I've been coming here for many many years and unfortunately i've been coming a whole lot less because it's a long ride from the city.

For some reason i keep on calling this cafe ground zero...whoops.

Anyway, the food is pretty good. They make fresh, delicious milkshakes and they have a large seating plan throughout the inside of the building as well as outside. Every now and then, if you want to sit outside, planes will touch down and some will take off.

I've taken off from this airport once or twice, and its awesome to know someone who works here, because the rides are pretty fun!

Popular breakfast menu (with limited lunch menu (salads, sandwiches, burgers).  Model airplane galore with a spacious parking lot and bathroom.  Friendly service.

Prices are reasonable.  I had me a cheeseburger with fries $6.85.

I heard about this place on AAA Via magazine; glad I stopped by. I did not really come to see the helicopters or the private jets land.

It's a bit windy so bring a jacket if you want to enjoy lunch outside (bench seating)

    Love this place!!

We've only been there a few times, but love taking friends and family from out of town or out of state to show it off.  And we've never had a bad meal.

We stopped by again on Sunday with family and friends for breakfast. It was busy and we did have to wait for what seemed like a bit toooo long for our meals, but when we got them - what a delight. Temperature was hot. Food was so tasty, so fresh and so scrumptious. We weren't let down.

We already have another visit planned in June to take other friends from out of the area. Can't wait!

We had breakfast here. The cafe is part of the airfield for local airplanes and is an old school diner.

The indoor area was well decorated with memorabilia and historic replicas. My daughter was in the process if doing a report on Amelia Earhart, and we thought this place was great to teach her perspective on the planes of that time and to show her the era through pictures.

They actually had a picture of Amelia that made my daughters visit.

Eat outside on the patio if the weather is serving. You can watch small planes land and take off.

We had the brioche french toast and the eastern omelete.  The french toast was good.  The omelet here was okay. Not terrible, but nothing great. Service was friendly.

This is a popular breakfast spot locally.

We got there around 10:30 on a Sunday morning. We rode there and walked in to find it absolutely full with a waiting list, but we put our names down and it was only a 10-15 minute wait. Service was really friendly and efficient, and the coffee was good.

Two of us ordered the Country Fried Steak and Egg and two of us ordered the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict. My steak was phenomenal, perfectly fried, hot, fresh and tasty and the white gravy was just about perfect. My over medium eggs were properly cooked, though the potatoes were kind of weak I didn't have the appetite for them anyway.

    Will return!

What a cool spot.  A little diner set up on an airfield in Half Moon Bay.  Airplanes hanging from the ceiling. Not bad.

The food was not bad either.  Mainly your typical breakfast/diner menu, but I like how they have a few other more unique options.  The service was also very friendly. All in all a good experience.

A great stop on the way down to Monterey from SF.

If you love planes and food, this place is for you!! :)

This place is one of those hidden treasures! We literally missed the restaurant while trying to look for it along Hwy 1! A yelp friend and I came here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon before a yelp event in Half Moon Bay. 3-Zero Cafe is a small place is also an airport terminal for Half Moon Bay Airport? :D

The interior is filled with model airports, tons of memorabilia, and other artifacts from the flight age! It's a real treat to come here to enjoy their food and admire all of their collections! And while dining in the cafe, you can look out the window and see small planes land or take off!!

I ordered the delicious crab cake benedicts!! and my yelp friend ordered the mango jalapeno sausage crepe! Both were super good and came with homestyle potatoes! The owner was very welcoming, helpful, and friendly! Service was quick!

If it weren't for Yelp, we definitely would've never came here for brunch, nor would we have ever found the tiny cafe! We'll definitely be back with a bigger group next time! And maybe have a UYE!? :)

Came here with a fellow Yelper just before the YEE at the Mavericks Event Center in Half Moon Bay.  I looked up brunch places in HMB and this showed up high on the list, along with the Ritz Carlton :)  We opted for this quaint little place instead of the Ritz and there was no reason to regret the choice!

As others have noted, it's easy to miss.  Not because it's hidden, it is in plain sight, but one moment, you are whizzing along on Highway 1 and the next moment, you have overshot the turnoff to the tiny airport so you gotta turn around and try and get back on the craziness that is Highway 1.  But it's worth it :)

Really cool interior, very intimate and unlike anything you're likely to have seen before.  Models of airplanes, tons of flying memorabilia, items from WWII and other famous air battles... and it overlooks the airfield so you can watch planes takeoff and land all the time.  The little building also doubles up as the airport terminal.

Extensive menu - I was surprised by how many different choices were available here.  After perusing the menu for a few minutes, I settled on the mango-jalapeno sausage crepe and my friend got the crab cake Benedict.  Both came with homestyle potatoes which were amazing.  I liked my crepe a lot and the portion size was more than adequate.  The crab cake Benedict was a huge hit as well though I personally could not enjoy it because of my shellfish allergies :(

Service was courteous and not intrusive.  The owner is a friendly person who personally takes your order and chats to you about the food and other trivia if you're interested.

Very clean and well lit, airy and spacious.  Clean restrooms.

    # 4 stars overall for a fun experience - it will definitely be a one of a kind experience with some pretty interesting and creative food choices.

If you are a pilot this is a must stop.  The Half Moon Bay airport KHAF has some a lot of history.  3-Zero cafe looks like the old terminal building.  The people are friendly and the food is great.  Try the Jalapeno Mango Crepe.  The are only open 8AM to 2PM which is part of the charm.  The owner helped us find an aircraft to rent and we flew up the coast and over the Golden Gate Bridge.  What other cafe offers that?

This place is very busy on a Sunday morning.  Went here after 12pm for some breakfast and a lot of other people had the same idea.  The restaurant is covered with model airplanes and pictures of pilots and planes all over the walls.  Also heard the owner talking his air history with a customer.  I thought that was really cool.

Food was pretty good.  I ordered the sweet potato pancakes short stack (2 cakes).  They were huge!  I could only eat one of them, but saved the other for breakfast the next day.  My boyfriend had a salmon omelet.  He said it was really good.  Food is not a problem here, just bring a large appetite.

Recommended by my mom's co-workers (she was in the area on a temporary assignment), she didn't really give it much thought. 3-Zero Cafe doesn't look like much sitting on the side of the highway next to the tiny Half Moon Bay Airport. However, when I went for a visit over Christmas we decided to give it a try.

And boy are we glad we did! 10 days in California, eating out every single one of them, and this was definitely a top 3 meal. Maybe even top 2. Admittedly, I do have a weakness for a good breakfast, but this was amazing by any standards.

I had the crab frittata - 3 eggs scrambled with fresh crab, tomatoes and onions. Perfectly ripe sliced avocado on top and hollandaise sauce. On the side, crispy home fries and a toasted English muffin. To die for. And there was enough on my plate that I took home leftovers and had it for breakfast the next morning!

My mom had the Italia - scrambled eggs with veggies and chunks of bread (I think!) mixed in and pesto throughout. On the side, home fries and english muffin. We were both pleased with our choices. Her only regret is that she didn't take her co-workers advice sooner!

3-Zero is a nice breakfast spot with a rather unique setting:  the tiny Half Moon Bay Airport.  Fans of food and airplanes alike will enjoy this place.  The food is good, and the walls are filled with cool memorabilia and model airplanes.

I recommend the omelets, which come with fried potatoes that are tasty and not greasy (yay!).  The brioche french toast comes with fresh fruit on top, and it's also good.  The fruit compote is rather sweet, so be sure to get it on the side.

The only thing I can't recommend is the coffee.  It tastes rather muddy.

Thankfully I get good humor 'cause I paid for it when I called before we arrived and when we arrived. Tee hee.

We were in HMB for a weekend getaway and since I didn't know when it opened and called and Mark answered  my question with: "No, I'm here because I knew you were going to call."

When I asked what forms a payment they received, the reply was "Credit, debit, motorcycles, airplanes, and houses". To which I laughed and said, "I'll see what I can do".

And unfortunately, we couldn't figure out where this place was and so I had to call again. At this point, I knew Mark would know it was me once we walked in and was kind of embarrassed. So, sure enough he knew it was us, but we soon discovered that Mark was a character and I was no longer embarrassed.

It's at the HMB county airport and the place is filled with all things related to air flight. The breakfast was good, the coffee was great, and the service (and just listening to Mark) made it enjoyable. I don't know if it already has, but it needs to be a segment on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives!

I probably would never have eaten here if my bf had not made the discovery of what is now one of my favorite places for brunch. It kind of looks like a run down place from the outside. We almost missed it because they don't really have a sign, and it's located right next to the half moon bay airport.

They have a very wide selection off the brunch menu and it was so hard to choose from because everything sounded so good. We ordered the crab cakes benedict and brioche french toast along with 2 mimosas. I can't even describe how good the food is. It's not too pricey either. I only wish it wasn't so far away or else I would be there every weekend.

You can drive past this place without realizing you have missed it, but it is worth turning around!

It's like a regular diner inside, but the food is awesome and staff is friendly.

The walls are covered with old airport pictures and fun memorabilia since its in a building literally at the airport.

Let me start by saying that my family and I are "locals".  We eat here a lot.  The food isn't spectacular, but it's decent stuff for "diner food".  They are fast with serving food, nice to families with kids, and always happy to accomodate whatever you need.
HOWEVER.  While eating there recently we noticed that among the model airplane memorabilia lining the walls and ceiling, were two Nazi Germany warplanes.  Complete with swastikas.  We had a quick little debate at our table about whether or not that was appropriate.  Is it just part of history?  Is it offensive?  Was it intentional?  My husband and I (who are both Jewish) decided that it did make us uncomfortable, because this was a diner, not a history museum.  So we casually mentioned it to the guy in charge.  He laughed it off. In fact, as I was leaving the restaurant I caught him making fun of us to another employee ("Do you see that guy over there?  He gave me a ration of s--t for the swastikas").

Watching him laugh at us as we walked away was repulsive and shameful.

We will no longer dine at 3-Zero Cafe, or their sister restaurant The Flying Fish Grill.
*update: Someone from 3-Zero responded to this review, but his comment shocked us.  Not once have we heard them say that they were sorry we were offended, or that they never intended to offend anyone.  Nope.  In fact, he throws in a part about "Jap" planes. His response (not to be confused with an apology), is below.

Definitely a great breakfast joint in Half Moon Bay! Like all the reviewers said you will miss this place if you are not paying attention. It literally is right next to the airport, very cool location. Came on a Saturday morning and it was not busy at 9am, in fact it did not start getting busy til 10am.
Must order the fresh squeezed orange juice, definitely worth the money. The breakfast menu has quite a variety, that I wanted to order everything. The husband ordered the "french toast brioche with fruit compote" very tasty. I ordered the "spicy chorizo scramble" and pancakes, it was really good and spicy. I am usually not a fan of pancakes because they are too thick, but these were light. Must stop by this place for breakfast during your visit to HMB!

Awesome breakfast.  Keep your eyes open though because I drove by this place a hundred times and didn't know it existed.  The food is amazing and the service is friendly.  The one bad thing is that sometimes the server gets distracted and it may take a long time for him to come back by which had us waiting to ask for our check for like 15 minutes.  He is super cool though and his friendliness and the awesome food is worth the wait!!!

My husband and I recently visited the 3-Zero Cafe on a Saturday morning.  We drove from Lodi, out in the Central Valley...just to enjoy a sunny day along the coast.  Honestly, I had read a miserable review for this place...a review that was listed with HUNDREDS of VERY positive reviews.  I must admit, I was curious to see and experience this place for myself.

We had a nice breakfast...same sort of breakfast you might find in PLENTY of other little restaurants...but the warm greeting, friendly owner and staff, interesting memorabilia and lore, the setting....ALL made for a delightful breakfast experience and my husband will be going back again and again. We were made to feel like 'long-time regulars.'

Despite the place being as busy as you would expect on a Sat morning, seating and service were reasonable and efficient and not once were we made to feel as though we needed to rush through and vacate the table. A nice leisurely morning.

As for an offensive model airplane...as mentioned in the aforementioned miserable review, I KNEW what I was looking for and STILL couldn't find it.  This owner doesn't have a mean or racist or biased bone in his body.   Caution, however...if you're not interested in encountering and engaging with friendly folk...you might want to stay home.  Bon Appetit

Don't get the pilot's plate. (My girlfriend did.) I really can't believe they served this thing. It's supposed to be scrambled eggs, mushrooms, sausage and artichoke hearts. It came out a gray, yes gray, rubbery mess which was completely inedible. Everything was cooked together which is big no-no. And the artichoke hearts were the canned kind soaked in vinegar. Gross. I didn't eat it at all and the owner asked if I wanted it boxed. REALLY?
Anyway, the rest was ok and I would go back and order something very simple like I got. (Boyfriend) Poached eggs, potatoes, english muffin. The bacon was a little floppy but my guess is we should have asked for it well done.
Service was nice and it's nice to see the owner knows everyone coming in. 3 zero's nah but maybe 2! ;)

Wonderful! A great cafe right off the runway of the Half Moon Bay airport! Looks like a cross between a model airplane shop and a gas station--tons of model airplanes hanging all over and lots of big windows looking out at the planes sitting on the runway. Only had to wait about 10 minutes, though the place was packed the entire time we were there. The service was great--fast and friendly, and they didn't rush us, despite the obvious need for tables.

I had the brioche french toast, twas wonderful. I tried to get home fries instead of fruit and the owner guy looked at me like I had three heads. I didn't realize the fruit was piled on the french toast and not on the side. I'm glad I listened to him (although the home fries were delicious.)

My girlfriend had the vegetable frittata, with tons of fresh vegetables, home fries, and a biscuit. I loved the home fries, and she thought the frittata was delicious, and the biscuit too. With coffee, it cost us $27 including tip, and we didn't even finish the food on our plates.

A great place to stop on Highway 1! Will definitely go back!

Wow!  This place surenly doesn't seem like the kinda place where you would get so many reviews, but then again, here I am!
1stly, this is keeping in mind that we were a party of 10 that came along in 4 different cars to have a late breakfast. People showed up at all sorts of times, and they were completely cool with everything.  There was plentiful parking at this small airport right on the 1.  Fully wheelchair accessible.  Lots of flying paraphenilia befitting the environment of course.  Glacially slow yet very friendly service.  I note that even on their menu they state that unruly children are not welcome, and being as there is a working airport right there, if you don't have a good handle on yr kid, you really don't want to be there anyway!

OK, the food, double plus good for the fresh squeezed OJ.  Good Bacon.  If I am ever back in the area, I will def come back for more! For reals a good solid breakfast place!

I've also had the crab cake benedict, chorizo potato scramble thingy, and Joes special, which are all really good too! I really wanted to give this four stars, but the experience was more like two... We had heard soooo many good things about this place. The food was OK, but not the "wow" I expected, frankly. And the wait as really too much... Between waiting for the table for about 20 minutes to waiting for the food for about another 20, to waiting for the check... well, this was a major outing! The place is cute, and the service was friendly, but I think there were too many people there for them to serve - there weren't enough people working and they couldn't crank out the food quickly enough. I will not go there again mid-morning on a weekend again, but I'm likely to give it another chance at another time of day...

We had heard how great a breakfast & lunch place this is. While we were waiting on a table, lots of interesting and appetizing looking dishes came out of the kitchen. It had a very interesting decor, as one would expect from an airport cafe. And the wait was not too long.

The menu had an interesting and wide variety of breakfast and lunch items on it. We had a difficult time deciding what to have. So far, it was living up to its reputation.

The first disappointment was the fake iced tea. When we asked to have it replaced with water because it wasn't real, brewed iced tea, our friendly server asked, "who said it was?"

She ordered the southwestern omelet, and added avocado. I ordered the machaka & eggs.

The omelet came without the avocado. The potatoes were attractive, but that's about all we can say about them. The omelet was good, but would have been better if it had come as ordered.

The machaka came with rice, beans, pico de gallo, and 4 corn tortillas. If they had added some cheese and mushrooms to the machaka and eggs, it would have been a philly-cheesesteak scramble (with rice, beans, pico de gallo and tortillas).

So, we won't be going back. No real tea pretty much kills it for us, but the friendly service and cool atmosphere can't make up for the unimpressive food, when you can get almost as good a meal, without skimping on the tea, at McDonald's.

We found this place while scoping out HMB and my son is a huge airplane freak and we thought it'd be neat to take him. We came in for breakfast and the place was super busy so we hung out while we waited for a table to come available, my son loved all the decor, a bit disappointed that he didn't see any takeoffs/landings but that's luck of the draw anyway.

The food was very good, I had the brioche french toast, my son the potato pancakes, the husband some omelet, and my daughter scrambled eggs and bacon.

The service... SUPER SLOW!!!! All the tables that had been seated around us after us had been served and we were still waiting. We had to ask 3 different times for our food and was told once by the owner that our food was coming right out (15 minutes later and 2 more asks)...

Would we go there again? Maybe. Slow service annoys me though and we didn't do anything weird to our orders so the delay was kind of weird.

    Update Nov. 27, 2011:
Two stars for two words: bacon gravel.  What do I refer to?  Overcooked bacon, pulverized into tiny, hard pellets of salty gravel designed to promise a new Mercedes payment for the local dentist.  I received a big mound of this in my Eastern omelette, which also included three tiny pieces of spinach, a slice of Swiss and a quarter slice of avocado on top. Although the eggs were good, I ate around the gravel, hoping to send a message to the kitchen...please simply chop the bacon next time! I think it was a lost cause, though.  The owner was around, but I didn't want to point out the gravel and ask, "Would you eat this?" for fear that indeed, he would say, "Yes, of course! Who wouldn't?!? I enjoy bacon gravel every day..."

The service was off, too. Our server forgot what came with what and a side order was lost only to be recovered after we received our bill and after we reminded her about it.  Bummer....

I've been here twice for a post-beach/surf breakfast and both times, the food has been pretty tasty.  The airplanes and vintage plane memorabilia covering the walls as well as watching the planes land at the airport are really the reason to stop by here if you can snag a parking spot.  Weekends are really packed, so expect a wait. I especially like the coffee pot in the corner for those just driving through... with a box for donations. Nice...

Who doesn't want to watch planes land and take off while they are enjoying their breakfast (or lunch?) It's nice to have some interesting entertainment that doesn't involve a huge TV in the middle of a restaurant.

It's drab from the outside, but surprisingly charming on the inside. The restaurant is full of vintage "airplane related" nostalgic photos and model planes.

Enough about the ambiance--you can't eat the décor. When we walked in, you could tell that this was the locals' choice for breakfast in Half Moon Bay. I couldn't resist the Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict ($13.95) and my husband enjoyed his omelet. The coffee is much better than typical diner coffee. The Hollandaise Sauce is dreamy and luscious.

Fun fact: 3-Zero is the name of the runway outside (or more accurately the direction of the runway.)  One more note--this runway is so long you can actually land a 747 there (it is an emergency divert runway for San Francisco airport.) We saw a helicopter take off and land, and many different planes. Our waiter was also a pilot.

Met some friends for brunch - crazy cute restaurant and great fun for kidlets. had seating right away on a Sunday at 11, very surprising when you see how small the inside is - only downer . . . no planes landing/taking off when we were there. It was super windy :(

The decor was a hit for the kids - they talked non-stop about airplanes and my daughter discovered Barbie in the big yellow one hanging from the ceiling.

Pancakes for the kids were BIG and yummy, but way too much food!! We should have ordered one for them to share.

My food was good - but not what I expected, in a bad way. I will not give it down a star for that b/c it was still good food - I should hve ordered what I know. My friends LOVED their food, and it looked fab.

    They have mimosas. Yum.

We will definitely be going back :)

I have wanted to try this little place for a long time.  I finally got to go yesterday and I loved it.

I read some negative comments regarding the service in previous Yelp reviews.  I am happy to say that we had no problems whatsoever.  Our experience with the wait staff was excellent.  The owner circulated among the tables double checking that everyone was happy.  The coffee was really good and empty cups were refilled quickly.  Everyone went out of their way to be friendly and helpful.

I had eggs and my husband had a cheeseburger.  Both were really good.  The fruit in the fruit salad was fresh and delicious.  I will definitely be going back to this place.

The decor is great and everyone was friendly.  You can eat inside or at the big picnic tables in the back.

This place is a gem.  THANK YOU 3-ZERO CAFE !!

Delicious breakfast and lunch. These are my faves:

    - Fish Tacos
    - Chicken Caesar Salad
    - Chili
    - Anything with the Mexican hollandaise sauce

The waitress Sharon is awesome, and on a sunny day it's great to sit out side and watch the planes take off and land.

We checked this place out this morning with the kids before hitting the beach and it was great! It's a cozy place with tons of old airplane photos/articles all over the walls and airplane toys for the kids to play with while you wait.

We waited maybe 5 minutes - no biggie. The dude who runs the place has a very low-maintenance, fast-paced style and he seemed to take a lot of the orders.

It's definitely a busy place with enough hustle-bustle that you don't need to worry about the kids making noise or anything. And the airport is right there so if you get lucky you can watch some planes land. Maybe not ideal for the folks who really like to have long involved relationships with the servers, but those people are never really happy in my experience. It was perfect for us - orders happened fast and food came fast which with kids equals PROFIT!

I had the crab omelette - very good and stuffed with a lot of crab. The wife had Eggs Jullienne or something like that with poached eggs and spinach and such and loved it. Kids had regular and sweet potato pancakes to rave reviews. Everyone had some home fries and those things are really tasty. Perfectly cooked and a lot of flavor.

We had a great morning at the beach after and no one was hungry by lunch time - we'll be back for sure.

We've been coming here for years and this has to be the most consistent and reliable restaurant for breakfast within 25 miles of our house. The small town feel, genuine waiters, and stuffed with locals. What else can you ask for? Let me tell you...

    Brioche French Toast
    Orange Waffles
    Bacon Waffles
    Sweet Potato Pancakes
    Scrambles Galore

And these are only my favorites.

If you haven't been, you must stop in for breakfast (lunch is good too, especially the curly fries!).
