Review from Krissy K.
Brooklyn, NY
Upscale restaurant hidden in a strip mall. I was here on a Tuesday night to have dinner with a supplier for the holiday season. The place wasn't packed, but it wasn't empty.
The food was really good. I didn't partake in the appetizers that the guys got, but I definitely recommend the wedge salad, and it is not your typical wedge salad, it's more of an upscale salad so you don't feel like you're eating a huge head of lettuce. I ordered the fish special for the day, a white fish. For dessert i got the donut holes and they were DELICIOUS! Fresh out of the fryer and were still hot when they got to the table.
The service was great until the waiter took my drink before I was finished...but it was the end of the meal so I didn't mind nearly as much as I would have if it was the beginning. Despite that, A+ service, we never were searching for a server/waiter. -

3 West has a decent bar scene. Its going for a trendy upscale vibe, but the food is nothing to write home about. I've had a few expense account dinners here, and its not a bad place to go with other people's money, but I could never spend my own money here. That being said, the place is always busy, which probably says more about the lack of good restaurants in the immediate area.

I might as well admit I greatly prefer Trap Rock.Although the bar seats at 3 West are more comfortable. What I can't understand or forgive is the beer selection .They have three taps. The last time I was there they had on tap a couple of Trap Rocks wimpiest beers and a Smutty Nose special .Oh, come on!The food is good but I miss the Merguez(lamb sausage). That said this is a good lunch spot.

Great find in Basking Ridge on a business trip to the area. Two blocks from the Courtyard Marriott if you end up there.
The restaurant was full at 8:30pm on a Tuesday -- I had called ahead to make sure they were open, and the hostess kindly held a tall table seat for two. The space is airy and comfortable, nice but not too fancy. Good business casual with bar space, casual high tops, and regular dining, divided up into a few rooms. Service is nice, though a little robotic in execution (some clearly rehearsed lines, but at least they try)
Decent and reasonable wine list. We had a good Chateauneu-de-pape for $72, goes from the typical high end to value (I think some in $40 range). Daily glasses specials too
I had a tomato and cucumber chilled soup to start, a little strong on the seasoning and thick but good. The waiter actually suggested the ribeye burger off of the bar menu (I had asked between regular burger and sliders). It was deelicious, double pattie with comte cheese, onions, avocado. I had a summer corn succatosh side instead of fries, which I really enjoyed (peas and pancetta, yum)
Good, if unnecessary, chocolate cake for dessert, and a Moroccon mint tea.
Not cheap, with appetizer, entre, dessert, wine, tax and tip approx $100 per person. -

Pricey but soooo worth it! I haven't been disappointed with my meal choices each time I've been here. Their mac and cheese side dish is AMAZING! I am not a mac and cheese person and I love it. My favorite side dish is the sweet potato puree. You won't regret it.
You can't go wrong with their entrees either. I've had the half baked chicken with veggies- YUM! The chicken is juicy and the veggies are just right. I've also had the talapia with mushroom risotto. SO GOOD! The risotto was very flavorful with the mushroom cream sauce. My coworker swears by the 3 west burger and says the fries are extra crispy- or it could be the tin pail they come in? -

Although stuck in a strip mall this collection of society's "1%" draws a crowd! Whether you are there for dinner & drinks with friends, or surfing the ever present "bar scene" it's a good place to go! The atmosphere is nicely done and energetic...The service is attentive and sharp! I have been here for dinner multiple times and eaten a variety of items! ALL GOOD!

From Start to Finish this meal was a great one. The Atmosphere is beautiful and food and service was exceptional.
I went to 3 West with some Colleagues from work who had gone before and they were all raving about the place, and they were right. I started my meal with Crispy Shrimp Rolls, which was delicious the pairings gave it a very interesting taste. I than had the Miso Glazed Chatham Cod for my main entree and this again was very good. I was full but was intrigued by their desserts and that was very delicious.
I would definitely recommend this place as they have a great menu, they accommodated to a person in my party that was a vegetarian, their wine list is very good, and the service was impeccable.
The restaurant is a bit pricey, but you can justify the price after eating here. -

What a pleasant surprise in the New Jersey suburbs! If business finds you in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, this is a great spot for some post-meeting decompression. This is a warm, inviting and cozy restaurant with a menu that aims to please diverse palates without compromising on taste or quality. I enjoyed a 3 course meal consisting of crab cakes, a stuffed chicken thigh and dessert.
The crab cake was classically prepared with a tasty remulade and placed on a bed of avocado which was a surprising twist. The dish was beautifully prepared with a red pepper sauce and a microgreen salad on top. I would have been satisfied with this alone.
The chicken was surprisingly good and came stuffed with a spinach/goat cheese pecan mixture and topped on pureed sweet potato. Kudos to 3 West for bringing a new twist to what could have been a boring chicken dish.
Lastly, my dessert was excellent, but unfortunately I was too stuffed to really enjoy it. I had a pudding cakelet which was essentially a flourless chocolate cake, served with small dollops of ice cream and buttery caramel. The caramel and ice cream alone were the stars here despite my love for all things chocolate.
I hesitate to give 5 stars as I would only come here for business vs pleasure, but I must say, 3 West delivers a very pleasurable business meal! I'd love to come back someday. -

I'm a big fan of the establishments by these owners. I love the Huntley Taverne in Summit. I was expecting nothing less here.
First off, this location is not set up for the amount of traffic the location receives. It is in a strip mall, and fighting for a parking spot is expected.
Once inside, the bar is inviting. My martini was made to the standards I expect. I was happy to see fresh oysters on the menu, a definite plus. My entree of monkfish wrapped in prosciutto was tasty and salty, exactly how I expected.
We were seated in the private dining area away from the crowd. I was with a big party, and I would have preferred a table where the action is. But if you do have a party of 10, they can accommodate. -

I came here a few times this summer and it's a great place to sit down for lunch. The restaurant is in a strip center, but the inside is actually more of a formal dining type of place with a well-dressed waitstaff. The Vermont Cheeseburger was huge. It was incredibly tasty and juicy. However, the salad was pretty small and not big enough for a full meal. Ordering took a really long time so keep that in mind if you're coming with a larger than 4 person group.

Another member of the Harvest Restaurant family (i.e. Roots, Trap Rock..etc). Same concept as Trap Rock but minus the brewery. A little different selection on the menu as well. Pricey as usual too. Had a company function here this week. Started with the crab cakes which were very good but a little over cooked on the outside. Filet for main course which was good, not great but I didn't expect it be out of this world because it's not their staple and it was mass produced for our party. Dessert was chocolate cake with melted chocolate in the middle. On the smaller end thank god but good. The atmosphere is a bit stuffy but the staff is friendly and somewhat attentive.

I came here for dinner on a business trip. Both my associate and I got the Filet Migon. The steak was delicious! Very tasty. Not dry or overcooked. The steak was served really hot. I also got the seafood salad which was quite tasty as well.
The other reviewers are right that the price is indeed expensive and seem to definitely cater to the "corporate card" crowd. A quick scan of the room shows how many business travelers are patrons.
Overall, it's good food for a hefty price. -

This is one of those places that I don't have anything to complain about but don't find it so unforgettable that I have to return for a second time. I mean the service is truly good. I was told that I'd made another guest very unhappy by snapping up the last scallop special available for the evening. Well the guest didn't miss much. While it's decent, I didn't find it spectacular. The crab cake starter was pretty good though. They certainly have a basic standard with the food and I heard the tuna was amazing but overall I felt less than impressed. My co-worker's steak turned out to be well done though he asked for medium, and turned out medium when he asked for medium rare. Not expecting that from a place like this. Having said that the atmosphere was good and it's definitely a great place for business meals.

Very good food and really lovely atmosphere! Their steak is delicious. Almost out of place in how trendy it is :) Apparently they also have jazz some nights, although there wasn't any when I was there. Probably a prime choice if you're stuck working up to dinner in the neighborhood.

Basking Ridge, NJ
The place is nice...i enjoy the decor however this place is VERY expensive for what you get. I went here after work for some drinks/dinner and the food is average at best and not that good. Expect high prices. Another thing that i thought was funny is i ordered a miller lite and was told "we don't serve that here"...a VERY snooty place.

We were pleased to find NYC-quality restaurants close to home (back when we lived in BR)! Knowledgeable staff, outstanding menu, and beautiful presentations are complimented by the understated sophistication of the decor. Dished we loved: charred octopus, lamb sausage, leg of venison in bacon, and the duck breast.

This is another great restaurant from one of New Jersey's best restaurant groups. The decor is very interesting with a big hearth in the middle of the room. The food is very good too.

I too am a fan of these restuaranteurs & when they opened 3West less than 5 miles from my home I was really psyched. They made the best of their strip mall locale, but it just doesn't manage to pull of the ambience found in their first two restuarants.
I was there about two years ago. The price points were about what I expected, but the food was merely acceptable & the service was subpar. If you're going on the company dime, it's a fine choice. If it's a night out to celebrate with loved ones, I'd make the drive out to Summit for their Huntley Taverne... -

We are frequent customers to 3 West. We enjoy both the casual drink at the bar as well as the full sit down dinner. This week the bar now has a lounge menu. We always thought this was something that was missing. The new bar menu is great.

Great food. Great service. Had the filet mignon and it was absolutely fabulous. The ceaser salad was not up to par with what it should have been, but when the manager came over to see how everything was, we told him, and he took them off the bill. The service was fast and the atmosphere delightful.

Basking Ridge, NJ
The service was quite nice at this pretty restaurant, but we had some problems with our order. My burger, which I ordered medium-well, was barely cooked to medium. My daughter's filet mignon, which she ordered medium-well, arrived medium-rare. And the sauteed spinach we ordered for the table never arrived. The waiter was very attentive and took care of the problems (we didn't bother mentioning the spinach, as we had plenty of food), and the owner/manager came to our table later and apologized for the meat issues. That said, the food was good, with the exception of the fried calamari, which was extremely tasteless. If you stick to the tavern fare you're probably okay, but the entrees seemed pretty expensive for what you get.
