We went in before dinner and found that appetizers are half-off from 4 to 6. We had a ridiculous spread of good food for a very, very affordable price. The atmosphere was really nice--wooden floors, kind of pub-y but with actual tablecloths and table settings, etc. The waiter/bartender that was on duty at the time was exceedingly courteous despite us being grimy college kids, and the service was very prompt. He even memorized our orders of more than eight dishes. The female waitress who was on duty at the time was rather unpleasant and tried to seat us in the restaurant section instead of the bar section, which would result in us having to pay full price.
Anyway--delicious! Affordable! Classy! It's really just so totally awesome.

The food was good but the restaurant dining room was too damn dark! I could barely see the food it was so dark. Is it romantic? I usually like to be able to see my dates.
Average comfort American dining experience. All of the dishes have the potential to be really good but are instead just okay. Most were way too heavy and rich and others were just kind of duds. Dim but quiet, polite atmosphere. Convenient location for anyone near the Hill.

My Favorite Restaurant in Providence!
Bill & Julie took a Providence staple and made it relevant again. The food and service is top notch! Everything from as simple as the Billy Burger (Grilled onion, Swiss cheese, mushrooms.) to the Pork Tenderloin (Herb marinated & char grilled, with rosemary merlot demi & house mashed potatoes), you will find something you will love.
For the beer fan, they are one of the few places in Providence to have a Belgium Tap System. Meaning you will always a have a fresh pint here. The bar area is very nice and thats were I normally sit. They always a have a great bar staff.
Head to 3 Steeple Street tonight!

I ate at 3 Steeple Street for the first time on Valentine's Day. It was the perfect spot for a romantic dinner--small, dark, but still fairly bustling. There was a much younger crowd (20's) than I'm used to seeing at nice restaurants in Providence, which was cool. I ordered the scallops wrapped in bacon with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. Our food was delivered quickly which was very much appreciated, but my scallops were grainy and the bacon was soggy. Not awful, but I definitely wouldn't order this again. For desert we ordered a chocolate lava cake, which was so incredibly blah I swear they must have just ordered it pre-made from Sysco.
3 Steeple Street also features two Providence restaurant scene staples: grilled cheese and mac and cheese. Some day I will solve the mystery of why these two comfort foods seem to be on every menu in PVD...
If you don't mind paying a little more, Mill's Tavern has much better food than 3 Steeple Street, and the ambiance is just as good.

3 Steeple Street . Nice place.
Had the Grilled Cheese Sandwich and 2 Stonehill IPA's. Friendly local atmosphere. Traditional pub interior. Food & Beer well above average for pub grub. $17.50 and a tip. I would definitley come here again.
The sandwich while not the traditional grilled cheese is totally delicious. It was made with bacon and avocado in addition to cheese and tomato. I was impressed.
Take the five star rating for what it's worth I had a sandwich and two beers but nothing comes to mind when thinking why I would take a star off the food/service of this good simple pub/ bistro.

Cozy atmosphere, with two smallish table areas and bar. Great for an informal sit down lunch or a relaxed dinner. Always something interesting on the menu... most recently I had the special smoked salmon and boursin cheese omlette, quite tasty.

LOVE IT!!!!
Everything on their menu is terrific and the ambiance is equally as impressive. However, I did need to give a 4 star rating because their menu is limited and may not have something for everyone.
