghetto night club in the late hours. The patrons are usually obnoxious, very loud, and make me want to murder somebody.
I remember the very first time I came here. I wasn't sure if I was at a bowling alley or a club! This isn't your typical AMF lanes, btw. Used to be... but...
NOT ANYMORE.
And talk about a remodel! The bar/ lounge area was much improved. Lights everywhere like a laser show. And service fit for a king or queen. HOW COULD YOU EVEN CALL THIS A BOWLING ALLEY?! This place had good vibes left and right!
A friend and I came during the day, before 5pm when the cost goes up. Games were decently priced at $5 per person. Plus $5 for shoes. We played 2 games. If you ever decide to eat while you play, the pizza isn't a bad choice OR...go with the garlic fries...you can't go wrong with that...
...and maybe some alcohol while you're at it. ; )
I know 300 can get pretty expensive, compared to other bowling alleys. But usually the cost is worth the cool setting and fun times. It's good to come here once in a while. Either you're with a friend or maybe a big group, 300 will mos def deliver.
Fun stuff. $3.50/game after 9pm on Sundays! I think that's pretty good considering other places were $2.50/game, but weren't as nice of a place as 300. Shoe rentals were $5/pair, but we had our own - sweet! We played a few games, did better than expected first round, terrible the second round, and decided to throw all caution to the wind and bowl with our other hand for the third round. Betting on games make it all the more fun. Lychee lemonade was blue, from curacao I think? Tasted the lychee, but wasn't super impressed. Green tea drink was better, a little bit on the lemon-lime tasting side. But drinks here are expensive! Good thing we saved on that shoe rental. Two drinks + 6 games + tip = $42.
This place drives me insane. It's an unreachable itch that i get every single day...sigh. 300 is my playland at the moment. minus 1 star because it's expensive unless you come after 9.
ok folks...this isn't a place that you go to for some serious bowling. you need to go to the more run down bowling alleys for that. this place is for some good times, distracting music videos in front of your face, loud obnoxious teens who don't understand bowling etiquette, pretty decent food and drinks, but damn...this place looks classy. the way that this bowling alley is set up is amazing...everything from the furniture to the bar to the super big screens behind the lanes, and the waiters who serve you at your lane.
the lanes are maintained ok...they have been pretty inconsistent with every visit. most of the time they're oily...but the past couple of times, they've been pretty dry. but like i said, this isn't a place for some serious espn-like bowling.
i'd recommend this place to anyone who wants to bowl in san jose. it's definitely not your typical bowling alley and i'm addicted to you, 300.
I came here for the first time last Tuesday and was pretty impressed. The place is huge! Probably bigger than Strike. There is a bar and lounge area immediately to your right when you come in with a HUGE tv. On your left is the shoe rental and finger sizing for the ball. No more having to search through the entire bowling alley for a ball with the correct finger hole size and weight!
Each lane also has small cubby holes directly under the seats for you to store your shoes, socks, and bags. No more having to place your shoes all over the floor and searching for them after you're done bowling.
We came around 9pm for their $3.50 a game special and we did not have to wait at all to get a lane. Shoe rental is only $5 if you don't have your own. They turn off the lights and have the black lights on with music playing, kind of like a club. Each lane has a flat screen, but they weren't playing any music videos that night.
They have a pretty good sized area with pool tables if you're not into bowling or want to take a break from it. There is someone who walks around monitoring the lanes and taking orders for food or drinks if you'd like some.
The only weird thing was the way she calculated our bill. I guess she thought we were only going to play 2 games. So there was a charge for 6 games and then another charge for 3 games rather than a single charge for 9 games.
Despite the annoying teeny boppers in the lanes next to us, overall a very good experience, definitely cheaper than Strike.
This bowling alley seriously got a new face lift! Very cool chic now with neon colored balls that you get from behind the counter right when you walk in to the "lounge" by the bar to the plush seating area by your lane. (They still have those ugly bowling shoes though.)
For a more "upscale" bowling alley, prices are comparable to other alleys, ~$7/game and $3.50 after 9PM Sundays-Thursdays.
I took one star away because they don't have pitchers of beer anymore! W.t.fizzle! Bring back my pitchers! And they charge you $6/pint. That's ludacris and I don't mean the rapper!
I really like their rates here after 9:00pm. It's only about $3.50 per person not including shoe rental. If you have a pair of your own then it's no worries. Bowling shoes are really inexpensive actually.
Anyways, the lighting ambient here is really nice, always plays some nice tunes to bowling and they got music videos playing on top of the lanes. They have a nice bar and a lounge with some sofas. With some pretty over priced food and drinks, it's nice however how they serve it to you promptly and with convenience. I'd say the pizza is probably the most reasonable priced out of everything else on the menu. Not saying it's the cheapest, but most reasonable out of the lot.
They also have a pool hall and sometimes I like to take a peak at whose playing, whose showing off, and who sucks. I use to be a pool junky & plus I have a personal pool table at home.
Place is clean for the most part, and it's a really nice place to get together with the option of bowling. Really nice bowling place.
I went here on a Thursday Night knowing that there won't be too many boppers because it's Thursday, and there won't be other immature college students, because it's clubbing night.
But damn, this is pretty much a night club without dancing.
The place is noisy, there's a bar, and there's a lot of mainstream music popping out of every projector screen on top of each bowling lane.
The whole venue is pretty much all flash and flair, but what matters is the bowling.
But umm, the have free Wi-Fi here. +1 star for that.
Bowling is a pretty different experience here. It's like being in a neon trance. If you've ever seen Knocked Up, or you've been pretty high yourself, you'd know what I'm talking about. My comparison to a club is pretty spot-on, with all the black lights. If you're wearing white, you'll glow in the dark, I swear. I'm just glad I didn't see any semen stains, so rest assured, this place is clean.
What amazed me the most was how new and how cared for the bowling shoes are. Not to mention the fact that they didn't look like clown shoes. Of course, with the good comes the bad. While the process of picking your bowling ball is great (you get to preview balls beforehand while taking your shoes because of the finger/thumb measurement process), when you get the ball, it's greasy as hell. Why are the balls greasy?
When we started bowling, the answer was right there. On the top right hand corner of our touch screen menu was a spoon and fork. They serve food here, similiar to the way food is served at the arcade in Dave & Buster's. Of course, we chose not to buy anything, otherwise we'd fall victim to tips galore. I'm particularly happy about that because I ended spotting all my friends because this place doesn't separate players in games in the check. Totally wack.
The Bowling experience is actually pretty cool though. If you can ignore the many music videos, there are lane lines on the lanes to help guide your ball if you feel that you can't see. My friend Troy kept bowling from where the ball delivery machine was, and he kicked our asses by only guttering twice.
The biggest flaw this place has is its price. Not only did we have to wait 15 minutes for our lane to get reserved for our party of five, but the cost was about 5.50 per game per person with another $2 or $3 or so going to our shoes and ball rental.
This may be the hippest bowling spot I've ever bowled at, but the greasy balls and high prices made me wish I was at the SJSU Student Union Bowling Alley.
I must admit, the decor of the place can quickly lure you in!! It's nightclub/ lounge atmosphere is reminiscent of some type of popular bowling alley in the middle of Las Vegas. Being an avid visitor to Vegas, the environment of the alley drew me in completely.
They have a full bar, pool tables, and a lounge to kick back and watch sports. The decor is very hip with colorful lights and newly modern furniture.
We came here on a Saturday night. It's a great place to be at if you don't feel like going to the club, but just relax and have a wonderful time with your friends or significant other.
The cons of this place is the prices!! Friday and Saturday nights are THE WORST! $8 per game per person plus $5 shoe rental per person! It was only the two of us, we played two games, and were totally surprised that our bill came to be $42!! Outrageous!
There are a lot of boppers that kick it here. It's like this is the only place that is "cool" enough for them, their only spot close to the 21 and over atmosphere!! But what ever, it's koo, they need some place to go anyway!
Overall, we would come back here but only on the cheap days!
can bowling alleys in my neighborhood take notes from this place...this review is for all the serra & classic bowl fanatics/owners to read...u walk in here & the music hits...everything from hip...local hyphy movement...80z with the the screens playing the music videos...& the most important thing at a bowling alley...the bar!!!~kudos to pete for makin the gummy bear shots...man i have to say that this is one place where u can actually go to watch a game/plan a sports gathering...theres the huuuuge projector & flat screens showin espn highlites & comfy couches to lounge in...all i was missing was my parlay card~i was like "am i really at a bowling alley"....
Oakridge AMF brings back memories. I used to kick it here all the time.. maybe a bit too much since I worked there as well. It used to be more ghetto but everyone knew each other kinda atmosphere... esp after 9pm special where you can get a good 4-5 games in without diggin too deep into your pockets.
After the remodel of this place, the usuals stop coming cuz it got way too damn expensive. I mean seriously 5 bucks to rent shoes, you can cough up like 10 more dollars and buy your own. From a business stand point I can understand they are targeting the younger more hip crowd so cant hate on that. Maybe Im just gettin too old haha =/ Oh and definitely cant hate on the chicken wings (sauce on the side)! Bomb fasho! Get that to munch on next time you stop by and bowl a couple games.
You wont see me bowling there anymore unless you want to bowl for $$ but definitely a chill place to grab a few drinks and hang out.
I downgraded from 4 stars to 3 cuz the service is terrible.. Never attentive when you need them to be and always around for no reason when you dont need them..
I can't believe I haven't written a review for 300 yet. I'll start off by saying this review is focused entirely on the bar and back 9; I don't bowl when I come here. I come for the great bartenders!
Pat and Pat (American and French) are great at what they do. We come here specifically to hang out with Pat, and they both make some mean drinks. American Pat has a lot of patience for the ladies (and some of the men) that I come with, coming up with creative cocktails on the spot. Tell him what you're looking for, and he'll make a delicious treat! The last time I went, for instance, I told him I wanted a spicy martini. He came back with a blend of muddled jalapenos, tabasco, peach schnapps, ketel one vodka, and a splash each of sweet & sour and cranberry juice. Freakin tasty, and unexpected! Ron is pretty cool, too. They all keep their customers engaged in conversation, and are very attentive to everyone's needs.
They lose a star for their very recent remodel of the bar area; it seems to take up too much space, and the bar itself is too high (and I'm a tall dude). Also, their year old menu is too fancy for a bowling alley. Their new glasses are a bit too fancy, as well; I often just ask for my drink in a pint glass.
Overall, the bar is a fantastic place to hang out on any given night. Look out for the thugs and whatnot that come out bowling on the weekends, and the 19- and 20-year olds that will shoulder tap you in the restroom, looking for a drink. It's pretty chill on the weeknights.
We had phase 2 of our B-day Bash here and well...it's pricey but fun. We called in and reserved lanes in advance under a couple different names but asked to be near each other...this worked out much better than paying their totally unreasonable "party" fees. The party packages are a total rip off if you ask me. Everyone really enjoyed our time here, there was something for everyone to do...
My friends and I love coming here. They have a full bar and its a great place to come and just chill with your friends. Patty is an awesome bartender so if you ever come here, ask for him and you will have your alcohol desires fulfilled!
The prices are a bit high here after they remodeled the place but it looks beautiful and if you come here Sunday-Thursday after 9pm, bowling is only 3.50 a lane.
They used to have garlic fries on their menu but they took it off recently and i have no idea why. Bad move!! Those fries were delicious.
Woah. Crazy bowling alley. The lanes are super clean and the seating area are booths instead of seats. This place is decked out compared to other bowling. I dont like how the balls are over the counter though, I like them in racks. 300 is pretty exspensive also. Other than that the lanes here are great for bowling.
Several things I like about this place:
-Shoes are fairly new and don't have that "toss me out after you're done" look.
-You get to pick your ball weight and finger size. No more aimlessly looking around.
-Facility has an overall swanky vibe.
-Employees are dressed like employees. A bit odd that they look like movie theater employees.
-Music videos play like crazy. Finally a music video outlet besides MTV2 and Youtube.
-Screen tallies up group scores.
-Bowling lanes and setup work without any glitches.
Several things that kinda annoy me:
-If you're not in the mood for music videos, you don't have the options of lanes without the disco lights and turned off screen.
-Prices are very steep on weekends. $12 a game without shoe rentals. But on a weekday we got two games and shoes for $12.
-People who come here generally don't seem to know about bowling etiquette, but it could just be the booze and Keith Urban music.
This place is a lot of fun if you are easy going. I mean, the atomosphere is different: colorful, awesome, serves good food and drinks! The bad part are the teeny boppers population, and bad service. I used to work here..and if you are upset at service because they seemed to not know what they were doing...yeah, they dont! When i was hired, management sucked at managing us..therefore our service sucked..I knew it, and I'll admit it.
I loved working here because some of the people and atomosphere was awesome, but also hated it because we were overworked, yelled at all the time by customers and managers (everyone would throw you under the bus if it made them look good infront of customers, excluding kathy)
I love it and hate it here. Its bitter sweet.
This is a fun bowling alley. Basically you have bowling, automatic fun, alcohol, big screens playing music videos, a huge space, and super clean and friendly staff. Unfortunately it's pricey, one round on a Friday night is outrageous. I would recommend going during the day or something if you just want to bowl. The alcohol is also weak, definitely not $10 worth of anything in my drink.
So my best friend had his birthday party here not too long ago and I wasn't too sure about it, but I figured, alcohol and bowling can't be too bad of a mix. I ended up not bowling, but it seemed like everyone else enjoyed it, the atmosphere was kind of fun, I liked the colors and stuff, made it kind of modern and not so divey like other bowling alleys. I liked the music and most of all I really liked their bloody mary. Which is saying a lot because I have never liked a bloody mary before.
for 2007 Xmas party, our company was thinking of doing bowling for our Engineering group and their family members. 300 vs. Strikes, 300 was much cheaper and treated us great from the moment i got there, which was about an hr before the group, until the moment that i left. in addition, we were able to get the whole facility from 4-9pm on a Friday for the price that we paid for (for a group of 300). it's not my money so it was of course very cheap :) BUT I was very pleased with everything that was offered and recommend this place for any corporate outings.
I would give their location and service a 5 star :)
today, i came back w/ my daughter and her friend - Saturday, midday.
we bowled 2 games each, got shoes rentals for all three of us and three sodas = $64. I WAS LIKE WTF? but my daughter had a great time w/ her friend and so it was worth it. Honestly, that is the most expensive bowling outing i have ever experience. services was awesome though. almost every 5 frames, someone would check up on us to make sure we were ok or if we needed anything. the place was clean and new. the bar is the only place under construction which was a eye sour. other than that, we were able to bowl w/ music video from hannah montana and vanessa from HSM...my baby girl had a ball.
For today's visit, i would give it a 4 star but w/ that steep bill, 3 star :(
Went here to celebrate a friend's birthday. The sharks game was on and they were screening it on the gigantic big screen with fans all dressed in gear gathered around watching intently and cheering as they slurp on BEER served at the bar just a few steps away from the screen and ample seating. There are many lanes and since they have remodeled, it looks GREAT! I would love to come here again to use one of their private rooms for a party! (: Parking is a bit limited at night, so come early. Lanes fill up quickly so if you want to reserve lanes before others come, come early to do so. Servers were really nice and attentive with bringing extras that we needed. The bar made really good drinks. Overall, a nice comfortable and relaxing bowling experience with friends and/or loved ones.
Tonight was my nephews 4th Birthday and they decided to do it here. I had been here in the past, before the remodeling and it wasn't hella ghetto like everyone makes it seem, but this is DEFINITELY an improvement!
It's very spacious inside and the environment favors a club. I guess imagine bowling at a club .. LOL the very concept that they were after. The food was overpriced, but that is to be expected at a place like this. The waiters are not very assertive they kind of stand around until they're called but they are helpful when you track one down.
The spicy thai buffalo wings were yummy as were the trio of fries - the sweet potatoes were my fav. They have chicken fingers but for kids only.
My boys had a lot of fun, they put up the bumper guard things for the lanes the kids were playing on and the music videos that were playing were appropriate - at least I thought so. It wasn't overly sexy or raunchy .. early 90s hits mixed with some new pop singles. It was like bowling at a club (like I said before) with my kids ... FUN FUN FUN :)
Good place to visit with friends, huge place. The food is -OK, not really fresh. At the bar were 2 bartenders, I ordered same drinks twice and skinny guy made worst drink, other one did my drink perfect.
Friday nite the hubby & I went to 300 to celebrate a friend's birthday. We arrived at 8:45pm. It was not packed. Hubby said it was due to the economic crisis, lol. There were a lot of families there with kids ranging from elementary, middle and high school. 300 has pool tables, projector TVs, lounge and bar. I liked the decor. I liked it -- my first time being there.
The staff was friendly and our waiter was attentive. Bowling is bowling. It was fun to hang out with friends, drink and have some laughs.
Hubby bought me a couple of drinks. It was not very good. My cranberry vodka tasted bitter. I had to ask for more cranberry juice. Hubby had a couple of drinks as well.
The bill came out to $300+ for 2 games of bowling for 10 people, burger & fries and drinks. Pretty expensive but I'd still come again.
The only thing I didn't like was the music selection. They would play R&B, Hip Hop and then Country. Left us thinking "wtf" hahaha
This place looks like the love child of a bowling alley and some hip lounge downtown.
Family fun activities at clubbing drink prices!
This place definitely got a nice face lift from before when it was just plain 'ol Oakridge Lanes. It's much cooler to hang out there now. Especially with the fabulous FULL BAR & LOUNGE. =) YUM. There's also waiter service at the lanes. Food and drinks for everyone!
The TV screens at the end of all the lanes showing music videos are cool.
And for the VIP... there's a room with their own lane for conference parties, so I've heard. I'm not that rich yet to see it for myself.
For the non-bowlers there are multiple pool tables and some arcade games to entertain you.
Good place to go with a group of friends, but it's a bit on the pricey side. Depends on what priorities you have. If you're looking for something cheap, steer clear. If you're looking for something visually stimulating, this is the place for you.
I grew up in this neighborhood and remember when it was boring Oakridge lanes......so when I was invited to 300 for a bowling/ birthday party who knew I'd be walking into a club. WOOT WOOT!!
Since I went for a private party in the private "VIP" area and had everything paid for, I was HIGHLY impressed. ahahha. Definitely have to consider a private party for a future event...although I heard it is very expensive. The private area had about 6-7 lanes, an area for buffet food, and couch lounge area for each lane. Not sure what the capacity is but it's a pretty large area. The service was excellent. They kept coming around to grab our empty plates, glasses. If there was anything wrong with the lanes, bowling screens they were right there to help.
Outside the VIP area, the bar and lounge seems like a good spot to catch a game and a few brewskies in the future. The overall vibe was fun, young and cool.
I remember when I first came here after renovation. It was such a pleasant surprise that I wouldn't have been shocked if the employees broke out in song and did choreographed backflips down the lanes, glorifying the exchange of 8-bit Atari style scoreboards with computer generated animated characters informing bowlers "You got a strike!" No more ghetto ass Pastimes! We just celebrated my nephews birthday here. There's no way in hell I would've brought my nephew here when it was Pastimes without a bulletproof vest and a TB vaccination. Just kidding, it wasn't THAT bad.
After the shock wears off and you adjust to the now aesthetically pleasant decor, there's not really much else to be impressed with. Food is not great, service is hit or miss, bartenders are mediocre. The crowd can still be a little ghetto, and you'll find a lot of the bopper high school mallrats from Oakridge making there way here. But the bar and lounge area is a pretty cool spot to chill and grab a drink. The system they use to distribute bowling balls and shoes is pretty efficient, too.
I'm having trouble deciding whether to give this 3 or 3.5 stars. For what it is, though, I would say I'm a fan. If I felt the urge to go bowling, this would definitely be my first choice. I've shared good times with family and friends here on more than one occasion.
Holy mother of pearl.. what did they do to this place? I gotta say, it isn't the same ol ghetto Oakridge Lanes I remember. This place got an extreme makeover and I can't complain! I haven't been to this place in years and when I walked in I didn't feel like I was the same 16 year old bopper in my ripped denim skirt and hollister tee. I had a grown persons good time and at the same time my kid was enjoying himself. All in the same venue!
Last I remember, they sold beer by the pitcher here whereas now they sell them individually only. Food is alright-- buffalo wings tasted microwavable, pizza-- average, sampler plate-- average. It was just OK. But it's okay-- I still happily ate it! Anyway, chances are most people go there to bowl. If you don't like the food there are plenty of places to eat nearby. Make sure to get a strike! Who doesn't love the cute animations that come up on the screen whenever you do well!
We were just here on Thursday to celebrate a friend's birthday. She rented out the backroom at $40/person. It came with access to the private lounge, lanes, shoes, food, and soda.
Oakridge Lanes used to be a typical, old, bowling alley. But after the remodel, it now boasts a nice sized lounge, dim lighting, and hiphop videos, giving a more upscale feel to just "bowling'. :)
This review is for the backroom.
Pizza, salad, breadsticks, and chicken wings came with the $40/person package. The pizza was gross. Don't order it. It tastes like cafeteria pizza. Breadsticks went well as croutons for the salad. Chicken wings were bomb, with dry seasonings instead of wet sauce.
Wine was $37/bottle for something worth $10 outside. You could actually even sneak in your own alcohol! Wish we would have known earlier, because we ended up spending $350 for me and hubby somehow that night. My roomie spent $300 and she went solo! I'm not sure if we're dropping $ or if the drinks are just overpriced.
The backroom is so much fun! It feels like you're at a club, because the lights are really dim, and there are huge videos playing on projectors in front of you. It's great for kids, because you can keep an eye on them easily in the room. Great place for a birthday celebration with your friends!
Not sure how we made it home...but nobody got a DUI...although hubby did end up in the ER the next morning.....I would say it was a good night. :)
Close to home, I would come back again...but this time, I'm sneaking a flask in with me!
This place SUCKS! I spent my birthday here and I know it could have been so much better.
Called on a wednesday night to make reservations for saturday night. Were told you can't make reservation for lanes on the weekend, but you can call in half an hour before you would like to make your reservation. ITS A LIE! I went in on Saturday to get a lane and they told me they never heard of such a thing and you can reserve lanes a week in advance! I hate the wednesday night worker that lied to us. If he didn't know, he shouldn't have made something up.
Food is ok. Very over priced...but so is the bowling, so it was expected. We ordered our food in the lounge area but when we got our lanes, we wanted to move to a table closer to where we were gonna bowl. Our waiter asked for us to cash out (before we got our food) before moving. I thought it was extremely weird because we were not much farther from our original location. Ordered a trio of fries: it had normal fries, sweet potato fries, and potato chips that I do not consider fries. Empanadas were also weird because they were open faced...not sealed up like you would expect an empanada to be.
Lanes were pretty good I guess. I like to use the arrows on the floor when I bowl, but there were streaks of light on the lane that made the arrows hard to see.
Despite my anger towards the wednesday night worker, I still had a pretty good birthday at 300. But I do hold grudges, so because I had so many problems with the staff, I don't think I want to come back.
I love this overpriced bowling alley more than any other bowling alley I have ever been to! But I can't afford to come here whenever I want so I often resort to the less swanky 4th Street Bowl when need be. My office recently had a really large party here to celebrate us reaching goal and they accomodated us really well! We had about 10 lanes, with pizza, chips & salsa, and sodas. They seemed pretty patient with us. They also play really good music which can be very distracting at times. If you can afford it, you should definitely come here!
300 is best for corporate parties. When your company rents the private alley, pays for the food and booze - how could you not give it a good review? If I were rating based on the two times I've bowled here on my company's dime then it would have received 5 stars.
I've also come to 300 a couple times with friends. Bowling in the non-VIP section is nothing special but nothing terrible. If I'm going for a swankier bowling experience, I'd say Strike, in Cupertino, has the advantage. Ya know, simply because it's "cooler".
Came here and bowled with my friends a few times. For some odd reason, I tend to bowl my best here at 300. 180 - my high score & turkey twice. Got the video to prove it too. Perhaps it was pure luck. I like the food, the drinks (big drinks), and the lounge with big screens. It can get really busy on the weekends, be prepared for long waits on such days. As for the interior, it seems to have a lot of similarities to Strike Cupertino.
Here's one some of you may know (my bowling version of rolling, rolling, rolling):
Bowling, Bowling, Bowling.
Keep them bowlers bowling...Pins down.
Line em up. Knock em down. Pins down!
this place is super expensive for bowling, esp on the weekends/friday nights. however, the environment is super hip and new, almost club/lounge-ish. it can get pretty crowded and popular. it's like a bowling party all the time.
Great place, except the prices. The prices for drink are horrible, and the bowling rates outrageous. There are many fights, so this would not be a good family thing to do on a saturday aroun 7-11.
The people have a really slow reaction rate, and it takes them forever to process food. I come here, but only on rare occasion.
Awesome place to bowl. The setup is really nice and I love how they play music videos right above the pins as you bowl. They also got a nice little lounge and bar to chill at if you're into that. I'd give it a fifth star if the prices were a little lower.
