Beet-ween you and me, the beet salad topped with a fried goat cheese medallion and served with hot cornbread will put a smile on your face.  Who says healthy is not the way to go?  This is a great spot for lunch.  It is like a cafe but with a foodie's touch.  This is a sister restaurant of the Edina Grill so expect some similar dishes.

    A must stop!

3 Squares is a step above regular bar food. Their menu is a little fancier. At the same time, it's a little more expensive. As far as atmosphere goes, it's pretty typical for Maple Grove. The location used to be a Green Mill, and looks just like that.

On my quest to eat healther, I had the beet salad with grilled chicken. It was really good. I expected to be disappointed since I was getting a salad for dinner. But I wasn't at all. I ordered that but there were plenty of other things on the menu that seemed interesting.

Bonus star for letting me use my Crowd Cut coupon that had expired a couple of days before.

I came here for breakfast with my moms while running some errands. We noticed a little bit of a line while walking into the restaurant. I took this as a good sign, the place was packed full of people and the food should be good. The decor was nice too; A good vibe eminated from this place.

I ordered the Cakes, Eggs, and Links (I subbed the sausage out for bacon). The eggs came out super fluffy, nice flavor, and perfectly cooked. I couldn't ask for a better egg. The bacon was a bit burnt and hard. I do like a really over cooked piece of bacon but this was almost too overdone. The pancakes are a unique flavor. I don't know how to describe it but I feel like they use buttermilk or a different kind of flour. At first they tasted really great, but towards the end it was a little bit too much.

The portions were a bit on the small side too. Everything fit onto 1 plate: that's 3 pancakes, 2-3 eggs, and 2 slices of bacon. For $10-$11 bucks I could have gotten 3 plates worth of food at Denny's.

It's not a bad place to eat at but be wary,  you'll be dining on some average level food.

Food is always good. Today I had the California. Chipotle Burger, which was really good....served with tots. They always have something I like on tap. Service is not so good. We have dined as 3 Square about 10 times now, and relegated ourselves to the bar now because of the service. The bartenders are always pretty sharp and attentive to the customer.
To the tall skinny hostess with the peace bracelet who seems to work on the weekends: You are terrible at your job. You are first impression people have when they enter and you set the tone for initial dining esxperience. Smile and greet people and like your are glad they chose your establishment to spend their money. When the patrons leave thank them. I can't help but notice that you are aloof to all who enter and leave.

4 of us stopped by on Thursday evening, my first visit.  We arrived at round 5:00pm.  The restaurant is on the corner of strip shopping in Maple Grove.  Entering, there is a bar immediately on the left and the dining area is on the right (not that it matters).  The dining area is modern and casual with great lighting. There was plenty of seating available.  We were seated and promptly greeted by our waitress.  She was very helpful with menu suggestions.  One in our party was a vegetarian and she took the time to offer up some great suggestions for her.

I ordered the "Fish & Chips".  The food arrived in less than 30 minutes and was fresh and hot.  The fish was done perfectly.  4 large fish pieces that was easily able to dip in the tarter sauce container.  The fries were plentiful and cut into small (less than 1/8 inch) slices.  Even though they were good, there was not a lot of uniqueness to them.  Very average.  Also, the smaller slices tend to get colder faster.  The meal came in a nice basket.

The rest of the table ordered; 1.) A cheeseburger, 2.) A veggie burger, 3.) Beef stroganoff.  I can't speak for them but they all enjoyed their meals.

Overall, the service was great, the atmosphere was good, and the food was very good.  All the food is made from scratch so I was very happy about that.  We will be back!

Came for breakfast. Good food. Would be 4 stars if the service wasn't so iffy...the hostesses seems really put-upon to do their jobs. It also took a long time to get a coffee refill. Portions were ridiculous...would've ended up w/diabetes if I ate more than 1/4 of my steel cut oats. Husband really loved his eggs benedict, the hash browns were nice & brown. We'd probably come again, but only when we have lots of time - not very speedy.

I stopped into 3 Squares on a week night last month to grab some dinner.  I was dinning alone and asked to be seated at the bar.  The lay out and decor is very similar to any typical polished, corporate chain type restaurant (i.e. TGI Fridays) with a fully stocked bar and a big screen TV in the middle broadcasting ESPN.  They have a fantastic selection of beers on tap with some local selection and an assortment of others from around the globe.  I kept it simple with a Sam Adams Boston Lager.

Their menu is American with everything you'd expect from a dinner salad, soup of the day, burgers, steaks, etc.  The bar tender suggested the fish tacos and since I'm a sucker for fish tacos I could not resist!   The food came out in a timely fashion just as I was finishing off my beer.  The fish tacos were very good--probably some of the better fish tacos I've ever had.  I highly recommend them!

Overall the experience was pleasing.  Good beer, good food, decent prices.  The dining room was quiet.  However, it was not super busy so I assume it may get up to a dull roar during peak weekend hours.  The service was a little spotty but that's what you'd expect when sitting at the bar for dinner. I plan on coming back and sampling more of their menu!

We came here for brunch on Saturday. It wasnt that busy so the service was excellent. Our server (and her trainee) were very nice, polite, and attentive.

We ordered eggs benedict, french toast, biscuits and gravy, and a bloody mary. I really liked the eggs benedict. It was good though not the best Ive ever had. The hash brown though was well seasoned. It was not a thick glob of mushy bland potato like some other places offer. The hash here was thinner, but it was also crispy with enough salt and pepper that it was probably the first time I didnt really need any ketchup to eat it. My bf really liked his biscuits and gravy, but both of us didnt care for the fruit cup that came with the dish one bit. The french toast was also very tasty and came in huge portion.

The only major downer was the bloody mary. It was really terrible. It wasnt very tomatoey at all. I took one sip and had to give it all to my bf. He also didnt care for it, but he finished it anyway since it had booze lol.

I really wanted this to be a 4 but they just didn't make it.  The appetizer (Gorgonzola Chips) was excellent but we had a turkey burger (expecting the deliciousness of the Highland Grill) but it was a dry limp substitution.

Not good.  I'd give it another try but it's at the bottom of the list.

This review is based only on the Bar. My Brother and I stopped in last Sunday for a drink and a chance to watch Major League Baseball on a bigger screen. It would have been even better if we were here earlier in the day watching the epic Brazil vs. USA Women's Soccer Match. Instead, we say that one on the small screen at the Lake Cabin, with most of our Family members cheering on.

A couple years ago, I bought a DVD of a "B" flick called "Carousel of Revenge". It continues to be a huge family hit, mostly because of the Arnold's Park (Iowa)-based plot, some "so bad it's good" acting, and one particular reference to the "Hottest Nightclub in the Twin Cities". Let's say that 3 Squares was Scott's attempt to find such a "Happening" place in Maple Grove.

3 Squares is located in yet another fake Downtown Area, but has a really comfortable Bar vibe, and a great selection of draft beers. I was very pleased with my Minnesota beer (Surly IPA), but particularly enjoyed just hanging out with my Brother. Alyssa at the bar was also very friendly and welcoming. However, the next time I come in, I'll be more mindful of the generous 7 Day Happy Hour times - Until  6, and then from 9 to close - $2 for any beer on the list. That's a Heckuva Good Deal....

While in Maple Grove for work, some coworkers and I had dinner here, not once but twice (well the 2nd time was more due to being starving with no where else to go, but we were happy to go back!).

The menu has a nice variety of entrees and burgers. The first time there, we split some appetizers - the perogies (YUM!) and the crispy green beans that come with an amazing Asian dipping sauce. I opted for one of their "seasonal specials" for my entree - the pork confit with squash and a bean "medley". It was good - the pork was tender, it was very seasonal, but I do wish there was a bit more seasoning on the squash. My coworkers had fish tacos, veggie burgers and a turkey burger. Everyone loved their meal. For dessert, we split the ice cream special (locally, homemade ice cream - can't pass that up) and the chocolate mousse - SO GOOD.

The 2nd night back there we tried some different apps - the flat bread with goat cheese, and the lettuce wraps. I really enjoyed both of them. For my entree I went with the turkey burger - it was one of the best turkey burgers I've had. The poblano / peanut sauce they put on it was very tasty. Also, their sweet potato fries that come with a garlicky aoli - OMG. I'd go back for the fries alone.

Both nights the servers were super friendly and helpful with any questions we had about the menu. It seems like a great place that you can take your family, or like myself, go there while on business. Like some of the other reviewers here, by the look of 3 Squares you think you're walking into Chili's or TGI Fridays. Do not judge a book by it's cover! If anything, go in and at least check out the happy hour specials and get yourself some sweet potato fries!

I was in MN visiting my sister and brother-in-law (from Boston). One evening we decided to go out to dinner and my brother-in-law brought us here. 3 Squares is located inside a HUGE plaza (by MA standards anyway).

From the outside it reminded me of a TGI Friday's, Applebee's or similar chain restaurant so I wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised to see that wasn't the case. 3 Squares has a nice casual atmosphere with friendly wait staff. The food was good too! I had fish tacos with blackened tilapia. Yum!

They have a great happy hour and happy hour specials.  They had a lot of selections, whether it be drinks or food.  We ordered the flatbread pizza and the green beans.  Both were delicious (basically since we ordered it off the non-low-cal-menu)! Also the selection of beer on Happy Hour - yes please!

I would recommend to make it but possibly expect to wait in line closer to dinner time.  I went to meet a friend there closer to 7pm and it was very busy and a long line.  It was a little snug to wait so I did leave.

I would say if you want a great happy hour - yes....  would I drive out there if I wasn't in the area, probably not worth the drive.

Went in for the third time, and the second in about as many months.

I really wonder about the hot/cold for some folks, but every time we have been in the service and the food have been great.

I am very sad to see the loyalty program go.  It doesn't surprise me that it happened, but of course, it is the wrong way to go during tough times.

They serve comfort food with an out-of-the box mentality I really enjoy.  I found myself ordering the bison burger for the second time.  A burger? Really?  Yes.  Nice homestyle bun, interesting sauce and great mushrooms that are not steamed to death by an bad cook.

My friends meals looked equally great as well.

Our waitress was always at hand and refilled drinks and was *very* engaged.

It is a favorite for us.

My rating is based on their happy hour only.  I've been here a handful of times with a few friends from work.

They always have at least 2 or 3 quality beers on tap.  Recently they added cask offerings every so often.  Their appetizers are alright, similar to all the other Blue Plate restaurants (Highland, Longfellow, Edina Grills etc...)  It doesn't really compare to places in Minneapolis or St. Paul, but for the suburbs it's definitely better than an Applebees or a Chilis.

Bottom line:  Best place for cheap, quality beer and apps in Maple Grove.

I came here with my family last night.  We liked the wide selection of
beer, many of them from Minnesota.  We all ordered the bison burger
and it was delicious, the best I've ever eaten and cooked to perfection.
It is served with glazed onions & crispy mushrooms with a flavorful
sauce.  The burgers come with fries, but you can upgrade to sweet
potatoes or a side salad for a 1.00 extra.  The service was good and
very friendly.  Our waiter Tim Kelly was very attentive and answered all
of our questions.  He also brought us a sample of beer that we had
not heard of to taste and when my son accidentally spilt his beer, he brought him another one.
So, we have heard that their breakfast is great too so will try to come
    back and try it soon.
Even though the food is very good, be prepared to spend a little extra.

The food is fantastic!  The service is the pits! Do not take your children here if they can't wait close to an hour for their meal. I have eaten here numerous times and I can say I have never really had great service.  Just last weekend we had to wait over an hour for our food. (This was not the first time this has happened).  Not only did we wait FOREVER to eat, but I asked a waitress for cream cheese and she promptly answered, "We don't have that" I do in fact know they have cream cheese available and I had to hunt another waiter down for it.   Not good when you have an almost 2 year old demanding his cream cheese toast!
Overall, the food is pretty darn good, but if you don't have patience for BAD service stay away! There are plenty of other good restaurants in the area.

This was my second time here.  Had it been my choice, I wouldn't have gone back based on the food I had the first time (sweet potato fries and gorgonzola fritters which were both really greasy and tasteless), but my happy hour companions picked and I went along.

If you can look past the food and the service, the happy hour is damn good.  $2 well drinks and $2 tap beers.  Three of us split a bill that came to $17.64.

If you're looking for cheap drinks in Maple Grove, definitely try this happy hour.  If you want good food or attentive service, keep looking.

I've been here several times. I really love their mac and cheese and they have an awesome happy hour! Most of their food is pretty good, however the service leaves a bit to be desired and can be spotty.

They have seasonal specials on a separate menu. They're always good, but don't get attached to them because they'll disappear. I'm still pining for a Malted Cristo. :)

Good staff, nice change for suburbia, good drinks and food.

Came here to meet up with some friends who all find this to be centrally located.  Kind of an interesting venue with the open all day idea, but still catering to the late night crowd with a full bar.

The staff was very friendly and helpful.  We came without reservations and needed a table for 7 on a busy Saturday night(7pm).  We waited about a half hour and were asked if a table for 6 would do, with one extra squeezing in.  It wasn't too tight, so we made due.

Drinks were kind of expensive for a place like this, $5 for most beers, and $8.50 for any specialty alcoholic drinks.  Food was similar, not overly expensive but not cheap either.  The fish tacos looked awesome, which two of my friends ended up getting.

My only real complaint is probably that the desert menu was quite poor.  Nothing on it sounded very interesting or enticing.  I was really looking forward to a nice desert as well, but no luck here.

Overall, I found the establishment to be quite nice, the staff to be very helpful, and the food/drinks to be good as well.

It's a very cute restaurant, but a bit on the pricy side.

Our service was absolutely terrible. We waited a half hour once we got our check just to have our credit cards run.

I've now covered all the bases at 3 Squares! Breakfast, lunch, dinner and even on a Tuesday Happy Hour!

Gotta say that rounding the bases has been enjoyable. I think I wrote about lunch and Breakfast, dinner was fantastic. I almost never order chicken when I go out for dinner but I tried the stuffed chicken this time and it was very good.

Happy Hour on a Tuesday night was a beer event as well. The place was packed. I arrived 1/2 hour early to get a seat and the place already had a waiting list. I lucked out on seats at the bar and am glad I did. They had $2.00 Fulton as special but I think the normal Happy Hour is $2 tap beers. I will say for the burbs this place has a very good tap beer selection. I think they only have one of the standard, bud, miller, Coors type of beer. Couple of Fat Tires, Fulton and some other nice brews.

Can't say enough good things about this place. Other than foggy head Wednesday is never fun but I think that falls on me.

Came here for restaurant week. $15 for a 3-course dinner is a badass deal and the food was definitely worth that price. That being said the food was good, not great. Service was not good that weekeday. Drinks took like 20 minutes after I ordered it, but restaurant week will do that I guess.

They actually have a pretty good beer list and a menu that tells you what to expect as far as flavor. Nice touch. Appetizers were ok. I was so hungry and just scarfed down the hummus. Wife's salad had a big piece of cornbread that was the best part of an otherwise normal ass salad. Next was my pulled pork and waffles. I love pulled pork, fresh waffles and it came with crispy onions, so I was pretty happy with this entree. Great dish. Wife got the duck an grits. The duck wasn't great, but the white corn grits and brown truffle sauce was pretty awesome. I've had grits from the south and not always have been into it. These grits tasted a little richer and felt smoother than I've seen grits and the gravy or whatever was good. Desserts were nothing to rave about , so I won't.  Not bad for a Maple Grove restaurant. I'll come here because it's close and I notice the restaurant tries to be a little different with there food and focus on what taste good.

Drive by 3-Squares all the time, but never went in until my wife got a groupon. Went on a quiet Sunday night for dinner and were seated immediately. Air conditioning must have been broken, as it was a hot summer night and warmer inside than outside.

The food was OK, but inconsistent. The calamari was covered with spicy buffalo sauce and came with blu cheese dip on the side. When we told our waiter that we had assumed the buffalo sauce would be on the side like the blu cheese, he just said "that's the way we make it" and walked away. We eventually were able to get him to replace it, but it was more difficult than it should have been  My fish tacos were the best meal at our table - grilled nicely, and served with lime wedges.  My wife's lemon papardalle had fresh pasta, but was swimming in vegetable (not olive) oil. There was about 1/4 cup in the bottom of her bowl when she was done!

Prices were on the higher side of moderate and food was on the lower side.

This may be a bit of a nit, but I hate it when the waiter starts clearing our table before everyone has finished eating.  Our waiter brought this to a new level by bringing the check before we finished eating.

An all around good meal, but nothing all that special. 3 Squares has a good selection for all three meals of the day at anytime (Hence, the name). My Dad and I stopped in for lunch today, and it was a peasant dining experience.

We had the salmon burger and a meat loaf sandwich. The Meat loaf was quoted in the menu as better than Mom's. While it is better than the meatloaf my Mom used to make (sorry about that, Mom), it's not better than the one I make. Not to say it wasn't good. I just think if you have hutsvah to write that in your menu, please back it up. The salmon burger was good. It had a wasabi mayo sauce that was okay, but it was a lot lighter than I had hoped for, and tasted more mayo-like than wasabi. I'd have preferred it to be the other way.

I give 3 Squares big credit for its sweet fries. For a dollar upcharge, you can sub the fries or coleslaw option on their menu for sweet potato fries. I'm a big fan of that option!

Wow, so many bad reviews. My husband and I finally checked this place out today and we both loved it. A few things seem to distinguish us from some of the other folks who had poor experiences.

    (1) We went on a weekday, late morning, so no wait (we actually sat on the patio to enjoy the beautiful day). Don't know if it was the timing, but our service was prompt and friendly, a solid A+.

    (2) We went for breakfast, so I can't speak on the lunch/dinner fare. Just looking at the menu, however, the breakfast selections seem much more impressive. In any case, hubby ordered the meatloaf hash (which includes roasted veggies, eggs, and hashbrowns) and I ordered the brie and spinach frittata which came with hashbrowns. Both of our meals were fabulous. Fresh, flavorful, properly cooked (most places under-cook hashbrowns, by the way--they're supposed to be CRISPY, folks!). We're real 'go out for breakfast' people and unless you're willing to head into the city for, say Hell's Kitchen or something, there aren't many options in the north/northeastern burbs. Mid-way through our meal we were talking about when we'd go back to try different breakfast items (like the breakfast pizza or the salmon scramble, yum).

Oh, the bill came to $25.00 for these two breakfasts and two drinks, which is not bad at all in my opinion for something other than a Perkins-esque eggs and bacon plate.

Hubby & I are big brunch fans.  It's not so easy for us to get into the city with a 23-month old (we've been DYING to try Hell's Kitchen), & the only other brunch recommendations we've been given have been Good Day Cafe & the Original Pancake House.  GDC & OPH are okay, but kind of pricey for what you get.  3 Squares blows both of them out of the water.

Hubby is partial to the Spinach & Brie frittata & the Breakfast Burrito.  I think their blueberry waffles & blueberry french toast are out of this world!  The whipped cream & syrup that accompanies the sweet dishes are amazing!

Service is hit or miss.  One server we had was a bit slow, but we had another that was fabulous.  The one that was great had kids of her own.  :)

Can't vouch for the lunch/dinner menu, but it does look pretty tasty.

Decided to come here over lunch. I ordered the blue river burger with the fries. My buddy ordered the avocado sandwich with sweet potato fries. The burger was big and juicy and delicious. The regular fries were good also, but doesn't stand out from other places.  I tired some of my buddies sweet potato fries and OMG were they awesome. Huge too! Next time I am going to order those. Definitely worth getting.

Stopped in here for lunch on Sunday. It was extremely hard to walk right by The Claddagh and not have lunch there but I'm so glad we did.
We were seated right away and they even had the Vikes game on which was excellent because I'm usually stuck to my couch for the game on Sunday!

Our server asked if we'd been there before (which I hate for some reason) but this time I answered honestly and said no we haven't. She made a couple recommendations, took our drink orders and let us have some time to look. All the breakfasts sounded so good, I'll be back here to try it sometime soon! I ordered what they call a Walleye burrito ( it's really just a wrap ) but holy cow was it ever good. My partner in crime for the day had the fish & Chips and it was excellent. I have no idea what their magical seasonings are that is in the breading but I'm pretty sure it would make carp good! The flavor just explodes! We'll be back here for sure as there is a lot more menu to explore!

My boyfriend is obsessed with this place and finally brought me to partake.

We came for late-night happy hour, which I am impressed they serve on Saturday nights, since many places do not.

Ironically, despite the fact that it was hh, we ended up doing the Summit Sampler (the seven Summit brews they have on tap, plus an extra), which isn't on special.

Still, it was fun and the decor created some quality ambiance.  I'm putting the grits with duck on my to-do list because I like duck and I like grits, but I have never contemplated eating the two together.

It's been a couple years since I've been to 3 Squares, the 1st time was for dinner, so we decided to give breakfast a try.  I'll be the 1st to admit that I just wasn't that impressed.  I thought the breakfast menu was relatively small.  There just wasn't a good selection of items.  I ordered the Eggs Benedict and the 2 other people in my party had the French Toast.  The Eggs Benedict was $10, which I feel was a little on the pricey side.  It came with two "Benedicts" & a really small side of hashbrowns.  The French Toast was $8 and that didn't come with a side at all.  Honestly, I would rather have gone to IHop and gotten twice the amount of food for  1/2 the price...... On the plus side, the service was very good and they do have a really cheap kids menu.

3 Squares is a refreshing change from all of the chains in the 'burbs. We used to live in St. Paul, Highland Park and loved the Highland Grill, fr all meals of the day. Now that were commuters by day and suburbanites by night, this is a great dining option to enjoy unique, interesting menu items with pleasant taste bud twists.

One of our favorite dishes from the dinner menu is the steak and pierogi with shoestring onions. It's a great comfort dish in fall and winter. The steak is loin-style, dry-rubbed first and then seared on the outside. It's tender and a good value for the $13 pricetag. The pierogis melt in your mouth, with and without the creamy addicting dipping sauce they are served with.

I'm addicted to their Sweet Potato fries that are server with a garlicy, peanut-butter/mayo (I'm guessing?) dipping sauce. From previous reviews about this place, if they are mushy, then send them back and get new ones. They are thick cut, very thick cut, so some people might think mushy is from their density. Whatever the case, I love them and always have.

The fish can be hit or miss. Sometimes fishy, but for the price and your in Minnesota, it's not a surprise.

Other stand outs are the happy hour specials ($3 glass of wines, $3 tap beers and very good selection of tab beers). You cannot afford to miss trying their Peters burger and the Turkey burger. It will change how you classify (aka avoid) Turkey burgers! From the appetizer menu, we love the corn fritters, they come with a green garlic sauce that you will either love or hate. We loved it as we love strong flavors. It's definitely not a first-date appetizer!

Their mixed drinks are pretty good, best value at happy hour. A bit on the smallish side for the price.

At a minimum, sign up for their email announcements. They do a lot of events for the community with music, fundraisers, creative events. I love their creative dining events which include local brewers and musicians.

Normally my wife and I LOVE this place, but we were very underwhelmed by this visit.  The sweet potato fries were overcooked and soggy.  The Thai fish cake was OK, but nothing fantastic.  Steph had a walleye burrito which was alright......the beer selection was great though!  Will be back, but hopefully it will be better next time

Seems like it does breakfast best.  My dinner was fairly boring, same with the menu.  Very geared towards the "meat n potato" crowd.

The fish tacos I had weren't terrible, there was just way too much going on in them.  Spicy  (and obscenely salty) Fish, black beans, corn, tomatoes, jalapeno, onion, lettuce, avocado, creamy sauce, lime, cilantro.  I big mash in your mouth.  I would have rather had a black bean, tomato, corn side dish and then fish tacos that focused on fish.

I also had a mushroom flatbread appetizer.  Average.

The decor of the dining room is super dowdy and Perkins-like.  Not a fan at all.
